- Chapter 31.2 - Liu Yu, Is Your Room Card Still Valid?
She had originally intended to let Lou Qingshuang jump into her arms of her own accord, trapping the person by her side. Now that she truly had jumped, Liu Yu felt she couldn’t bear it. The Lou Qingshuang who jumped in was not the Lou Qingshuang she wanted.
She wanted that Lou Qingshuang who smiled like a flower and would show her true self at any time—that was a blooming and enchanting rose.
Now, her rose was not blooming.
Liu Yu lowered her eyes to look at Lou Qingshuang’s face. Unease, fear, dread, and anxiety were all in her expression. Her brow was high and furrowed; she was not sleeping peacefully.
Liu Yu sighed in her heart, stood up, and went to get makeup remover oil, facial cleanser, and wet wipes.
She used the wipes dipped in makeup remover to wipe away the light makeup on Lou Qingshuang’s face bit by bit, revealing a face that was exquisite and beautiful even without cosmetics.
Liu Yu held a towel, looking at Lou Qingshuang’s countenance; she was still very anxious and in pain. She was all too familiar with this state. Liu Yu smoothed out the frown between her brows.
“Everything will be fine,” Liu Yu whispered, brushing back her hair.
Lou Qingshuang opened her eyes in a haze and saw Liu Yu’s tender gaze and the silhouette of her walking away with the water basin. She wordlessly called out, Liu Yu.
The anxiety in Lou Qingshuang’s heart still hadn’t dissipated. Her mother’s illness made it impossible to feel at ease for even a single day.
Liu Yu, will the words you said be fulfilled?
Lou Qingshuang closed her eyes, and a tear slid from the corner of her eye into the pillow.
Half an hour later, Lou Qingshuang’s body jerked and she suddenly opened her eyes, sitting up on the sofa and gasping for breath.
“Had a nightmare?” Liu Yu looked up from her tablet at her.
The moment she saw Liu Yu, the heart that Lou Qingshuang had held in her throat eased slightly. She walked straight toward Liu Yu, her bare feet stepping on the cashmere carpet.
Liu Yu leaned back on the sofa and looked up as Lou Qingshuang walked over. The light from the tablet fell onto Liu Yu’s blue-light-blocking glasses, also reflecting Lou Qingshuang’s staggering silhouette. She reached out her hand to Lou Qingshuang, and Lou Qingshuang placed her hand in Liu Yu’s.
With a gentle pull from Liu Yu, Lou Qingshuang tumbled onto the sofa. She slowly turned and sat properly. Liu Yu placed the tablet in front of Lou Qingshuang; on it was her mother’s surgical plan.
Lou Qingshuang held the tablet, looking at the plan. A warm earphone was placed in Lou Qingshuang’s ear. Inside, the doctors of the surgical team were discussing the optimal plan and the surgical process.
Lou Qingshuang looked up steadily at Liu Yu, her eyes full of tears, and said in a raspy voice, “Thank you.”
Liu Yu reached out and wiped her tears away. “Keep watching.”
Liu Yu sat on the sofa accompanying Lou Qingshuang. Lou Qingshuang’s legs and body were curled up together on the sofa as she listened seriously to the doctors’ discussion. Finally, the doctors decided that next week, once Shen Qiao’s bodily functions recovered to the condition required for surgery, they could prepare for the operation.
When resources reached the top tier, the speed of this group of doctors could be terrifyingly fast. The heart matching had already been done; they only had to wait until the patient’s body could withstand the surgery.
It was the first time Lou Qingshuang had seen what top-tier resources meant.
Her mother, who had lost her breath at noon and had been unable to wait for a biological artificial heart, now had her life completely secured.
Lou Qingshuang felt dazed as if in a dream, and her head was light. Had she previously rejected the room card handed over by a world-class backer? What should she do now that she regretted it?
Lou Qingshuang stared blankly at Liu Yu, her curly long hair making her look a bit cute. “Why are you looking at me like that?” Liu Yu asked her.
“If I wanted a room card now, would you give it?” Lou Qingshuang spoke her heart’s desire in her dazed state.
Liu Yu raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smile appearing beneath her sharp brow. “What, you want it now?”
Lou Qingshuang nodded obediently. By clinging to Liu Yu, she wouldn’t have to think about anything at all. Hanging onto Liu Yu’s thigh and looking down upon the world—the thought made her happy. Lou Qingshuang felt like laughing when she imagined herself turning into a tiny palm-sized person clinging to Liu Yu’s thigh.
Liu Yu looked at the much-relaxed Lou Qingshuang, a shallow smile also on her face. At least someone still had a mother.
Lou Qingshuang set down the tablet, opened her arms to Liu Yu, and hugged her. “Thank you. Without you, I might not have a mother today.”
Sitting on the sofa, Liu Yu breathed in the scent of Lou Qingshuang—a cool, light fragrance. The scent of roses didn’t appear, yet she could already feel the rose blooming.
Liu Yu’s large hand rested on Lou Qingshuang’s hair and slid down gently, her fair fingers comforting her.
The gentleness she released made Lou Qingshuang almost think she was her closest lover.
Wordless comfort and the most powerful help—all of these made Lou Qingshuang feel somewhat dizzy and a bit alarmed, like a tower floating in the air with no sense of being grounded at all, because she knew very well that Liu Yu didn’t have the slightest intention of pursuing her.
In the end, Lou Qingshuang leaned against Liu Yu, enjoying her company. “Thank you. Liu Yu, if you need to get through your heat period in the future, you can find me.” Lou Qingshuang spoke her most useful promise with red ears.
“Okay,” Liu Yu agreed.
In the dim light, the two embraced, yet there was not a hint of ambiguity.
“Do you want to go home to rest, or rest here?” Liu Yu asked in a mellow, low voice laced with a bit of tenderness.
Lou Qingshuang didn’t dare return to that empty house where her mother wasn’t there. She looked up at Liu Yu. “Can I stay at your house for the night?”
She was afraid that as soon as she went back, she would remember the image of her mother lying motionless on the sofa, not breathing. Lou Qingshuang had watched the home surveillance footage repeatedly; every time she closed her eyes, it was the memory of her mother falling over.
“Then go take a bath.” Liu Yu stood up and pulled Lou Qingshuang up, taking her to the bathroom and giving her her own unworn new pajamas.
“You sleep in this guest room.” Liu Yu pointed to the guest room to the right of the master bedroom.
Lou Qingshuang held the clothes and lightly bit her lower lip, her eyelashes trembling. “Can I sleep on the sofa? I feel at ease sleeping there.”
Liu Yu looked at her expectant eyes and nodded. “You can. I won’t close the door tonight; you can call me if you need anything.”
“Thank you.” Lou Qingshuang thanked Liu Yu, turned around under Liu Yu’s gaze, and entered the bathroom holding the clothes.
Liu Yu crossed her arms and leaned against the door listening to the sounds in the bathroom. Then she straightened up and went back to her room.
Wearing Liu Yu’s silver sleep robe, Lou Qingshuang walked out. Her hair was tied up, and the few strands that occasionally fell were dampened by the steam.
Under the heat, her skin was pinkish and snow-white, still emitting a faint mist.
She placed all her clothes on the table and used a dry towel to wipe the water from her hair. Lou Qingshuang sat on the sofa with her legs together, wearing pinkish-white fluffy slippers, gently drying her hair.
At this moment, she carried a unique alluring quality. Liu Yu stood at the bedroom door watching her, then turned and slowly returned to her own bedroom, leaving Lou Qingshuang a bit of private space.
Shen Qiao, who had slept all afternoon, couldn’t quite sleep and was lying in bed chatting with Aunt Wu.
“Madam, you were too naughty today; you nearly scared us all to death.” Aunt Wu used a cotton swab dipped in water to moisten Shen Qiao’s lips. She couldn’t drink too much water today.
“Really?” Shen Qiao only felt that when she fainted, her body was as light as if it were flying. she even saw her lover, wearing a white coat and telling her to wake up quickly and not to sleep.
In a daze, Shen Qiao remembered that she seemed to have seen a very handsome girl and wanted to introduce her to Shuangshuang.
But that was probably a dream. True, one could only see such bizarre and wonderful people in dreams. It was just a pity—that girl really was good-looking; it was a shame she didn’t get to look at her for a few more moments.
Shen Qiao sighed in her heart and then continued to listen to Aunt Wu’s rambling. It felt good.
In the middle of the night, Lou Qingshuang woke up from a nightmare again. She sat on the sofa gasping for breath, her face covered in sweat.
As soon as she fell asleep, she dreamed of her mother’s breathless face, lying on the sofa all blue and white waiting for her.
She was the only one there, and no matter how she called, her mother wouldn’t wake up.
Lou Qingshuang threw off the quilt and walked barefoot toward Liu Yu’s room.
She needed someone to tell her that nothing had happened, that her mother was still fine.
Lou Qingshuang navigated through the darkness toward Liu Yu’s room, but when she reached the door, she stopped. She stood quietly at the door looking at the person sleeping on the bed.
The quiet sound of breathing eased the fear in Lou Qingshuang’s heart quite a bit. She leaned against the wall and looked up at the ceiling in the darkness.
The cool wall made Lou Qingshuang feel a bit better.
At some point, Liu Yu got out of bed and turned on a small lamp, illuminating the darkness. Lou Qingshuang, leaning against the wall, looked toward her and asked knowingly, “Did I wake you up?”
“I haven’t fallen asleep yet.” Liu Yu was wearing only a loose and comfortable short-sleeved pajama set.
“Liar,” Lou Qingshuang chuckled, her head leaning against the wall.
Liu Yu watched her leaning against the wall and beckoned to her. “Come.”
Wearing the silver sleep robe with her hair lazily draped over her shoulders, Lou Qingshuang looked captivating. She carried a sense of melancholy and brokenness, an underlying suppression of wanting to let herself go. Lou Qingshuang was a contradictory person—on the surface, she was a cold snow mountain, but privately, she had a wild side.
She lifted her porcelain-white feet and stepped onto the floor, walking toward Liu Yu step by step, still humming lightly, “Liar.”
“Then I’ll lie to you to get you to sleep.” Liu Yu took Lou Qingshuang’s hand and led her back to the sofa. Lou Qingshuang sat on the sofa hugging her legs, looking at Liu Yu without any sleepiness.
Liu Yu pulled the hands that Lou Qingshuang was using to hug her legs, letting her slowly lie down. Her head rested on the pillow, and Liu Yu sat behind the pillow to accompany her. “Sleep. I’m here.”
Liu Yu smoothed Lou Qingshuang’s hair to get her to close her eyes. Lou Qingshuang refused to close them, so Liu Yu directly placed her palm over her eyes, blocking out all the light.
Forced to close her eyes, Lou Qingshuang slowly drifted into sleep. She hadn’t expected that one day she would need to smell Liu Yu’s scent to have a sense of security.
Liu Yu’s hand stroked her beautiful hair, accompanying her into sleep.
There was no light through the curtains, though some flickering shadows from outside were reflected into the room.
Everything was so warm.
Liu Yu looked at the swaying shadows of the trees outside and her eyes also slowly closed, yet her hand continued to gently stroke Lou Qingshuang’s hair stroke by stroke. This kind of slight combing would make a person relax.
With her eyes closed, Liu Yu also soon fell asleep. Having gone through three days of her heat period, she was already very tired, and today had been a long ordeal. Liu Yu fell asleep as soon as she closed her eyes.
People who are asleep cannot control their desire to sleep more comfortably.
The two silhouettes at some point became intertwined. The cashmere blanket covered them both, and the daylight from outside began to shine into the room.
When Lou Qingshuang opened her eyes, she was half-sprawled in Liu Yu’s embrace. She was a bit dazed; how did they end up sleeping together?
Lou Qingshuang lifted her head to take a look; the cashmere blanket was practically wrapped around the two of them. Lou Qingshuang was pressed tightly against Liu Yu’s chest.
Lou Qingshuang cautiously looked up. she remembered they hadn’t slept like this last night.
Lou Qingshuang wanted to slip away before Liu Yu woke up; it was so awkward being like this when they clearly hadn’t done anything.
Lou Qingshuang’s body was sideways on the sofa, and as she used some force—”Hiss.” Her hair was caught under Liu Yu.
“Why are you lying here?” Liu Yu was awakened by her movement and slowly opened her eyes, thinking she was in her own bed.
“You’re pressing on my hair.” Lou Qingshuang awkwardly tugged at her hair, signaling Liu Yu to turn over.
Liu Yu sat up and separated her hair from Lou Qingshuang’s, which were tangled together.
“Last night, I fell asleep sitting here,” Liu Yu said, rubbing her forehead.
She lifted the cashmere blanket and changed the subject. “Go wash up first. After we eat, I’ll have someone take you to the hospital.”
“Okay.” Lou Qingshuang also put on her shoes and went to the bathroom.
Liu Yu watched Lou Qingshuang flee in a hurry and sighed in relief. She still had no intention of taking advantage of someone while their mother was ill; that would be too base.
