I Got A Girlfriend After Losing My Memory (Transmigration) - Chapter 24
“What’s this?”
Tao Ran met Tang Fuzhi’s questioning gaze and suddenly understood.
She genuinely didn’t know what it was.
Come to think of it, that made sense. Tang Fuzhi had amnesia and understood nothing. Besides, even ordinary people wouldn’t recognize the professional jargon on the packaging.
Tao Ran relaxed into a smile, picked up the medicine from the table, and tossed it back into the trash can. Her tone was light. “What else would be in the trash but trash?”
As she spoke, she cheerfully opened the lunchbox and arranged the food on the table.
Tang Fuzhi nodded, looking only half-convinced.
Something felt off, but Tao Ran’s explanation sounded perfectly reasonable.
Tao Ran casually asked, “Why were you digging through the trash in the first place?” Her voice carried a hint of teasing.
As expected, Tang Fuzhi glared at her, slightly annoyed. To prove she didn’t have any such odd habits, she blurted out her reasoning like spilling beans.
“…So, it just looked familiar, and I figured it couldn’t be anything good, so I took it out to check.”
I wasn’t digging through the trash!
Ah, so that’s what happened.
Tao Ran met Tang Fuzhi’s indignant, puffed-up cheeks and smiled, suppressing a laugh.
Such a silly girl.
But Tao Ran’s words had completely diverted Tang Fuzhi’s attention. She opened her lunchbox, ready to eat.
After a morning of shopping, Tang Fuzhi was exhausted, her stomach growling in protest. If she hadn’t been looking for Tao Ran, she would have been home, full and napping.
Tao Ran seemed to understand this. “Did you have fun this morning?” she asked casually.
At that, Tang Fuzhi’s fatigue vanished. Her eyes sparkled as she eagerly described the beautiful clothes she had seen.
As she spoke, her lovely eyes shone brightly, clearly showing how much she had enjoyed herself.
Toward the end, Tang Fuzhi said regretfully, “I had Xu Rujia take all the clothes home. I can’t show them to you now.” She pouted, looking disappointed.
Having bought new clothes, her first instinct had been to share them with Tao Ran, seeking her approval and admiration.
Tao Ran patted her head gently. “It’s okay,” she said warmly. “You can wear them for me when we get home.”
Though she felt a twinge of annoyance that the girl had enjoyed herself so much with someone else, she couldn’t fault her for still thinking of her afterward.
Tang Fuzhi nodded reluctantly and began to eat her meal in earnest.
Lunch was quickly finished. Tao Ran cleared away the leftovers, blocking Tang Fuzhi before she could leave. “Are you tired? Want to take a nap?”
Tang Fuzhi yawned, her eyelids already heavy and drooping.
She nodded groggily and stumbled into the small back room to lie down.
Perhaps because Tao Ran often used this space, the bed still carried a faint, cool scent of cedarwood, familiar and comforting. Tang Fuzhi drifted off to sleep almost immediately.
In her dream, she sensed a warm presence pressing close against her.
Feeling uncomfortable, she pushed against it, trying to resist.
But the other person was insistent, tightening their grip with each push. Unable to break free, she resigned herself, nestling silently against the soft, warm presence as she sank deeper into sleep.
When Tang Fuzhi woke up, she was surprised to see Tao Ran still there.
She rubbed her eyes, her seaweed-like hair cascading loosely around her. The young woman’s voice was soft and slightly nasal, still drowsy from sleep, her eyes still hazy with lingering sleepiness.
“Why are you still here?”
Tao Ran turned to look at her, her gaze lingering on a patch of snow-white skin. Her eyes froze for a moment before she hastily looked away. “Your clothes…”
Tang Fuzhi blinked, then glanced down at her outfit.
She was wearing Tao Ran’s professional attire: a white V-neck blouse that perfectly framed her delicate collarbones. But now, still groggy from sleep, the collar was disheveled, and two buttons had inexplicably come undone, brazenly revealing the cleavage and the white bra beneath.
Her cheeks flushed hot at the thought of Tao Ran seeing all this. She fumbled with the buttons, her hands trembling as she tried to fasten them.
Remembering Tao Ran was still right there, she glared at her and snapped, “Turn around! Turn around right now!”
Tao Ran rubbed her nose and turned her back, staring at the white wall.
Tsk, not as white as Tang Fuzhi’s skin.
A silent smile tugged at her lips as she listened to the younger woman finally manage to button her blouse, get out of bed, and head to the bathroom to fix her appearance.
After what felt like an eternity, Tang Fuzhi emerged, satisfied that her clothes were presentable.
But the sight of Tao Ran’s outfit made her want to turn around and leave in a huff.
If I’d known, I wouldn’t have worn this couple’s outfit.
Wait, it’s not a couple’s outfit!
Fortunately, Tao Ran heard her footsteps and turned around just as Tang Fuzhi was stomping away in a huff. She quickly grabbed her hand.
“Where are you going?”
Tang Fuzhi’s cheeks puffed out in anger. “Home.”
Home…
Tao Ran smiled suddenly, stepped forward, and pulled Tang Fuzhi into a hug, stroking her smooth, long hair.
Tang Fuzhi stiffened, completely caught off guard by the sudden embrace. The familiar scent of cedar filled her nostrils, just like in her dreams. She stammered, “Wh-what are you doing?”
Their soft bodies pressed close, the faint fragrance of white tea lingering as always. Tao Ran murmured gently, “Okay, don’t be mad anymore.”
“We have two more hours until we get off work. Why don’t you keep me company?”
Tang Fuzhi bit her lip, still awkward about what had just happened, and refused to answer.
After a long moment, Tao Ran released Tang Fuzhi, pressing her forehead against hers. Their eyes met, locked on each other. Tao Ran lowered her voice. “Just keep me company, okay?”
It was rare to see Tao Ran show such vulnerability. Tang Fuzhi glanced away, a little awkward, but nodded anyway.
Tao Ran’s eyes lit up slightly as she took Tang Fuzhi’s hand and led her to the sofa chair nearby.
One worked while the other played on her phone. Though they were in the office, it felt no different from being at home.
Sunlight streamed through the window, bathing the girl curled up on the sofa chair in a warm glow. Her long hair cascaded down her back, giving her the relaxed air of someone lounging in their own backyard.
Across from her sat a woman in a sharp business suit, radiating the aura of an industry elite. She casually flipped through documents on her desk, her signature strokes crisp and efficient. Yet when she occasionally glanced at the girl on the sofa chair, her gaze softened with tenderness, like a pool of spring water.
He Ruo entered to find this scene. She placed the files on Tao Ran’s desk. “President Tao, here are this month’s financial reports.”
Tao Ran tilted her chin slightly and murmured an acknowledgment. Understanding her cue, He Ruo set down the files and turned to leave. Tao Ran’s gaze drifted to the phone on the desk.

Tao Ran picked up her bag and walked over to Tang Fuzhi.
The woman’s shadow fell across Tang Fuzhi’s vision, and she instinctively glanced at the time in the upper right corner of her phone.
“Leaving work already?”
Tao Ran reached out and pulled Tang Fuzhi up from the sofa chair, gently pinching her cheek, which had finally gained a little weight. “Yeah, heading home.”
After playing on her phone for so long, Tang Fuzhi’s arm felt a bit stiff. She straightened up with Tao Ran’s help and massaged her arm.
A tingling sensation spread through her arm.
Tao Ran noticed the girl’s soft gasp and set her bag aside to massage her arm.
During the three months Tang Fuzhi had been bedridden, Tao Ran had learned some basic massage techniques to prevent muscle atrophy.
He Ruo’s teeth ached. She had long suspected Miss Tang wouldn’t stand a chance against President Tao and would eventually be won over.
But she hadn’t expected this. Miss Tang disappears for three months, returns wearing matching couple’s outfits, and now they’re acting like a sickeningly sweet young couple. The progress was shockingly fast.
Tao Ran finally noticed He Ruo still lingering. She glanced up, her eyes conveying a clear message:
Why are you still here?
He Ruo forced a strained smile, quickly opened the door, and left.
A rare chance to avoid overtime and leave early? Why not take it?
Tang Fuzhi relaxed under Tao Ran’s massage, her eyes squinting in contentment. “Your technique is actually quite good.”
Tao Ran’s gaze deepened. “You’ll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy it in the future.”
Seeing Tang Fuzhi was fine, Tao Ran picked up her bag and led her home.
“You know how to drive?”
“Mm-hmm. I got my license in freshman year.”
“Do I?”
“We took the test together.”
As they walked back to the neighborhood, Tang Fuzhi and Tao Ran chatted casually. When they reached their apartment building, Tang Fuzhi looped her arm through Tao Ran’s. “I want twice-cooked pork for dinner tonight.”
Tao Ran thought for a moment. “I think there’s some pork in the fridge. We don’t need to go shopping.” She nodded. “Okay.”
As they rode the elevator to their floor, Tang Fuzhi squinted. She saw an elderly man with silver hair standing outside their door, dressed in a formal Zhongshan suit and leaning on a cane. Despite his age, his back was ramrod straight.
Hearing their approach, the old man turned, his eyes lighting up with a smile when he saw them.
“Tao Ran, Tang Tang, you’re back.”
A family friend? Tang Fuzhi wondered. But Tao Ran’s next words startled her.
“Grandpa, why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”
Tang Fuzhi: Grandpa?!
