I Became the Cure for the Cursed Prince - Chapter 150 (FINALE)
Three years later, Charlotte had grown into a child who still lagged behind her older brothers in most areas, but she was exceptionally gifted when it came to language. Whenever she spoke, her brothers, who were ten years older, would clench their jaws and struggle to stay calm.
Today was no exception.
Dea, whose lessons had finished earlier, crouched beneath the window and peeked outside. Andrea had started special training today, and what he saw beyond the glass was anything but normal.
Dea snickered quietly as he spotted Andrea among the knights, focused on his training. Today, Dea was determined to win Charlotte’s heart once and for all.
He had gone out of his way to ask the nanny for a favor and managed to get chocolate made by Georges, the palace’s top chef. Although it was not a particularly difficult treat to make, it was still a rare one. Their father, Lucas, only allowed them to have it once every three days.
Holding the precious chocolate close to his chest, Dea made his way to the greenhouse.
When he opened the door and stepped inside, he saw Charlotte sitting in the flower bed. She looked like a little angel, gently moving her small hands as she decorated the animals’ heads with tiny flowers.
“Can you put one of those flowers on me too?” he asked.
As soon as Charlotte heard her brother’s voice, a bright smile lit up her face. The sight was so adorable that Dea stood still for a moment, completely captivated. Then he quickly came back to his senses and reminded himself of his mission.
“Charlotte, I brought you something really tasty.”
“Hmm? I’m not really that hungry,” she said.
Dea gave her a proud smile and held up the chocolate wrapper. Charlotte’s eyes grew wide with excitement.
“What? Where did you get that?”
“I brought it secretly just for you, Charlotte!” Dea said proudly.
Charlotte’s eyes began to waver. She clearly wanted the chocolate, but it seemed she felt conflicted about breaking what Papa Luca had told them.
Dea grinned and unwrapped one piece, bringing it close to her lips. But Charlotte quickly turned her head away.
“No! I don’t want it! We’re supposed to eat chocolate tomorrow with Andrea, Dea, and Elisha. Eating it alone first is wrong.”
“Ha ha ha! That’s my sister!”
Elisha, who had just come in, clapped her hands as she watched the two of them. She was glad she had made the trip to Taian to see Charlotte again. Even though she was still so small, she was already managing to keep her brothers in line. It was delightful.
Elisha decided it was time to teach Charlotte something very important.
“You see, as a girl, it’s important to be strong. You need to win every fight. Just because they’re your brothers doesn’t mean you have to go easy on them.”
“Okay! I’ll beat Andrea and Dea!”
Lucas and Asili entered the room with warm smiles, watching the children affectionately.
Dea quickly hid the chocolate behind his back.
“As expected of my sister,” Elisha said proudly. “Charlotte, listen. All you need to do is follow what I say.”
“Huh? Why?”
“Because you’re my little sister.”
“But I’m also Andrea and Dea’s little sister.”
“Well, that’s…”
“That’s strange. Why do I have to listen to you but not Andrea and Dea?”
Charlotte tilted her head from side to side, looking genuinely puzzled. Elisha opened and closed her mouth, completely lost for words.
Lucas and Asili burst into laughter at the sight.
After the laughter settled, Lucas looked at Asili and spoke from the heart.
“Thank you for raising Charlotte to be so strong.”
“I only stayed by her side and kept her company. She grew on her own,” Asili replied gently.
“I didn’t understand until I became a father just how hard raising a child truly is. And Her Late Majesty the Empress…”
Lucas paused, then lowered his head and continued with difficulty.
“She wasn’t even able to hold me in her arms while raising me.”
Asili took his hand and gently patted the back of it. She didn’t say anything, but her touch said everything.
Charlotte, watching them, suddenly ran up and clung to Asili’s leg.
“I want to be held too!”
“Of course.”
Just as she had done with Lucas, Asili patted the back of Charlotte’s little hand. Charlotte giggled happily.
Asili traced simple pictures on her palm, then gently massaged each of her tiny fingers. She turned to Lucas and spoke softly.
“I gave one, and in return, I received four. What joy could be greater than this? The Empress has no reason to feel sorry.”
“I didn’t understand until I became a father. Just how hard it is to raise a child. And Her Late Majesty the Empress…”
Lucas paused, lowered his head, and continued with effort.
“She never even had the chance to hold me in her arms.”
Asili reached out and gently held his hand, softly patting the back of it. She didn’t say anything, but the warmth in her touch said everything.
Charlotte, who had been watching quietly, suddenly ran over and hugged Asili’s leg.
“I want to be held too.”
“Of course,” Asili replied with a kind smile.
She patted Charlotte’s little hand just as she had done with Lucas. Charlotte laughed, happy and comforted.
Asili traced small shapes on her palm, then gently pressed and rubbed each of her fingers like a soft massage. Looking up at Lucas, she spoke in a gentle voice.
“I gave one, and received four in return. What greater joy could there be? The Empress has nothing to feel sorry for.”
She lifted Charlotte onto her lap. Though Charlotte had gotten heavier, she didn’t try to move away. She pressed her cheek to Asili’s and kissed her softly. The simple movement felt sacred, filled with pure affection.
Lucas suddenly realized something. He finally understood why Asili was so drawn to holding Charlotte close.
It was because Charlotte carried the scent of Leon as a child.
Lucas gently wrapped his arms around Asili and Charlotte, holding them both tenderly. He didn’t say it out loud, but his heart spoke clearly.
Charlotte, you are helping me pay back a very old debt.
Charlotte looked up at him. Her golden eyes, so much like Leon’s, sparkled brightly. It felt as if her eyes held the entire world. The love she gave could not be put into words.
That night, the triplets fought over who would get to sleep beside their little sister. It was a daily occurrence, so no one was surprised or worried. Charlotte was clever and full of love, always finding a way to keep everything balanced.
While her siblings argued, Charlotte quietly stroked Loulou’s back without saying a word. Then she gently placed the stuffed animal down and looked at them with a serious face.
“I’m going to sleep with my dads.”
Dea and Andrea’s faces fell with disappointment. Elisha raised her brows sharply.
“Charlotte, I think you still don’t understand because you’re a baby.”
“I’m not a baby.”
“Then all the more reason why you shouldn’t sleep with our dads.”
Charlotte, who had been so ready to argue, blinked in confusion.
“Why not?”
“Because grown-ups have things they need to do together.”
“What kind of things? I want to do it too. We can all do it together. Nicely.”
Elisha had no idea how to answer.
To change the mood, Dea picked her up and spun her around in circles. She had gotten heavier, but Dea was strong enough to lift her easily.
“See? Our dads don’t do this with you because they’re afraid you’ll get hurt. But we’re fun to play with. Isn’t that better?”
“Hmm. That’s true.”
“Then come sleep with us.”
Charlotte nodded, no longer insisting. Thanks to Elisha, who quickly suggested they all sleep together, Lucas and Leon were finally able to have a quiet night to themselves.
After checking that the children were asleep, Leon returned to their bedroom. Lucas was already fast asleep. He had been working day and night preparing for the upcoming diplomatic event hosted by the empresses of several nations. It was no wonder he was exhausted.
If it had been any other day, Leon might have let him sleep longer. But it had already been a week of doing nothing, and the sense of urgency was beginning to grow.
He got onto the bed, slowly removing his clothes, and gently woke Lucas.
Lucas stirred and turned away, mumbling in a tired voice,
“Leon, don’t you think it’s time to settle down a little? We can’t stay like newlyweds forever.”
“If we really were newlyweds, I wouldn’t have lasted a whole week.”
“Let’s just sleep for today…” Lucas began, but he seemed to drift off again mid-sentence.
Leon wrapped his arms around him from behind and whispered softly near his ear,
“For me, sex isn’t something that fades with time.”
Lucas remained still, half-asleep, as Leon continued.
“It’s not just desire. It’s a way to show what we feel inside. When my heart beats faster and my blood starts to rush, it makes me feel like you’re a part of me.”
Lucas slowly turned to face him. Sleep still lingered in his eyes, but he was trying. He heard the sincerity and was doing his best to respond.
Leon looked down at him gently and pressed a kiss to his forehead.
Soon, Lucas’s soft and steady breathing filled the room again. He had fallen back asleep.
In those quiet breaths, Leon could feel time itself. The breath carried their acceptance of fate, the struggles they had overcome, the deep love that only grew stronger with the years, the hope for their children’s future, and the life they still had ahead of them.
Maybe love was about sharing time and breath. Maybe it was about making peace with the pain, building something greater, caring for others, raising children, preventing war, making love, and giving life. A joyful and meaningful life, one they lived fully.
Leon believed that first love did not fade. It simply softened and became deeper and more enduring with time.
“It’s amazing,” he whispered. “All I’m doing is watching you breathe, and yet…”
A wave of emotion rose in his chest. His body relaxed as the urgency faded.
He only wanted to hold Lucas gently, let him sleep peacefully, and when morning came, give him something warm and comforting to eat.
“What are we really?” he murmured. “What am I to you? A priest, a son, a husband, a lover, a friend, a neighbor, family? Sometimes it feels like we are everything to each other. There are even moments when I feel like I gave birth to you.”
Even in sleep, Lucas let out a quiet laugh, as if he couldn’t hold it in any longer. He wrapped his arms around Leon’s neck and pulled him close, offering a warm reply.
“I feel the same. We are priests and sons. We are husbands, lovers, friends, and family. We’ve done well in every role. And I believe we always will.”
His words echoed softly in Leon’s ears like a song.
“Please let me play forever with the fairy I saw in the birch forest.”
“Was that your wish when you were little?” Lucas asked with a smile.
“Yes. I even prayed that if it was a dream, I would never wake up.”
“And now your forever has become eternity.”
Leon listened to the soft laugh that came from deep in Lucas’s chest. His body filled with warmth.
He leaned down, gently covering Lucas with his own body, and kissed him deeply, letting his full weight press into the kiss until Lucas’s lips turned red.
The faint taste of vanilla lingered between them. It was sweet enough to drive him mad.
The End.
