I Just Want to Spoil and Run Away with the Abused Female Lead [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 12
The supervisor had long grown accustomed to Lu Ze’s almost arrogant personality. Even in his youth, Lu Ze had been this way looking down on everyone. Of course, his near-genius talent in programming gave him the capital to be proud and the right to disdain anyone on equal footing.
However, the supervisor had a bad feeling about this. He couldn’t shake the thought that the person attacking their company’s website was on par with Lu Ze in terms of skill. He wasn’t even sure what the outcome would be if the two were to confront each other.
By 8 a.m., as he watched Lu Ze’s fingers frantically tapping on the keyboard and beads of sweat forming on his forehead, the supervisor became certain: Lu Ze was utterly incapable of fending off the hacker’s attack.
What’s more, when he saw the code Lu Ze was writing, his vision nearly went dark. The quality of Lu Ze’s code was even worse than that written by the newest recruits under his supervision.
Pale-faced, Lu Ze tried to save face, saying, “It’s been a long time since I’ve done this kind of work. Give me two more hours, and I’ll not only stop the attack but also uncover the hacker’s identity.”
If Lu Ze once had the right to be arrogant, now, without that capital, he was practically nothing.
The reason the supervisor had chosen to stay at Lu Ze’s company was because Lu Ze was stronger than him, stronger than anyone else he had ever met. In the world of geniuses, only someone even more exceptional could attract another genius.
Now, his interest had shifted to the hacker on the other side.
As for Lu Ze, he felt nothing but disappointment. How could a genius fall so far? He had no idea what had corroded Lu Ze’s mind to this extent.
Over the years, Lu Ze had become consumed with scheming and maneuvering. In short, he was no longer the prodigious young man he once was no longer that proud but brilliant youth.
Cat Ear had worked hard all night. It felt as though the makeshift fingers it had temporarily created had been worn down by five centimeters from all the typing.
Especially when it turned around and saw its host sleeping soundly, Cat Ear was overwhelmed with resentment.
It finally understood why Shi Xingrao, with such a powerful golden finger, hadn’t used it herself. It was clearly a trap using Cat Ear as her free labor. One night, one miracle, and it, a mere system, had to face off against an entire team.
Even with its powerful golden finger, dealing with a whole group was exhausting.
Shi Xingrao was downright ruthless so much so that even capitalists would shed tears at her methods.
When Shi Xingrao slowly woke up and met Cat Ear’s resentful gaze, she couldn’t help but laugh. It seemed her foolish little laborer had finally realized it was being exploited.
Shi Xingrao: “Why are you looking at me like that, Duoduo? Don’t you know that the gifts of fate always come with a hidden price?”
Cat Ear: “A price of five centimeters of fingers?”
Shi Xingrao couldn’t hold back her laughter. Cat Ear’s expression grew even more resentful. “Sorry, I usually don’t laugh.” unless I can’t help it.
Deciding to give her resentful Cat Ear a break, Shi Xingrao said, “Alright, leave something behind for them, and your task will be done.”
Cat Ear carried out the final step as instructed by Shi Xingrao.
At Lu Corporation’s cybersecurity department, a line of bold text suddenly appeared on every computer screen:
【Why not upgrade your website? Is it beyond your capabilities? Hah, so-called genius? More like a fool.】
Lu Ze’s already pale face grew even whiter, his clenched fists turning bone-white at the knuckles. Everyone in the security department witnessed the mockery firsthand the ridicule directed squarely at him.
Lu Ze felt every gaze around him was filled with derision. Furious, he swept all the computer keyboards off the desk onto the floor. The clattering sound of keycaps and scattered components filled the air, and no one dared to breathe too loudly.
Yet Lu Ze still pointed at them and shouted, “Are you all useless? I pay you so much, and you can’t even maintain the website’s security?”
A young man, still unacquainted with the harsh realities of society, couldn’t hold back. “What do you even know? The things you write aren’t even as good as mine. How dare you criticize us? Some genius I’d call you a fool. I don’t even know how you won those awards before.”
Lu Ze was so enraged he nearly fainted. Grabbing a water cup, he hurled it in the young man’s direction. “Shut the hell up!”
The supervisor’s expression turned cold. “Lu Ze, has dating rusted your brain?”
His former pride trampled and twisted, even his past rivals now questioning him, Lu Ze’s eyes reddened. “What’s wrong with me dating? Don’t forget how you ended up in this company. Not only were you my rival, but you’re working for me now. I gave you a job, who gave you the right to talk to me like that?”
The supervisor sneered. He had thought that, having known each other since their youth, they were at least friends who could speak frankly. But it turned out Lu Ze only saw him as a beggar.
Taking off his work badge, he slammed it on the table in front of Lu Ze. “I lost to you, but you’re nothing but a fool. Losing to you is the biggest regret of my life.”
Lu Ze continued to spiral into madness until, at the peak of his frenzy, a line of text on the screen struck him as eerily familiar. He dialed Shi Xingrao’s number. “It was you, wasn’t it? You’re the one screwing me over, right? Shi Xingrao, what did I ever do to you that you’d treat me like this?”
Shi Xingrao held the phone slightly away from her ear, listening as Lu Ze’s hysterical voice came through. “No, it can’t be you. You don’t have the ability. You’re useless.”
Shi Xingrao replied calmly, “How do you know I don’t have the ability?”
Lu Ze stared at his phone screen in disbelief. Impossible. Shi Xingrao had always been so timid and submissive, how could she possibly have such skills? She must be lying to him again.
Everything was going according to Shi Xingrao’s plan. Lu Ze’s company would soon crumble.
But she needed to act quickly to identify who would benefit once Lu Ze’s company fell apart. She had worked too hard on this scheme to let someone else reap the rewards after taking Lu Ze down.
Shi Xingrao instructed, “Lu Ze’s company is set to release their new game in three days, right? The moment it goes live, attack their game website again. Make sure it’s down for at least a full day.”
“With his key allies gone, it shouldn’t be too difficult, right?”
The cat’s perked-up ears drooped instantly. “…”
It seemed she’d have to sacrifice another five centimeters of her fingers.
Meanwhile, posts about Lu Ze’s declining talent began to slowly gain traction. Mixed in were accounts of his outbursts and the hacking incident targeting his company’s website.
After paving the way for Lu Ze’s future, Shi Xingrao found herself with some free time, simply waiting for the public opinion and the game to both encounter issues three days later.
Gently tapping the cat ears on her head with her index finger, Shi Xingrao thought for a while before asking, “By the way, where’s my sister?”
Cat Ears replied, “Seems she went to the Lin family, probably for a family gathering.”
Shi Xingrao’s earlier good mood instantly vanished. “She went to the Lin family?”
The Lin family was not easy to deal with, and she couldn’t rest assured with Lin Shuangran going there alone.
