I Fall Every Time I Meet an Alpha [Transmigrated into a Book] - Chapter 51
Meng Yuqing spoke weakly, as if she were truly delivering her final words.
Zhong Xiaoxiao thought to herself, “This can’t be right. The villainous female supporting character can’t die that easily, can she? I haven’t even gotten anywhere with the male lead yet, and the villainess is already over?”
Impossible. Absolutely impossible.
“Meng Yuqing, you’re not going to die. Who are you trying to fool?” Zhong Xiaoxiao pinched her cheek, immediately eliciting a pained “Ouch!”
Seeing how pale Meng Yuqing looked, Zhong Xiaoxiao didn’t press further. “Alright, alright, let’s get you to the sofa. The floor’s cold.”
Zhong Xiaoxiao felt the chill of the tiles against her own skin. At the mention of cold, Meng Yuqing suddenly remembered Zhong Xiaoxiao was still in her Heat period, her body weak, she shouldn’t catch a chill. Struggling, she managed to crawl onto the sofa and lay down. No sooner had she settled than she started moaning again, “Zhong Xiaoxiao, I’m dying!”
“You’re not dying,” Zhong Xiaoxiao replied firmly. As Meng Yuqing shifted her head, Zhong Xiaoxiao’s legs were finally freed from under her, bringing instant relief, her legs had nearly gone numb from being used as a pillow.
“I feel awful!.” Meng Yuqing seized this rare opportunity to whine to Zhong Xiaoxiao. “And I’m bleeding.”
Zhong Xiaoxiao stretched her legs and eyed her skeptically. “You didn’t seem too worried earlier.”
“You don’t care about me at all.” Meng Yuqing muttered resentfully.
“…”
Zhong Xiaoxiao glanced at the blood on Meng Yuqing’s hand, feeling a twinge of concern. She got up to fetch the first aid kit and began tending to the wound.
Somehow, Meng Yuqing had managed to slice a fairly long gash along the back of her left forearm. The cut was deep and still bleeding.
A centipede-like scar marred her otherwise snow-white arm, a stark and unsettling sight.
As Zhong Xiaoxiao treated the wound, she poured half a bottle of hydrogen peroxide directly onto it. The liquid fizzed violently upon contact, sending a jolt of pain through Meng Yuqing that nearly sent her over the edge.
“Tsk,” Meng Yuqing gritted her teeth, her face paling further. “Are you trying to kill me with that hydrogen peroxide?”
“It’s for disinfection. Just bear with it,” Zhong Xiaoxiao soothed.
“Little miss, you might as well cut me again,” Meng Yuqing thought to herself.
Lying back on the sofa, Meng Yuqing shut her eyes, refusing to look at her hand. The intermittent stinging sent pulses of pain radiating to her temples, and her breathing grew increasingly labored.
“I really think you should go to the hospital,” Zhong Xiaoxiao said as she bandaged the wound. “I can only do a basic job here, and if it gets infected.”
“It’s fine!” Meng Yuqing murmured, eyes still closed.
Seeing her stubbornness, Zhong Xiaoxiao let it drop. There was no way she could carry Meng Yuqing to the hospital alone anyway.
Once the wound was dressed, Zhong Xiaoxiao cleaned up the broken glass. Noticing Meng Yuqing still lying on the sofa, she quietly slipped back to her room, grabbed her phone, and sent Meng Yuzhou a text: “Meng Yuqing is at my place. She’s hurt.”
Zhong Xiaoxiao didn’t want anything happening to Meng Yuqing under her roof, she couldn’t afford to compensate for someone else’s daughter.
Meng Yuzhou replied immediately: “I’m on my way.”
Relieved, Zhong Xiaoxiao put her phone down.
Meng Yuqing started calling for her again, forcing Zhong Xiaoxiao to return.
“Water…” Meng Yuqing mumbled.
“Alright, hold on.” Zhong Xiaoxiao went to fetch her a glass.
“Here’s the water,” Zhong Xiaoxiao helped her sit up to drink, and Meng Yuqing leaned her body against Zhong Xiaoxiao. Whether it was because Zhong Xiaoxiao was in her Heat period or not, Meng Yuqing found her irresistibly fragrant, her scent utterly intoxicating.
She wrapped both arms around Zhong Xiaoxiao’s waist, burying her face in the crook of her neck to inhale that alluring fragrance. “You smell so good~”
The warm breath tickled Zhong Xiaoxiao’s neck. Holding the water cup in one hand and supporting Meng Yuqing’s waist with the other, she found herself completely immobilized when Meng Yuqing tightened her embrace. Afraid of spilling the water, Zhong Xiaoxiao didn’t dare move too much.
“What are you doing? Let go of me.”
“No, you smell amazing.”
“Are you a dog, Meng Yuqing?”
“Yes, I am, and you’re my juicy bone.”
Drunk on the scent, Meng Yuqing grew bolder. She nuzzled her nose against Zhong Xiaoxiao’s plump cheek and planted a loud kiss. “You’re so delicious, I want to eat you up!”
Zhong Xiaoxiao grimaced at the saliva and shot her a glare. “Are you going to drink or not?”
“Of course, but you have to feed me.”
“Then let me go.”
“I don’t want to,” Meng Yuqing clung tighter, stretching her neck to reach the cup in Zhong Xiaoxiao’s hand.
Exasperated, Zhong Xiaoxiao brought the cup closer to her lips, nearly tipping it into her nose.
“Don’t blame me if you choke.”
Zhong Xiaoxiao looked at Meng Yuqing, thinking she truly resembled a disheveled little bitch.
Hearing herself described as “a disheveled little bitch,” Meng Yuqing choked on the water.
“Slow down, what’s the rush?” Zhong Xiaoxiao scolded lightly as she patted her back.
Meng Yuqing gave her a deep look but said nothing. After finishing the water, she snuggled back into Zhong Xiaoxiao, clinging like sticky syrup.
Zhong Xiaoxiao’s arm grew tired from holding the cup. With a human koala draped over her, she struggled to place the cup on the coffee table.
The system, having watched enough, materialized a small hammer from its space and ding, knocked Meng Yuqing out cold.
Losing all strength, Meng Yuqing slumped forward, nearly toppling Zhong Xiaoxiao.
“Whoa!” Zhong Xiaoxiao barely managed to hold her up before giving way, letting Meng Yuqing collapse onto the couch with a thud.
“Meng Yuqing? Hey, hey!” Zhong Xiaoxiao shook her shoulder anxiously. One moment she was laughing, the next, unconscious? “Wake up! Are you faking or what?”
Seeing her eyes shut tight and unresponsive to shaking, Zhong Xiaoxiao’s mind raced with panic. She grabbed her phone and dialed Meng Yuzhou.
“Hey, Meng Yuzhou, are you almost here?” Her voice trembled with fear, unsure what had happened to Meng Yuqing. “Your sister fainted, I don’t know!”
“Calm down, I’m nearly there,” Meng Yuzhou reassured her over the phone. “She’ll be fine.”
“Okay, okay, hurry!” Zhong Xiaoxiao urged.
Every second watching over the unconscious Meng Yuqing felt like torture. Zhong Xiaoxiao’s heart pounded as she stared at the motionless figure was she dead?
Compulsively, she reached out to check for breath under Meng Yuqing’s nose. A faint exhale! Startled by the warmth, Zhong Xiaoxiao yanked her hand back.
“It’s okay, it’s okay,” she comforted herself. “At worst, she’ll just faint. A villainous female supporting character isn’t that easy to kill, right?”
Zhong Xiaoxiao kept glancing at her phone every few seconds, as if Meng Yuzhou might suddenly pop out of it. Her anxiety grew unbearable, making her pace around the living room before checking the peephole again to see if anyone had arrived.
Though it felt like an eternity to Zhong Xiaoxiao, only about ten minutes had passed. Just as she was about to call again to hurry him up, the doorbell rang.
“!” Startled by the sound, Zhong Xiaoxiao snapped to attention and rushed to the door, peering through the peephole. It was Meng Yuzhou!
She quickly opened the door and said to him, “Hurry, she’s on the sofa!”
Without time to ask what had happened, Meng Yuzhou rushed to the couch. There, he saw his sister collapsed on the sofa, her face pale and her hand wounded. His head buzzed with anger, what had she done to end up like this again?
Zhong Xiaoxiao helped lift Meng Yuqing while urging Meng Yuzhou on. Seeing this, he had no choice but to crouch down and carry her on his back.
As he reached the doorway with his sister, Meng Yuzhou suddenly remembered Zhong Xiaoxiao was in her Heat period. He stopped and said, “You should stay here. I can handle it.”
“But I…” Zhong Xiaoxiao hesitated, worried about Meng Yuqing, yet knowing she wouldn’t be much help if she went along.
“There’s a driver downstairs to assist. It’s not a good time for you, just stay home,” Meng Yuzhou added firmly.
“Alright, then get her to the hospital quickly.” Zhong Xiaoxiao followed them out. “I’ll call the elevator for you. Hurry!”
The elevator was still on the 8th floor. Zhong Xiaoxiao pressed the button to open it, and Meng Yuzhou stepped inside. She hesitated about whether to join them, but seeing him supporting Meng Yuqing with one hand and operating the elevator with the other, she realized her help wasn’t needed. Reluctantly, she stayed behind.
The elevator doors closed, and the siblings descended.
After seeing them off, Zhong Xiaoxiao turned back to the empty hallway, a sudden unease creeping over her. Panicked, she hurried back inside and locked the door.
Once inside, the sense of security returned.
Exhaustion weighed on her, she hadn’t slept much before Meng Yuqing’s disruption.
Heaven help us, I hope she’s alright.
Zhong Xiaoxiao never imagined she’d one day be praying for the well-being of a villainous female supporting character.
Walking back to the sofa, she noticed dark stains on the gray fabric could it be Meng Yuqing’s blood?
The thought of blood made her uncomfortable. She fetched laundry detergent from the bathroom and poured some onto the stains. Soon, the detergent broke down the marks. Wiping them with a tissue, she confirmed it was indeed reddish blood.
Zhong Xiaoxiao stared at the bloodstains, her eyes reflecting the crimson hue. The image of Meng Yuqing writhing in pain on the floor flashed in her mind, it had been too shocking.
Why had she been rolling around in agony? Was she sick?
Had her bipolar disorder worsened? Or had she deliberately hurt herself, cutting her arm, only to collapse in pain from the wound?
No way?!
Zhong Xiaoxiao was startled by her own thoughts.
At least Meng Yuqing had only harmed herself and not come after her!
At this moment, paranoia crept in, and Zhong Xiaoxiao felt it was truly foresighted of her to lock her door before sleeping. Having a mentally ill person in her house was truly terrifying.
On the other side, Meng Yuzhou gazed at his unconscious younger sister, equally lost in thought.
