- I Helped My Best Friend with Her Romance—and Fell for the Enemy’s Strategist
- Chapter 2 - Quite the Skill
As soon as Fu Yanxi returned to her dorm, she saw her best friend looking as if she were facing a formidable enemy. Her friend typed out a message on her phone, then deleted it, feeling it wasn’t quite right. The anxiety radiating from her was so intense it felt like grass might sprout from her head at any moment.
“Yanxi, you’re finally back! She asked me out for a meal… lunch, in the cafeteria. What should I do? What should I wear? It’s my first time going out to eat with the girl I’ve had a crush on. I’m so nervous I might die. Why don’t you come with me?”
Fu Yanxi showed no interest. Recalling how this girl always scurried away at the sight of Yu Qiuli, she wondered if it was really her who had initiated the invitation. And sending such an adorable sticker? That didn’t seem like her style at all.
Rumor had it that there was a skilled matchmaker in their dorm, quite well-known in fact. Perhaps she had stepped in?
“Me? Go with you?”
Originally, Fu Yanxi had no interest and even less desire to eat in the cafeteria. But under her best friend’s earnest gaze, she reluctantly gave in. For the sake of her friend, she was ready to take a bullet, or in this case, board a pirate ship
The name was quite simple, just “Chengzi.”
She tapped the “Add Friend” button.
Then, in the notes section below, she honestly explained:
[I’ve been a bit busy lately, really sorry about that.]
After sending the message, she turned off her phone and slipped it into her pocket.
Putting on her Bluetooth earpiece, she called Yu Qiuli in advance before walking into the cafeteria with her.
Inside the cafeteria, it was still quite crowded.
Since the semester had just started, all the freshmen were wearing camouflage uniforms for military training.
To be honest, it was hard to recognize anyone, let alone distinguish the sophomores like them.
Being able to grab a meal and find a seat was already pretty good.
Luckily, they had arrived relatively late.
Even though there were people, it wasn’t overly packed.
It wasn’t so crowded that you couldn’t move.
Lin Ruocheng found a spot not too far behind Song Wanqing, about two or three tables away.
After all, the two of them were there to eat together, and it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to get too close.
Surprisingly, picking up her old role as a “strategist” again felt a bit thrilling.
Song Wanqing carried her tray of food and sat down.
Yu Qiuli also sat across from her with her own tray.
They sat in silence.
“Talk! Don’t just sit there like a mute. Did you come here just to eat with her?”
Lin Ruocheng was utterly exasperated.
She had acted as a “strategist” for others twice before, but she’d never found it this difficult to guide someone.
“Um, what a coincidence, you’re here to eat too, right?”
Lin Ruocheng: “…”
Seriously? What else would you do in a cafeteria if not eat?
Wash dishes?
“Yeah, didn’t you invite me? Can I try a bite of your food?”
Song Wanqing’s brain short-circuited, and she obediently pushed her tray toward the other girl.
Her movements were very docile.
“Go ahead.”
Yu Qiuli picked up a piece of meat from the other’s bowl and put it in her mouth.
She savored it carefully.
“As expected, the food looks delicious, and the person is just as beautiful.”
Song Wanqing completely froze.
Even Lin Ruocheng was a bit surprised, she hadn’t known Yu Qiuli was this smooth!
For the sake of her best friend’s happiness, she had even become the student council vice president.
From what she knew, Yu Qiuli was nothing like this now.
She must have a strategist too, right?
“Tell her: ‘I’ve carefully reviewed the PPT you made. There are some parts that involve close contact. To ensure things go smoothly this afternoon, would you mind if I got a little closer to you?'”
Song Wanqing copied and pasted the message directly.
Yu Qiuli chuckled softly.
“Is it me getting closer to you, or you getting closer to me?”
Damn! Who is this strategist?
She’s definitely got some skills!
Lin Ruocheng glanced toward the area not far behind Yu Qiuli.
Sure enough, there was another girl there too, with a rather cool demeanor.
Even her face looked as if it were sculpted, just a simple half-sleeve shirt and pants, but she carried an air of sophistication.
Long, straight black hair with a strand of silver-gray.
Quite unique.
But her aura seemed to scream “strangers, keep away” and even acquaintances, too.
She looked like she was probably quite wealthy.
She was wearing a Rolex watch.
Definitely not cheap.
Noticing the other strategist’s gaze, Fu Yanxi raised her hand and waved.
Though no words were exchanged, they both roughly understood who the other was.
She seemed to remember this person, who was she again?
Logically speaking, someone this good-looking would definitely leave an impression, regardless of gender.
She seemed… she should be the student council president, right?
Don’t ask why I, as the vice president, don’t know the president, it’s because she just became president in our sophomore year.
The previous vice president stepped down.
I think her name was Fu Yanxi.
