How I Accidentally Bent My Best Friend - Chapter 53
As if her fate had been seized by the throat, Lu Wei dared not move a muscle. After a long pause, she stammered, ” I had a nightmare.”
“A nightmare?” Chen Yushu chuckled softly. “You seemed to be laughing quite happily.”
“You heard me?” Lu Wei blurted out in shock.
Snap!
Chen Yushu abruptly turned on the light. Lu Wei squeezed her eyes shut against the glare, and when she opened them again, she found Chen Yushu glaring at her furiously.
“What was so funny? Share it with me so I can laugh too.”
Lu Wei tried to shrink further into the blankets, but Chen Yushu immediately dragged her back out.
“Speak!”
“Don’t be so fierce.”
“Hurry up and tell me!” Chen Yushu tightened her grip on Lu Wei’s collar, her fist clenched.
Feeling guilty, Lu Wei looked at her, slowly reached out a hand, and pressed down on Chen Yushu’s fist. She blinked, thinking to herself: It’s not that I don’t want to say, but if you knew I had ulterior motives toward you, it wouldn’t be good for either of us.
“What are you doing?” Chen Yushu sighed helplessly at her expression and warned, “If you keep fidgeting, don’t blame me for kicking you off the bed!”
Lu Wei quickly nodded in agreement.
As they settled back to sleep, Lu Wei lay stiffly, not daring to make a sound.
Soon, Chen Yushu’s steady breathing filled the room. Lu Wei opened her eyes, gazing at her back, and secretly made a resolution: no matter what, she had to make this person hers.
Succeed or perish!
With this thought, Lu Wei grew excited, her body breaking into a light sweat. Her stomach tightened with nervous spasms, twitching uncontrollably. She hurriedly adjusted her breathing, trying to relax a little.
Her heart swelled with a jumble of emotions, and every nerve tingled with inexplicable excitement. Tossing and turning, Lu Wei couldn’t fall asleep, while beside her, Chen Yushu slept soundly.
Lu Wei gave up and simply lay there, staring at Chen Yushu’s back. Gradually, she grew unsatisfied and edged closer, wanting to hold her.
Yet, an action she had performed countless times before now felt incredibly difficult. She raised a hand, hesitating for a long time, but didn’t dare to go further.
Resigned, Lu Wei gave up and lay back properly. Before long, she couldn’t resist quietly taking a strand of Chen Yushu’s hair and bringing it to her nose for a gentle sniff.
Like a thief caught red-handed, her pounding heartbeat immediately betrayed her guilt, echoing loudly in the quiet night. Lu Wei quickly released the strand of hair, turned over, and pressed a hand to her chest.
She didn’t know when she fell asleep. The next morning, Lu Wei was awakened by a tickling sensation in her nose. Opening her eyes, she found a magnified face staring back at her.
Chen Yushu was crouched by the bed, holding a strand of hair and brushing it lightly across Lu Wei’s face, watching her reaction with amusement.
“Mmm, what are you doing?” Lu Wei scooted back slightly and whined, “Let me sleep a little longer.”
“Still sleeping?” Chen Yushu pinched her nose. “Have you even checked the time?”
Lu Wei fumbled for her phone and squinted with one eye. “11:20? It’s still early. Just a little longer.”
“Early?” Chen Yushu immediately climbed onto the bed, straddling Lu Wei, and pulled her up forcefully. “Check-out is at noon. Hurry up!”
Lu Wei leaned limply against Chen Yushu, mumbling, “It’s fine. We can just ask the owner to extend until 2 p.m.”
Chen Yushu felt a bit embarrassed and gently patted Lu Wei’s face to wake her. “What were you sneaking around doing last night? You’ve been sleeping so long and still won’t wake up.”
Triggered by the key words, Lu Wei became a little more alert. Without moving her body, she loosely wrapped her arms around Chen Yushu from behind and couldn’t resist taking a light sniff of her scent.
In an instant, a familiar scene flashed through her mind, and Lu Wei suddenly realized, this was exactly like their daily life after moving in together.
At that thought, she couldn’t help but smile, her heart filling with something dense and overwhelming. For the first time, she clearly felt the tangible shape of happiness.
So she had long stopped seeing Chen Yushu as just a friend.
Yes, all her confusion and uncertainty suddenly made sense.
“What are you grinning so foolishly about again?” Chen Yushu patted her back, gave her a slight push, and got out of bed to start packing. “Hurry up and get up.”
Lu Wei leaned against the bed, quietly watching Chen Yushu. The more she looked, the more she liked what she saw, and her gaze gradually grew bolder.
“What kind of junk are you stuffing into these broken bottles and jars?”
Chen Yushu grumbled as she packed. Not hearing any movement from Lu Wei getting up, she turned to glare at her angrily, only to find Lu Wei staring at her with a silly grin. The words she meant to say slipped her mind, and she couldn’t help but shiver.
Lu Wei belatedly snapped out of it, hurriedly threw off the covers, and jumped out of bed. “I’m going to wash up right now.”
“What’s wrong with her?” Chen Yushu frowned as she watched her retreating back. “Did her brain break after one night’s sleep?”
Just then, Lu Wei rushed out of the bathroom in a panic, mouth full of foam, and mumbled, “Oh no! Song Xin and the others messaged me saying there’s a make-up class this morning, and the teacher took attendance! Everyone who didn’t go will”
“Wait.” Chen Yushu listened with concern at first, but gradually couldn’t hold back her laughter. “What a coincidence my roommate also texted me saying we have an experiment this morning.”
“Huh?” Lu Wei’s jaw dropped in shock, and a blob of foam plopped onto her clothes. “But that can’t be right. You’re the class monitor shouldn’t you be the first to know?”
“At least there’s still hope for you.” Chen Yushu pulled out a tissue and wiped the foam from her mouth. “Silly, it’s April Fool’s Day.”
“So they were tricking me?!” Lu Wei pitifully snuggled up to Chen Yushu, hugging her as she fake-sobbed, “How awful! Not only did they lie to me, but they also scared me, saying the teacher would confront me next class.”
“There, there.” Chen Yushu held back her laughter and offered a half-hearted comfort. “Hurry up and finish brushing your teeth. Don’t get my clothes dirty.”
Lu Wei: “…You’re a bad person too.”
After breakfast, the two returned to campus.
It was April, when flowers bloom in abundance. Many flowers on campus had opened, exuding vitality everywhere a stark contrast to the bleakness of winter.
Walking up a small slope lined with late-blooming cherry blossoms, Chen Yushu stopped, stood on her tiptoes, and plucked a blossom to smell.
Lu Wei, walking a few steps behind, had also been admiring the flowers when she suddenly caught sight of Chen Yushu’s profile. Her gaze instantly shifted.
Just then, a couple came by to take photos. Chen Yushu turned around, about to call Lu Wei to leave, when she noticed Lu Wei holding up her phone, seemingly taking a picture of her. “Lu Wei?”
“Don’t move, I’m almost done.” After snapping the photo, Lu Wei opened the image. The person in it was beautiful, but the background was a bit cluttered.
She frowned slightly in dissatisfaction and was about to ask Chen Yushu to turn sideways when she saw her cover her face with her hand and anxiously call out, “Lu Wei, stop taking pictures. Let’s go.”
“Why leave? You look so beautiful it’d be a shame not to take a few more.” As she spoke, Lu Wei straightened her posture and raised her phone again. “Alright, just like that. Lower your hand.”
At these words, Chen Yushu’s face instantly grew warm. Many people were passing by, casting glances their way. In that moment, she felt both shy and awkward, quickly doing as Lu Wei said in hopes that she would finish soon.
“Don’t be so tense. Relax a little.”
Chen Yushu forced a faint smile and gritted her teeth, urging, “Is it done yet? Hurry up!”
A gust of wind blew, swaying the flower branches and scattering countless petals. Chen Yushu brushed aside her wind-tousled hair, and a petal suddenly landed in her palm. She opened her eyes in pleasant surprise, then looked up at the petals still fluttering down.
Unbeknownst to her, this scene had long been captured by the camera. Behind the screen, Lu Wei’s heart was already in disarray.
“Is it done?”
The person in the frame suddenly looked toward her, making Lu Wei’s heart skip a beat. She quickly pressed save.
Chen Yushu could no longer hold back and ran to the side. “Give me the phone. I’ll take pictures for you.”
“No need.” Lu Wei walked over, pulled her under the tree, raised the phone high, and framed both their faces in the shot. Then, as if no one else was around, she made various expressions at the camera. Beside her, Chen Yushu smiled awkwardly, frozen in place like a human-shaped cutout.
After taking a few shots, Lu Wei still wasn’t satisfied and couldn’t help but lean closer to Chen Yushu, inching nearer and nearer.
Finally, she stealthily extended an arm, just barely encircling Chen Yushu’s waist, pressing her cheek against Chen Yushu’s. As the countdown for the photo ended, she inexplicably tilted her head, her lips hovering just above Chen Yushu’s face.
The image froze instantly.
Feeling guilty, Lu Wei withdrew her hand and checked the photos in the album, completely unaware that the person in her arms had stiffened for a moment.
“Is it done?” Chen Yushu slowed her breathing and stepped up the slope.
“Mm.” Lu Wei glanced at the photo and quickly turned off her phone. “Let’s go. I’ll send you the photos later. My skills speak for themselves, they’re absolutely stunning.”
“Conceited.”
“Alright, I admit, part of it is because you’re naturally beautiful.”
“Smooth talker.”
Lu Wei: Huh? How is that smooth talk? I’m clearly telling the truth!
Back in the dorm, only Jiang Yunxi was there. Lu Wei collapsed into her chair, her entire body suddenly relaxing.
The drawing from yesterday was still in her pants pocket, pressing uncomfortably against her skin. She carefully took it out, slowly unfolded it, and after just one glance, immediately turned her head away.
The black-and-white image was vivid the source of desire.
Her mind instantly recalled Chen Yushu lying on her side on the bed yesterday, the straps hanging from her arms, revealing a large expanse of snow-white skin on her back, her slender waist, the curves.
Stop, stop! Lu Wei bit her lip, a wave of heat rising to her neck and cheeks. What a sin! It’s still too early for this, I can’t think about these things!
She hurriedly refolded the drawing and placed it in a locked metal box.
Suddenly remembering she had taken photos earlier, she felt it wasn’t safe to keep them in the album. After a moment’s thought, she uploaded the photos to Weibo, set them to private, and then deleted them from her phone.
After finishing these tasks, Lu Wei began flipping through the photos she had just taken. When she reached the last one, a wave of tension washed over her, and she couldn’t help but clutch her stomach, thinking with some frustration, when would she ever be able to kiss openly and without worry?
One thing she was certain of, though: if Chen Yushu were to find out about her less-than-pure thoughts right now, Chen Yushu would probably grab a knife and come after her.
Lu Wei rubbed her temples with a headache and sighed in distress.
Just then, Jiang Yunxi, who was on the opposite bed, suddenly got up, passed by her, and went out to the balcony.
Lu Wei slowly turned her head to look, and a thought struck her, how could she have forgotten about Jiang Yunxi?
That’s right, Jiang Yunxi must have experience in this!
Soon, Jiang Yunxi returned from the balcony and sat back down.
Lu Wei sneakily glanced over, gathered her thoughts for a moment, then stood up and walked over, trying to act natural as she leaned against the nearby wall. She asked as casually as possible, “Senior, it’s like this I have a friend.”
“Hmm.” Jiang Yunxi looked up at her, signaling her to continue.
Lu Wei took a deep breath and said, “So, my friend, one day, she suddenly realized she’s fallen for well, her good friend. But her good friend seems probably straight.”
Jiang Yunxi’s expression didn’t change, and she nodded knowingly. “Oh, so you’re saying you like your friend Chen Yushu, right?”
