- Chapter 4 - I Am Clearly Seducing You Right Now
Once Chi Li left, Li Ming stood up abruptly from his chair. “Young Master, why did you come here and agree to such a ridiculous request?”
“My eldest brother cannot stand me spending all my time carousing, so he specifically called me here to give me a lecture.” Shen Xunye walked over to the sofa, sat down, and began scrolling through Chi Li’s social media feed. “Therefore, I plan to find something for myself to do.”
“The something you found,” Li Ming’s face turned purple from holding back his frustration, “is to go on a show and sell queerbaiting fanservice with an artist under your brother’s company?”
“Is that not allowed?” Shen Xunye casually liked every single post on Chi Li’s profile. “Besides, I was invited. I saw how desperate he was; he looked as though he could not survive without me joining him in this fanservice. I truly could not refuse. Furthermore, is solving the troubles of an artist under my brother’s banner not considered proper business?”
“I suppose it is,” Li Ming said with difficulty.
Shen Xunye replied, “Since it counts, arrange it for me.”
“I truly cannot make that decision. You should discuss it with your eldest brother.” Li Ming offered a humble plea from his lowly position.
Shen Yu had specifically called his unproductive younger brother over for a lecture, surely hoping he would help share the workload or find something meaningful to do. If Li Ming privately sent him to a live-streamed variety show to chase a man without reporting it, his career as a manager would be over.
“Fine, I will speak to him in a moment.” Shen Xunye never made things difficult for the workers below him.
“You can speak to me now,” a majestic voice sounded from the doorway.
Li Ming hurried forward to welcome Shen Yu, guided him to the sofa, and busied himself pouring a cup of tea to hand over. A single message had actually drawn the big boss here directly.
“Are you not tired of keeping such a stiff face and acting like an old man every day?” Shen Xunye fished a mint from his pocket and tossed it into his mouth. “I have found something to do. You just need to agree.”
Li Ming, being very observant, quickly whispered the details of the situation and presented Chi Li’s file with both hands. Upon seeing the first page of the file, Shen Yu already understood why Shen Xunye wanted to get involved for no apparent reason.
“Do not ruin the artists under my company,” Shen Yu said calmly. “Furthermore, this is a live broadcast. Once you provoke someone, it will not be easy to extricate yourself.”
Shen Xunye was the youngest son of the Shen family, with two older brothers and an older sister. He had been pampered since birth and had never suffered even a bit of hardship. The good news was that, under the influence of school and society, he had not grown into a bully who used his power to oppress others. The bad news was that because his every wish had been so easily granted since childhood, he found nothing interesting and became obsessed with extreme sports.
After he broke his legs twice, his family forbade him from contacting such sports again. To satisfy his inner emptiness, a psychologist suggested he seek emotional fulfillment through romance. Shen Xunye strictly followed the doctor’s orders and developed relationships with many beautiful men and women, showing incredible passion in the early stages. However, no relationship lasted longer than a month. According to records, his last romantic interest did not even last three days.
Realizing that so-called love was also ineffective, Shen Yu had put a stop to that therapy. But he truly could not stand watching Shen Xunye find solace in idle carousing, so he had called him in today for a lecture, hoping he would find proper work. He did not expect that the moment he looked away, this man would have thoughts of romance again.
“This one is different from the previous ones.” Shen Xunye rolled the mint around his tongue and then crushed it between his teeth.
Shen Yu tossed the tablet containing Chi Li’s files onto the coffee table. “When have you not said that?”
“Oh, this time it really is different.” Shen Xunye did not blush at all while telling the lie, but after catching Shen Yu’s sharp gaze, he added, “At worst, you can just tell the public that I died when the time comes.”
Shen Yu was speechless. Shen Xunye was truly ruthless when it came to cursing himself.
“Then you can give him some compensation and send some resources his way, right?”
“I am supposed to go through all this trouble just to buy you a few days of novelty?” Shen Yu was fuming with anger.
Shen Xunye picked at his ear with his pinky finger. “Is it not a good deal?”
Shen Yu replied, “It would be a better deal to just kill you sooner.”
Shen Xunye tried to bargain, “Wait until I am done with the fanservice before you do that.”
After waiting in the lounge and watching the live stream for over an hour, Chi Li finally received a message from Shen Xunye.
Shen Xunye: It is settled.
Shen Xunye: Shall we meet?
Thinking that the other party had been dragged onto his pirate ship and that it would be good to communicate about the persona they needed to display on the show, Chi Li decided to meet.
Chi Li: I will treat you to a meal.
Shen Xunye: Great!
And so, the two met at the Starlight Entertainment cafeteria. After Chi Li ordered the dishes he liked, he remembered to ask, “You can eat all of these, right?”
Shen Xunye raised an eyebrow slightly. “Are you not going to ask what I want to eat?”
He thought that as the host, the choice of dishes should be given to the guest.
“No one without dietary restrictions could refuse these dishes.” Chi Li poured some free lemon water for Shen Xunye. “Anyone who does not like these has no taste.”
Shen Xunye smiled and took a sip of the water. This person’s personality was quite unique. “Why are you not looking at me like that anymore?” he asked in an innocent tone.
Chi Li did not understand. “Looking at you how?”
Shen Xunye replied, “Like you did in the elevator.”
Chi Li was speechless. What an impolite fellow. They were about to cooperate on fanservice, yet he brought up such an embarrassing question.
“I was not mentally prepared in the elevator, so I was seduced by your face and body.” Chi Li simply shifted the blame onto the other man. “Now that I have prepared myself and it is not our first meeting, I will not lose my composure.”
Shen Xunye leaned forward slightly, blinked his eyes slowly, and said in a deep, slow voice, “I am clearly seducing you right now as well.”
If the seduction skill lost its effect by the second meeting, that would not do.
Chi Li replied, “That will not work. You are being too greasy right now.”
Shen Xunye almost failed to maintain the smile on his face. No one had ever said that to him before. Of course, he did not know that Chi Li’s mind was currently filled only with revenge. Such flirtatious words between two people who supposedly liked each other could not move him at all.
“Change the persona.” Chi Li opened the Popular Couple Personas that Gu Nan had organized and sent over, then handed it to Shen Xunye. “Pick a few you like, and then we will rehearse.”
Shen Xunye looked down at the list. “Secret crush, tsundere, iceberg, sunshine, loyal dog.”
“Hey, do not read them out loud.” Chi Li looked around and only felt relieved after confirming no one was watching them. “Read them quietly.”
