- I Didn’t Want to Fall, but My Arch-Nemesis Is Just Too Handsome
- Chapter 1 - Since When Did He Have a Husband?
Brain storage facility: Ding! Stored safely, perfectly fine!
“Excuse me, Nurse, when can I be discharged?”
Jiang Xu had always been averse to hospitals; he disliked the scent here. He was hypersensitive to pheromones, and the hospital was saturated with various types, which made his skin sting with every breath.
“Mr. Jiang, you hit your head and have a mild concussion; you need to remain here for observation. If you insist on going home, a family member must sign the release form before the hospital can let you leave.”
The nurse left after removing his IV drip.
Jiang Xu had been filming today when an accident occurred while on the wire rig, causing him to fall from mid-air and strike his head. He was rushed to the hospital for a thorough examination. Apart from the wound on his head, his body was otherwise uninjured.
Feeling that he was in no serious condition, Jiang Xu grabbed his phone and called his manager. “Shi-ge, come to the hospital and sign the papers for me. I want to be discharged.”
“My little ancestor! You have such a huge gash on your head, how can you be discharged now? I will be at the ward in a moment; stay put and behave yourself.”
“I am not used to the smell of the hospital. I want to go home.”
“As your manager, I have to consider your health. I will not sign for you.”
“Then I will ask someone else.”
“Asking your husband will not change anything; he would not sign for you either.”
Wait? !!! Since when did he have a husband?
Jiang Xu struggled to recall, discovering that a section of his memory was incredibly fuzzy. He seemed to be married, and apparently, he had a very loving partner. He frantically flipped through his phone and noticed a frequently contacted number in his call logs.
The saved name was… My Dear.
Today, he had called this number over a dozen times, with each call lasting more than twenty minutes.
Jiang Xu: ?!!!
How did he not know he could be this clingy?
Subconsciously, Jiang Xu dialed the number. The moment the ringing started, his heart leaped into his throat. He had no memory of his new spouse; he did not remember what the other man looked like, nor did he know if he was a good person.
There were too many uncertainties, making Jiang Xu nervous.
“Xuxu!”
An urgent voice came through the receiver, accompanied by the sound of messy footsteps, clearly indicating that the other person was running at full speed.
“Don’t be afraid, just stay in the hospital. I am coming right now.”
When this gentle, refined voice washed over him, Jiang Xu’s emotions instantly settled. He moved his lips and said, “I… I want to go home. The nurse said I need a family member’s signature to leave.”
“Be good, listen to me, and stay in the hospital for now.”
The clear, pleasant voice was so captivating it made Jiang Xu’s heart melt. Who would not be bewitched by a voice like this?
However, why did it sound a bit familiar? It was very similar to the voice of that jerk, Xu Zhiyan.
Could his new spouse be Xu Zhiyan?
Jiang Xu’s pupils dilated in shock.
“Wait five minutes for me; I will be there soon.”
The voice came through again, and this time, Jiang Xu listened very carefully. It was a very tender voice, lacking the inexplicable playfulness or the smug, punchable arrogance that Xu Zhiyan had when talking to him.
It seemed he had misheard; this person was not Xu Zhiyan.
Jiang Xu felt much more at ease. He hung up the phone and lay on the hospital bed, waiting.
The door to the ward was pushed open from the outside. Jiang Xu quickly turned his head to look, but his eyes dimmed with disappointment when he saw the man who entered.
“Why is it you?”
“You… you are actually looking down on me?” Shi Jin was out of breath. “I know you had an accident, so I sped all the way here. I did not see any tears of gratitude, but you should at least show some appreciation. What kind of attitude is that?”
“You would not even sign for my discharge, yet you still want me to be grateful? Keep dreaming!”
Jiang Xu turned to look at him. “Shi-ge, when did I get married?”
Shi Jin froze, then immediately laughed. “Do not play these amnesia games with me. You mention it at least a hundred times a day, saying how you are going to celebrate your 100th day of marriage. You even have the wedding date engraved in your mind.”
“I really do not remember.” Jiang Xu pointed to his head. “My memory has been a bit fuzzy since the injury.”
Shi Jin’s expression changed instantly. He turned and ran toward the exit. “Doctor!”
Jiang Xu: ?!!!
The doctor soon arrived and performed another examination on Jiang Xu. The diagnosis was temporary amnesia due to a head impact; there was no physiological damage, and his memories would gradually return.
Shi Jin still was not reassured. He chased after the doctor, saying, “My Xuxu is very precious; he must not be okay. If this amnesia affects his health, it will also affect his acting career.”
The doctor repeatedly guaranteed that his memory would recover; it was only a matter of time. Only then did Shi Jin heave a sigh of relief. He returned to the ward and looked at Jiang Xu with a long, heavy sigh.
Jiang Xu glanced at him. “Shi-ge, I only have amnesia, not a terminal illness.”
“You still know who you are, right? And you know you are the ‘National Male God’ with tens of millions of fans, right?”
“I remember! I remember all of that!”
“If you remember everything, how can you call this amnesia?”
“I do not remember who my new spouse is. Tell me about him.”
Shi Jin gloated. “Then you are in for it! You have forgotten him only three months into your marriage; for a newlywed couple, this is practically a disaster.”
Jiang Xu: “Now is not the time for you to mock me. Quickly, tell me what happened between us.”
“I cannot help you with that. I honestly do not know who your partner is.”
“As my manager, how could you not know your artist’s relationship status?”
“I want to know too! But you insisted on keeping it a secret, saying that when the time was right, you would bring him out to shock us all.”
“…”
Jiang Xu’s mouth twitched. That idea was a bit overly dramatic.
“How did I suddenly get married? You should at least know that much!”
Shi Jin: “Your pheromone compatibility with him is 100%.”
“That high?!” Jiang Xu was shocked. He had never heard of an Alpha and an Omega having such high compatibility.
Shi Jin: “I was surprised too! With your pheromone grade being so low, I could not figure out how you matched with an S-rank Alpha. But reality is just that unpredictable.”
Jiang Xu’s glands were damaged when he was a child, and his pheromone grade had always been stuck at B-rank with no room for improvement. His scent was exceptionally faint, almost non-existent; he did not even need to use suppressants. To be able to match with a high-ranking Alpha, it must have been a reward from the heavens for his upright character throughout his life.
He had suspected the spouse was Xu Zhiyan just a moment ago, but now that doubt was completely dispelled. Although Xu Zhiyan was also an S-rank Alpha, their compatibility was only 79%; he could not be this high-compatibility partner.
The ward door was pushed open again.
Jiang Xu’s heart tightened; it must be his new spouse!
He turned his head to look in a flash.
When he saw that familiar face, he felt as if he had been struck by lightning.
Xu Zhiyan, how could it be him?
