How Can Two Scummy Alphas Fall in Love - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
“It’s nothing. Let’s go,” Han Fufu quickly returned to her normal state.
Yue Ying looked toward the other end of the corridor and saw Qin Qiao leading a woman into a private room.
She generally guessed that Han Fufu was unhappy because of this. Was it because of the woman Qin Qiao was holding?
Or was it… because of Qin Qiao herself?
Han Fufu didn’t answer Yue Ying’s confusion that night. She returned to her city apartment early, showered, and went to bed.
After finally falling asleep, Han Fufu, who rarely dreamed, had an entire night of dreams.
In her dreams, she saw Qin Qiao smiling at one Omega after another, taking them on dates.
It wasn’t until she saw Qin Qiao hugging and kissing the most cherished Omega that Han Fufu woke up in a cold sweat.
Han Fufu sat at the foot of the bed for a long, long time after waking up. The sky outside hadn’t fully brightened yet. She sat in the dim environment, staring blankly at the wooden floor.
Why am I having such an absurd dream?
Han Fufu considered herself indifferent to Qin Qiao’s private life. She even used to joke and tease whenever Qin Qiao mentioned a date over the phone…
Wait, what happened after the teasing?
Han Fufu remembered that every time she heard Qin Qiao was with someone else, she would subconsciously joke, then take the initiative to hang up the phone, feeling inexplicably depressed afterwards.
When did this emotion start?
“What is wrong with me…” Han Fufu gripped the fabric over her chest, tilting her neck back to try and steady her breathing.
Her emotions were so complicated that she even buttoned her shirt incorrectly while changing.
She cursed under her breath, threw the shirt onto the carpet, and grabbed one that didn’t require buttons.
Dressed, Han Fufu contacted her private psychologist. She decided to go talk to her mental health advisor. Working in her current state of intense vexation was sure to lead to mistakes.
After confirming the appointment time, Han Fufu did a set of body-sculpting exercises at home and then left. She didn’t have much work today, and given her low mood, she didn’t ask her assistant to arrange any itinerary.
Arriving alone at the psychology studio, Han Fufu sat across from the psychologist.
Dr. Helen, a psychological expert in her forties, smiled kindly. “My dear, it’s been a long time since you last visited.”
“Mhm. I was busy before, and there was no particular reason to come. I realized it’s been a while since my last therapy session, so I came to talk.” Han Fufu took a sip of the coffee in front of her. The bitter black coffee stimulated her tongue, making her frown involuntarily.
Dr. Helen chuckled, placing sugar cubes in front of Han Fufu. “You must be in a bad mood. I was negligent. Add some sugar.”
“Helen, I’m trying to lose weight. No carbs, no heavy sugar.” Han Fufu put down the cup. “It’s too bitter. I’ll just drink some water.”
“Alright.” Dr. Helen instructed her assistant to bring Han Fufu a glass of pure water.
After drinking the water, the bitterness in her mouth lessened, and Han Fufu’s brow relaxed slightly.
Dr. Helen first spoke about relaxing everyday topics, such as Han Fufu’s recent achievements and happy moments.
Once Han Fufu was fully relaxed, Dr. Helen got straight to the point. “Are you worried about matters of the heart?”
Han Fufu was surprised. “You’re truly a professional, Helen.”
“You are the emotional type of person, and you value relationships,” Dr. Helen raised a finger and shook it. “The reason you trust me so much is precisely because I helped pull you out of your first love complex.”
After being abandoned by her first love, Han Fufu fell into an emotional slump for a long time, even suffering from mental exhaustion. If it weren’t for Dr. Helen, she wouldn’t have returned to the right track so quickly.
“Yes, I have a new problem,” Han Fufu was not good at lying in front of Helen because there was no need to.
Han Fufu first recounted the recent events involving Qin Qiao to Helen. During the conversation, she recalled the past, telling the doctor about previously ignored feelings without reservation.
Many things are clear to the spectator but confusing to the player.
As an expert, Dr. Helen instantly understood Han Fufu’s feelings. She directly tore through the veil. “You like her. Your feelings for Miss Qin are possessive, and your relationship needs to be upgraded. Your current relationship no longer satisfies you.”
“She and I… are friends.”
Dr. Helen was amused. “She might still regard you as a friend, but you no longer feel that way.”
Han Fufu fell silent, her hands clasped together.
“If your relationship remains stagnant, problems will arise,” Dr. Helen pointed outside the window. “Spring has arrived, and flowers will bloom. If the sun is blinding, you should draw the curtains. Whenever a problem arises, it should be solved. A condition that is not treated and is allowed to linger will become chronic.”
“I don’t know what to do,” Han Fufu said honestly.
Dr. Helen remained quiet for a moment, then stood up and sat beside Han Fufu. “You are so capable at work. I don’t believe you truly have no idea how to handle this kind of situation. My dear, there are no outsiders here. Speak your thoughts aloud.”
Han Fufu looked into Dr. Helen’s eyes and couldn’t help but voice her deepest desire. “I want…”
The scene shifted, and Han Fufu was already at the entrance of the pharmaceutical research institute in the northern suburbs.
Under the guidance of the doctor, she finally understood what she needed to do to satisfy her possessiveness.
“I want all those Omegas to stay away from Qiao Qiao. Qiao Qiao only needs me.”
Han Fufu recalled what she had said in front of the psychologist.
If she wanted Qin Qiao to need her, she simply had to become the best cure for Qin Qiao’s pheromone addiction disorder.
Han Fufu came to the institute without notifying the staff in advance.
Director Liu, who was resting and drinking tea in the lab, was so startled when he saw the arrival that he almost spilled the tea on himself.
“CEO Han, how come you’re here?” Director Liu was scared by Han Fufu’s gloomy expression. He thought he had made some mistake and angered this ‘Prince.’
“I’m here to ask you about that breathing instrument,” Han Fufu tiredly pinched the bridge of her nose. “I need you to complete it for me today.”
“What…” Director Liu remembered that Han Fufu wanted the pheromone conversion device. He had been working on it and only had some finishing touches left. “CEO Han, that thing is almost done, but within one day… isn’t that a bit rushed?”
“Hm?” Han Fufu’s tone brooked no refusal.
Director Liu wiped the fine sweat from his forehead and nodded. “I will immediately arrange for people to work overtime to complete it for you.”
“I’ll be waiting in the adjacent lounge. Bring it to me as soon as it’s finished.” Han Fufu felt exhausted after giving these instructions. She hadn’t slept well last night. After delegating all the tasks, her anxiety instantly eased.
Director Liu, seeing that Han Fufu needed rest, quickly arranged for two interns to lead her to the lounge, placing tea and snacks on the coffee table inside.
Han Fufu didn’t want to be surrounded by so many people. She waved her hand and said, “Use this time for research. Come and inform me when your director finishes the device.”
The two interns were timid newcomers. They dared not say anything to Han Fufu, nodded, and left the lounge.
With the surroundings quiet, Han Fufu felt sleepy. She leaned against the sofa backrest and drifted into a light sleep.
She didn’t know how long she slept in a daze, but a phone call woke her up.
“Hello?” Han Fufu’s voice was tinged with irritation from being woken up.
Qin Qiao’s cool voice sounded. “Still sleeping at this hour?”
“Qiao Qiao?” Han Fufu’s voice softened, and she became fully awake.
Qin Qiao immediately spoke about a work matter over the phone. “I’m in your company’s reception room. Why aren’t you at the office?”
“A bit tired. Thought I’d take a day off.” Han Fufu felt her heart race just hearing Qin Qiao’s voice. Once she confirmed her feelings for someone, she would fall deeper and deeper.
Qin Qiao’s voice sounded urgent. “This matter requires your attention before the news spreads. You were planning a charity project recently, weren’t you? If you don’t handle this properly, the reputation of your project will suffer.”
“What exactly happened?” Han Fufu instinctively knew it wasn’t good news.
Qin Qiao sighed. “Xu Ran has fallen from a building. She also left a suicide note that explicitly accuses you. The media that arrived first managed to take photos, but I’ve controlled the spread of the news for now.”
“What?” Han Fufu sat up straight. “Why would she try to take her own life because of me?”
“She’s in the ICU, but she’s been saved for now,” Qin Qiao’s voice was serious. “I sent an expert to the scene and found signs of other people being present. It’s likely not a suicide attempt; someone didn’t want her alive. Come to your office first. We’ll discuss the details when we meet.”
With such an emergency, Han Fufu immediately pulled herself together. She checked her appearance in the lounge mirror and prepared to leave.
Just as she stepped out, Director Liu happened to approach, holding a bracelet-like device.
“CEO Han, are you leaving?” Director Liu held up the device. “I’ve improved this instrument. It’s completed now. Please take it.”
Han Fufu glanced at the device and casually put it on her wrist.
“Wait, wait, CEO Han, try not to wear it when you’re not using it. Once this instrument is activated, your pheromones will be perceived as an Omega’s scent by outsiders,” Director Liu specially warned. “The device was just developed. I’m concerned the switch might be easily accidentally triggered, so please be careful.”
Han Fufu looked down at the instrument bracelet on her wrist, acknowledged the warning, and left.
With the situation critical, Han Fufu nearly sped all the way. As soon as she arrived at the company building, she headed straight for the CEO’s office.
Opening the door, Han Fufu immediately asked Qin Qiao, “What’s the situation now?”
“I’ve paid to suppress the media on your behalf, and I’ve had experts monitoring the scene. As for Xu Ran, I arranged for doctors to consult, so there’s no immediate danger to her life,” Qin Qiao tapped the papers on the table. “I came to you because of the charity project. Don’t launch it for now. We’ll find another time. Until this matter is clearly resolved, neither of us should act unilaterally.”
“I know. We both invested money. I won’t let you incur any losses.” Han Fufu sat down next to Qin Qiao and picked up the case files on the table to read.
The moment Han Fufu sat down, Qin Qiao smelled a faint, intriguing fragrance.
“Are you wearing perfume?” Qin Qiao asked casually.
Han Fufu was focused on reading the details of the case and vaguely replied, “Probably the scent of my laundry detergent.”
Qin Qiao didn’t dwell on the scent on Han Fufu’s body. The two worked on handling Xu Ran’s situation until evening.
They minimized the spread of the case and reviewed all the challenging points. They also rescheduled the charity project to ensure foolproof safety.
“We’re mostly done. If you’re free, let’s have dinner together,” Qin Qiao glanced at her watch.
Han Fufu was still pondering the ins and outs of the Xu Ran incident. She pinched her chin in thought. “I feel this matter is not simple. It’s not just about someone wanting to get rid of Xu Ran. The real target might be us.”
“You’re right. I had the same idea. Let’s talk while we eat. Look how thin you are. You shouldn’t compromise your health even while trying to lose weight.” Qin Qiao stood up, ready to take Han Fufu to dinner, but as soon as she stood, she smelled the fragrance again.
The scent was getting stronger. The aroma was difficult to describe, a woody scent mixed with an invigorating sweetness.
