- I Helped My Best Friend with Her Romance—and Fell for the Enemy’s Strategist
- Chapter 7 - The President Is Adorable
Song Wanqing: Chengzi! Are we still best friends or not? How could you just leave like that! What happened to being my wingman?
Song Wanqing: You have no idea how awkward it was between me and Yu Qiuli!
Song Wanqing: Chengzi!
Lin Ruocheng glanced at her phone, all the unread messages were from Song Wanqing.
She had completely forgotten to inform Song Wanqing when she arrived at the student council office earlier.
Checking the time, she realized an hour had already passed since she left the sports field.
Had time flown by that quickly?
She didn’t reply, knowing exactly what the other girl was going to say.
She had bought some snacks from the supermarket beforehand.
By the time she returned to the dorm, the other two roommates were back as well.
“Want some snacks? Pick whichever you like.”
The two roommates each took a packet, and Lin Ruocheng handed the rest to Song Wanqing.
Pulling over a stool, she sat down.
“So? How did it go with your goddess?”
“This was all part of my plan. Besides, I got called away by the dean, it couldn’t be helped. And wasn’t this a chance for you to spend more time alone with your goddess? I can’t date her for you, can I?”
Song Wanqing was easy to placate and not particularly sharp, especially when it came to matters like this.
“I knew it! Chengzi would never abandon me.”
“What snacks did you buy? Let me see first.”
Song Wanqing was a foodie, but around Yu Qiuli, she acted reserved and didn’t dare eat too much, afraid her goddess would think she was a glutton.
After all, that was her goddess!
“What were you two talking about? Did you give her the gift?”
“Yeah, I did.”
Song Wanqing nibbled on her snacks like a little hamster storing food for winter.
She had changed into a childish set of pajamas, clearly having just showered.
“I said sorry, she said sorry, and then we walked around the sports field three or four times without saying another word. We split up when it was almost lights-out.”
Song Wanqing was still acting proud.
Lin Ruocheng sometimes felt that some people were just meant to be single forever.
Without saying a word, she just patted Song Wanqing’s shoulder.
Then she turned and climbed straight into her own bed.
She was tired and exhausted, especially from helping someone as clueless as Song Wanqing navigate romance.
Whatever it was, it could wait until tomorrow.
“Chengzi… Chengzi?”
Lin Ruocheng didn’t respond.
Before Song Wanqing could say much more, the lights went out.
The dorm supervisor shouted a few times from outside, and Song Wanqing finally got into bed.
…
Lin Ruocheng often wondered who invented 8 a.m. classes in college.
Hadn’t they suffered enough getting up early during the gaokao?
But for most college students these days, nightlife was definitely more vibrant than daytime.
Staying up late and waking up early had become the norm.
Lin Ruocheng was majoring in finance, her mother hoped she would take over the family business someday.
She had a twin sister, but her sister wasn’t at C University. Instead, she was a sophomore at the neighboring Criminal Police Academy.
“Let’s grab some breakfast.”
“What do you want? I’ll go buy it.”
Song Wanqing picked up her phone and headed toward the cafeteria.
Lin Ruocheng grabbed her hand, unable to bear the sight.
“I meant for you to buy a boiled egg and a soy milk for your goddess and deliver them to her classroom. If you want to pursue her, shouldn’t you be a little more proactive?”
“Or is your head filled with all sorts of nonsense? Sure, the strategist is important, but isn’t the goddess important too? Didn’t you even make a chart about her before?”
“Hehe, I guess so.”
It felt like all this person’s intelligence had gone into their height.
Especially when it came to romance, their IQ really dropped to zero.
That’s why Lin Ruocheng wanted to be part of the brains of the operation.
She had absolutely no interest in falling in love. Wasn’t focusing on her career much more appealing?
“Go ahead, I’ll wait here. There’s still some time, so hurry up.”
Song Wanqing quickly walked into the cafeteria.
Lin Ruocheng stood at the entrance, yawning. Since starting her sophomore year, she rarely bothered with dressing up.
It was just too tiring, she’d rather use that time to catch some extra sleep.
She wore black-rimmed glasses, a black baseball cap, and a simple casual tracksuit.
She rarely put effort into her appearance in the mornings anyway. She wasn’t a freshman anymore, today’s look was all about the “dark beauty” vibe.
At most, she’d apply some sunscreen.
“Want something to eat?”
The voice was cool and slightly distant.
It felt familiar, but she couldn’t quite place it.
Lin Ruocheng looked up toward the sound.
It was Fu Yanxi.
A slender, delicate hand held out a peeled boiled egg and a cup of warmed milk.
“For me? Xiao Xixi is so sweet to me~”
Lin Ruocheng wasn’t intentionally checking out the other’s hand, but as a lesbian, the “cooking tools” were pretty important.
Some people were good-looking but their “weapons” were a bit lacking. But from the looks of it, Fu Yanxi was the type who was both beautiful and had elegant hands, distinct knuckles, like the most perfect sculpture, smooth as freshly fired porcelain.
The “weapon display” was quite impressive. Was she also into girls?
Whoever ended up with her would surely be well-fed.
Lin Ruocheng knew that if the other’s strategist was here, then Yu Qiuli must be around too. It seemed they were on the same wavelength.
She didn’t refuse, after all, it was offered specifically to her. With a merchant’s mindset, if it’s handed to you for free, why not take it?
But instead of reaching out to take the peeled egg, she leaned forward and opened her mouth.
When she felt the other’s tongue accidentally brush against her fingertip, Fu Yanxi’s ears turned visibly red.
“Xiao Xixi, why are your ears so red?”
Lin Ruocheng chuckled lightly.
Who knew Fu Yanxi could be so innocent?
It was actually kind of fun.
Especially seeing her ears turn red, it made Lin Ruocheng feel like a mischievous troublemaker, leading this icy girl astray.
Lin Ruocheng only ate half the egg.
The other half was eaten right in front of her by Fu Yanxi.
“What… is that not allowed?”
Fu Yanxi suddenly leaned in close, shrinking the distance between them in an instant.
They almost kissed.
Lin Ruocheng didn’t pull away.
“Of course it’s allowed. Student Council President, you’re just too adorable like this.”
Fu Yanxi took a few steps back.
She really was no match for her.
Lin Ruocheng was quite the tease.
Putting on that fake, proper act.
Only Lin Ruocheng knew that, in private, this person was anything but proper.
What kind of proper person would have held the other’s strategist in their arms just last night?
Acting all intimate, as if they were already dating.
Before long, Song Wanqing and Yu Qiuli walked out.
The two of them walked out, each carrying the breakfast they had bought, and then exchanged items at the restaurant entrance.
They had both bought the same things: eggs and soy milk.
“Um… good morning.”
“Mm, good morning.”
“Are you heading to class too?”
“Yeah, are you going to class alone as well?”
“Have you eaten yet?”
Song Wanqing glanced at the eggs and soy milk in her hand and paused for a moment.
“Probably soon, and you?”
Fu Yanxi & Lin Ruocheng: “…”
Just end it all, you awkward robots!
We asked you to chat, not to kill the conversation!
