- Chapter 4 - Clearly, I’m Seducing You Right Now
Once Chi Li left, Li Ming suddenly stood up from his chair. “Young Master, why did you come here and why did you agree to such an outrageous request?”
“Big Brother could not stand me spending all my time fooling around outside, so he called me here specifically to give me a lecture.” Shen Xunye walked over to the sofa, sat down, and began scrolling through Chi Li’s social media feed. “So, I decided to find something to do for myself.”
“The something you found,” Li Ming’s large face turned purple from holding back his frustration, “is to go on a show and sell a queerbaiting bromance with an artist under your brother’s agency?”
“Is that not allowed?” Shen Xunye casually liked every single post on Chi Li’s profile. “Besides, I was invited. I saw how desperate he was; he looked like he could not survive without me joining him to sell this fanservice. I really could not refuse. Plus, is solving the troubles of Big Brother’s artists not considered proper work?”
“I suppose,” Li Ming spoke with great difficulty.
Shen Xunye said, “If it counts, then arrange it for me.”
“I really cannot make the call on this. You should discuss it with your older brother,” Li Ming issued the humble plea of a low-level subordinate.
Shen Yu had specifically called his unproductive younger brother over for a scolding, surely hoping he would help share the workload or find something productive to do. If Li Ming privately sent the man off to a live-streamed variety show to flirt with guys without reporting it, his career as a manager would likely be over.
“Fine, I will tell him in a bit.” Shen Xunye never made things difficult for the workers under him.
“You can tell me right now,” a majestic voice sounded from the doorway.
Li Ming hurriedly stepped forward to welcome Shen Yu, guiding him to the sofa and busying himself with pouring a cup of tea. One piece of information had actually drawn the big boss here directly.
“Do you not get tired of keeping a stiff face and acting like an old man all day?” Shen Xunye fished a peppermint out of his pocket and tossed it into his mouth. “I found something to do. Just give me your consent.”
Li Ming, being very observant, quickly whispered the details of the situation from the sidelines and presented Chi Li’s file with both hands. By the first page of the file, Shen Yu already understood why Shen Xunye was inexplicably getting involved.
“Do not ruin my artist,” Shen Yu said calmly. “And this is a live broadcast. Once you provoke someone, it will not be that easy to extract yourself.”
Shen Xunye was the youngest son of the Shen family, with two older brothers and an older sister. He had been pampered since birth and had never suffered a single hardship. The good news was that, thanks to his education and upbringing, he had not grown into a bullying villain.
The bad news was that because his every wish had been fulfilled too easily since childhood, he could not get excited about anything, leading him to become obsessed with extreme sports. After breaking his legs twice, his family banned him from them.
To fill his inner void, a psychiatrist suggested that he could gain emotional fulfillment through romantic relationships. Shen Xunye strictly followed the doctor’s orders. He developed feelings for many beautiful men and women, showing incredible passion in the early stages. However, no relationship lasted longer than a month. According to historical records, his last pursuit did not even last three days.
Realizing that so-called romance did not work either, Shen Yu had put a stop to that therapy. But he truly could not stand watching Shen Xunye find solace in a life of debauchery, which is why he called him in today for a lecture, hoping he would find real work. He did not expect that the moment he looked away, this guy would have thoughts of romance again.
“This one is different from the others.” Shen Xunye rolled the peppermint around his tongue and crushed it with his teeth.
Shen Yu tossed the tablet containing Chi Li’s information onto the coffee table. “Do you not say that every time?”
“Oh, this time really is different.” Shen Xunye did not blush at all while lying through his teeth, but after catching Shen Yu’s sharp gaze, he added, “At worst, when the time comes, you can just say I died.”
Shen Yu remained silent. He really did not hold back when it came to cursing himself.
“Then you can just give him some compensation and some resources, right?”
“I go through all this trouble just to buy a few days of your fleeting interest?” Shen Yu was truly fuming.
Shen Xunye picked at his ear with his pinky finger. “Is it not a good deal?”
Shen Yu replied, “It would be a better deal to just kill you sooner.”
Shen Xunye bargained, “Wait until after I am done selling the bromance.”
Shen Yu said nothing further.
After waiting in the lounge watching the live stream for over an hour, Chi Li finally received a message from Shen Xunye.
Shen Xunye: It is settled. Shen Xunye: Do you want to meet?
Thinking that the other party had been dragged onto his ship, and that it would be a good time to communicate the personas they needed to display on the show, Chi Li decided to meet.
Chi Li: I will treat you to dinner. Shen Xunye: Okay!
And so, the two met at the Starlight Entertainment cafeteria. After Chi Li ordered his favorite dishes, he remembered to ask, “You can eat all of these, right?”
Shen Xunye raised an eyebrow slightly. “Are you not going to ask what I want to eat?”
He thought that as the host, one should give the choice of dishes to the guest.
“No one without dietary restrictions can refuse these dishes.” Chi Li poured some free lemon water for Shen Xunye. “Anyone who does not like them has no taste.”
Shen Xunye smiled and took a sip of the water. This person’s personality was quite unique.
“Why do you not look at me like that anymore?” he asked with an innocent tone.
Chi Li did not understand. “Look at you like what?”
Shen Xunye replied, “The way you did in the elevator.”
Chi Li went silent. What an impolite fellow. They were about to cooperate on a fanservice project, yet he brought up such an embarrassing topic.
“I was not mentally prepared in the elevator, and I was, well, seduced by your face and body,” Chi Li said, simply shifting the blame onto the other man. “Now that I have prepared myself and it is not the first time we have met, I will not lose my composure.”
Shen Xunye leaned forward slightly, blinking slowly, his voice deep and lingering. “But clearly, I am seducing you right now.”
The seduction skill failed immediately upon the second meeting with this face? That would not do.
Chi Li responded, “That will not work. You are being too greasy right now.”
Shen Xunye almost could not maintain the smile on his face; no one had ever said that to him before. Of course, he did not know that Chi Li’s heart was currently filled only with revenge. Those flirtatious words of mutual attraction and willingness were completely unable to move him.
“Change the persona.” Chi Li opened the Popular CP Personas list that Gu Nan had organized and handed it to Shen Xunye. “Pick a few you like, and then we will rehearse.”
Shen Xunye looked down. “Unrequited love, tsundere, iceberg, sunshine, loyal dog.”
“Hey, do not read them out loud.” Chi Li looked around, only relaxing once he was sure no one was looking their way. “Read them quietly.”
Shen Xunye did not object. After scanning all the terms, he spoke leisurely, “By the way, I am not very good at acting.”
