I Heard I’m a Scummy Alpha? [Transmigration] - Chapter 58
After dinner, Huang Momo followed Qi Yunwei and Yan Zui back home.
Dinner had already been prepared by Xiao Jiu. While Yan Zui brought Huang Momo to the table, Qi Yunwei went to Yan Zui’s bedroom to gather the things she needed for the night and moved them into the guest room.
When she finished and came to the dining room, she found the place empty.
“Wow! Xiao Jiu, you’re amazing! I want to make you my baby!”
Hearing Huang Momo’s exclamation, Qi Yunwei immediately understood what had happened.
To this day, no one who met Xiao Jiu had ever managed not to be astonished.
Qi Yunwei smiled. Just as she stepped into the kitchen, she heard Xiao Jiu’s cheerful little voice:
“Sister Momo, Xiao Jiu is so happy you like me. But Xiao Jiu can’t be your baby, because I already have a master and a pretty big sister. We’re the happiest family in the world.”
Huang Momo covered her mouth lightly, her eyes widening in shock. Tugging on Yan Zui’s sleeve, she said excitedly, “My goodness! Xiao Jiu is so smart. She actually talked to me—and in full sentences! She’s incredible!”
“Come, let’s eat first. The food won’t taste good once it’s cold. Xiao Jiu’s cooking isn’t something just anyone gets to enjoy,” Qi Yunwei said with a laugh.
At the sound of her voice, Xiao Jiu’s eyes instantly turned into little hearts.
“Master, master, Xiao Jiu missed you so much.”
“I missed you too.” Qi Yunwei walked over and gently patted Xiao Jiu on the head.
From the side, Huang Momo said, “Zuizui, Xiao Jiu must be an AI robot your company developed, right? When will it hit the market? I really want one of my own. If I had Xiao Jiu, who would need a lousy boyfriend?”
Yan Zui replied, “Xiao Jiu isn’t a Yan Corporation product.”
“Then where did you buy her? Money’s no issue—just tell me quickly!” Huang Momo pressed.
Yan Zui glanced over at Qi Yunwei.
Qi Yunwei only smiled without saying anything.
“What are you two hinting at? I’m asking where Xiao Jiu came from—why look at Qi Yunwei? Don’t tell me she bought Xiao Jiu?”
Xiao Jiu’s eyes grew round and serious as she said in her soft baby voice, “Sister Momo, Master didn’t buy me. Master made me.”
Huang Momo didn’t believe it at all. She gave Qi Yunwei a reproachful look. “How could you feed Xiao Jiu such nonsense?”
Then she clung to Yan Zui again, pouting, “Come on, Zuizui, don’t keep me guessing. Tell me the truth.”
The deep blue of Yan Zui’s eyes softened with a trace of amusement. “Momo, Xiao Jiu’s telling the truth. Yunwei built it with her own hands.”
Huang Momo froze, then pointed at Qi Yunwei in disbelief. “But isn’t she supposed to be a well-known good-for-nothing?”
“Let’s just say I had a sudden breakthrough,” Qi Yunwei answered calmly.
Huang Momo’s hands clenched together. “So, Xiao Jiu really is your creation?”
“Mm. I made her.” Qi Yunwei muttered.
Huang Momo felt even more shaken than when she had caught her boyfriend cheating.
Qi Yunwei—the so-called notorious failure—claimed she had “suddenly woken up” and then went on to create a highly advanced AI robot?!
“Y-you, your company” Huang Momo stammered, her lips trembling. “What exactly does it do?”
“It’s a gaming company. But we also research and develop intelligent devices.” Qi Yunwei replied.
At that, Huang Momo remembered the time at the restaurant when she had hinted to Yan Zui that Qi Yunwei was just freeloading off her. Her face burned with shame. Thankfully, Yan Zui hadn’t taken her seriously.
No—that was wrong. With Yan Zui’s intelligence, there was no way she’d ever let infatuation cloud her judgment and invest in some so-called “seductive consort.” Clearly, Qi Yunwei wasn’t a siren at all—she was a talented general!
“I’m sorry. I misunderstood you.” Huang Momo offered a sincere apology to Qi Yunwei.
Of course. There was no way Yan Zui would be deceived by appearances. She must have seen something bright and extraordinary in Qi Yunwei—that’s why she liked her more and more.
“It’s fine,” Qi Yunwei said, unconcerned. “Let’s eat while we talk.”
Once seated in the dining room, Huang Momo picked up a piece of fish-fragrant eggplant and asked Qi Yunwei, “What does a breakthrough feel like?”
“Like suddenly realizing I can do everything,” Qi Yunwei replied.
Huang Momo blinked, half-understanding. She popped the eggplant into her mouth.
Huang Momo: “!”, her eyes flew wide in amazement.
After swallowing, she gasped emotionally, “It’s so delicious! Did Xiao Jiu really make this?”
“Why don’t you ask her yourself?” Yan Zui said.
“No need. I believe it. Only Xiao Jiu could cook this well. She’s amazing.”
Huang Momo savored every bite, slowly finishing her bowl of rice as if it was a treasure. When she finally set her chopsticks down, she said, “Yunwei, when your company starts selling AI robots, make sure I’m the first to know.”
“Of course.” Qi Yunwei replied.
After dinner, Huang Momo dragged Yan Zui out for a walk. Qi Yunwei followed a little behind, circling the neighborhood with them twice before they returned home.
The moment they stepped inside, Huang Momo announced, “Zuizui, I need a shower—but I didn’t bring any pajamas~”
“I have new ones,” Yan Zui replied.
“Thank you, Zuizui.” Huang Momo gave her a mock hug before happily darting into the master bathroom.
From how familiar she seemed with the place, this clearly wasn’t her first time visiting.
The sun had set, but the air was still stuffy. After their walk, Qi Yunwei felt sticky with sweat. “Go shower in the guest room first,” she told Yan Zui.
“You’re not going? I can wait for Momo. She usually only takes ten minutes.”
“Even ten minutes is uncomfortable. Looks like there’s going to be a thunderstorm tonight. If you sleep early, you won’t have to worry about the thunder waking you.”
Qi Yunwei handed her a towel and nudged her toward the guest bathroom.
She herself went to the window. The moon had vanished behind thick clouds, and the only light came from the flashes of lightning streaking across the sky.
Thankfully, the thunder was still only a muffled rumble—not too loud, not frightening.
When Yan Zui finished her shower, she found the set of sleepwear she had once lent Qi Yunwei during their trip neatly laid out. Without hesitation, she put it on.
After blow-drying her hair, she walked out and saw Qi Yunwei standing by the window. “What are you looking at?” she asked.
“The weather,” Qi Yunwei answered, turning back. “The forecast said light rain, but it doesn’t look like there’ll be thunder tonight.”
For an instant, mist softened Yan Zui’s gaze. “You should shower now. Rest early.”
Qi Yunwei nodded. “Good night.”
Yan Zui returned to the master bedroom. Huang Momo had just finished blow-drying her hair. She paused when she saw the sleepwear Yan Zui was wearing, then circled around her suspiciously, inspecting her from head to toe—just as she had done to Qi Yunwei earlier that afternoon.
“What’s wrong? Is something off with me?” Yan Zui asked, puzzled.
Putting on a knowing expression, Huang Momo leaned close. “Tell me honestly—where did you shower and change?”
So that’s what she was asking. Yan Zui said, “In the guest room. I also changed there.”
Huang Momo clicked her tongue twice. “I didn’t see that sleepwear in the closet earlier. Don’t tell me it belongs to Qi Yunwei?”
Her cheeks flushed. “Zuizui, you didn’t take a lovers’ bath with her, did you? She seems pretty gentle, but your lips aren’t swollen or—mmph!”
Yan Zui couldn’t take it anymore. She clapped her hand over Huang Momo’s mouth. “Don’t let your imagination run wild. I showered alone, and the sleepwear is mine. Nothing happened with Qi Yunwei.”
Realizing she’d pushed too far, Huang Momo quickly nodded.
Only then did Yan Zui release her.
Huang Momo sucked in a big breath—Yan Zui had covered even her nose! She had almost suffocated.
So dangerous—teasing Zuizui could be life-threatening. (cry.jpg)
The two of them lay on the bed together like they used to as children, leaving only the soft glow of the bedside lamp.
Unable to sleep, Huang Momo stared up at the ceiling. “Zuizui, Qi Yunwei doesn’t seem like the person everyone says she is.”
Yan Zui gave a soft “Mm.”
“Have you already forgotten the past? Are you starting to fall for her?” Huang Momo asked.
A flicker of confusion crossed Yan Zui’s eyes. “The way she is now and the despicable person she used to be—they’re like two entirely different people. I do like her.”
Huang Momo rolled onto her side, studying Yan Zui’s delicate profile. “My taste has always been terrible. Every partner I’ve found has been either a scumbag man or a scumbag woman. I won’t meddle anymore. Just follow your heart.
You’ve suffered so much before, never able to be truly happy. But now you’re doing better. Maybe Qi Yunwei really came into your life to save you.”
“Mm. I’ll think about it carefully.” Yan Zui replied.
Huang Momo was just an ordinary Omega. After venting so much anger that afternoon, she was exhausted. Lying beside Yan Zui, she soon drifted off to sleep.
Yan Zui was about to sleep too when a crack of thunder split the sky, lightning flashing through the window. She froze.
Rain poured down in torrents, thunder booming again and again. Yan Zui’s face turned pale—she didn’t know what to do.
In the past, whenever there were storms, she always endured them alone.
But ever since Qi Yunwei had stayed by her side at the seaside, she found she could no longer face her fear by herself.
In the guest room, Qi Yunwei noticed the weather looked far worse than the forecast had said. Instead of sleeping, she busied herself with some work.
When the thunder finally broke out, her heart clenched.
Would Yan Zui be woken? Would she be afraid?
After much hesitation, worry won out.
Since Huang Momo was there, Qi Yunwei couldn’t go directly into the master bedroom. She picked up her phone and sent a message first. If Yan Zui didn’t reply, it meant she was fine.
Qi Yunwei: Are you asleep?
Yan Zui: Momo’s asleep. I’m not.
Qi Yunwei: Are you scared? Want me to come get you to sleep in the guest room?
Yan Zui: Mm.
Qi Yunwei immediately got out of bed, padded to the master bedroom, and quietly eased the door open. Yan Zui was sitting up against the headboard, waiting.
Qi Yunwei walked over. Their eyes met—Yan Zui’s filled with fear. Glancing at the soundly sleeping Huang Momo beside her, Qi Yunwei bent close and whispered reassuringly, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
Then she gently cupped her hands over Yan Zui’s ears, shutting out the thunder outside.
Yan Zui’s expression softened. She slipped out of bed and followed Qi Yunwei back to the guest room.
The next morning, the sun shone bright.
Huang Momo woke, hugged the quilt, and rolled around. “Zuizui, what time is it?”
No one answered.
She opened her eyes—the bed was empty.
Puzzled, she called Yan Zui’s name louder. Still no answer.
She sat up in a rush, checked the bathroom—empty.
She ran through the entire apartment—still no Yan Zui.
Confused, she stood in the kitchen, snacking on something while chatting with Xiao Jiu, who was making breakfast.
“Xiao Jiu, do you know where your pretty big sister is? I can’t find her anywhere.” Maybe she went out jogging? But there was a gym at home.
In its sweet little voice, Xiao Jiu replied, “Right now? It’s not wake-up time yet. Pretty big sister should still be in Master’s bed.”
Clatter! The snack slipped from Huang Momo’s hand and hit the floor.
