I Just Want to Spoil and Run Away with the Abused Female Lead [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 18
Lin Shuangran chuckled softly, “I won’t abandon you.”
Shi Xingrao subtly tightened her grip. She wouldn’t let anything happen to Lin Shuangran either she couldn’t allow the original plot to repeat itself.
“Mhm, Sister can’t abandon Raorao,” Shi Xingrao murmured, gently pressing her lips to the nape of Lin Shuangran’s neck. Her warm, damp lips brushed softly against the skin, causing Lin Shuangran’s fingers to instinctively curl, as if searching for something to hold onto. But Shi Xingrao intercepted her hand, intertwining their fingers firmly.
Lin Shuangran felt a little dazed. It wasn’t the first time Shi Xingrao had kissed her, but she could sense the girl’s deep-seated grievance, the way she nuzzled gently against her, yet tears streamed down incessantly.
Like a wronged puppy prone to crying, Shi Xingrao clung to her, biting back sobs as she pleaded, “Sister, you’re not allowed to abandon Raorao.”
Lin Shuangran hummed in agreement, but the little one pressed further, “You’re not allowed to speak to Lu Ze, and you’re not allowed to get engaged to him.”
Though only her neck was being kissed, Lin Shuangran felt so overwhelmed by Shi Xingrao’s actions that her eyes grew moist. The hazy lighting made the walls and handrails appear distorted, as if everything were an illusion, yet the sensations and sounds were undeniably vivid.
After a long moment, Lin Shuangran struggled to open her eyes and finally replied, “Okay.”
“Then, can you also ignore Lin Yi?”
Shi Xingrao seemed to realize how unreasonable her request sounded, lacking the boldness she’d had earlier. Instead of making demands outright, she gazed at Lin Shuangran with pleading eyes, like a puppy yearning for its owner’s attention.
Lin Shuangran turned around and cupped Shi Xingrao’s face. That face was truly exquisite delicate bone structure and flawless features. Whether she wore a cold expression or a pitiful one, she was impossibly beautiful, evoking a desire to give her the very best.
Lin Shuangran gently stroked Shi Xingrao’s brow bone. “Raorao, you know this request is unreasonable. Do you still want to ask it?”
Shi Xingrao had always known Lin Shuangran was gentle, but now, with her face being caressed, all she could think of was staying close to her a little longer, nuzzling against her once more.
Lowering her head, Shi Xingrao followed her impulse and lightly brushed her nose against Lin Shuangran’s. Lin Shuangran’s long, feathery lashes swept softly over Shi Xingrao’s nose bridge, sending a tingling sensation through her. Shi Xingrao almost wanted to ask if Lin Shuangran was an eyelash spirit, they were so long and utterly captivating.
“But I feel unhappy when I see Sister with someone else,” Shi Xingrao mumbled, her voice muffled. She looked at Lin Shuangran with imploring eyes, adopting a strategic retreat. “Sister, then you have to compensate me.”
Cat Ears: “!!!”
“Is your acting reserved for deceiving the female lead!?”
Shi Xingrao: “!? Why are you still here? You should’ve shut yourself off by now if you knew what was good for you.”
Cat Ears: “…”
Hmm…
Was it wrong for Cat Ears to watch?
Shi Xingrao chuckled lightly. “Duoduo, Sister is shy. You should turn yourself off.”
Cat Ears: “…”
It might not be human, but Shi Xingrao was truly a dog.
Ten minutes later, standing in Lin Shuangran’s bedroom, Shi Xingrao stared at the contract in her hand, her eyes brimming with grievance. “Sister, you know the compensation I meant wasn’t like this.”
Lin Shuangran changed into her clothes. The white silk nightgown outlined her waist, light and thin enough to be translucent. As Lin Shuangran moved, Shi Xingrao could vaguely catch glimpses of her long, straight legs.
Shi Xingrao blinked her eyes. The room was so quiet that the sound of her swallowing became particularly noticeable.
Lin Shuangran’s gaze paused on Shi Xingrao’s fair neck. The blush that had just begun to fade returned in full force. “Raorao, you.”
Shi Xingrao: “…”
This made her seem utterly useless, but this was Lin Shuangran her future wife. What was wrong with swallowing a little?
Shi Xingrao: “Sister, you’re so beautiful. Don’t be mad, okay?”
Shi Xingrao’s eyes remained fixed on her, brimming with adoration. Lin Shuangran lowered her gaze slightly, only to be hugged tightly by the puppy-like Shi Xingrao, who nuzzled against her. Lin Shuangran sighed helplessly and pinched Shi Xingrao’s earlobe. “Your eyes are so swollen from crying. What other compensation could you possibly want? Go to bed early.”
“Be good, go to sleep. Wait, when your eyes aren’t swollen anymore, then I’ll.”
Shi Xingrao looked up, confused. “?”
Then let her do what? Let her sleep?
“Then I’ll make it up to you.”
Shoved out of the room by Lin Shuangran, clutching the resources Lin Shuangran had just given her, Shi Xingrao blinked in bewilderment. Wait, what did her swollen eyes have to do with compensation?
After thinking for three seconds, Shi Xingrao suddenly understood.
Lin Shuangran seemed to be implying she wanted to make her cry. Shi Xingrao: “…?”
It seemed Lin Shuangran had some misunderstandings about both her and herself.
Lin’s father was so enraged that he ended up in the hospital. Before heading to the Lin Corporation, Lin Yi couldn’t resist going to see him and gloat.
But before she even entered the ward, she could hear a chorus of weeping inside.
“You have no idea how that little bitch surnamed Shi bullied us!”
“I’ve never suffered such humiliation in my life. I don’t even expect Lin Shuangran’s marriage alliance to bring much benefit to the Lin family anymore. Just transfer all the Lin family shares to Lin Yu’s name.”
“Now is not the right time,” Lin’s father frowned. “Besides, in my current state, how could I transfer anything?”
But the stepmother was clearly dissatisfied. “Are you still favoring those two girls? I think it’s all excuses you just don’t want to give them to us.”
“Dad, why aren’t you transferring the shares to Auntie? Is it because you don’t want to, or because you can’t?” Lin Yi smiled faintly as she pushed the door open.
The Lin family shares had never been in Lin’s father’s hands. Some were held by her, and the rest were controlled by Lin Shuangran.
The stepmother froze for a moment. “What do you mean?”
Lin Yi chuckled. “Auntie, didn’t the old man tell you he doesn’t hold controlling shares in the Lin family? I thought you knew. I was just thinking how extraordinary you are even though the old man is old, doesn’t bathe, and has no money, you still want him. But, tsk tsk, it turns out Auntie was tricked by the old man into being our stepmother.”
The stepmother, who had been crying pitifully just moments before, was momentarily stunned. She turned to Lin’s father in disbelief. “You don’t have the Lin family shares?”
Exposed, Lin’s father showed no guilt. Instead, he grew furious. “What’s that look for? Didn’t you say you’d take care of me even if I had nothing? Didn’t you say you truly loved me?”
The stepmother dropped her innocent act and reached out to pinch Father Lin. “Really love you? Do you think I’m stupid? Who would love you without your money? If you don’t have a mirror, at least you have piss. Why don’t you take a piss and look at yourself?”
The two of them argued fiercely, their insults growing filthier by the minute.
“Dad, Xiao Ran is completely disappointed in you now. Don’t expect her to support you in the future. And stop thinking about her shares, she won’t give them to you.”
“Xiao Ran has found someone who treats her well. She doesn’t need your hypocritical affection anymore. Find time to go to the Lin family and collect your things. Don’t wait until I have to kick you out.”
Lin Yi dropped this remark at just the right moment and left.
Shi Xingrao watched the drama unfold through Cat Ear’s live broadcast, her eyes narrowing with lingering interest. “Duoduo, do you think we should send them a little gift?”
Cat Ear: “!!!”
Shi Xingrao: “Why are you so nervous? I’m not going to hurt them.”
Cat Ear: “Then what do you want to do?”
Shi Xingrao: “I’m just wondering if I should buy them each a high-value accidental insurance policy.”
Cat Ear: “!!! Host, maybe we should try to accumulate some good karma.”
Shi Xingrao chuckled lightly. “I’m joking. I’m not really the King of Hell.”
Besides, who knows where a person’s bottom line lies? The stepmother leaving Father Lin with her son might be considered a relatively gentle outcome. If the stepmother had more malicious intentions, she might have bought an accidental insurance policy for the old man herself.
The old man is already sick. If he suddenly died in his hospital bed, who could say for sure what happened?
After all, they kept saying that Lin Shuangran should contribute to the family. At this point, the old man making a little contribution to their small family of three wouldn’t be too unreasonable.
Shi Xingrao’s eyes darkened. She had never overestimated human nature. Given sufficient benefits, some people would always break free from the shackles of morality.
Even her own moral standards weren’t particularly high. She wasn’t like Lin Shuangran, who was naturally kind to others.
Shi Xingrao: “Do you think Jiejie is asleep?”
Cat Ear: “Didn’t you just come from Miss Lin’s place?”
Shi Xingrao lifted her eyelids, propping her chin with one hand, her tone smug. “But I just can’t bear to be away from Jiejie.”
Cat Ear: “Ugh, even dogs wouldn’t eat such a love-struck brain.”
Shi Xingrao smiled ambiguously. “So Jiejie isn’t asleep yet, right?”
Cat Ear: “…”
Shi Xingrao stood up. “Duoduo, find me a movie. I’m going to watch it with Jiejie.”
