Honey, Open The Door. I Want To Give You The Room Key - Chapter 50.1
Liu Yu boarded a plane to England in the middle of the night. By the time she arrived, the sun was just beginning to set over the British Isles.
She had a banquet to attend in England that very night. Liu Yu put on her eye mask and closed her eyes, contemplating the business awaiting her.
Zhu Yan and two bodyguards sat to her left and right. Shang Qing sat beside her in the middle; she had accompanied Liu Yu specifically to prevent her from entering her heat cycle prematurely.
Shang Qing fell asleep as soon as she boarded the plane. Liu Yu glanced sideways at Shang Qing behind the partition before lowering her own eye mask to drift into sleep.
As the plane crossed the Atlantic, a crack of thunder split the sky, but the aircraft flew steadily through the wall of thunderclouds.
Thirteen hours later, the plane touched down. Liu Yu removed her mask and, led by her space, was the first to exit the cabin.
Shang Qing stretched contentedly. “That was a comfortable sleep. We’re already here.”
“Let’s go. We need to change and get styled first. Tonight is Countess Anna’s banquet; we mustn’t be impolite,” Liu Yu said as she stepped into the black Bentley driven by her chauffeur.
Whenever Liu Yu attended banquets abroad, she almost always appeared in suits, rarely wearing anything else. This was a precaution to prevent any unexpected incidents.
Dressed in a bespoke dark red suit, Liu Yu quietly entered Countess Anna’s manor. Shang Qing wore a white suit, her usual reckless grin replaced by an air of refined, humorous elegance.
It was a small gathering with only eight guests in attendance.
“Welcome to our old friend, Liu,” Countess Anna greeted. She was a stunning female Alpha, her dazzling blonde hair complementing her fair skin beautifully.
Dressed in a grand, sophisticated black evening gown, the Countess opened her arms to welcome her. “Liu, it has been a long time.”
Liu Yu stepped forward and gave her a light embrace. “It is only because you refuse to accept my invitations to visit Luzhou City.”
“I cannot bear the weather in Luzhou,” Countess Anna sighed, clutching her heart in mock sorrow.
“I could specifically simulate the English climate in a villa for you to make you more comfortable,” Liu Yu responded with a smile as she released Anna’s hand.
“What is the point of going to Luzhou if I cannot go out and play? There are so many beautiful sights and people there; keeping me in a villa would be far too distressing.” Countess Anna winked at Liu Yu, who understood exactly what she meant.
Countess Anna was the head of the Stanley family, though she preferred to be called simply Anna.
“Tonight, I have invited two other Earls, as well as the newly instated Countess Lindsay. She is a very elegant Omega lady, exceptionally beautiful,” Anna whispered, leaning toward Liu Yu.
“Are you looking to arrange a marriage alliance, Anna?” Liu Yu asked, looking directly at her.
She had an uneasy premonition. Anna gave a faint, squinting smile. “Countess Lindsay has her own arrangements; she isn’t fond of political marriages.”
Liu Yu’s deep pupils stared intently at Anna. Anna instinctively looked away, her smile becoming somewhat forced.
“Let’s not discuss such things at dinner. Today is just a meeting; Countess Lindsay expressed interest in discussing business with you,” Anna promised, meeting Liu Yu’s eyes.
She knew Liu Yu loathed the idea of arranged marriages. Although Liu Yu held no British peerage, her family lineage was ancient and no less powerful than theirs.
As Liu Yu and Anna walked into the banquet hall, Shang Qing was already chatting with the others, making everyone burst into laughter.
“Oh, Qing, you are far too humorous,” a beautiful British noble Omega laughed softly, covering her mouth. Her skin glowed with a crystalline brilliance, and her eyes were so expressive they seemed to speak.
“That is Countess Lindsay,” Anna said, standing beside Liu Yu and looking satisfied with the lively atmosphere.
Liu Yu observed the table; there wasn’t an unattractive person among them. Their movements were elegant and their conversation witty—the epitome of high society.
“Oh, have Countess Anna and Miss Liu arrived?” A man sitting in the deputy seat rose to introduce Liu Yu to the group.
“Liu, the head of the Liu family and a dear friend of Countess Anna,” Lucas, Anna’s friend, announced.
Countess Lindsay, who had been talking to Shang Qing, looked up at Liu Yu, a flash of admiration in her eyes.
Liu Yu was undeniably charismatic. Her facial structure was sharp, and her gaze held a commanding authority that could make one’s knees weak. It was the posture and expression of a true ruler—the kind Lindsay had rarely seen. Lindsay was very satisfied. Her family had recently faced turmoil; with Liu Yu’s involvement, they could reach new heights.
Noticing the interest in Lindsay’s eyes, Liu Yu’s gaze turned cold. She glanced meaningfully at Anna.
Anna spoke up with a smile, “Everyone here is a good friend. Thank you all for accepting my invitation to the manor.”
“Liu, please sit.” Anna arranged for Liu Yu to sit opposite Lindsay, with Shang Qing by her side.
Liu Yu’s brow cooled, though her smile deepened—a sign that made Anna uneasy. Indeed, this banquet had been arranged specifically for Lindsay. Among the available Alphas for an alliance, Liu Yu was undoubtedly the most suitable for Anna’s cousin. If Lindsay’s family prospered, Anna would gain more benefits. With Liu Yu’s involvement, their assets and influence would rise.
So, I’m sorry, Liu.
Liu Yu looked at the lavish, meticulously prepared courses. The banquet followed the highest standards of etiquette.
Lindsay gracefully used her cutlery to slice a “cherry” made of foie gras, placing it delicately in her mouth. She looked at Liu Yu with a shimmering gaze. “Liu, today’s dishes are excellent, with very bold flavors.”
“Indeed. A cherry made of foie gras with a fruit jam glaze—the chef’s pairing is very thoughtful,” Liu Yu replied, sampling a small piece.
“Is Luzhou City fun, Liu?” Lindsay took the initiative to start a conversation. Her eyes were like those of a fawn—pure, agile, and filled with an innocent curiosity about the world.
They chatted through the meal, discussing current events. Lindsay’s insights were impressive; she spoke slowly but with piercing accuracy, showing a very keen intuition.
“The recent Congressional adjustments were eye-opening. Many new opportunities have been created,” Lindsay said as she ate the lemon-smoked fish.
Shang Qing sat to the side, eating while occasionally glancing at Liu Yu to ensure she wasn’t angry. She let the rest of the conversation go in one ear and out the other.
“New energy and AI happen to be the projects Liu is currently following. Would you like to test the waters in England, Liu?” Countess Anna pivoted the conversation.
“I don’t have plans for expansion just yet, but I can certainly look into the market conditions first,” Liu Yu replied smoothly with a non-committal smile.
She guessed that Lindsay’s family had likely invested in these sectors and wanted someone to lead them into the market quickly. Liu Yu happened to have these projects in hand and was currently interfacing with the market; the feedback over the past two years had been excellent.
Lindsay heard the polite rejection in Liu Yu’s words but remained smiling, gracefully eating her pudding dessert without saying more.
After the banquet, Liu Yu bid farewell to Countess Anna. Anna stood at the entrance of the main hall, watching Liu Yu leave. Once she was gone, Lindsay stepped out from the hall. “Liu didn’t take an interest in me.”
“Because of her family history, Liu loathes arranged marriages. Tonight’s invitation was already quite an overstep,” Anna sighed. She still liked Liu as a friend; she was a straightforward partner who had helped her a lot. After tonight, Anna knew she would have to make amends. Fortunately, it hadn’t even officially been labeled a blind date.
“Let’s drop this matter for now. We’ll find another way,” Countess Anna said to her cousin.
“Alright.” Lindsay’s car arrived. “Cousin, I’ll take my leave then.”
Anna watched Lindsay drive away before returning to the hall.
“That Countess Lindsay was looking at you a lot today. She really is beautiful,” Shang Qing said, finally relaxing and unbuttoning her suit jacket.
“Tonight’s setup was meant to introduce me to Countess Lindsay. Unfortunately, the current business environment in England isn’t very friendly to foreign merchants,” Liu Yu explained.
“But I could clearly see she was judging your value,” Shang Qing said mischievously.
“There was that element,” Liu Yu turned to look out the window. It was pitching black outside, the streetlights dim.
“Good thing you didn’t take the bait. Otherwise, what would Lou Qingshuang do?” Shang Qing leaned back and yawned.
Thinking of Lou Qingshuang, a faint smile appeared in Liu Yu’s eyes. Currently, Lou Qingshuang wasn’t as resistant to her, though she wasn’t particularly close either. Everything followed the agreed-upon protocol, which was an improvement over before; previously, Lou Qingshuang had been visibly repulsed by her proximity.
The two returned to Liu Yu’s hotel chain, heading straight to the penthouse suite she always stayed in. Shang Qing lived next door, ready to be called at any time.
“I hope your heat doesn’t come early this time. I’m really worried your glands might just collapse,” Shang Qing said, her eyes full of concern as she opened her door.
“Nothing unusual has happened yet, so don’t worry. The medication you prescribed is controlling it well,” Liu Yu said, acknowledging her friend’s hard work.
Meanwhile, in Luzhou City, Liu Cheng stepped out of his mistress’s room. He opened his phone to see a text: Liu Yu has gone to England.
Liu Cheng raised an eyebrow, a satisfied smile spreading across his face. Since Liu Yu was in England, he could send her a “little gift.”
