Husband, Let Your Husband Treat Your Illness - Chapter 10
Chapter 10
As dawn broke, Dongfang Jin woke up early and hurriedly took a cold shower. Why the cold shower? Because Ye Mo was injured and had difficulty moving, Dongfang Jin slept by his side to take care of him. But with Ye Mo lying right there, how could Dongfang Jin possibly sleep soundly? Ye Mo didn’t care at all; after all, he wasn’t the one suffering. Every time Dongfang Jin’s eyes swept over Ye Mo’s face during the night, a certain part of his body would react, forcing him to rush to the bathroom to splash his face with water and calm down. Having barely slept all night, he simply got up early to bathe.
After his shower, Dongfang Jin realized he had no change of clothes. Acting like the master of the house, he opened Ye Mo’s wardrobe. One look at it gave him a headache—this “little ancestor” had a collection consisting entirely of black, gray, and white. They were all designer brands; some he couldn’t even name, but they all looked incredibly expensive. Dongfang Jin randomly picked a suit. Both men had standard builds, and though Dongfang Jin was slightly more muscular than Ye Mo, the clothes were only a bit short on him.
As the saying goes, “clothes make the man.” Because of his profession, Dongfang Jin rarely wore such attire, and the outfit instantly highlighted his temperament. Standing before the mirror, he felt he didn’t even look like his usual self. He glanced at Ye Mo, who was still fast asleep on the bed, and a doting smile appeared on his face. He walked over and whispered softly into Ye Mo’s ear: “Mo, I’m going home for a bit and will be right back. I’ll bring breakfast too. Sleep a little longer.”
“Just leave already!” Ye Mo shouted back in a sleepy, milky voice, which carried no deterrent power whatsoever against Dongfang Jin.
Dongfang Jin didn’t dawdle and headed out immediately. Before long, he arrived at the Dongfang family compound.
As soon as he entered, he found the entire Dongfang family sitting neatly at the table having breakfast. His entrance drew the collective gaze of everyone present.
“Xiao Jin, the pork rib soup I’m stewing for you is almost ready. Have some breakfast first; you can take it with you in a moment,” said his mother, Chi Yuan.
“Xiao Jin, why the sudden request for rib soup?”
“Are you injured? Do you need to go to the hospital?”
“No, Mom, I think Big Brother looks perfectly healthy. Maybe someone else is injured instead?”
“Xiao Jin, who is that person?”
Questions fired off one after another, making Dongfang Jin’s head throb. He had clearly told the younger generation not to say anything yet.
“Big Brother, don’t blame me. You know how it is—forced confession,” Dongfang An jumped out to clarify his innocence.
“Sigh, Xiao An, your Big Brother’s happiness is what’s important,” Dongfang Gu remarked.
While everyone was chattering away, only Dongfang Yanran seemed to notice something unusual. “Big Brother, did you rob a bank?” Upon hearing this, everyone turned to look at the girl, who was not yet twenty. “Yanran! How can you speak like that?” scolded the father of Dongfang Jin and Yanran.
“Look for yourselves! The suit Big Brother is wearing is a limited edition Haute Couture piece by a famous French designer! It’s been on the runway at Fashion Week! There are only ten of these in the world! You can’t buy this just with money.” Yanran spoke with such authority that the whole family began scrutinizing the suit.
“By the way, how does a young girl preparing for the university entrance exam know so much?” Dongfang Jin felt his head ache. “If you don’t get into a good school this year, just watch how I deal with you,” he threatened.
“Mom! Look at Big Brother!” Yanran laughed and ran into Chi Yuan’s arms, sticking her tongue out at Dongfang Jin.
“Xiao Jin, although your Fifth Aunt is a real estate tycoon, even this suit isn’t worth that much. You know our family isn’t the extravagant type,” the Old Master finally spoke up after the commotion died down.
“Grandfather, you misunderstand. This suit isn’t mine. I just grabbed one from a wardrobe; I had no idea it was this expensive.”
“Whose clothes are these?”
Dongfang Jin had no choice but to tell his family everything that had happened recently. The family remained silent, listening quietly to his story.
“You brat, you haven’t even won them over yet? Truly embarrassing,” the Old Master teased.
“Grandfather, it’s only been a few days! But I’m very confident.”
“Big Brother, I’ve had my eye on several outfits and shoes. Why don’t you buy them all for me? Since you’ve found yourself a ‘gold mine’ now,” Yanran chimed in.
“If you want to buy things, earn your own money. Our family practices economic independence. When you can work and earn your own money, I’ll buy you one,” Dongfang Jin countered.
“Stingy,” she pouted.
“It’s getting late; I need to get back. He’s still sleeping in bed. Mom, the bone soup?”
“It’s already packed for you. Here.”
“Thanks, Mom. I’m leaving now. In a few days, I’ll bring him home to meet you all.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Dongfang Jin zipped out and drove toward Ye Mo’s house.
Upon entering, he found that the “little ancestor” was already up and was messing around in the kitchen. Dongfang Jin stepped forward, picked Ye Mo up, and carried him directly back to the room. “Dongfang Jin, have you finally remembered to come back? How long has it been!” “My mistake, my mistake. I’ll go make something for you right now.” With that, Dongfang Jin hurried out to cook.
After ten minutes of clattering in the kitchen, Dongfang Jin finished. Turning around, he realized that Ye Mo had already walked out of the room and was lying on the sofa, watching him cook. “What is it, Mo?” Ye Mo was looking at him playfully. Dongfang Jin thought: Is Ye Mo moved? Is he having a change of heart?
Suddenly, Ye Mo’s words nearly made Dongfang Jin cough up blood. Ye Mo said, “Were you just… wearing that to cook?”
Only then did Dongfang Jin realize that in his haste to cook, he hadn’t changed clothes. He was still wearing the limited edition Haute Couture suit, which was now covered in oil splatters and the smell of cooking.
“I seem to recall that suit belongs to me.”
“I had no clothes to change into after my shower this morning, so I just grabbed one. Who knew it was so expensive?” Dongfang Jin sounded slightly aggrieved. After all, if it weren’t for Ye Mo sleeping beside him, he wouldn’t be in this state.
Although there was a hint of annoyance on Ye Mo’s face, seeing the big man looking so sheepishly cute, he said, “Forget it, forget it. Just take it off and throw it away.” Ye Mo spoke so casually, as if the suit were a cheap piece from a street stall with no value.
“Throw it away? I’ll take it to be cleaned, otherwise it’s such a waste.” A suit like this was cheap to Ye Mo, but to Dongfang Jin, who was raised to be frugal, it was far too wasteful.
“No need. It wasn’t much money anyway. I know the designer; I’ll just ask for another one later.”
Dongfang Jin broke into a cold sweat listening to this. Ye Mo said these things so plainly and matter-of-factly.
After tidying up, the two finally sat down at the dining table. Dongfang Jin poured out the bone soup Chi Yuan had made into a small bowl for Ye Mo. “Here, I asked my mom to make this bone soup.” As he spoke, he scooped out a spoonful of soup with a piece of meat; even the broth was visibly packed with collagen.
“You went home this morning just for this?” Ye Mo asked.
“Yes, I asked her yesterday. It should be stewed very tenderly.”
Ye Mo took the first sip and was instantly overwhelmed by the taste. He quickly had Dongfang Jin feed him a second and third sip, and soon the small bowl was empty.
“I’m glad you like it.” Dongfang Jin looked at Ye Mo with eyes full of love. But for some reason, as Ye Mo continued to drink, tears began to fall. “Mo, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?”
“Nothing, nothing. The wind was just strong earlier, and something got in my eye.” He wiped away the tears and continued drinking the soup.
Watching Ye Mo, Dongfang Jin felt a pang of heartache but didn’t feel right pressing further. However, he sensed that Ye Mo must have some hidden pain in his heart. Thinking this, Dongfang Jin set the bowl down and hugged Ye Mo tightly, as if trying to melt Ye Mo into his own body. “Mo, believe me, I will never let you cry again. Never.”
Coming from Dongfang Jin, these words felt incredibly powerful, landing heavily on Ye Mo’s heart. Although Ye Mo maintained his usual unruffled expression, his heart was truly warmed by this man. This man might actually change Ye Mo’s life from now on.
“You’re holding me too tight, let go. I want to drink the soup.”
“Right, right.” Dongfang Jin released him and continued feeding him. Looking at the man’s disheveled state, Ye Mo said, “If my clothes fit you, just take whatever you want. Don’t worry about the price or anything.”
“Mhm, I understand. I won’t be leaving these next few days; I’ll stay here to take good care of you.”
“I’ve already notified the hospital. You stay here and focus entirely on taking care of me; don’t worry about things over there.”
The way they discussed things suddenly felt like an old married couple—warm and harmonious. “Mo, my family… they want to meet you.”
“A meeting? Isn’t it too soon? After all, I said three months, and it’s only been a few days.”
“I thought so too, so I didn’t agree.”
“But I think three months is too long. Let’s make it one month.”
“I want to wait until our relationship is official before…” Dongfang Jin stopped as if he had heard something unbelievable. “Mo, what did you say?”
“One month. If you didn’t hear it, then forget it.”
“No, one month! One month it is!” The joy in Dongfang Jin’s heart was beyond words; he was ecstatic.
“This month, I need to nurse my injuries properly.”
“I know. I’ll take good care of you.”
Ye Mo and Dongfang Jin looked at each other and smiled, both feeling that they had a long future ahead. Both their hearts felt warm. With only one month left until the New Year, it seemed this year’s Spring Festival wouldn’t be very quiet for either family.
