I Became the Cure for the Cursed Prince - Chapter 108
Rai was animatedly recounting everything that had happened in the Theian Empire, throwing in wild exaggerations, while Jerry giggled and eagerly agreed with every word.
“That Rai, honestly…”
Leon shook his head and stepped inside. Startled, Rai quickly backed away, and the other animals let out joyful cries. Each of them was expressing just how much they had missed them and how happy they were to be reunited.
After warmly greeting the animals, Leon found a spot surrounded by the prettiest flowers and helped Lucas sit down there. Then he walked into the flowerbed.
The garden was still as beautiful as ever. The green leaves seemed even more vibrant, and the white and yellow flowers were in full bloom.
Leon closed his eyes for a moment, breathing in the familiar scent that he had missed so much.
There, underneath the vines climbing along the wall, a single white flower was blooming.
“It’s here again,” Leon said as he moved closer to pick it.
Watching him, Lucas smiled and said,
“Flowers drop their seeds into the ground and grow again all on their own.”
Leon turned back to Lucas with a smile, holding the flower gently.
“Maybe the flowers bloom even better because you’re the one taking care of this greenhouse.”
He laughed softly and added,
“It’s already been ten years since I received a flower like this from you.”
Just like he had done back then, Leon approached Lucas and knelt down on one knee.
“A ten-year-old love that’s been quietly growing… Will you finally accept it?”
Lucas smiled shyly, almost like a young boy, and took the flower.
At that very moment, music began to drift toward them.
Both Leon and Lucas froze, holding their breath as they listened.
The sweet melody of string instruments filled the air, and after a moment, the sound of brass instruments rose powerfully.
Lulu ran over and wrapped her tail around Leon’s ankle.
<Sounds like they’re practicing the wedding march! I’ve been hearing it nonstop for days!>
Leon burst out laughing.
<Look at them, they’re getting married!>
Lulu’s teasing made the other animals crowd around, joining in the playful banter.
Leon laughed and said,
“Thank you, everyone.”
Lucas, who couldn’t understand the conversation, asked,
“I don’t know what they’re saying, but… somehow, I’m feeling really embarrassed.”
Leon chuckled and explained,
“Lulu said the music we’re hearing is our wedding march. And now they’re all teasing us.”
“…No wonder the music felt so grand,” Lucas muttered.
He slipped the flower he was holding into the pocket near his heart and breathed in its scent deeply.
In the only place in the cold North where sunlight lingered—the greenhouse—Lucas, holding a flower filled with Leon’s pure love and being celebrated by their dear companions, felt happiness so real it was almost unbelievable.
As the music began to fade, Leon leaned in and whispered softly into Lucas’ ear,
“I can’t wait to hear it properly at the ceremony.”
For a month, snow had fallen constantly, and everyone had worried.
But strangely, just a few days before the wedding, the snow stopped.
The people of the Rion Duchy all said it was thanks to the blessing of Lucas Rion, the former Duke, and praised him wholeheartedly.
Thanks to the clear weather, the wedding could proceed without any trouble.
As Lucas walked hand-in-hand with Leon, he took in the scenery around him with new eyes.
Everything looked familiar, yet somehow distant.
When Kim Woo-jin had died, he had wished to be reborn somewhere warm, surrounded by love.
Instead, he had found himself in the frozen North.
The endless snow and the biting cold that once felt so suffocating—now, walking with Leon, even those things felt precious.
A small laugh escaped from his lips without him realizing.
Leon, catching the sound, leaned in and whispered,
“I’m so nervous my mouth is dry, and here you are laughing.”
Leon’s hand brushed lightly over Lucas’ backside.
“Leon, keep your hands off my butt when you say that,” Lucas said, teasing.
Leon replied shamelessly,
“I’m just too nervous…”
Lucas laughed again.
Thanks to Leon, all the complicated, heavy thoughts that had weighed him down since stepping into the wedding hall had simply melted away.
“Becoming Crown Princess, and later Empress, won’t change you,” Leon said quietly, holding Lucas’ hand firmly.
“Just like you strengthened the North, you’ll make the Theian Empire stronger too.
So don’t worry.”
Lucas nodded. Those words brought him more comfort than anything else.
When they finally stood before the officiant, Leon immediately pressed a kiss to Lucas’ cheek.
“Ahem… Let’s start with the blessing…”
Seeing Leon’s intense gaze, the officiant quickly shortened the long speech he had prepared.
Lucas smiled brightly.
And as soon as the blessing ended, Leon kissed him again—this time, full on the lips.
Even as the guests erupted into cheers, Leon refused to pull away.
Lucas accepted the soft, tender kiss—but suddenly, a strange nausea welled up inside him.
What’s happening? Am I too nervous?
The familiar scent, usually so comforting, now felt overwhelming, almost suffocating.
But he couldn’t possibly gag during the wedding kiss!
Clenching his fists so hard that his nails dug into his palms, Lucas fought to hold on.
Finally, Leon pulled away, and Lucas gasped, coughing a little as he finally caught his breath.
The guests chuckled and whispered, saying it seemed the kiss had just taken their breath away, or that the two were already so passionate it was almost scandalous.
“…Lucas, are you okay? You’re so pale,” Leon asked, worried.
“I’m fine. Just nervous, that’s all,” Lucas replied, forcing a small smile.
Seeing the pale color of Lucas’ face, Leon felt a heavy pang of guilt.
It was no wonder Lucas looked like that—Leon had kept him awake night after night right up until their wedding day.
As they turned to walk back down the aisle, the wedding march began to play once again.
Hand in hand, they retraced their steps.
Lucas stole a glance at Leon’s face.
There was a shadow of worry across his slightly stiffened expression—the same look Leon often wore whenever Lucas was struggling with his curse.
Lucas already felt sorry for having made Leon worry so many times before. He couldn’t let him continue worrying, especially not on their wedding day.
He tried to lighten the mood with a casual tone.
“The nights are long in the North, and there was so much snow. We were just doing what any married couple would naturally do.”
Leon cupped Lucas’ cheek gently and leaned in for another kiss.
A strangely richer scent of vanilla filled Lucas’ nose—deeper, sweeter, more intoxicating than ever.
He couldn’t bring himself to pull away.
It wasn’t until after the banquet that they finally had a moment to relax.
Entertaining all the nobles from various countries had left them starving—their stomachs practically glued to their backs.
When they returned to their room, they found that Sion had prepared a small table for them.
On it were freshly baked bread, soup, and a small portion of meat.
“I didn’t even realize how hungry I was until now,” Lucas said.
“Same here. I finally understand why people say the food at a wedding tastes like old bread,” Leon chuckled.
They each took their seats and picked up their spoons.
But as soon as Lucas took his first spoonful of soup, he grimaced.
The soup he had always enjoyed tasted strangely fishy today.
Lucas glanced at Leon, who seemed perfectly happy, even licking the soup from his lips.
Is it just my mouth that’s acting weird? That shouldn’t be possible…
Seeing Lucas tilt his head in confusion, Leon asked,
“Why aren’t you eating? Is your stomach still upset?”
“…I think I might have indigestion,” Lucas replied.
Leon dropped his spoon with a sharp clink.
Even though Lucas had recovered and was now healthy, Leon couldn’t shake off his worry.
Lucas had a body hardened by battles and freed from the curse, but he was still a recessive omega. It was possible that, like other recessive omegas, his body had weakened without the curse’s influence.
“Wait here. I’ll call the physician.”
“You really don’t need to—” Lucas began, but he couldn’t finish his sentence.
Instead, he gave a sheepish smile.
However, there was no strength behind it.
Leon found the sight of him so frail unsettling and frightening.
They had just barely escaped the nightmare of the curse.
They had just finally gotten married.
From now on, it was supposed to be happiness—only happiness.
Leon couldn’t bear the thought of losing Lucas again.
Without another word, he rushed out of the room.
Lucas tried to stop him, saying he should at least eat something first, but Leon’s anxiety wouldn’t let him delay even a moment.
Leon ordered the attendants to fetch the physician immediately and hurried back inside.
Lucas was sitting far from the food now, with the windows wide open despite the cold.
“…You’re really, okay?” Leon asked, worried.
Lucas forced a smile.
“Of course. It’s nothing.”
Leon smiled back, trying to hide his fear.
He could only hope they would still be able to leave for their honeymoon tomorrow as planned.
Leon’s throat felt dry with tension.
The physician’s expression during Lucas’ examination did not look promising.
Leon had already performed a basic check himself before the doctor arrived but hadn’t found anything seriously wrong—only a general weakness.
Then why is it taking so long?
Why does the doctor keep looking so puzzled?
“This is… quite strange,” the physician finally muttered.
“…Is it serious?” Leon asked, his heart sinking.
“No, not serious… but… well…”
The physician hesitated, glancing uneasily between Leon and Lucas.
“You see, even though Lucas is a recessive omega…”
A terrible thought flashed through Leon’s mind.
Normally, a recessive omega couldn’t bond with a dominant alpha like himself.
If Lucas hadn’t possessed such a strong body and the ability to stabilize Leon’s energy, it would have been impossible.
Even so, the bonding still carried risks—risks Leon now feared they had underestimated.
I should have been more careful…
While Leon cursed himself silently, the physician examined Lucas again.
“Normally, bonding can be harsh enough to endanger life, but it doesn’t usually result in pregnancy,” the physician said slowly.
“I know that much,” Leon replied tightly.
“Yes, of course. However…”
The physician let out a soft, awkward laugh before continuing seriously,
“After checking several times, I’m certain—Lucas is pregnant. Congratulations.”
“…What?”
Leon stared at him, utterly speechless, his mouth hanging open.
Lucas, who had been lying quietly in bed listening, shot upright in shock.
“Pregnant? That’s impossible!” Lucas exclaimed.
“Normally, yes,” the physician admitted, chuckling again, “but no matter how many times I check, the result is the same. Congratulations.”
