Husband, Let Your Husband Treat Your Illness - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Unintentionally, the two of them actually slept on the bed for four or five hours. When Ye Mo woke up, he saw Dongfang Jin still sleeping beside him and thought to himself: Does this man not need to work? Is he an employee of this hospital? Thinking of this, doubt crept into Ye Mo’s heart had he invited a useless person to the hospital? He even began to wonder if he had truly been rescued by this person.
Ye Mo turned his head and scrutinized the man before him. Suddenly, he felt that the man was actually quite handsome, with well-defined features carrying a hint of coldness. Deep-set eye sockets held a pair of beautiful, large eyes, and a pair of sword-like eyebrows extended into his temples, giving his brow a very heroic air. He became so entranced that he didn’t notice Dongfang Jin had already woken up.
“If you keep looking at me like that, I’ll get embarrassed,” Dongfang Jin suddenly said, giving Ye Mo a huge fright. Seeing that he had been caught red-handed, Ye Mo hurriedly turned his head away, a layer of crimson flushing across his face. He closed his eyes, pretending to continue sleeping.
“I saw everything, so stop pretending to sleep.” Dongfang Jin still clung to Ye Mo like a rogue, taking advantage of the fact that Ye Mo currently couldn’t get up.
“I say, don’t you have work to do? I really don’t know what the hospital hired you for,” Ye Mo said with his eyes closed.
“The only reason I’m at this hospital is because of my superb skills. You don’t need to doubt that; otherwise, you wouldn’t be lying here in one piece.” Dongfang Jin didn’t forget to remind Ye Mo that it was he who had rescued him.
Looking at Dongfang Jin’s manner, Ye Mo didn’t want to speak anymore and fell back asleep. Dongfang Jin kept his gaze on the man in front of him, never looking away for a second. He completely failed to notice the two people outside the VIP ward watching the scene unfold.
“Old Eighth, have you ever seen a boss like this? So ‘little-bird-leaning-on-a-person’ (clinging)! Is this still our Big Brother who could perform surgeries for four days and nights straight without closing his eyes?” Dongfang An said.
“How should I know, Fifth Sister! All I know is that if we keep watching here and Boss finds out, we’ll definitely be in for it,” Dongfang Yongxiao said.
“But they look like that… I’m too embarrassed to disturb them. That atmosphere—I’m feeling so shy!” As Dongfang An spoke, she touched her own face, making a cute expression.
“Fifth Sister, don’t do that. I’m about to throw up.”
“You brat, what did you say!” The two began to bicker at the door. Little did they know that Dongfang Jin had already seen them. He said, “What are you two doing?” A single, light sentence made Dongfang An and Dongfang Yongxiao’s heads feel like they were exploding.
“Big Brother, we just came to see you. This is the tonic soup Eldest Aunt simmered; she wants you to drink it,” Dongfang An said quickly.
“Yeah, Big Brother, you performed surgery for over four hours today; you should nourish yourself properly.”
“Since when did I become so fragile?”
“Then why are you lying on the patient’s bed? This person… could it be, Sister-in-law?” Dongfang An said curiously.
Hearing Dongfang An use such an explicit term, Dongfang Jin quickly pulled the two out of the ward. “Your Sister-in-law just went through a car accident and needs rest. Don’t make a racket in the room.”
“Sister-in-law! Big Brother! You’re something else! How much time has passed, and you already have a Sister-in-law? Or is this just one-sided love on your part, has the other person even agreed?” Dongfang Yongxiao was quite sharp; he saw through it instantly—this was a one-sided affair.
“If you don’t want to lose the chance to hold a scalpel again, then shut your mouth. I’ll win them over sooner or later,” Dongfang Jin said righteously. Watching their Boss’s expression, Dongfang An and Dongfang Yongxiao saw a look of absolute determination, as if the person on the bed was his true destiny.
“Boss! Good luck! We all support you!” Dongfang An said.
“Alright, you’ve delivered the soup, so why aren’t you leaving? Is being a ‘lightbulb’ (third wheel) that much fun? Also, you’re not allowed to tell the family. If you two blab, don’t blame me, your Big Brother, for being ruthless.” Seeing that Boss was about to kick them out, they realized that after being a freelance doctor abroad for so many years, even his temper had soured. They really wondered how he could be so gentle toward the person on the bed.
“Fine, fine, fine, we’re leaving right now.” Seeing their Boss’s expression, Dongfang An and Dongfang Yongxiao understood immediately and slipped away as fast as they could.
Once Yongxiao and An’an had left, Dongfang Jin walked into the ward. After setting the soup down, he tried to get onto Ye Mo’s bed again. Unexpectedly, he hadn’t been up there for a moment before Ye Mo kicked him off. “Get the hell away from me!”
Caught off guard, Dongfang Jin fell to the floor. He wondered how Ye Mo’s injured body could have so much strength. Dongfang Jin was still puzzled. Everything had been fine just a moment ago, so why the sudden kick?
In fact, Ye Mo had heard the entire conversation between Dongfang An and Dongfang Yongxiao. Other things were fine, but when Dongfang An said the words “Sister-in-law,” an uncontrollable rage erupted in Ye Mo’s heart. He was a grown man; how could he allow someone to call him Sister-in-law!
So, as soon as Dongfang Jin got on the bed, he was kicked off by Ye Mo.
Dongfang Jin stood up, rubbing his buttocks, and said, “Mo, what’s wrong? Weren’t we just fine? Why the sudden change of face?”
“Sister-in-law! Sister-in-law my foot! I’m a man! And! I don’t like men! Get lost!” Ye Mo’s hair was standing on end (he was fuming); he let out a roar at Dongfang Jin. “What sins did I commit in my past life? If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have kissed a man for no reason. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have gotten into a car crash. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be called a Sister-in-law!” After Ye Mo finished speaking, he lay back on the bed, panting heavily as if he had used up a great deal of strength.
“So that’s what it is. I’ll just tell them not to call you that in the future. Don’t be angry; in your current state, you can’t get angry. The wound will bleed,” Dongfang Jin said. “Let me see your wound. Oh no, it really is bleeding. Let me give it emergency treatment.” Dongfang Jin’s face was full of worry and doting affection. He soothed Ye Mo, then opened Ye Mo’s clothes to look at the bleeding wound and performed a simple emergency treatment.
Ye Mo looked at Dongfang Jin, seeing all the worry and anxiety he had for him. Although Dongfang Jin was a doctor and being good to patients was expected, when it came to Ye Mo, there was a lot more care and consideration than for other patients. Seeing this scene, the anger in Ye Mo’s heart dissipated by more than half.
“I’ve done some emergency treatment. You can’t get this angry next time, or the wound will split open again.”
Ye Mo didn’t speak, just stayed quiet. Dongfang Jin took out a small bowl and a spoon, ladled out a bowl of the tonic soup his mother had made, and brought it to Ye Mo’s lips, feeding it to him. Ye Mo didn’t resist; he just drank it quietly without saying a word.
On the other side, Dongfang Jin began to speak slowly: “My name is Dongfang Jin. I am 30 years old this year. I am a Doctors Without Borders freelance doctor. Most countries in the world have hospitals and institutions I collaborate with. Both my parents are alive, and I already have a house and a car.” Someone who didn’t know better would think this was some strange matchmaking session.
“So, what’s the point of saying all this? A blind date? I don’t like men.” Ye Mo’s sentence was quite blunt. He had no feelings for men, and although the face of the Dongfang Jin opposite him was indeed outstanding enough, it absolutely could not change the fact that Ye Mo did not like men.
“I’m telling you this just to let you know that I have no reservations toward you. I really like you, and I want to date you with the goal of marriage. I know you might think this is a joke right now, but I am serious. I hope you can date me.” Dongfang Jin looked into Ye Mo’s eyes; regardless of what the gaze in Ye Mo’s eyes was, he only knew that his own eyes now held only Ye Mo.
“Doctor Dongfang, the patient in ward 231 needs you to go over,” a nurse outside the door said urgently, afraid of disturbing the atmosphere between the two breathtakingly beautiful people before her.
“Go quickly, don’t keep them waiting.”
“Mo, then wait for me. I’ll be right back.”
Watching Dongfang Jin leave, Ye Mo’s face was full of disbelief. He would never have believed that a day would come when he would be confessed to and by a man, no less. That speech just now had indeed moved Ye Mo, but as someone who hadn’t experienced much love, he was slow to react to the scene that had just occurred. His mind was still stuck on the way Dongfang Jin had confessed.
While he was thinking about Dongfang Jin, his phone rang. Ye Mo answered the call and heard a very unpleasant voice on the other end say, “Little Brother! I heard you’re in the hospital. How is it? Are you dead yet?”
“Third Brother, I’d like to correct you. If I were dead, how would I be answering your call? Besides, if I were dead, I imagine you wouldn’t have a very good life either.” Ye Mo had long hated Ye Huan, and who knew this guy would walk right into the line of fire himself.
“Why? What does your death have to do with me!” Ye Huan was always stubborn.
“I’m in the hospital because I was doing something for you. If I hadn’t come to the hospital, naturally nothing would have happened. You tell me if it has anything to do with you.” Ye Huan was momentarily speechless, not knowing what to say, but then suddenly remembered: “Then that’s your own doing! Who told you to make me go to Africa? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have gone to the hospital.”
“Fine, then you don’t have to come back. Just stay in Africa forever. Just as you left, my subordinates told me there’s a very good hotel project in Africa; you can go there to develop your potential.” Ye Mo had already thought of a way to deal with Ye Huan, he just hadn’t used it yet.
“Little Brother, you can’t be like this. I was wrong, okay? I just got back to the country; don’t make me go to Africa again.”
“You’re back?”
“Yeah, Grandfather’s orders. I finished work over in Africa long ago, so I came back first to join the army of people helping you find a wife.”
Hearing this, Ye Mo felt his head aching again. On one side was Dongfang Jin, and on the other was a group of his own family members who loved watching a scene unfold.
“I already have one, so you don’t need to worry about it.” After saying that, Ye Mo hung up. Actually, that sentence was just a joke to put off his family, but who knew that saying it would force him to wander abroad for a few more days.
“Hello! Little Brother, what did you say! Hello!” Ye Huan was still speaking, but there wasn’t a trace of Ye Mo’s voice on the other end. “Did that kid just say he has a partner? That fast?” Ye Huan still didn’t believe it and hurriedly got into the car to go home.
After finishing the call, Ye Mo lay on the bed again, quietly staring at the ceiling. After thinking for a moment, he opened his phone and dialed a number. “Where are you? Hurry up and come to the Ye Family Hospital to take me home. I’ve never liked the smell of hospitals.” After a few very crisp sentences, he finished speaking and fell back into a deep sleep. By the time he woke up again, he was already in his own home.
