How I Accidentally Bent My Best Friend - Chapter 26.3
Finally, after submitting the screenshot, Chen Yushu logged into her long-unused account. The ranked interface showed Silver rank. She frowned. “I can’t play ranked with you, can I?”
“It’s fine. I’ll use a smurf account to carry you. We’ll reach King rank easily.”
“Don’t speak too soon, or you might embarrass yourself.”
“Who helped you climb ranks before?” Lu Wei pinched her ear. “You little ingrate.”
Chen Yushu tilted her head away. “Just invite me already.”
“Okay”
They started a ranked match. At this rank, it was like playing against bots for Lu Wei. She picked a carry role and dominated effortlessly. For Chen Yushu, it was even simpler playing support, she stuck with Lu Wei the entire game, occasionally using Heal and picking up easy kills, climbing ranks with ease.
Watching her rank steadily rise, Chen Yushu grew excited and urged, “Again, again!”
“You weren’t willing to play earlier,” Lu Wei said smugly. “Others beg me to carry them, and I Ah! Chen Yushu, why are you so violent.”
Chen Yushu didn’t let go of her ear, speaking in a sinister tone, “Then go find someone else.”
“I was talking nonsense! There’s no one else, and even if there were, I wouldn’t care for them. I only care about you.” Lu Wei endured the pain, grimacing as she spoke sweet words. “Good little sister, let go quickly. Your big sister will keep carrying you to rank up.”
Chen Yushu released her and chuckled with a playful scolding.
This round, Lu Wei was playing as the jungler. Chen Yushu hesitated over which support to pick when Lu Wei pointed at Yao and said, “Perfect, she matches me as a pair.”
“Huh?”
“I mean, these two heroes are a couple.”
Chen Yushu pursed her lips. “Oh, I see.”
The game started smoothly. After clearing the jungle, Chen Yushu followed Lu Wei and successfully ganked the top lane.
“First blood!”
At the same time, our team also lost a kill to the enemy.
Two announcements sounded in succession, followed by someone sending a “Well done!” and opening their mic to say, “What’s up with the support? Why aren’t you sticking with me?”
It was the bottom lane marksman, Marco.
“He’s just a noob, ignore him,” Lu Wei said calmly. “Stay with me.”
“He seems to be struggling against the enemy. Maybe I should go help him,” Chen Yushu thought for a moment and controlled Yao to jump off Yun Zhongjun.
Just then, the player spoke again on the mic, “Are the support and jungler attached at the hip? Damn! I hate it when couples queue together it’s so annoying!”
Lu Wei didn’t hold back either, immediately turning on her mic to reply, “The enemy marksman doesn’t have a support either. You’re the only one making a fuss. Don’t blame the game for your own lack of skill. If you can’t handle it, just lie down and take the L.”
“Damn, open your eyes and see who the enemy marksman is! Gongsun Li hard counters Marco don’t you know that?”
Lu Wei: “If you knew, why did you even engage? Were you deliberately trying to die?”
“Easy for you to say. If you’re so good, why don’t you ”
Before he could finish, Yun Zhongjun flew out of the bushes, diving straight for the enemy marksman under their tower, instantly deleting their health bar before gracefully retreating.
The player fell silent, only managing to mutter awkwardly after a long pause, “Just wait till I farm up, I’ll definitely. Hey support, come with me for a bit.”
Chen Yushu: “Lu Wei, I’m going to help him out. Will you be okay?”
Lu Wei turned off her mic, looked at her, and pouted pitifully. “No, I can’t win without you. I’ll get bullied. You have to protect me.”
“You don’t seem like…” But Lu Wei did look somewhat pitiful, so Chen Yushu couldn’t help but pat her head. “I believe in you. I’ll protect you next game.”
Though unhappy, Lu Wei grumbled and nodded.
She was still easy to coax.
After that, Lu Wei seemed to go on a killing spree, taking down anyone who came her way one or two at a time with kill announcements nonstop.
Meanwhile, after being killed by the enemy for the fourth time, Marco finally snapped. “Can the support even play? Yao is such a leech! Can’t even handle such a simple hero? Useless! All you know is getting carried by a jungler. You f*ing piece of sh.”
Chen Yushu was so furious she trembled, her voice shaking. “He messed up his own ultimate and didn’t recall even when he was low on health!”
Lu Wei, already in a bad mood from being abandoned mid-game, didn’t hold back when he provoked her and unleashed a torrent of sharp retorts.
“Don’t you have any self-awareness of how badly you’re playing? Throw some rice on the screen and even a chicken would play better than you! You’re so good at feeding, are you a delivery driver? With stats this pathetic, how dare you even speak up? What, did the census miss you, so you’re not afraid of embarrassing yourself?”
Marco: “You! I was talking to her, what’s it to you?”
Lu Wei immediately replied with sarcasm, “What do you think? We’re a couple queueing together. Shouldn’t I stand up for my dear? Or should I help you instead? As if you’re worth it.”
Chen Yushu slightly parted her lips, looking at the person beside her with a mix of shock and admiration, an involuntary sweetness bubbling up in her heart.
Lu Wei was still staring down at her phone, fingers flying across the screen.
Chen Yushu’s gaze returned to the screen. In the game, Yao stood alone by the river, looking lost and helpless. Just then, Yun Zhongjun flew down from above, landing in front of her.
“Darling, hop on.”
Though the words were directed at the in-game character, they struck Chen Yushu’s heart like raindrops hitting stone, splashing into countless ripples.
Chen Yushu nodded lightly and let out a soft “Mm-hmm.”
At that moment, Marco returned to the bottom lane from the fountain and, witnessing the scene, sent a “Well played!” voice message.
Lu Wei immediately cursed, “Idiot!” and turned to lead Chen Yushu toward the red buff area.
Seeing this, Marco also turned around and followed, sending another voice message: [Please give me the buff, thanks.]
Ignoring him, Lu Wei deliberately said, “Darling, take the red buff quickly.”
Marco instantly flared up, “Are you insane? What does a support like her need the red buff for?”
“If someone like you can play as a damage dealer, then anything’s possible! My red buff goes to whoever I want none of your business!” Lu Wei retorted sharply before shifting her tone to a sickly sweet one directed at Chen Yushu. “Right, darling?”
Chen Yushu let out a flustered “Ah,” her face growing warm.
“Darling, say something, won’t you?”
“Ahem yes,” Chen Yushu replied, holding her phone as she slowly lowered her head.
Marco had no choice but to leave in frustration.
Lu Wei, however, seemed addicted. Throughout the entire match, she kept calling Chen Yushu “darling” and “baby.” Following behind her, Chen Yushu’s face grew hotter and hotter, and she lowered her head even further.
“Baby, take the kill.”
“Darling, go clear the minion wave. The marksman will just recall anyway no point wasting it.”
“Wifey, follow me, come here.”
Chen Yushu’s embarrassment peaked, and she couldn’t take it anymore. She whispered, “Lu Wei, that’s enough.”
“Darling, what did you say?”
“Lu Wei!” Chen Yushu raised her voice slightly, leaning closer to Lu Wei’s ear. “Enough, stop saying those things.”
Lu Wei let out a puzzled “Hmm?” and tilted her head. Suddenly catching sight of Chen Yushu’s bright red ear tips, her interest only grew. “Is darling shy? If you’re not used to it, darling ow!”
Abruptly, Lu Wei’s words cut off, a pained expression flashing across her face. “Darling, you’re being way too harsh.”
Chen Yushu released the grip on her arm and warned in a low voice, “Say it again, and I won’t hold back!”
Lu Wei chuckled. “Alright, alright, I’ll stop.”
Soon, the two finished the match. Lu Wei exited and reported a player, then said, “My friend is online. Want to join a five-player team?”
Chen Yushu: “Sure.”
“OK, I’ll switch to my main account. Let’s play a casual match.”
“Mm.”
The five of them entered the matchmaking queue. After selecting their heroes, Chen Yushu noticed an icon under both Lu Wei’s and her friend’s in-game names. She couldn’t help but ask, “What’s this? Why do both of you have it?”
Lu Wei: “Oh, that’s the symbol for a best friend relationship. Later, I’ll set one up with you too.”
The game began. Chen Yushu, as usual, picked a support hero. As soon as they left the fountain, Lu Wei said, “Darling, follow me.”
The moment she spoke, someone in the team voice chat immediately reacted, “Whoa, was I hallucinating just now? Lu Wei, what’s going on?”
“When did you start dating? How come we didn’t know?”
Lu Wei: “Are you all insane? Date what? This is Chen Yushu.”
“Oh, it’s been so long since I last saw it, I forgot.”
“Then why did you call out randomly?”
“Exactly, I’m really done with some shameless nieces they’ll say anything without worrying about being misunderstood.”
The two people behind them were a same-sex couple, and upon hearing this, they both scoffed disdainfully.
Lu Wei: “Why the indirect accusations? We weren’t calling you. Shu Shu and I are perfectly innocent, what’s there to misunderstand?”
The speaker had no ill intent, but the listener took it to heart. Chen Yushu, controlling the hero on the screen, began to move stiffly.
After the match ended, Chen Yushu’s mind was still wandering. It wasn’t until Lu Wei called her that she snapped back to reality, realizing her fingertips had gone slightly numb. “I’m a bit tired. You guys play.”
“Wait,” Lu Wei stopped her. “Weren’t we going to bind our relationship?”
Chen Yushu’s lips quivered slightly. She wanted to say it wasn’t necessary, but then Lu Wei said, “Let’s just bind this one. Hurry up and accept it.”
“Lovers?” Chen Yushu stared at the words on the screen, stunned. She held her breath unconsciously and looked at Lu Wei in surprise.
Lu Wei: “Yeah, all the other relationship slots are taken.”
So that’s how it is. Of course, that makes sense.
“If there aren’t any left, forget it,” Chen Yushu said indifferently, exiting the game.
“But there’s still this slot available,” Lu Wei pouted, then raised an eyebrow with a grin. “And it’s a unique relationship, how great is that?”
Chen Yushu slowly clenched her hand into a fist, took a deep breath, and said, “Lu Wei, could you please not ”
“Hurry up,” Lu Wei, oblivious to her discomfort, snatched her phone, logged back into Honor of Kings, and tapped “Accept.” “There, you’re not allowed to unbind it.”
“There’s no need for this, really,” Chen Yushu lowered her gaze, her words carrying a double meaning.
“Why is there no need?” Lu Wei muttered, handing the phone back to her, her voice sullen. “At most, if you get a partner in the future, just.”
She suddenly couldn’t finish the sentence.
“Get a partner and then what?” Chen Yushu lifted her head and asked.
Lu Wei mumbled something under her breath, then said stubbornly, “Even if you get a partner, you’re not allowed to unbind with me! Don’t abandon your friends for a lover!”
Chen Yushu didn’t reply, instead reaching out her hand. “Give me my phone.”
“Promise me first!”
“Fine.”
“That’s more like it. Here, take it.” Lu Wei immediately brightened up. “Stay over tonight. Tomorrow, let’s go visit our teachers at school.”
Chen Yushu shook her head. “I’ll go back to sleep and come find you tomorrow.”
“Aw, come on! It’s been so long since I’ve cuddled with you to sleep.” Lu Wei immediately wrapped her legs around Chen Yushu’s waist from behind, whining, “Just keep me company, please? My dear Shu Shu~”
A wave of exhaustion washed over her, spreading through her entire body. Chen Yushu didn’t even have the strength to move her fingers and could only say, “Alright, let go. I want to lie down.”
“You’re the best, Shu Shu~” Lu Wei nuzzled her face against Chen Yushu’s back before releasing her and getting off the bed. “I’ll just brush my teeth and come back to keep you company.”
Chen Yushu hummed in response, lying on her side on the bed. Her phone screen still displayed the game interface, showing their new relationship status Lovers.
Too bad it’s just in the game.
Just then, a message popped up on QQ from a guy named Zhou Wen.
【I saw you were online in Honor of Kings earlier. Do you play this game too?】
Chen Yushu typed lazily, 【Occasionally.】
Zhou Wen: 【Me too. What a coincidence today. If you have time, we could play together sometime.】
Chen Yushu replied with an “Okay,” but in her heart, she thought she probably wouldn’t log into this game again.
Zhou Wen: “What position do you usually play?”
Zhou Wen: “I’m a 26-star King in Honor of Kings. I can play any role except support. I can definitely carry you to rank up.”
Chen Yushu frowned irritably as she watched the messages pop up one after another, replying briefly: “We’ll talk later. I’m going to sleep.”
After turning off her phone, she remained unsettled, unable to stop thinking about what Jiang Yuran had said.
“Darling” and “baby” rolling off the tongue, binding relationships at the drop of a hat ha! Nieces sure have plenty of tricks, all flirtation with no responsibility!
A fire suddenly ignited in Chen Yushu’s chest, her desire gradually burning out as rationality took over.
Lu Wei, that scumbag woman!
Fuming, Chen Yushu pulled out her phone and quickly jotted down a word in her memo.
casual. Carefree.
Just then, Lu Wei came out of the bathroom and lay down on the bed, noticing Chen Yushu typing on her phone. She teased, “Wow, you really are a top student, still memorizing words this late?”
Chen Yushu secretly rolled her eyes at her, then angrily got out of bed and stormed into the bathroom.
“What’s going on with her?” Lu Wei scratched her head in confusion.
When Chen Yushu came out of the bathroom and lay back down, Lu Wei immediately put on a sweet smile and snuggled up to her. “Shushu, you smell so good.”
The next second, she was met with a sharp rebuke: “Don’t touch me!”
Lu Wei flinched in surprise and watched as Chen Yushu wrapped herself in the blanket and scooted to the edge of the bed.
What on earth is wrong? Lu Wei blinked in bewilderment, then turned away in a huff. Why so fierce? Fine, no hugging then!
Hmph, I’ll just hug her after she falls asleep, hmph!
