How I Accidentally Bent My Best Friend - Chapter 47
Two days later, Xia Ke gathered all the materials and sent them to Chen Yushu. It happened to be the weekend, so Chen Yushu wasted no time and started working on the PowerPoint presentation.
However, it was her first time making a PPT, and she was still very unfamiliar with it. By the time the morning had passed, she had only completed four slides, including the cover.
Soon, it was time for lunch. Chen Yushu was so absorbed in her work that she didn’t notice Lu Wei urging her several times. In the end, Lu Wei had to come to her door.
“Wait a moment, I’m almost done,” Chen Yushu said without turning her head.
Lu Wei leaned in closer. “Don’t rush. Making a PPT is actually quite simple once you get the hang of it.”
“Stop distracting me,” Chen Yushu said, frantically ruffling her hair as she stared blankly at the computer screen. “Ah! Why did it disappear again!”
“Hahaha, don’t panic,” Lu Wei said, smoothing down Chen Yushu’s hair before leaning over to take the mouse. With a few quick clicks, she fixed the issue. “See? It’s really simple.”
In her agitated state, Chen Yushu couldn’t help but huff. “Oh, you’re so capable. If it’s so simple, why don’t you just do the whole thing for me?”
“Fine, I’ll help you,” Lu Wei said, rubbing the back of Chen Yushu’s neck soothingly. “Don’t stress too much. How about this: we’ll go to a hotel this afternoon to relax in the hot springs, and then I’ll help you finish the PPT tonight. Sound good?”
Chen Yushu hesitated. “Can you really finish it?”
“No problem.”
“Oh, but why do you suddenly want to go to the hot springs?”
“Didn’t I mention a couple of days ago that my mom is coming to Yuncheng? She asked me to find her a comfortable hotel,” Lu Wei explained. “I looked online and found one that’s pretty nice it has a hot springs club and other amenities. She got me two membership cards and told me to go check it out when I have time.”
Chen Yushu nodded. “Oh.”
After lunch, the two set off immediately.
The hotel was located in a resort center, nestled against mountains and water, with breathtaking scenery.
After checking in, they took the elevator straight to their room. As soon as they entered, Lu Wei collapsed onto the bed and let out a long, contented sigh. Meanwhile, Chen Yushu was drawn to the view from the balcony. She pushed open the door, gazed at the distant green mountains, and took a deep breath.
“It’s still early. Want to go explore downstairs?” Lu Wei asked, having appeared behind her at some point, leaning against the railing.
Chen Yushu shifted slightly away, feeling a bit awkward. “Sure.”
The hotel had many entertainment facilities, but after browsing through them, neither of them was particularly interested. Eventually, they wandered into an accessories shop.
“This smells so good,” Chen Yushu said, picking up a scented candle and sniffing it before holding it under Lu Wei’s nose. “Take a whiff.”
“It really is nice,” Lu Wei said, inhaling deeply before taking the candle. “We can light it when we soak in the hot springs tonight.”
Chen Yushu hadn’t expected her to actually want to buy it. She couldn’t help but glance at the price tag 139?! For such a small candle? It cost 139?
She immediately pulled Lu Wei back, snatched the candle from her hand, and whispered, “Let’s not get it. It’s too expensive.”
“It’s fine,” Lu Wei said, taking the candle back nonchalantly. “We don’t buy things like this often. So what if it’s a bit pricey?”
“Over a hundred yuan is enough for a whole meal,” Chen Yushu insisted, grabbing the candle again and placing it back on the shelf. She softened her tone to coax her. “Be good, let’s not get it, okay?”
As Lu Wei reached for the candle again, Chen Yushu quickly wrapped her arms around her and steered her toward another section. “Let’s go look at these hair clips instead.”
“Alright,” Lu Wei relented, allowing Chen Yushu to lead her to the hair accessories area.
The sparkling hair clips and ties quickly caught her attention. Lu Wei picked up a realistic butterfly clip and held it up to the mirror, but it didn’t feel quite right. Suddenly, she turned her gaze to Chen Yushu. “Shushu, try this one.”
Chen Yushu turned her head, her eyes lighting up. “This is so pretty! Where did you get it?”
Lu Wei pointed it out, and as Chen Yushu reached for it, she quickly added, “Let me help you put it on.”
“Okay.” Chen Yushu stood still, bending slightly to make it easier for her.
Lu Wei gently gathered a section of her hair, carefully clipped the butterfly in place, adjusted it slightly, and then looked into the mirror with satisfaction. The misty blue butterfly was incredibly lifelike, as if it had fluttered in from some unknown place to rest in her hair, wings poised as if ready to take flight. It complemented Chen Yushu’s cool elegance while adding a touch of gentle vitality. Lu Wei was momentarily stunned before finally saying, “Mm! It really is beautiful! It suits you so well.”
Just then, Chen Yushu tilted her head, facing the mirror directly. “Really?”
Caught off guard by the gaze of the person in the mirror, Lu Wei’s breath hitched. Her mind went blank for a few seconds, and her heart skipped a beat as if struck by something.
Chen Yushu lightly touched the butterfly, admiring it from different angles. She was tempted but reluctantly took it off and glanced at the price tag.
Two hundred ninety-nine?
“Put it back,” Chen Yushu said, her heart sinking instantly as she handed the clip to Lu Wei.
“Wh-what’s wrong?” Lu Wei’s eyes flickered as she took the butterfly. Seizing the moment when Chen Yushu wasn’t looking, she quietly swallowed and turned away, her heart beginning to beat erratically, a wave of heat rushing to her cheeks.
After browsing around, they ended up only picking up a bottle of fruit wine. As they reached the entrance, Chen Yushu went to pay, while Lu Wei discreetly held onto a candle, her gaze drifting back toward the hair accessory section.
“Alright, let’s go,” Chen Yushu said, noticing Lu Wei hadn’t heard her and was staring off into space. “Is there something else you want to buy?”
“No!” Lu Wei turned her head, quickly denying it, then took the candle to the counter to scan and pay.
Seeing this, Chen Yushu’s eyes widened in shock. It was too late to stop her, so she could only curse inwardly, calling her a spendthrift.
Once outside the accessory shop, Chen Yushu couldn’t hold back any longer. She pinched the soft flesh at Lu Wei’s waist, forcing a smile as she said, “What did we just agree on, huh?”
“Alright, alright, I get it now. It hurts go easy on me.”
Chen Yushu shot her a glare, released her, and strode ahead.
Lu Wei, preoccupied with her thoughts, glanced back, her feet rooted to the spot. Anxiously, she called out to Chen Yushu.
“What is it?” Chen Yushu turned back, exasperated. “Can’t walk just because you’re holding a candle?”
Lu Wei slowly caught up, but a sudden emptiness washed over her, as if something was tugging at her heart.
“Don’t you dare buy things recklessly again!” Chen Yushu sighed, grabbing her hand. “Let’s go.”
The moment their skin touched, Lu Wei flinched and pulled her hand back as if shocked. Suddenly, she blurted out, “Wait, I think I forgot something.”
With that, she turned and hurried back into the store.
Chen Yushu thought about following her, but Lu Wei glanced back and said, “I’ll be right back. Just wait for me outside.”
Jogging into the store, Lu Wei headed straight to the hair accessory section. She nervously glanced outside, then quickly took down the butterfly hair clip and strode to the counter. Uncomfortably handing it to the cashier, she opened her payment QR code while keeping a tight watch outside, afraid that Chen Yushu might see.
“Alipay received 299 yuan.”
The store’s announcement suddenly rang out, making Lu Wei’s scalp tingle. She hurriedly grabbed the butterfly clip and tucked it into her inner pocket.
“Did you find it?” Chen Yushu asked.
Lu Wei nodded, “Yeah, I found it.”
Chen Yushu said, “It’s 5:30 now. Let’s grab a bite before heading back to the hotel.”
Lu Wei replied, “Okay.”
As they walked, the metal part of the hair clip rubbed against her skin through the fabric, its presence overwhelmingly noticeable. Lu Wei’s whole body tensed up, and she unconsciously broke into a sweat.
By the time they finished dinner and returned to the hotel, the sky had already darkened.
Lu Wei could feel the butterfly clip trapped in her pocket, and it made her uneasy no matter what especially when Chen Yushu looked her way.
“Ah, I’m so tired!” Chen Yushu flopped onto the soft bed. After lying there for a moment, she asked, “By the way, didn’t they say there’s a hot spring in the room? Where is it?”
Lu Wei searched around the room but didn’t see it, then went upstairs to check and said, “It’s up here.”
Chen Yushu sat up from the bed, “Oh, then let’s go soak quickly. And you can work on my PPT while we’re at it.”
“Okay.” Lu Wei came back down, picked up her swimsuit, and was about to change in the bathroom when Chen Yushu stopped her, “I’ll go first.”
As soon as the bathroom door closed, Lu Wei quickly took out the butterfly clip, inspecting it like a treasure. Seeing that it wasn’t damaged, she swiftly put it in her bag.
Just then, Chen Yushu came out in her swimsuit. Lu Wei looked up and saw her wrapped in a towel, holding a stack of folded clothes, which she placed at the foot of the bed. “I’m done, you can go now.”
Lu Wei said okay, quickly changed, and casually draped a towel over herself before coming out.
Chen Yushu was already waiting at the staircase with her laptop. Lu Wei grabbed the candles and wine, saying excitedly, “I’m coming!”
The hot spring pool didn’t look too small, but when the two stood by the edge, they realized it was a bit cramped.
“Can we even sit in this?” Chen Yushu asked hesitantly, her face showing uncertainty.
“Of course we can!” Lu Wei tossed her towel onto a nearby chair, stepped down into the pool, and said, “See? It’s bigger than two bathtubs. Here, you sit here.”
Chen Yushu hummed in agreement, placing her laptop on a side shelf. She hesitated about whether to go into the pool with her towel on, but there didn’t seem to be any dry towels left. However, the swimsuit she was wearing underneath was a bit revealing, and for a moment, her face was filled with conflict.
Sitting in the pool, Lu Wei took in Chen Yushu’s expression and was about to tease her when she saw Chen Yushu start to untie her towel.
Instantly, Lu Wei’s mind went blank, and her eyes widened. Just as Chen Yushu was about to take off the towel, Lu Wei hurriedly turned her head away, and her whole body began to feel uncomfortable.
What’s wrong with me? Damn it! We’re both girls, why am I so nervous?!
Even as she comforted herself with these thoughts, Lu Wei didn’t dare to glance even slightly in front of her. Her hands, propped against the bottom of the pool, were stiff to the extreme.
Without the towel, the cold wind made Chen Yushu shiver immediately. Forgetting her embarrassment, she quickly stepped into the water.
The warm water flowed over her entire body, making her bones feel as if they were melting into relaxation. Chen Yushu leaned back and couldn’t help but close her eyes in comfort.
By this time, Lu Wei had mostly steeled her nerves, and her neck no longer ached from being held stiffly. Unable to resist any longer, she turned her head stiffly and quickly glanced ahead.
Thankfully, the steam had risen to chest level, shrouding everything below the neck in a hazy mist. This undoubtedly brought Lu Wei a great sense of relief.
After soaking for a while, Chen Yushu felt a bit thirsty and asked Lu Wei to pour her a glass of wine.
“Here, for you.” Lu Wei leaned forward, holding out the glass with an outstretched hand.
“Don’t move, don’t spill the wine,” Chen Yushu called out to her, suddenly standing up and slowly walking over.
Her soaked hair clung to her chest, and water droplets traced the contours of her skin as they rolled downward. Lu Wei’s gaze froze, the mental fortitude she had painstakingly built up shattered instantly with a resounding crash.
Taking the glass, Chen Yushu tilted her head back and took a sip, then carefully made her way back.
As she moved, the water rippled, lapping against Lu Wei’s calves and chest Waves of heat surged, and Lu Wei immediately broke into a sweat. She hurriedly turned her head down, only to find Chen Yushu’s reflection clearly outlined on the marble edge of the pool, her curves unmistakable.
In an instant, Lu Wei’s mind exploded. She quickly shut her eyes, feigning oblivion, but the sound of her own frantic heartbeat echoed in her ears, pounding against her chest with undeniable force.
What on earth was this? Was it never going to end?! They were both women should she really. Ugh, was she some kind of pervert? Damn it, damn it! Was she out of her mind? No matter how twisted she might be, she couldn’t possibly feel this way about her close friend.
Ahhhh! Could she have some kind of psychological issue?
A moment later, sensing that Chen Yushu had settled back into the pool, Lu Wei let out a shallow sigh of relief and slowly opened her eyes. With trembling hands, she poured herself a glass of wine and gulped it down anxiously. The cool liquid slid down her throat, finally allowing her to relax a little.
“Why can’t I get this to work? So annoying!” At some point, Chen Yushu had turned around and was leaning against the edge of the pool, tapping on her keyboard, exposing a large expanse of her back.
Lu Wei swallowed hard, slowly finished the wine in her glass, and poured another, placing it beside her. Seeing Chen Yushu growing increasingly agitated, she hurriedly rebuilt her mental defenses and said, “Give it to me, I’ll help you.”
“Hmph, finally remembered, did you?” Chen Yushu turned her head, her eyes full of reproach. “I thought you’d forgotten all about it while enjoying the hot springs.”
“Look at you, talking like that. It’s only a half-hour task. Hand it over.”
“You’d better keep your word and not embarrass yourself.” Chen Yushu pouted and lifted the computer to pass it over.
Seeing this, Lu Wei quickly stood up, splashing water everywhere in her haste. “Don’t move, I’ll come get it.”
“What’s the rush?” Chen Yushu raised the computer higher, complaining, “You almost splashed water into it.”
Lu Wei found it hard to explain herself. She wiped her hands dry and approached to take the computer. “I just saw that you were in a hurry.”
“Be careful with it.”
“Got it.” Lu Wei turned her back and sat down, feeling much less psychological pressure now that she didn’t have to face Chen Yushu directly.
Just then, a splash,
Ripples spread across the water. Lu Wei stiffened, every nerve acutely aware of Chen Yushu’s approach. Moments later, Chen Yushu sat down behind her, leaning in close.
