- Chapter 15 - Lightness Skill
Under the skeptical gazes of the others, who muttered things like “It’s just a class rep election—why bother?” and Ji Zhao’s gleeful, “Let’s show them something they’ve never seen before,” Yu Cheng nodded slightly and stood up.
Song Jiangjiang stared blankly. “What are you doing…?”
Yu Cheng took a step back with her left foot.
Qiao Yue looked up. “Are you going to show us Lightness Skill?”
Yu Cheng smiled.
Zheng Dongqing touched her face. “No way…”
Yu Cheng raised herself onto her toes.
Shen Xin groaned impatiently. “Enough with the act! Just do it already—ah! She’s flying!”
Right before their eyes, Yu Cheng’s foot barely touched the floor before she shot upward with a whoosh. Fortunately, the high ceilings of the European-style building gave her plenty of room. Before anyone could react, she had already soared to the far end of the room, lightly kicked the wall, spun once in mid-air, and landed gracefully back where she started.
Everyone was speechless.
Song Jiangjiang: “……”
Qiao Yue: “……”
Zheng Dongqing: “……”
Ji Zhao: “I knew she could use Lightness Skill.”
Follow PD: “Is this the point?!?!”
The “Perfect Pair” Group: “……”
With Follow PD remaining silent, everyone forgot there was an outsider present.
Yu Cheng had barely sat down when she was swarmed by the group.
Song Jiangjiang, eager: “How did you learn this? When did you practice it? Could it be that Movie Emperor Yu didn’t use a stand-in or wires in his martial arts dramas? Was it all just Lightness Skill?”
Qiao Yue, eyes sparkling: “Yu Cheng, you’re amazing!”
Zheng Dongqing, full of admiration: “I shouldn’t have secretly thought you were just relying on your dad’s connections.”
“Don’t say what you’re really thinking in front of the camera!” Shen Xin retorted, though she remained skeptical. “Did you secretly use wires? Where’s the cable? Transparent or invisible?”
Follow PD: “…… Can we actually air this?”
Seeing her beloved subject surrounded, a fleeting hint of displeasure flashed across Ji Zhao’s face, but before she could fully grasp the emotion, she had already stepped forward to shield Yu Cheng. “Vote for C, no grabbing or pulling.”
Qiao Yue whispered, “…And ‘tug’ too.”
Zheng Dongqing said, “Now that two people are competing for the Center Position, Song Jiangjiang, do you have any special skills?”
Song Jiangjiang: “……”
What skills could possibly compete with the Lightness Skill?
She struggled to argue, “Even if you have the Lightness Skill, what can you even do with it on our stage?”
“Quite a lot,” Ji Zhao said, her voice calm and confident. “In our stage design, the protagonist is a puppet. To perform the Marionette Puppet Show well, you need extremely precise control over your body. I’m sure Yu Cheng can handle that.”
She lowered her hand from where it had been blocking Yu Cheng, curled her fingers, and grasped Yu Cheng’s wrist. “I choose Yu Cheng.”
The air went still for a moment.
Shen Xin: “I feel like I should say, ‘Congratulations to the guest for successfully getting a handshake’… What’s going on here?”
Qiao Yue: “Then I choose Yu Cheng too.”
Zheng Dongqing: “Can I join this team?”
Song Jiangjiang: “……I feel like I’m being left out.”
Qiao Yue nodded earnestly. “You’re amazing, Jiangjiang.”
As both the captain and Center Position of the “Perfect Pair” Group, Yu Cheng quickly got down to business, swiftly developing the most efficient training plan: divide into parts, design the stage, learn the dance, and master the vocals.
Yu Cheng explained, “The production team gave us a template, but the other group got the same thing. We’re starting from the same point, so if we don’t change anything, we’ll probably lose.”
The production team was straightforward: they provided the same stage for both groups singing the same song. The trainees could use it as is, modify it, or scrap it entirely.
Some groups stuck rigidly to the template, resulting in safe but unremarkable performances. Others tried to innovate but lacked the skills to pull it off, ruining the stage instead. Then there were those—
Shen Xin asked, “How exactly do we change it?”
The five members of the “Perfect Pair” Group nodded solemnly.
