- Chapter 26 - Liu Yu's Protection of Lou Qingshuang
Liu Yu leaned back on the sofa. The walkie-talkie on the coffee table crackled with sound. “Director Liu, Ms. Lou has already left.”
“Understood.”
Liu Yu leaned back with her eyes closed, feeling the cold wind blowing in. Her body was still drenched in sweat, yet she didn’t feel as miserable as she had the previous night.
Her gland still bore the teeth marks left by Lou Qingshuang—red indentations—and Lou Qingshuang’s pheromones remained within her body, soothing her restless, surging heat.
The cold wind stirred Liu Yu’s hair. She opened her eyes indifferently; her strands partially obscured her gaze, revealing eyes that were cold and profound. Having regained her reason, Liu Yu was as intimidating as ever.
Lou Qingshuang’s comfort last night had allowed her to discover a treasure: Lou Qingshuang’s pheromones were incredibly compatible with her own.
Earlier this morning, Liu Yu had a doctor collect data on her pheromone glands. She would soon know exactly what the compatibility percentage between her and Lou Qingshuang was.
On the other side, Zhu Rui looked at the trending topics—where the entire internet had been silenced—and a bad premonition grew in her heart.
To whom did that vehicle in the photo actually belong?
Zhu Rui began asking around among her acquaintances, but no one would tell her. Those who were well-informed had already begun to distance themselves from her in silence.
Shen Yue had also seen the trending search. Her face was dark and grim; she wanted to interrogate Lou Qingshuang, but she currently had no standing to do so. Shen Yue stared gloomily at Lou Qingshuang in the photo.
“Senior, can you help me check a license plate number?” Shen Yue contacted her ex-girlfriend for the first time.
“Heh, sure. It’s rare for you to ask me for a favor,” the other person’s voice was cold and elegant.
“Thank you, Senior.” Shen Yue’s ex was someone working in a government department.
A minute later, Shen Yue received only a single word: Liu.
The other party was very cautious, immediately retracting the message after sending it, clearly unwilling to leave any incriminating evidence.
Seeing how cautious her senior was, Shen Yue’s heart immediately filled with unease. With her senior’s background, there was no need to act this way unless this person was someone her family deeply feared.
Shen Yue cycled through the names of top business tycoons in Luzhou in her mind, finally landing on one: Liu Yu.
Shen Yue’s pupils dilated and then constricted rapidly. Her heart instinctively pounded violently. Could it really be Liu Yu?
If it was Liu Yu, she had absolutely no power to resist.
Shen Yue was not yet willing to burn her bridges completely.
Shen Yue suddenly remembered Lou Qingshuang’s elaborate dress that night. Combined with her refusal to be intimate with her, Shen Yue realized that perhaps Lou Qingshuang was Liu Yu’s “canary” or kept woman.
Sitting in her seat, Shen Yue felt as if she had fallen into an ice cellar; her entire body went cold. How could she have failed to notice?
The more she thought, the more terrified she became. If Liu Yu truly wanted to blacklist someone, there was nowhere to hide within the country.
Shen Yue raised her hand to cover her forehead, hiding her pained expression.
She couldn’t stay here anymore. She had to leave Beijing.
Shen Yue quickly made a rational analysis. The person behind Lou Qingshuang certainly wouldn’t watch Zhu Rui bully her without acting; they would definitely step in to dismantle the Lan Dai Company.
She had to strike first—discarding Zhu Rui to save herself. She also had to temporarily give up on Shuangshuang. Shuangshuang, wait for me to return.
Lou Qingshuang, wearing a black wool coat, opened the car door. Her black Martin boots stepped into the vehicle. Just as she started the car, she received a message. The smile on Lou Qingshuang’s face vanished instantly.
She looked at a text sent from a strange, unknown number:
Shuangshuang, I’m sorry. I was just too desperate for revenge. I wanted to make Zhu Rui go bankrupt and make Lan Dai disappear, so I proactively designed a trap for Zhu Rui to jump into. I left behind traces of her plagiarism. Before I was ten, my surname was Zhu Yue. After ten, my mother fell ill, and Zhu Rui refused to pay for her treatment, abandoning us. That’s why I took my mother’s surname, Shen.
I’m sorry for ruining your hard work. Here are all the evidences of Zhu Rui’s crimes. I originally intended to submit them myself.
Shen Yue sent a long paragraph and an email address, letting Lou Qingshuang check it herself. She also hoped Lou Qingshuang would, for the sake of their past, not report her to Liu Yu.
As Lou Qingshuang finished reading the confession, her eyes remained full of irony. Shen Yue apologized several times, ending with:
I am leaving Beijing for abroad. Take care of yourself. This evidence is enough for you to crush Lan Dai and let Wanshuang move a step further.
A drop of water fell onto the screen, blurring Lou Qingshuang’s vision.
Shen Yue was once again using this method to show weakness, hoping she wouldn’t retaliate.
The matter with the photos… I wasn’t the one who leaked them, nor did I follow you. I’m leaving and I’m never coming back.
Shuangshuang, I love you, but I am also sorry.
Before boarding the plane, Shen Yue sent out this final message. She was in a hurry to leave, unwilling to be part of Lan Dai’s self-destruction.
Shen Yue’s sensitivity was much higher than Zhu Rui’s; seeing things were going south, she decided to flee immediately. She also knew that for the sake of their years together, Lou Qingshuang would surely let her go.
The moment Shen Yue boarded the plane, she felt that Lou Qingshuang was truly far away from her. She lowered her head, a tear hitting the shuttle bus. It was her own doing.
Lou Qingshuang didn’t yet know that Shen Yue had been scared off by Liu Yu. The evidence provided was indeed enough to drag Lan Dai to its death.
The protection Liu Yu provided had already begun.
Lou Qingshuang drove out of the underground garage. The rain outside drifted into the car, cold and damp. The light on her phone screen faded.
As soon as Bai Wan arrived at the office, she saw Lou Qingshuang waiting in her room. “Take a look at this evidence,” Lou Qingshuang said. She had exported the items from the email using an old, rarely-used tablet; she was still guarding against Shen Yue doing something malicious.
Bai Wan took the computer and saw a vast amount of Lan Dai’s internal information, including products that were launched under the guise of “experimental samples” without being filed, which had caused problems for many people.
Bai Wan read through them one by one. There was even evidence of Lan Dai illegally acquiring small companies using the exact same predatory methods they were currently using against them.
“Is Lan Dai really this inhuman?” Bai Wan said indignantly.
“Why do you think she suddenly sent me all of this?” Lou Qingshuang stood by the window, watching the light rain outside.
“A sudden conscience, maybe? You’re not allowed to be hung up on her,” Bai Wan said, jokingly acting fierce as she grabbed Lou Qingshuang.
Lou Qingshuang turned her head helplessly and gave Bai Wan a reproachful look. “I’m talking about serious business.”
“Heh, you look so charming like this.” Bai Wan tilted Lou Qingshuang’s chin to look left and right. Her eyes were like clear springs, filled with a faint smile. Tsk tsk, her best friend was truly a beauty.
“Stop playing around,” Lou Qingshuang pushed Bai Wan’s hand away. “Always so improper.”
“Hmph, I have such a great beauty all to myself, am I not even allowed to touch a bit?” Bai Wan grumbled as she continued looking through the materials, her mind already racing with ten thousand ways to respond.
Seeing her excitement, Lou Qingshuang quietly slipped out of the office.
What Bai Wan and the others didn’t expect was that before they could even act, the relevant authorities had already initiated an audit and inspection of Lan Dai.
Liu Yu knew that to deal with a corporation, relying solely on public opinion wasn’t enough, so she took direct action. The moment she moved, Lan Dai had no power to resist.
“We received a report that the ‘Ya Dai’ toner released by Lan Dai Group last year was launched prematurely without filing, and you have evaded inspections by the Drug Administration several times. Have your quality safety officer come out and speak with us,” a representative from the Drug Administration said strictly in the lobby of Lan Dai.
When Zhu Rui heard the news, she closed her eyes. She was usually on familiar terms with the people from the Drug Administration. This time, they hadn’t spoken to her privately; they had announced it in front of everyone. This news would definitely spread, and Lan Dai’s reputation was bound to be attacked.
Lou Qingshuang hadn’t even finished her experiment when she was interrupted by Bai Wan. “Shuangshuang, something happened to Lan Dai! Look!” She couldn’t wait to share the joy.
When Lou Qingshuang saw the news, her brow furrowed. This was too much of a coincidence.
Shen Yue had sent her the message this morning, and by the afternoon, Lan Dai’s safety officer had been taken away, and even Zhu Rui had been summoned for questioning.
This style of handling things seemed like one particular person.
The person she was thinking of was currently holding clothes that still carried Lou Qingshuang’s pheromones, taking a deep breath. Her sticky, feverish body felt much better.
“Lou Qingshuang…”
Outside, the rain was continuous and the sky was dark, much like Liu Yu’s heart—filled with a possessiveness that shouldn’t be there. Liu Yu also loathed this version of herself that was completely controlled by pheromones.
