I Am Being Raised by a Cat - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Cheng Yue followed the movement and looked up.
Long, straight, and slender legs were wrapped in black fabric; the man wore a black shirt and a trench coat, with the top buttons of the collar undone, appearing somewhat casual and indolent.
The man’s thin lips were slightly pursed, and his jawline was pulled extremely tight. The moment he saw the youth’s face clearly, his eyes turned into golden vertical slits.
The assistant was startled. He saw the usually calm and self-possessed Cheng Shang’s figure actually sway for a moment; he seemed to step forward with urgency, only to stop himself with forced restraint.
The tall man crouched down halfway, his golden beast-like pupils staring fixedly at the youth inside the iron cage. Adam’s apple bobbed up and down, and his voice sounded very hoarse, yet he deliberately kept it very soft. “Cheng Yue?”
The youth’s body gave a shudder. He didn’t make a sound; like a frightened little hamster, the head he had just poked out quickly ducked back down.
The man’s breathing was somewhat rapid, and the hand hanging at his side clenched slightly.
He was silent for two seconds before slowly standing up, his expression returning to calm. “My thanks to you two for helping me find him. Xiao Fang, take these two to the guest room; I will be over shortly.”
“Understood. This way, please.”
The two police officers were overjoyed. They hadn’t expected to “hit a dead rat like a blind cat” to actually succeed. Just a bit of a reward leaking from between Governor Cheng’s fingers would be enough to make them wealthy.
Once everyone had left, the man lowered his eyes, looking at the small ball huddled inside the cage. His thin lips pursed slightly, and he raised his hand to touch a button on the side of the cage.
With a “bang,” the iron cage opened.
But the youth trembled even more violently.
The man said in a low voice, “Cheng Yue, come out. You’re wearing too little.”
Instead of moving, the youth shrunk back further, scooting toward the interior.
The man was habitually cold-blooded and ruthless, decisive and swift in dealing with most people and matters, but he could not be so toward the person before him.
The black fabric of his trousers stretched as Cheng Shang actually knelt down on one knee.
He reached his hand toward the cage, wanting to pat Cheng Yue gently to coax him, thinking he had been frightened on the way there. He didn’t expect this gesture to cause the youth to react as if he were having a stress response.
Cheng Yue gripped the iron bars tightly, desperately hiding in the back, thinking the man was going to drag him out to eat him. All the mental preparation he had made along the way completely collapsed.
Wah! Even if he didn’t want to live anymore, he didn’t want to be eaten!!
“A-Shang, you heartless, stinking cat! You’re repaying kindness with enmity!! I saved you and yet you want to eat me! I even bought you so many cans of cat food!!”
While dodging, Cheng Yue screamed with his eyes squeezed shut.
Cheng Shang was left somewhat at a loss by this display.
He didn’t even dare touch him, only explaining in a low voice, “No, how could I eat you? I will deal with those who bullied you. It’s cold inside; come out, okay?”
Cheng Yue was nearly numb from the cold.
He sniffed, and when he looked up to say something more, he met the man’s golden pupils.
Those were A-Shang’s eyes.
Sensing the youth’s attitude softening, the man coaxed him, “I am A-Shang, Cheng Yue. I have looked for you for a very long time. Be good, come out. I’m taking you home.”
He didn’t know which word moved him, but Cheng Yue’s eyes shifted, the tip of his nose turning a bit red. He paused for several seconds before saying softly, “Then stay further away.”
Cheng Shang felt somewhat helpless, but he stood up as requested and moved a bit further back.
The youth came out sluggishly, and a coat was immediately draped over him. He was still a bit dazed; he tilted his head, but before he could say anything, he was suddenly swept up and carried by the waist.
Cheng Yue let out a cry of surprise. He hadn’t realized while inside the cage, but the man’s build was actually so tall he looked to be about two meters. Being carried in the man’s arms, he felt like a small child.
Before the youth could struggle, Cheng Shang explained, “You are frozen through. I’ll walk a bit faster so we can get back quickly.”
Cheng Yue bit his lip and turned his head away, ceasing his movements.
The villa was very large. The moment they stepped into the house, the chill on his body was driven away. The man carried him to the sofa, and immediately a round-headed, round-bodied robot approached carrying a water cup.
Cheng Yue had never seen such high-tech equipment. He was a bit surprised and tentatively reached out to touch it. The robot handed him the water cup and then actively poked its head toward him.
[Hello, I am No. 84.]
The youth blinked. “84 Disinfectant?”
The man said warmly from the side, “This is a domestic robot. You can give him a new name.”
As soon as he heard the man speak, Cheng Yue immediately went silent.
The man paused, then said in a low voice, “There are rooms upstairs. Do you want to go take a bath? I’ll call someone to deliver a meal so you can eat something.”
The youth sat quietly, not moving and not speaking.
Cheng Shang raised his hand, wanting to rub his head, but the youth dodged away rapidly. The man’s hand froze in mid-air, and after a few seconds, he retracted it.
Cheng Shang coughed slowly. “I’ll go call for the meal delivery.”
Wait until the man turned and left, Cheng Yue then lifted his head, staring at his back for a few seconds before looking away. He touched the robot’s smooth round head again and asked, “Can I call you Disinfectant?”
The robot’s voice sounded a bit shy. [Can it be a bit cuter?]
Cheng Yue thought hard for a moment. “Xiao Xiao?”
[Yay!] The robot’s voice became high-pitched and cute.
While Cheng Yue was playing with the robot here, on the other side, the man went out to make a phone call for the food. However, he didn’t rush back; instead, he turned and walked into the basement.
Different from his gentle words and soft voice in front of the youth, the man’s face was terrifyingly gloomy. His military boots stepped on the stairs one by one, and the overhead light was somewhat dim, flickering across the man’s face.
The sound of a very heavy door “creaked” open.
The two police officers who were supposed to be in the guest room were now on the floor, their arms twisted and bound behind their backs.
The assistant, Fang Cheng, was to the side and handed over a pair of white gloves.
The man put them on slowly and methodically.
The two men were already shivering with terror. “Officer, what are you doing?”
Cheng Shang looked down at the two men kneeling on the ground. “How was the person delivered? Who thought of the method of locking him in a cage?”
Even an idiot should have understood by now.
One of them immediately turned on the other. “It was him! He even fed that person a sedative! He was also the one who said… said you wanted to eat that ordinary human, so we did that.”
Cheng Shang smiled faintly. “So good at speculating on my thoughts?”
His tone held a smile, but his actions were ruthless. He kicked one of them in the chest, then immediately stepped on his head, grinding down with force.
With a slight raise of his hand, Fang Cheng behind him immediately took out a document and began to read it out in a matter-of-fact tone.
It was all information regarding the bribes these two had accepted over the past two years.
The two men’s faces instantly turned ash-grey.
“Knowing he is my person, yet you dared to drug him and lock him in a cage, scaring him like that… how many lives do you have to pay for this?”
Cheng Shang bent down, grabbed the other person’s collar, and slammed him hard against the wall.
The man let out a miserable scream.
Once, twice the man’s head was slammed until it was a bloody mess, even leaving a dent in the skull.
Blood splattered everywhere, but Cheng Shang’s expression remained calm from beginning to end.
Finally, he loosened his grip slightly, and the man’s body slumped to the ground like wet clay. The other person had long since wet his pants in fear, with tears and snot flowing together.
The man tilted his chin up, his tone cold without a trace of warmth.
“Dispose of them both.”
Fang Cheng immediately nodded. “Yes.”
Cheng Shang took off the gloves and tossed them casually to the floor.
The immense joy of recovering what was lost still left him feeling a bit unanchored. If he hadn’t been in such a hurry to dispose of these two, he wouldn’t have left Cheng Yue’s side for even a single step.
Hi.
Master.
