How to Handle a Sickly Yandere Demon God - Chapter 1
When Xu Xingxing first waited outside her father’s study, she was still somewhat apprehensive. After all, in the memories of the original Xu Xing’er, this Kunlun Sect Leader was the primary reason she had succumbed to qi deviation and met her untimely end, which was why she, a soul from another world, now stood here.
But now… Xu Xingxing glanced impatiently at the sun, blazing directly overhead in the peak of summer, scorching her without mercy.
It was already noon. Calculating the time, she had been waiting for roughly four hours. Even the young disciple who had delivered her message was looking at her with cautious sympathy.
Xu Xingxing wiped away her sweat fiercely. The initial ten parts of apprehension had now transformed into fifty parts of impatience and anger.
He was doing this on purpose, absolutely on purpose!
When it came to her so-called “dog father,” he was the epitome of adversity-based education, the pillar of hardship-driven parenting, and a staunch enforcer of discouraging words.
From the moment Xu Xing’er could remember, he had forced her to cultivate. In the sweltering heat of summer, even when she suffered from heatstroke multiple times, she was not allowed to rest. In the bitter cold of winter, even with her hands covered in frostbite, she could not slack off. Not even during the New Year could she take a brief break.
One New Year’s Eve, Xu Xing’er was captivated by fireworks and ended up playing a little longer. That very night, her father punished her by making her practice sword forms, forbidding her to stop without his permission.
In the freezing depths of winter, with ice covering the land for miles, she practiced for three full days without food or water, until she collapsed from exhaustion.
She was only seven years old at the time.
What chilled her even more was that when she woke up, she was met with a pair of indifferent eyes. Her father, standing by her bedside, showed no concern, only a cold, detached question:
“Do you understand your mistake?”
Every time Xu Xingxing recalled this, she couldn’t help but shed a few golden tears. What kind of father was this? Treating his own daughter like a machine.
From that day on, Xu Xing’er never dared to defy her father again. She cut herself off from everything else and devoted herself entirely to cultivation, even though she had never enjoyed it.
She was indeed exceptionally talented. She built her foundation at twelve, formed her golden core at seventeen, and broke through to the Nascent Soul stage three years later. Now, another three years had passed, and she was on the verge of reaching the Spirit Severing stage. But during her early seclusion, three months later, she died from a violent qi deviation, her body drenched in blood. When she awoke again, her inner self had been replaced by another soul.
Xu Xingxing didn’t want to recall how she had dragged a body with over twenty fractures and countless internal injuries out of Xu Xing’er’s secluded cultivation chamber when she first transmigrated.
Yet, even when she was so severely injured, this “dog father” had not visited her once during the three months of her recovery.
So cold-blooded, was he really her biological father?
But according to others, her father, Xu Yi, used to be a gentle and detached man, not overly ambitious in cultivation, and deeply devoted to her mother.
Later, during the Demon Extermination War, his comrades perished, and he was thrust into the position of sect leader. Then, her mother died due to complications while giving birth to her, which led to his drastic change in temperament.
Xu Xingxing sighed, wondering if this was the reason Xu Xing’er had been so obedient to her father.
She believed she was the one who had caused her mother’s death.
There was movement from inside the study. The young disciple hurried over and bowed respectfully to her. “Senior Sister, apologies for the long wait. Master summons you inside.”
Xu Xingxing nodded slightly in acknowledgment. The young disciple suddenly leaned in and whispered, “Master is in a bad mood. Please be careful, Senior Sister.”
In her memories, Xu Yi had never shown a pleasant expression when facing his daughter. Xu Xingxing had mentally prepared herself for this long before coming here.
She glanced at the junior disciple, searching through her memories. She did recall this person, though she didn’t know their name. Xu Xing’er’s daily life mostly revolved around cultivation, and she paid little attention to anything else.
The person’s face was somewhat familiar, a disciple who had followed her father for quite some time and was also a minor admirer of Xu Xing’er.
Although Xu Xing’er wasn’t favored by her father, she had many admirers.
After the Demon Extermination War, the number of cultivators above the Nascent Soul stage on Kunlun Mountain was exceedingly few. Among the new generation of young cultivators, she was the only one who had broken through to the Nascent Soul stage at just over twenty years old.
She was like a unique benchmark in a school, the top choice for “other people’s children,” the class monitor one could only admire from afar.
But she had no hobbies, no friends, and barely spoke a word all year round.
Xu Xing’er entered the study. The room wasn’t large, with a simple desk placed in the center. Books were piled neatly on the desk, and Xu Yi was standing with his back to her, holding a book as he flipped through its pages.
She imitated the way she remembered and bowed. “Greetings, Father.”
Xu Yi didn’t turn around, nor did he even acknowledge her.
She waited silently like a failing student. The only sound in the room was the faint rustle of Xu Yi turning pages, as if the book in his hands was so engrossing that he hadn’t noticed someone else had entered.
A power move! A hundred percent power move!
He hadn’t cared about her before her recovery, and only after she regained her health did he summon her. Setting aside his usual disdain for her, was it because her recent actions during her mission had been too conspicuous?
Speaking of the mission, it was necessary to explain her transmigration into this book.
The book was titled The Demon God Annihilates the World. Xu Xing’er had been waiting by the roadside for a bus when a pop-up ad for it appeared on her phone. She wasn’t particularly interested in this kind of male-oriented novel, but the animal on the cover caught her attention. Just as she was about to click on it, an out-of-control vehicle sent her flying.
As for the book’s content, she hadn’t read a single word. Fortunately, the plot was irrelevant because she had transmigrated into a time after the story had concluded. More than thirty years had passed since the Demon Extermination War, and the world was in ruins, with everything needing to be rebuilt. Her mission here was to save endangered and rare spirit beasts.
As for the system, it had only appeared at the beginning to inform her of the mission rules and help repair her original body’s foundation before vanishing.
Oh, and it had also left a book in her consciousness called The Hundred Beasts Tome, which could help her locate those rare spirit beasts.
Her mission was to find all the spirit beasts listed in the tome and ensure they were properly cared for.
“Kneel.”
“Huh?” Xu Xing’er didn’t react in time.
Xu Yi had no intention of repeating himself. A sudden pressure erupted from him, and a sharp pain shot through Xu Xing’er’s chest, forcing her involuntarily to her knees!
He gently closed the book in his hand, then turned slightly, his tone flat and unemotional. “Do you know your mistake?”
As expected, her guess was correct.
Her recent actions, compared to Xu Xing’er’s usual routine of nothing but cultivation, were indeed somewhat out of place.
It wasn’t that she disliked cultivation, it was just that the mission to save spirit beasts was an irresistible temptation for a student of veterinary medicine like her.
Ever since Xu Xing’er heard that a few spirit beasts remained in the Spirit Beast Mountain, she had grown restless during her recovery. She had even ventured out several times, ignoring her injuries to search for them.
As soon as her wounds healed, she eagerly began packing her things, preparing to move there.
It wasn’t because she was being playful. Her current residence was on Sunflare Mountain, Kunlun’s main peak, which she had determined through research was unsuitable for raising spirit beasts. The Spirit Beast Mountain she wished to move to was located in the southwest of Kunlun, formerly the territory of the Beast Taming Sect.
The reason for saying “formerly” was that before the Demon Extermination War, Kunlun wasn’t a unified sect.
Back then, numerous sects coexisted, each shining with its own brilliance and unique strengths. Though the Kunlun Sect led them, the others, while subordinate, were by no means inferior.
A century ago, when the Demon God descended, plunging the world into chaos and threatening the very existence of the three realms, cultivators sacrificed themselves to protect all living beings.
When the Great Ascension cultivators fell, the Unity stage stepped up; when the Unity stage perished, the Void Refinement stage took their place. Kunlun then was like a living hell, shrouded in the shadow of death. In the later stages of the war, the sects of Kunlun suffered devastating casualties, and fear gripped everyone’s hearts.
At that time, Xu Yi, already the leader of the Kunlun Sect, made a decisive move to merge all sects into one, thus preserving the precarious flame of cultivation.
Ultimately, the Demon God was destroyed, and the demonic creatures were sealed away. But after the war, Kunlun lay in ruins, scarred and desolate.
The Beast Taming Sect was no exception.
The surviving members either left or transferred to other sects, leaving the once-great sect as nothing but broken walls and rubble.
A lonely village stood silent with no human voices; overgrown paths lay secluded as grass grew wild.
Thirty years passed in the blink of an eye. While the center of Kunlun showed signs of revival, Spirit Beast Mountain remained uninhabited, its spiritual energy thin and sparse.
Yet in Xu Xingxing’s eyes, it was a vast, sparsely populated area with lush vegetation, diverse weather, and varied terrain, ideal for many types of beasts to thrive. It was practically a natural zoo.
Naturally, her actions couldn’t escape the notice of her father, the sect leader.
Xu Xingxing looked up at Xu Yi.
He had a fair, beardless face with gentle features, a tall stature, and was dressed in simple blue robes. He appeared to be around thirty years old; if not for his full head of white hair, he would resemble an ordinary scholar, seemingly harmless.
At that moment, his eyelids were slightly lowered as he gazed down at her calmly, embodying the image of a kind father.
As if she had truly done wrong, as if she ought to repent.
Suddenly, she understood why Xu Yi’s mere question, “Do you know your mistake?” could make the aloof and distant Xu Xing’er tremble like a leaf.
But Xu Xingxing wasn’t buying it.
Having grown up in her grandfather’s dog kennels, when it came to being “dog-like,” she might just outdo this so-called dog father.
She blinked her eyes, feigning innocence, “Does Xing’er err in failing to pay respects due to her severe injuries not yet healed? Or in eating twelve chickens from the canteen out of necessity to replenish her strength while supposedly fasting? Or in being unable to lead morning exercises for the junior disciples because of her injuries? Or mmph!”
The rest of her words were muffled as her dog father silenced her with a spell!
“It seems you do not know.”
Xu Yi spoke softly, as if sighing, “Then let your father enlighten you on where exactly you went wrong.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Xu Xingxing felt the pressure around her intensify instantly. With no way to evade it, she coughed up a mouthful of blood!
Xu Yi stepped toward her, his tone ethereal and calm, yet each word carried the weight of a thousand pounds:
“Indulging in play and neglecting duties, that is the first.”
One step.
“Pursuing trivialities and forgetting your roots, that is the second.”
Two steps.
With each step, the pressure grew stronger. The pain of her internal organs being crushed made Xu Xingxing curl into a ball, and the taste of blood rose in her nostrils.
“Glib tongue and clever words, that is the third.”
Three steps.
Finally, Xu Yi stopped right in front of her:
“Has your father made himself clear?”
Perhaps to allow her to answer the question, the oppressive pressure temporarily ceased, and the silencing restriction was lifted, finally giving her a moment to catch her breath.
As the pain eased, Xu Xingxing simply lay on her side on the ground, taking quite a while to regain her strength. She thought about getting up but, finding her body still somewhat weak, ended up sitting casually on the floor.
Xu Yi’s gaze remained as calm and deep as a still pond, as though patiently waiting for her response.
“Father was mistaken, Xing’er has a fourth fault.”
“And what is that?”
“Taking a thief for a father, that is the fourth.”
