I Heard That I am a HeartBreaker - Chapter 3
Physical education class was a rare moment of relaxation for high school students during their entire school life. As soon as Qiu Shuang heard the teacher say dismissed, she couldn’t wait to wander around or find a place to rest quietly for a while.
However, the arrival of Song Ya shattered the brief tranquility. The other girl plopped down next to her and stared directly at Qiu Shuang. Qiu Shuang felt a little annoyed by the inexplicable stare. Based on her understanding of the other girl, whenever she came to find her, it was usually to cause trouble and force her to apologize, or simply to throw a tantrum.
Song Ya’s appearance was very aggressive, what people commonly call a ‘mature woman’ or yujie face. Although her height was not very yujie, her strength was surprisingly great. It was said that her family had enrolled her in a Taekwondo class when she was little, and she had almost gone professional, but later gave up due to some accident and switched to learning dance instead.
“Did Chen Wanjun say bad things about me to you?”
The sudden accusation from the other girl left Qiu Shuang in silence.
“No, Wanjun just told me to study hard, as the college entrance exam is coming soon.”
“Then you shouldn’t stop talking to me completely. Are you going to break off our friendship…”
Song Ya stood up. Qiu Shuang watched as the other girl’s figure blocked the sunlight in front of her.
Qiu Shuang watched Song Ya bend down and lean close to her ear.
“Shuangshuang… you are a good girl. You don’t want to be isolated again, do you? Be good, stay far away from that bitch.”
“I like her.”
Hearing the words that clearly favored Chen Wanjun, Song Ya smiled, then straightened up. That beautiful face was particularly repulsive in Qiu Shuang’s eyes.
“You like her? What is that worth…”
After Song Ya stood up, her gaze naturally followed the collar of the school uniform and caught a glimpse of the snowy white skin. She turned her head away.
“Button up the top button of your shirt.”
Hearing the other girl’s words, Qiu Shuang looked down. Their summer school uniform was a plain short-sleeved shirt with two buttons at the neckline, and usually, only one was fastened, as the summer was simply too hot. Although Qiu Shuang was a little confused, she ultimately buttoned the top one. After all, she didn’t want to know the consequences of disobeying an order.
“It’s buttoned.”
“I’m telling you, Qiu Shuang, only one of Chen Wanjun and I can stay.”
Song Ya’s sudden threat made Qiu Shuang somewhat silent, and the appearance of another person perfectly broke the tension.
“Song Ya is right, you should choose between us. Either choose her, or choose me.”
Qiu Shuang really didn’t want to make such a meaningless choice. Anyway, it’s not like she had a choice.
“How about I just play by myself from now on?”
“No! / You can’t…”
After saying this, the two girls exchanged a glance, then both huffed and left, leaving Qiu Shuang alone on the spot.
The school bell rang again, dissolving this meaningless dispute.
Lu Chen didn’t know what had happened, but when she saw the strange atmosphere, she said nothing, just smiled. She probably knew what had occurred and found these few people “interesting.”
Returning to her seat, Qiu Shuang sighed heavily.
In everyone’s eyes, Chen Wanjun, Qiu Shuang, and Song Ya had always been the so-called unshakeable “Campus F3.” But were they really as others imagined?
“What are you doing?”
Qiu Shuang opened her eyes and saw Chen Wanjun sitting by her bed with a gloomy expression. Then she turned her head and saw Song Ya lying next to her, both of them in their school uniforms, sleeping soundly back-to-back on a single dorm bed for the entire afternoon. Qiu Shuang offered no comment on how Song Ya had managed to get into her dorm room.
Chen Wanjun pulled Qiu Shuang up abruptly.
“How could you be hugging her!”
Facing the person she liked, Qiu Shuang wanted to clarify the situation.
“I don’t know, I just fell asleep.”
Chen Wanjun pulled Qiu Shuang directly behind her. Song Ya sat up and smiled, looking at the two of them.
“Why are you always pulling at my clothes…”
Qiu Shuang looked at the other girl with a puzzled expression. Chen Wanjun pulled open Qiu Shuang’s collar, and only after seeing nothing there did she breathe a sigh of relief, then stared intently at Song Ya.
“What’s wrong with us two good best friends sleeping in the same bed? What’s your problem? Are you jealous? Then come up, let the three of us sleep together.”
Heh, Chen Wanjun smiled.
Just as Qiu Shuang was about to speak, the other girl tossed her hand away and walked out.
Qiu Shuang wanted to chase after her, but fell heavily. When she opened her eyes, she was in a strange environment.
She was no longer a high school student; she had arrived in a new environment…
She had dreamed of the other person again.
Her phone, with special attention notifications turned on, was ringing. Qiu Shuang picked up her phone and saw a message from Lu Chen.
Lu Chen: Are you done tidying up? Come down, let’s go check out the cafeteria together.
Qiu Shuang: Mm.
Having a familiar person in the same school made Qiu Shuang relax a little, but she also understood that she shouldn’t always trouble the other girl. She should learn to be independent. Thinking of this, she turned to look at her roommate; it was the first day of school, so she should greet her.
“Chen Jining, I’m planning to walk around the school and familiarize myself with the environment. Do you want to come?”
Chen Jining was sitting at her desk, tapping away on her computer, not even turning her head.
“No need, Junior. I’m a sophomore, and I arrived several days ago. You can go look around by yourself. If you have any questions when you get back, you can ask me. Oh, right, remember to buy sunscreen.”
Qiu Shuang gave an OK gesture, then left the dorm room and closed the door, where she saw Lu Chen already waiting downstairs.
“Sorry to keep you waiting.”
“It’s okay, I just got here myself. But I didn’t expect you to be assigned to this building.”
“What?”
Qiu Shuang looked at the other girl with some confusion, and Lu Chen just smiled, then said.
“Nothing. This building is really nice; it’s close to the cafeteria and the teaching building. Everyone wants to be here. You’re lucky to be assigned directly to this one.”
Lu Chen naturally didn’t say the rest of the words. It was likely that this building required extra money, as everyone in this building was living in the so-called two-person dorms. She didn’t need to overthink who paid the money for Qiu Shuang. After all, besides Song Ya, that nouveau riche, no one else would do such a thing.
However, based on Lu Chen’s observation, Qiu Shuang probably didn’t know that she had received special care, so there was no need for her to point it out. She never liked Song Ya anyway.
Qiu Shuang followed the other girl’s steps, walking around the campus. She was a little afraid in her heart. She knew that Chen Wanjun had also come to this school. She longed to stand in front of the other girl and ask why she had suddenly blocked her.
But she was also afraid to look into the other girl’s cold eyes. Lu Chen noticed Qiu Shuang’s unhappiness but said nothing. After handling the remaining procedures and buying things, the two parted ways.
Lu Chen watched the other girl’s figure walk away and disappear into that building. She knew that the other girl liked Chen Wanjun and only saw her as a friend. She should always guard that line, but she couldn’t stop herself from looking at the other girl’s eyes.
She wanted to smooth out the worry in the other girl’s brows and wipe away her mournful tears, but she didn’t have the right.
She could only watch the other girl walk away, again and again.
“Shuangshuang, when will you finally be happy…”
Chen Jining found the other girl’s state when she returned to be a little strange. The other girl seemed worried about something. Chen Jining wanted to tell herself to look at the other girl with a normal perspective, but her professional knowledge always made her involuntarily start assessing.
“Qiu Shuang, are you alright? You look a little unhappy…”
“It’s nothing, thank you, Senior.”
Chen Jining watched the other girl return to her bed. Her blanket had fallen, and when she reached out to pick it up, the snowy white arm immediately caught her eye, but there was a strange black wristwatch inexplicably on her wrist. Logically speaking, in the current smart era, everyone has a mobile phone to check the time, so why would anyone still like to wear such a strange watch?
Chen Jining thought this junior was a strange person.
Thinking of this, Chen Jining shook her head and continued to listen to the course on her computer. If nothing unexpected happened, she planned to graduate early and go directly abroad for further study. She needed to prepare her study plan.
“I’ll start by studying 12 hours a day and adjust according to the situation later.”
Qiu Shuang’s hesitation did not last long, because what followed was military training, and she saw Chen Wanjun again, as expected.
So, all the questions she wanted to ask were swallowed back into her stomach the moment Qiu Shuang saw Chen Wanjun. Chen Wanjun was also a little surprised to see the other girl. She hadn’t expected the other girl to coincidentally major in the same field as her.
However, 706 was probably enough.
“Wanjun, I…”
“Move.”
The short two words kept Qiu Shuang rooted to the spot. She watched the other girl, wearing her military training uniform, brush past her without even looking back.
Qiu Shuang felt like she was sleepwalking in the following days. She muddled through military training and began formal classes.
Chen Wanjun sat there silently. Qiu Shuang was sitting right behind her. She could feel the other girl’s gaze intermittently sweeping over her. Thinking of this, a feeling of resentment even arose in Chen Wanjun’s heart.
Why did she have to sit behind her? She constantly wanted to turn her head and look at the other girl, but thinking of the decision she had made and those terrible mocking voices, Chen Wanjun could only clench her fists and tell herself never to look back.
The moment she sat down in the classroom, Qiu Shuang felt a little sleepy and wanted to lie down on the desk to sleep. As soon as she lay down, she heard a male classmate behind her say.
“Hey classmate, how can you sleep on the very first day of class? You should study hard.”
This ‘old cadre’ remark made Qiu Shuang a little silent. She continued to lie there, doing as she pleased.
Before she could reply to the classmate behind her, the voice of another boy came, but the following words made Qiu Shuang feel disgusted and somewhat grating.
“She’s a girl, what’s the use of studying? Anyway, she’s pretty, so she can just find a rich guy later, right?”
Hearing this, an unnamable fire ignited in Qiu Shuang’s heart. She was just about to retort when she heard a familiar voice from the front.
A cold voice suddenly interjected.
“Pretty, and just find a man to live the rest of her life with? How do you know so much? Is your dad a sugar baby?”
The boy in the back row stood up when he heard the reply, but was pulled back down by the boy next to him.
“It’s your own big mouth. Apologize to her.”
Chen Wanjun chuckled as she looked at the two boys acting in coordination, then looked at Qiu Shuang, who was silently staring at her. This kind of vulgar, ‘good samaritan’ flirting routine—men are truly disgusting. And why are you always such a magnet for attention?
“Thank you…”
Qiu Shuang looked at Chen Wanjun and sighed. When the class ended, the other girl stood up and looked at her. Qiu Shuang understood what the other girl meant and followed her willingly.
When they reached an isolated corner, the other girl seemed very angry as she pushed her against the wall.
“Why didn’t you talk back? Why aren’t you listening properly in class?”
Qiu Shuang looked at Chen Wanjun with some surprise. Perhaps she sometimes really struggled to understand Chen Wanjun. If she remembered correctly, the other girl seemed to like her pathetic, desperate look as she stared at the other girl, pleading for help, right?
The riddle of love, Qiu Shuang felt she might never solve. She was very good at disguising herself as the appearance that others liked and wanted to be close to.
She had been eyeing this cake for a long time. Even if the jam inside might be sour, what did it matter? At least it looked beautiful.
“Wanjun, if I remember correctly, you hated it most when I studied.”
“What are you talking about…”
Qiu Shuang heard the tremor in the other girl’s voice. She really liked this, tearing off a tiny bit of the window paper quietly in the corner, making the other person mistakenly think she had accidentally discovered something.
Look, you’re scared again. So why did you abandon me? You were the one who broke into my life. Don’t ever leave me… okay?
“Did Song Ya say something to you?”
Qiu Shuang removed the hand that was gripping her arm and looked at the other girl. See? You’re angry. Even so, it still can’t hide your beauty.
“Wanjun, I like you. Can you please like me?”
Qiu Shuang looked at the other girl. Yes, you are a horrible person. You’re afraid of my name climbing to the top spot again. You’re afraid that I’ll take away the only thing you have to stand on, aren’t you?
“Qiu Shuang, can’t we just continue to be good friends like before? Why do you always force me like this!”
