- Chapter 24 - Keep Your Dog Under Control
Jiang Lele walked past Wei Xuan and handed a bottle of water to Chi Li. “Hard work.”
“Thank you.” Chi Li took the water, held the bottle in his palm, and said just as the prelude to the next song began, “I will finish singing this song before I drink.”
[My wife is truly indescribably sexy when singing. (Heart eyes)]
[To think he can sound like this on the garbage equipment at a karaoke place, I truly cannot imagine how dazzling he will be when he stands on a proper stage.]
[So why did you not show off such a treasure earlier, Starlight Entertainment!! (Wailing)]
[After lurking in the training house for so long, I have finally eaten something good… (Drooling)]
[Pretty and talented, I do not know how this little Chi Li could possibly lose.]
[Wait, why is the number of online viewers skyrocketing? This is not the main livestream, it is his personal channel, right?]
[It feels like whatever Chi Li does, he could attract a ton of fans…]
[(Crying) (Punching air) You are not allowed to fight over my wife with me!]
In the time it took to sing two songs, a massive number of paid users flooded Chi Li’s personal livestream channel. Most of the new viewers were stage fans; they started discussing his stage presence as soon as they arrived, causing the frequency of the word “wife” in the live comments to drop sharply.
“There are no more flowers left,” Shen Xunye said with some regret. “How about I transfer you some money so you can have money to spend?”
He could not help it, as he truly had no cash on him.
“So cheesy.” Chi Li put down the microphone and looked at him with disdain. “Where did you learn that trick?”
“Hmm.” Shen Xunye spread his hands, looking innocent. “Someone asked me for this before, saying that if you like someone, you have to let them have money to spend.”
Chi Li raised an eyebrow. “So, you like me?”
[Oh my god, this direct approach just knocked me out. Who confesses their feelings the second day they meet someone!! (Roaring)]
[Perhaps, do you believe in love at first sight?]
[I only believe in being attracted by looks.]
[It is hard to say that Shen Xunye is just attracted to looks, otherwise he would fall in love with himself every day when looking in the mirror.]
[That is even cheesier than Shen Xunye’s have money to spend.]
“Isn’t liking the songs you sing the same as liking you? Certain traits of yours are also a part of you,” Shen Xunye said with sincere eyes.
“So, this behavior of yours is actually tipping?” Chi Li raised a hand to touch his chin, thoughtful.
Shen Xunye asked, “Tipping?”
“Just like a street performer. You think it sounds good, so you throw a couple of coins into my bowl,” Chi Li used a simple analogy.
“Only throwing two is too stingy,” Shen Xunye said with disdain. “Next time, I will prepare three for you.”
Chi Li could not help but laugh. “Thank you so much.”
Wei Xuan leaned in and added, “I will prepare two hundred for you.”
Jiang Lele took the microphone from in front of him and said expressionlessly, “You should prepare two hundred for me first.”
Jiang Lele sang two songs alone and then performed two more in a duet with Wei Xuan before getting up to move toward the dance studio. Halfway there, Zhou Yang and Xie Weishui walked toward them.
“Why are you two here?” Wei Xuan was a bit confused. Although no specific scenes were assigned to him, he knew that Xie Weishui was supposed to be watching a movie with Zhou Yang that afternoon. At this time, the movie should not have finished yet.
Zhou Yang’s gaze landed on Chi Li, then he looked away and said to Wei Xuan with a sour expression, “What? Are we not allowed to come?”
Although he did not know why, when Xie Weishui said they should come, he followed along.
“It is allowed, I was just asking,” Wei Xuan said indifferently. “Never mind then.”
A smile appeared on the corner of Xie Weishui’s mouth. “It has been a long time since I stretched my muscles. I had a sudden whim to bring Zhou Yang over to practice dancing together, otherwise, everything I learned before would be returned to the teacher. I did not expect you all to be going too. It is perfect; it will be lively with more people.”
As they spoke, the two naturally joined their group.
“The whole team is almost here. Why don’t we call Gao Yuan and Fang Jin over too?” Wei Xuan was also a bit annoyed. He did not really want these two to join. It was truly strange; when he followed Xie Weishui to grab screen time, the number of paid users on his personal channel barely increased. But just now, following Chi Li, he had unexpectedly gained several hundred new ones. Even though those people were saying strange things like, “Viewing my wife from a different angle is also quite delicious,” at least they were spending money on him.
As for Xie Weishui, Wei Xuan was truly afraid that he would bring bad luck to the audience in his livestream room.
“They should both be writing songs; there is no need to call them,” Jiang Lele blocked Wei Xuan. Six people were already chaotic enough; he did not want to be reduced to a pure background character again.
“Chi Li,” Xie Weishui called out softly. “You will not be unhappy, will you?”
“It seems you are the one who is more unhappy.” Chi Li raised a hand to point at the corner of his own eye, his tone teasing yet pitying. “There seems to be no light in your eyes.”
The others looked at Xie Weishui in unison, seemingly wanting to confirm if the light was truly gone.
“How could I be unhappy?” Xie Weishui smiled, his tone sincere. “Seeing you integrate so quickly, I am truly happy.”
“You smile like a mannequin.” Chi Li pointed it out directly. “If you do not want to smile, then do not force yourself.”
[I have wanted to say this for a long time too.]
[Does Chi Li have some kind of truth system installed in him? The kind where you die if you do not tell the truth?]
[The reality show is almost being turned into a mannequin show by Xie Weishui; it is exactly because this group of people does not tell the truth.]
[There is no obligation to avoid telling the truth.]
[To be fair, let us analyze this rationally. Compared to the past two days, Xie Weishui’s facial state is truly much worse. Is Chi Li bringing him that much pressure?]
“Chi Li,” Zhou Yang suddenly had a fit of knight syndrome and protected Xie Weishui behind him. “Senior brother is innocent; can you stop targeting him?” Was he not still angry that he and Xie Weishui were engaging in fanservice? Or perhaps he was jealous.
Others might not understand the subtext of Zhou Yang’s words, but there was no reason for Chi Li not to. As usual, he ignored Zhou Yang, tilted his head, and said to Xie Weishui behind him, “Keep your dog under control.”
After saying that, he gave Zhou Yang an extra roll of his eyes.
Zhou Yang was furious. “Who are you calling a dog?”
Shen Xunye, who was walking in the front, pushed open the door of the dance studio and stepped aside to let Chi Li enter first, kindly answering Zhou Yang’s question: “Whoever barks the most is the dog.”
“Damn.” Zhou Yang wanted to roll up his sleeves and start a fight.
“Junior brother.” Xie Weishui grabbed Zhou Yang’s wrist. “I am fine. Do not be angry; Chi Li does not have any malicious intent.”
“He does not have malicious intent.” Zhou Yang looked at the center of the room where Chi Li was warming up and stretching his body, and instead explained to Xie Weishui, “He just has a habitual sharp tongue. Senior brother, do not take it to heart.”
Beautiful people with wicked personalities are often more vivid. Someone had said that about Chi Li once. At that time, Zhou Yang sneered at this and hoped very much that Chi Li would restrain his temperament and listen obediently to him. But now, Zhou Yang was beginning to agree with that statement.
