How I Accidentally Bent My Best Friend - Chapter 65
“It’s me.” Lu Wei raised a hand, weakly pointing at herself. “I,”
“Hmm.” Chen Yushu nodded. “What about you?”
“Me.” Lu Wei shifted her finger and pointed at Chen Yushu. “You.”
Chen Yushu frowned, beginning to suspect Lu Wei was deliberately stringing her along. But given Lu Wei’s current state, she probably didn’t have the capacity for that.
Just then, as if struck by a thought, Lu Wei suddenly let out a soft giggle.
“What are you laughing at?” Chen Yushu lightly tapped Lu Wei’s cheek and noticed it felt warm. Lu Wei’s cheeks were flushed a rosy red, and under the bright bathroom lights, the fine texture of her skin was clearly visible.
Lu Wei leaned against Chen Yushu’s shoulder, her eyes half-open and hazy as if veiled in mist.
“Are you going to tell me or not?” Chen Yushu urged. “If not, I’m leaving.”
“No.” Lu Wei buried her face in Chen Yushu’s chest, nuzzling and whining, “I’ll tell you. She Chen Yushu, actually, I hehe.”
After waiting for what felt like ages without hearing the secret Lu Wei was hinting at, Chen Yushu grew impatient but restrained herself, coaxing gently, “What’s wrong with you?”
“I’ve realized, I,” Lu Wei blurted out a few words before breaking into another grin, her blush deepening and her expression turning dreamy. Fortunately, she caught herself in time and whispered, “You can’t let Chen Yushu know, or she’ll run away.”
The fragrance of fruit wine lingered in the air, intoxicatingly mild.
Chen Yushu gritted her teeth, clenched her fists, and forced a soft smile. “Okay, I won’t tell her. You can whisper it to me.”
“Mm.” Lu Wei lifted her head and nodded slowly, then suddenly looked at her, leaning in closer and squinting as if trying hard to focus.
For some reason, Chen Yushu’s breath hitched, and she felt inexplicably nervous, probing almost hypnotically, “What is it? Can you tell me now?”
Lu Wei didn’t speak, her eyes fixed intently on Chen Yushu. As she drew extremely close, her eyes suddenly lit up. “Chen Yushu? You’re No! I can’t tell you!”
“You!” Chen Yushu’s facade shattered instantly, her voice cracking with frustration. “Lu Wei, are you asking for death?! Spit it out!”
Lu Wei bit her lip firmly and shook her head.
“Hahaha.” Chen Yushu grabbed her by the collar, laughing in sheer exasperation. After a moment, she took a deep breath and smiled faintly. “You’ve got it wrong. I’m not her, really, I’m not.”
Lu Wei pitifully let Chen Yushu manhandle her, then shook her head with a smile, pressing her index finger against Chen Yushu’s lower lip. “Impossible. I’d never mistake you.”
Chen Yushu’s face fell instantly. Giving up hope, she dragged Lu Wei to the sink, intending to wash her hands.
Meanwhile, Lu Wei was still hung up on whether she’d recognized her correctly, muttering under her breath, “How could I mistake you? Chen Yushu I really like.”
As the cold water hit her hands, Lu Wei shivered and complained discontentedly, “It’s cold.”
“Serves you right if you freeze!” Chen Yushu scowled, her heart clawed with irritation. Ahhh, so annoying! She really felt like strangling Lu Wei!
When they stepped out of the bathroom, the music in the hall had changed melodious and enchanting. Many people were dancing on the vast circular stage, moving to the rhythm.
Chen Yushu supported the person, trying to guide her back to her seat, but Lu Wei stood still, her gaze fixed dazedly on the dancing figures.
Then, Lu Wei broke free from Chen Yushu’s embrace, wrapped her arms around her waist, and reached for her hand.
It took Chen Yushu a while to realize that Lu Wei wanted to dance. She immediately refused, “Stop pulling at me. I don’t want to embarrass myself with you.”
“Give me your hand.” Lu Wei paid no attention, stubbornly grabbing her hand and raising it, then pulling her along to sway haphazardly to the music.
“Lu Wei, let’s go now,” Chen Yushu called her name softly, holding her as she tried to move toward the dining table. “You can barely stand steady, what are you dancing for?”
Lu Wei insisted on doing the opposite, tugging her forcefully toward the center of the dance floor.
“Alright, alright, I’ll dance with you. Just don’t go over there!” Unable to truly abandon her, Chen Yushu quickly called her back, reluctantly giving in.
The music shifted to a lively tune, and the atmosphere in the hall instantly grew heated.
Chen Yushu’s entire body was tense, unable to immerse herself in the moment, feeling completely out of place.
As the song ended, perhaps from exhaustion, Lu Wei leaned limply against her, breathing softly and unevenly.
“Can we go now?” Chen Yushu asked.
Lu Wei hummed in response, then, after a moment, suddenly called her name.
Chen Yushu: “Hmm? What is it?”
“What type do you actually like?”
Chen Yushu’s eyelid twitched. “Why do you keep asking that? It has nothing to do with you.”
“How is it unrelated? I also want.” Lu Wei looked up at her, her eyes brimming with a watery sheen, bright and intense.
I also want to be the one you like.
Chen Yushu frowned slightly, unable to resist speculating about what Lu Wei meant to say next, and pressed, “Want what?”
Lu Wei stared at her blankly for a long moment. “You tell me first.”
“Why should I tell you?” Chen Yushu didn’t yield an inch. “Unless you tell me what your secret is.”
Hearing this, Lu Wei immediately furrowed her brows, her expression troubled. “No, you go first, then I’ll tell you.”
“Why? Is this a transaction?” Chen Yushu asked. “Or are the two somehow connected?”
Lu Wei fell silent, her gaze drifting away as she whined stubbornly, “You stop interrupting. Tell me first, what type do you like?”
Chen Yushu looked at her face. Lu Wei’s eyelids were lowered, her long lashes like fans, seeming to gently stir the unease in her heart.
Chen Yushu averted her gaze slightly, lost in thought for a long while.
Receiving no response in the ensuing silence, Lu Wei looked up at Chen Yushu, her eyes bright and shimmering with moisture.
The elegant sound of a piano poured forth, tinged with a faint melancholy the song was “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”
The heavy atmosphere gradually shifted, with ambiguous sparks flickering between their gazes, their breaths swaying under its influence.
“I,” As soon as she spoke, Chen Yushu realized her voice was a bit hoarse. She swallowed and said quickly, “I don’t know.”
“Huh?” Lu Wei frowned, her puzzled eyes clouding over again. She hooked her arms around Chen Yushu’s neck, drawing closer, and looked at her stubbornly, as if trying to find the answer in her eyes on her own.
An invisible pressure enveloped her completely. Chen Yushu’s lashes fluttered slightly. “I don’t know how to describe it.”
Lu Wei tilted her head slightly, as if trying hard to grasp the meaning behind her words. After a moment, Lu Wei rested her chin on her shoulder, her lips trembling faintly as she whispered very softly, “What about me?”
