Si Xuansu had not expected the words she wanted to say to be snatched away by her. Caressing her, the two explored each other’s bodies, and after bathing together, they stepped out from the hot spring.
Si Xuansu took her sleeping robes out from the wardrobe and placed them before her.
Jiang Yiqing accepted the clothes blankly and began to change. The moment her hand touched her shoulder, her face flushed unpromisingly red. However, it seemed there was nothing to be shy about; after all, she was the one who had invited Si Xuansu to the gentle waters. Having faced each other with total sincerity, she felt as though the two of them were now the closest people in the world.
“Yiqing, if you act like this, I won’t be able to stop myself from attacking you,” Si Xuansu said.
Jiang Yiqing quickly finished dressing, made a playful face, and said, “Then next time, will you help me dress?”
Si Xuansu could not help but feel her earlobes turn red. She took Jiang Yiqing’s hand, gazed at her fixedly, and said, “Fine. In the future, don’t let your hands touch your clothes again.”
Jiang Yiqing hadn’t expected to be flirted with in return. Shyly, she tried to turn her head but only pressed closer against Si Xuansu’s chest. Si Xuansu sat down beside her, her voice almost pressed against her ear as she said, “Yiqing, can you go to a certain place with me?”
Jiang Yiqing thought to herself that it was already so late—where else could they go? But seeing her serious expression, she nodded, nonetheless.
Si Xuansu led Jiang Yiqing to a flower field a kilometer away from Xiangzhu Courtyard; this was also the largest flower field in the General’s Mansion.
The path was long, but with the two of them holding hands, Jiang Yiqing did not feel bored at all. Watching the scenery along the road and gazing at the starry sky above, she would occasionally glance at their joined hands, and time passed quickly.
In this season, the hydrangeas were blooming in great swaths, completely covering the field. The cobalt blue and pinkish-purple flowers merged into a sea of blossoms. Under the deep blue curtain of night, the scenery was magnificent and profound. The sea of flowers echoed the galaxy in the sky; as the stars twinkled, the flowers seemed to nod and sway their heads.
Si Xuansu stepped into the sea of flowers, and Jiang Yiqing followed her in. As the night wind blew through the thickets, a burst of fragrance drifted by. Being amidst the sea of flowers, Jiang Yiqing gradually lost her sense of direction, feeling as though she didn’t know where she was.
However, Si Xuansu was right by her side, which made her feel very safe.
Si Xuansu said, “During this season, the hydrangeas are in full bloom. Yiqing, when summer comes, the sunflowers on this other half of the field will also bloom.”
“Mhm, I didn’t expect you to be interested in planting flowers, Xuansu,” Jiang Yiqing said.
“Because the word ‘Qing’ Clear/Sunny is in your name,” Si Xuansu said. “Every moment I look at these flowers, it feels like I am seeing you.”
Jiang Yiqing had thought that since Si Xuansu was a military commander, she wouldn’t understand romance, but it turned out she was more romantic than anyone.
Jiang Yiqing hugged her waist tightly and said, “Thank you.”
Jiang Yiqing’s train of thought drifted; she only felt the wind singing and the flowers smiling at them. She saw her own reflection in Si Xuansu’s eyes. Aside from her temperature, her words, and her silhouette, she temporarily couldn’t think of anything else.
Jiang Yiqing had heard people say that love might arrive late, but it would absolutely descend upon those who hoped for it. She hadn’t particularly believed it, but now she was certain.
It must have been for the sake of meeting her that she had waited until now.
She believed that Si Xuansu must be feeling the same thing, which was why, at this moment, they were gazing into each other’s eyes.
“Yiqing, I love you,” Si Xuansu said.
She often heard Yiqing say she “loved” this or “loved” that. “Love” must be very common in that world, representing the ultimate form of liking. In ancient times, although the word existed, people did not seem to be good at expressing it.
“Xuansu, I love you too,” Jiang Yiqing responded.
Si Xuansu’s eyes were filled with joy; her bright eyes were the most dazzling stars in the luminous night.
The two embraced tightly in the sea of flowers. Simply doing this didn’t seem quite enough, so Si Xuansu kissed Jiang Yiqing again. Her heart felt slightly aching from being so full, yet the exchange between their lips and teeth was sweet. A shivering pleasure transmitted through Jiang Yiqing’s entire body, and their bodies did not pull apart for a long time.
