I Got Together With the Fake Heiress - Chapter 31
The incident with Qi Qi did not have a significant impact on Wen Yunqing. Aside from the moment she first woke up and paid attention to the so-called plot, she had followed her own feelings ever since.
Otherwise, Wen Yunqing wouldn’t have so directly expressed her affection for Wen Yimeng the moment she saw her, and she wouldn’t have accepted Mrs. Wen’s presence.
Why not accept Wen Han and Mr. Wen? Naturally, their attitudes weren’t correct enough, and their views on certain matters clashed with Wen Yunqing’s.
Since their core values didn’t align, Wen Yunqing naturally wouldn’t invest her emotions in them, only cooperating to maintain the appearance of a family.
“Are you really sure you didn’t do anything to Qi Qi?” After leaving Grandpa Wen’s house, Wen Yimeng couldn’t hold back anymore. “When I saw her yesterday, she actually greeted me normally?!”
“Do you want to hear the truth?” Wen Yunqing asked.
Wen Yimeng nodded. “Of course. I want the whole truth, without a single lie.”
“Actually, the truth is simple. The reason Qi Qi targeted you was because she was possessed by something bad. When we met the day before yesterday, I removed the thing from her, so she became normal,” Wen Yunqing said, simplifying the process.
Wen Yimeng’s first reaction was that Wen Yunqing was talking nonsense, but seeing her serious expression and tone of voice, she subconsciously leaned towards believing her.
“So, this world isn’t a scientific world?” Wen Yimeng asked. She felt like she was going slightly crazy.
Wen Yunqing glanced at the partition raised in the middle of the car. After confirming the driver couldn’t hear the back, she held out her hand directly. “Look, is there anything on this hand?”
Wen Yimeng stared at her hand for a while, then cautiously rubbed it a few times and even pinched Wen Yunqing’s sleeve to see if anything was hidden inside.
“Yes, there’s nothing,” Wen Yimeng finally nodded after three minutes of inspection.
Wen Yunqing clenched her hand in front of Wen Yimeng and asked, “What do you want to appear in my hand?”
“Can I say anything?” Wen Yimeng asked.
“Of course not. Only things that belong to me can appear in my hand,” Wen Yunqing said. Anything in her storage space could be conjured.
“…” Wen Yimeng suppressed the urge to complain and randomly named an object. “I want a stone.”
“A stone, huh.” Wen Yunqing extended her spiritual sense and rummaged through her storage space. After five seconds, she slowly opened her hand. “Does this count as a stone?”
Looking at the obviously valuable jadeite in Wen Yunqing’s hand, Wen Yimeng began to ponder the possibility that Wen Yunqing had prepared it in advance.
After all, an excellent magician performs magic flawlessly without revealing any weaknesses.
“It looks like you don’t believe me,” Wen Yunqing said with a smile.
She then picked up the jade pendant from her hand and placed it in Wen Yimeng’s. Then, she clenched her empty hand into a fist and pulled out a gold bar.
“What about this? I shouldn’t carry this kind of thing on me all the time, right?” The gold bar Wen Yunqing pulled out was quite substantial, weighing about three jin (approx. 3.3 lbs).
“You can conjure a gold bar out of thin air?” Wen Yimeng’s scientific view was crumbling. A piece of jadeite could be prepared in advance, but a gold bar that heavy? Who would carry that on them?
“Not out of thin air. You can think of it as a small spell I know that allows me to carry my possessions with me without being discovered,” Wen Yunqing explained, casually placing the gold bar in Wen Yimeng’s hand.
If her previous life’s storage space lacked anything, it certainly didn’t lack gold and jewelry—so much that she could never spend it all.
Wen Yimeng looked at the jadeite in her left hand, then at the gold bar in her right, and slowly let out a breath.
“Who taught you the spell?” Wen Yimeng asked. With the evidence right in front of her, she had no choice but to believe it.
“When I was little, an old Daoist priest passed by my house. He said I was very destined,” and then he gave me something, Wen Yunqing stated part of the truth with great discretion.
So, it’s a Daoist spell? Was that the art of ‘Qiankun in the Sleeve’ just now? With just that simple sentence, Wen Yimeng had more or less filled in the whole story in her mind.
Suddenly, Wen Yimeng looked at Wen Yunqing differently. “Can I learn those spells you mentioned?”
Wen Yunqing thought for a moment. She had actually examined Wen Yimeng’s constitution long ago. Because Wen Yimeng hadn’t received proper care during her fetal stage, her bones and meridians were somewhat fragile, making her unsuitable for cultivation.
“Yimeng, if you want to learn, perhaps you can study talisman drawing,” Wen Yunqing suggested. “If you practice consistently for a few years, you should be able to achieve a small measure of success.”
“Does learning talisman drawing take a lot of time?” Wen Yimeng asked.
“Practicing for at least three hours a day. If you persist for a year, you should be able to draw useful talismans,” Wen Yunqing said.
Wen Yimeng considered it for five seconds and chose to give up. “Forget it, then. I probably wouldn’t be able to stick to it.” She was only curious about talismans, but she was truly passionate about law. She felt that spending that much time practicing such mysterious things would be better spent memorizing more legal statutes.
Besides, she needed time to process this news. After all, her entire worldview had just been rearranged to some extent today.
After returning from Grandpa Wen’s house, Mr. Wen and Wen Han threw themselves back into work, leaving Wen Yunqing and Wen Yimeng to accompany Mrs. Wen at home.
“I don’t need you to keep me company; you two go out and have fun,” Mrs. Wen said, assessing herself in the full-length mirror. “How do I look in this outfit?”
“Gorgeous!” Wen Yunqing immediately praised.
“Mom, you look like you’re not even thirty in that outfit. You could be my sister if you went out,” Wen Yimeng said with a smile.
Mrs. Wen was very happy with her daughters’ flattery. “I’ll be traveling to other places with my girlfriends these few days. You two go and have your own fun.”
“Oh, right. There’s a charity auction tomorrow. You two go on my behalf,” Mrs. Wen said, taking out an invitation from a nearby drawer. “Yimeng, you know about this, right? Just bid on a couple of items casually.”
Wen Yimeng nodded. Mrs. Wen had taken her to the charity auction last year, so she was familiar with the basic procedures.
After assigning the only task that needed to be done, Mrs. Wen grabbed her bag and left the house looking relaxed.
The charity auction was scheduled for the following afternoon. To ensure the task assigned by Mrs. Wen was completed well, Wen Yimeng dragged Wen Yunqing out of bed early in the morning and took her to a professional styling studio.
Before she could fully grasp the situation, Wen Yunqing was pressed into a seat by the stylist, allowing them to work on her hair with various tools.
“Yimeng, the auction doesn’t start until 3:00 PM. Isn’t it a bit early to prepare now?” Wen Yunqing asked, yawning and feeling amused by the sight of herself in the mirror.
“No, it’s not early. A proper styling takes three or four hours at minimum. It’s nine o’clock now. After factoring in time for eating and commuting, we only have about an hour left,” Wen Yimeng said.
She was already used to being fussed over. She leaned back in the chair after arriving, closing her eyes to rest.
“Misses, would you like to wear gowns or suits?” After finishing their hair and makeup, it was time to choose outfits.
Wen Yimeng compared their figures and her own slightly curled short hair with Wen Yunqing’s, and quickly made a decision. “I’ll wear a dress, and she’ll wear a suit.”
“If possible, let’s choose the same color palette,” Wen Yunqing added. If the colors match, the suit and dress will definitely be a couple’s outfit.
The stylist thought for a moment and asked, “The same color palette might look a bit monotonous. How about considering the simplest black and white combination?”
Wen Yimeng’s looks leaned toward softness, while Wen Yunqing’s carried a sense of heroism. While light colors suited Wen Yimeng, wearing them on Wen Yunqing would accentuate her youth. For a formal occasion, she was more suited to dark colors to appear more mature.
Thinking of her and Wen Yimeng’s identical coats in different colors, Wen Yunqing nodded in agreement. “That works.”
Thus, ten minutes before the start, Wen Yunqing tugged at the slightly tight collar of her tie, allowing Wen Yimeng to loop her arm through hers and lead her into the auction.
Once they sat down in the seats arranged by the organizer, Wen Yunqing could clearly sense that no less than ten people were staring at her.
She could even hear their fragmented whispers, openly discussing her and Wen Yimeng, believing that the two could not coexist peacefully and would definitely compete secretly soon.
“Here are the items being auctioned today. See if there’s anything you like,” Wen Yimeng’s senses weren’t as keen as Wen Yunqing’s, so she couldn’t hear any of the whispers.
“Let me see.” Wen Yunqing withdrew her attention and opened the small booklet in her hand.
After flipping through a few pages, Wen Yunqing frowned slightly. “Why are the starting prices so high for these things? It’s just a pre-owned diamond necklace, and it’s priced at 200,000 yuan?”
“This is a charity auction. Buying things is secondary. The organizer will donate the exact amount of the final sale price,” Wen Yimeng quietly explained.
“Then why not just donate directly? Why bother with an auction?” Wen Yunqing mumbled quietly.
She quickly scanned the booklet. Most of the items were pre-worn jewelry or handbags. The only thing remotely acceptable was the third-to-last item, The Tower, a decent oil painting.
“How about this?” Wen Yunqing pointed to the painting.
Wen Yimeng looked at the starting price—a low bid of 100,000 yuan—and estimated it could be acquired for around 300,000 yuan.
“Okay, and I’ll bid on that necklace,” Wen Yimeng also quickly selected an item to bid on.
Just as Wen Yimeng finished speaking, the auctioneer for the event walked onto the stage bathed in light. She was wearing a long red gown, and her voice was pleasant. “Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. On behalf of the Noah Auction House, I sincerely thank you for attending.”
The female auctioneer then bowed low, revealing her fair, ample bosom.
Wen Yunqing frowned at the sight. There seems to be something wrong with this auctioneer. Why is she smelling a faint musky scent specific to a fox?
