How I Accidentally Bent My Best Friend - Chapter 19
“Come in, the dorm’s empty.” Lu Wei unlocked the door with the passcode and glanced inside as she entered.
This was Chen Yushu’s first time visiting Lu Wei’s dorm. Once inside, she couldn’t help but look around curiously. “Which bed is yours?”
Lu Wei casually tossed the package she was carrying onto the floor, then lifted her shirt, revealing a stretch of bare back and the black clasp of her bra.
Chen Yushu stood frozen in place, momentarily stunned.
“Here.” Lu Wei pointed with her finger, then turned around, fanning herself with her shirt. The black lace bra hugged her curves, faintly visible beneath the fabric.
Chen Yushu’s brain, still in the midst of crashing, suddenly kicked into overdrive, nearly overheating from the effort. After just one glance, she quickly turned her head away.
“Still holding that? Aren’t you tired?” Lu Wei asked, puzzled.
Only then did Chen Yushu notice the weight in her hands and carefully set the package down on the floor.
When she looked up again, she met Lu Wei’s curious gaze. Swallowing hard, she asked, “What?”
Lu Wei didn’t answer, her expression playful as she slowly walked toward her.
Chen Yushu unconsciously held her breath, her mind suddenly blank.
Soon, Lu Wei was standing right in front of her. Blood rushed through her body, surging straight to her head.
Then, Lu Wei brushed past her, leaving a faint trail of fragrance in the air. Reaching out, she pulled the door shut.
The thud of the door closing struck Chen Yushu’s heart like a hammer. She let out a long, relieved breath.
“It’s not like you haven’t seen it before. Why are you so nervous?” Lu Wei leaned against the ladder of the bunk bed, tilting her chin as she studied her.
Caught, Chen Yushu’s eyes flickered for a second before she forced a calm expression. “Who’s nervous? It’s not even that nice to look at.”
Hearing this, Lu Wei immediately frowned, glancing down at herself in doubt before suddenly breaking into a grin. “You sure about that?”
The teasing look on her face brought back unpleasant memories. Chen Yushu had no interest in continuing this flirtatious banter and said flatly, “I’m going back.”
Just as she turned the doorknob, a hand pressed against the door, closing it again.
“What are you doing?” Chen Yushu turned around, glaring at Lu Wei impatiently.
“They’ve got stuff to do this afternoon, they won’t be back. Stay and keep me company.”
Chen Yushu kept her grip on the doorknob. “I need to take a nap.”
“Then nap in my bed,” Lu Wei said, pressing her whole body against the door.
Right now, Chen Yushu really didn’t want to be alone with her. She twisted the knob and pulled hard. “Move. I’m going back.”
“No.” Lu Wei suddenly wrapped her arms around her, pushing her further inside. “I already said no one’s here. Why won’t you stay with me?” she whined, sounding almost pitiful.
Chen Yushu immediately shot back, “Why should I stay with you?”
“You, you’re seriously asking why?” Lu Wei looked at her in disbelief, her expression heartbroken. “What kind of relationship do we have that you’d even ask that?”
Chen Yushu sighed in resignation. Fine. Running away forever wasn’t a solution, she had to find a way to break this habit eventually.
“Then where will you sleep?” she asked, half-relenting.
Hearing this, Lu Wei happily shook her head and locked the door. “I’ll sketch for a bit down here. If you’re tired, just climb up and sleep.”
Chen Yushu gave a noncommittal hum, her gaze drifting over Lu Wei’s desk. On the right side were the newly collected textbooks, makeup still scattered in the middle. The first shelf held a few neatly arranged dolls, while the second was a mess of random items.
Lu Wei had just sat down when she felt someone’s gaze on her back. Instinctively, she shifted slightly and raised her elbow to block the view.
Chen Yushu watched her little antics with amusement, moving her hand away. “Get up.”
“What for?” Lu Wei turned to look at her, asking in a hushed voice like a child caught doing something wrong, her expression oddly docile.
Chen Yushu couldn’t resist. She cupped Lu Wei’s chin and gently stroked her cheek. “How can you draw with your desk this messy? Let me tidy it up for you.”
“Shushu, you’re the best.” Lu Wei immediately wrapped her arms around Chen Yushu’s waist, nuzzling her head against her stomach. “What would I do if you ever left me?”
“Cut it out.”
Though Lu Wei’s desk looked chaotic, there wasn’t actually much on it, and it was soon tidied up. There was still a stack of books left. Chen Yushu gathered the plushies together and began placing the books one by one on top, with Lu Wei helping beside her.
Their shoulders brushed, arms occasionally touching, and a faint fragrance lingered between them. Chen Yushu tried her best to ignore the person beside her. Once the books were neatly arranged, she stepped back. “Go ahead and draw. I’m going to bed.”
“Okay.”
Chen Yushu glanced at her before climbing onto the bed. The scent of Lu Wei’s perfume instantly filled her senses. She pulled the blanket closer, leaning in as if to breathe it in.
The next second, she shuddered, snapping back to reality. What kind of best friend does something like this?
Chen Yushu closed her eyes, calmly trying to lull herself to sleep.
Just then, something flew up and landed on her face. She grabbed it with her hand, and upon opening her eyes and realizing what it was, she flung it away as if electrocuted, shouting furiously, “Lu Wei!”
“What’s wrong?” The voice from below lifted in question.
“You threw your bra in my face!”
“Hahahaha, was my aim that good?” Lu Wei stood up, resting her hands on the edge of the bed as she laughed. “I didn’t mean to, believe me?”
Chen Yushu stared at her smug face, her fists clenching involuntarily. “Get lost!”
Lu Wei stuck out her tongue and sat back down.
Chen Yushu lay flat on the bed, her chest rising and falling irregularly. It took her a long while to calm down.
As drowsiness crept in and her consciousness began to blur, she felt something press against her. But she was too exhausted to open her eyes, and soon, she sank into darkness.
Gradually, the heat around her intensified, the rising warmth forcing Chen Yushu awake. Yet she felt pinned down, unable to move.
Thinking she was experiencing sleep paralysis, Chen Yushu’s breathing quickened. Struggling to open her eyes, she felt a mess of hair sprawled across her face, rhythmic breathing sounding beside her ear. Lu Wei’s face was inches away, deep in peaceful slumber.
In the cramped bed, half of Chen Yushu’s body was pinned under Lu Wei, making it impossible to move. She gritted her teeth, wishing she could kick her off right then and there.
If this kept up, she’d suffocate. Chen Yushu turned her head and whispered into Lu Wei’s ear, “Lu Wei! Get off me!”
Lu Wei remained completely unresponsive, her serene sleeping face only fueling Chen Yushu’s frustration. Raising her voice, she nudged Lu Wei’s face with her forehead. “Lu Wei! You’re crushing me! Get up!”
“Mmm…” Lu Wei’s brows twitched slightly, letting out a soft sound before drifting back to sleep.
Left with no choice, Chen Yushu resorted to struggling on her own. Not only did she fail to wake Lu Wei, but she also ended up drenched in sweat from the effort.
Panting, Chen Yushu glared at Lu Wei’s peacefully sleeping face, her teeth grinding in irritation. Unable to resist, she leaned in and bit Lu Wei’s cheek.
Finally, the pain roused Lu Wei awake. She reached up to touch the bitten spot, grumbling in dissatisfaction before cracking her eyes open to glance at Chen Yushu, only to close them again the next second. “How are you already awake?”
“If I didn’t wake up, I’d have been crushed to death by you!”
At this, Lu Wei shifted slightly, allowing Chen Yushu to wriggle free. Chen pressed her back tightly against the wall, leaving just a sliver of breathing space between them.
Yet, in the next moment, even that sliver was obliterated. Lu Wei rolled over, her long arm looping around Chen Yushu’s waist, one leg thrown over hers, and was fast asleep within seconds.
Chen Yushu stared at her for a long moment before closing her eyes in resignation, thinking that everything would be fine once she woke up after some sleep.
But sleep refused to come. Instead, a flood of thoughts surged forth, leaving her mind wide awake.
After futile attempts at every sleep-inducing method she knew, Chen Yushu gave up. She opened her eyes wide, glaring furiously at the face before her.
Yet, as she looked, the anger in her chest gradually ebbed away, replaced by an unnamed emotion that filled her gaze. Unafraid of being caught, she stared boldly, she couldn’t even remember when she had started daring to examine Lu Wei so closely.
Perhaps it was because her eyes held too much, making it easy to lose composure if their gazes met, so she could only retreat timidly.
The feelings grew stronger, thicker. Chen Yushu softened her breath and, as if bewitched, extended a single finger. A sliver of light fell upon Lu Wei’s face, moving as it traced from her forehead to her lips. Her finger lingered there, reluctant, before slowly curling back.
The storm in her heart refused to calm, waves crashing violently, threatening to drown her in an instant.
Chen Yushu parted her lips slightly, breathing shallowly. She forced her gaze away, letting her mind wander, only for it to circle back to Lu Wei every time.
After who knew how long, Lu Wei finally stirred awake. Still drowsy, she nuzzled into Chen Yushu’s chest and mumbled, “Why didn’t you take off your bra before sleeping? Isn’t it stuffy?”
Chen Yushu pushed her away and sat up. “Move. I’m getting up.”
“What time is it?” Lu Wei stretched an arm out, groping blindly for her phone on the inner side of the bed.
Instead of finding her phone, however, her hand brushed all over Chen Yushu’s thigh. Lu Wei immediately grinned. “So smooth!”
Chen Yushu had had enough. She grabbed Lu Wei’s wrist. “Keep touching me like that, and I’ll chop your hand off!”
Lu Wei looked utterly unfazed, replying like a shameless rogue, “An eye for an eye. You can always touch me back if you want.”
“Can’t be bothered with you.” Chen Yushu found the phone and handed it to her.
Lu Wei yawned, puzzled. “How is it already four?”
“You slept like a log. What’s so strange about that? Move. I’m getting down.”
“Then why did you wake up so early?” Lu Wei propped herself up on one elbow, tilting her head with playful interest. “Could it be, you wanted to sneak a kiss?”
Chen Yushu finally understood, Lu Wei made jokes like this just to see her flustered or annoyed, the same way she used to pull faces at her as a kid.
Expression unchanging, Chen Yushu met her gaze calmly and said flatly, “Yeah. How did you know?”
Lu Wei’s grin faltered. She pouted, unimpressed. “Boring.” Then she climbed out of bed.
A fleeting sense of victory rose in Chen Yushu, but it vanished as quickly as it came, leaving behind an empty, hollow ache.
However, she seemed to have found a way to deal with Lu Wei just like this, gradual desensitization would do the trick.
