- Chapter 22 - But You Can Only Hear My Cheers
“But there are no cameras now.” Chi Li withdrew his hand but immediately turned his back on Shen Xunye. “It feels a bit like a waste of the flirtatious tension.”
“Don’t always dwell on wasting it.” The smile on Shen Xunye’s face grew brighter. “Practicing intimacy outside of the camera’s view is actually essential.”
Chi Li nodded absently. “I suppose that makes sense.”
A qualified actor certainly cannot do without private practice.
Shen Xunye: “Mhm.”
After finishing the dishes, Fang Jin found Xie Weishui and Zhou Yang, who were curled up on the living room sofa watching a movie together.
“Senior Brother Fang,” Zhou Yang patted the empty seat next to him. “Do you want to watch with us?”
Fang Jin sat down nonchalantly and got straight to the point: “Let’s just get along peacefully.”
Zhou Yang was a bit bewildered. “Are you talking to me?”
Xie Weishui used a tissue to wipe his fingers, which had been touching potato chips. “Have you really been persuaded by Chi Li?”
Zhou Yang looked left and right, not understanding what kind of cryptic conversation these two were having. “Chi Li? What does this have to do with Chi Li?”
“He was right. I should be more considerate of your feelings and not put you in such a difficult position.” A smile appeared on Fang Jin’s face, one that anyone could tell was forced. “I should become friends with your friends as well.”
Zhou Yang, caught in the middle: “?”
What kind of new plot twist is this? This was not how things were arranged last night, was it?
“It’s good that you think that way, of course.” Xie Weishui’s hand, which was wiping his fingers, clenched sharply. He bit down on his back molars and spoke slowly: “I really should thank Chi Li.”
“What do you mean?” Zhou Yang, who had been ignored the entire time, was getting frustrated. He turned his face toward Fang Jin. “Did Chi Li say something to you?”
“He did say a few things.” Fang Jin extended his right hand toward Zhou Yang. “Let’s get along well from now on, Junior Brother Zhou.”
【OMG OMG, the relationship between the three has undergone some unexpected changes.】
【Actually, it’s more like Fang Jin has lost all hope, right?】
【Hey, humans are always fickle; Xie Weishui is no exception.】
【So what on earth did Chi Li say to Fang Jin! [Curious] [Frantic]】
Zhou Yang reached out and shook his hand, looking confused.
What he cared about more was, “When did you become so close with Chi Li?”
The two of them did not even exchange many words yesterday, did they?
“It is not that we are close.” Fang Jin looked at Zhou Yang, who was still holding his hand, with a strange expression. “It is just that we had things to talk about.”
“What did you talk about?” Zhou Yang pressed.
“Is that important?” Fang Jin frowned and retorted. “Junior Brother Zhou, your grip is a bit too strong; you are hurting my hand. Could you please let go of me first?”
“Of course it is important.” Zhou Yang immediately let go of Fang Jin’s hand. “You do not actually want to have something going on with Chi Li, do you?”
It was like this back when they were trainees.
As long as Chi Li wanted to, he could easily make anyone his friend or even a devoted fan, even if that person had previously despised him.
“Me, with Chi Li?” Fang Jin did not quite understand what Zhou Yang meant by that. “What does ‘have something’ mean?”
“Junior brother,” Xie Weishui reached out and placed a hand on Zhou Yang’s shoulder. “Living under the same roof, we will eventually get to know each other. You do not need to make such a big fuss.”
Chi Li. Chi Li.
It is Chi Li again.
How can this person be the center of attention even when he is not here?
Why?
“Uh,” Zhou Yang finally realized he might have overreacted. “I know, I was just curious how Senior Brother Fang got so familiar with him so quickly.”
【Rational discussion: Is Zhou Yang a bit too obsessed with Chi Li?】
【Didn’t we say yesterday? They knew each other beforehand.】
【Knowing someone does not mean you have to obsess over them, right? And their relationship clearly seems very average. Did you forget about the ‘old cucumber painted with green lacquer’ remark?】
【If you knew a ‘hot girl’ like Chi Li, could you not care? [Drooling]】
【Blind guess: Zhou Yang loved him but could not have him.】
“I would not call it familiar.” Fang Jin shook his hand, which had been squeezed out of shape. “We just chatted simply for a while.”
“Oh,” Zhou Yang rubbed his nose. “Sounds like a pretty good chat.”
“Junior brother.” Xie Weishui tightened his grip on Zhou Yang’s shoulder, forcing him to turn back around. “Let us focus on the movie.”
Zhou Yang could only suppress the doubts in his heart. “Okay, Senior Brother.”
“Then I will head back to my room first.” With his message delivered, Fang Jin had no intention of staying.
Xie Weishui’s expression flickered. “Alright.”
Second floor, outdoor balcony.
Chi Li, Shen Xunye, and Jiang Lele, who had followed the wind, gathered together.
Jiang Lele took the initiative to pour some freshly brewed green tea for the other two, his eyes sparkling as he looked at Shen Xunye.
Chi Li picked up the green tea and blew on it near his lips. “So, you really broke your legs twice?”
“I did.” Shen Xunye moved his right leg. “But they were not very serious; they healed after two or three months of rest.”
“It looks like it recovered very well; there do not seem to be any lingering effects.” Chi Li recalled how easily he was picked up last night.
“None at all.” Shen Xunye bit into a small matcha-flavored cookie. “I could handle breaking them a few more times if I had to.”
“Pfft,” Jiang Lele covered his mouth, laughing quite delicately. “Broken your legs twice, and you still have not learned your lesson?”
“I just said I could handle it, not that I was going to go out and break them.” Shen Xunye chewed the cookie in his mouth.
In reality, even without the family ban, he had no intention of trying extreme sports again in the future.
It was not because he cherished his life, but simply because he found it boring.
If a boring thing is not interesting to do, it is not worth doing.
“Actually, I have always really wanted to try it.” Jiang Lele’s voice was full of expectation and longing. “For a while, I frequently watched videos from streamers like that. Every time I watched, I would be incredibly nervous, as if I was the one.”
Shen Xunye did not have the patience to listen to him finish, looking directly at Chi Li instead. “What about you? Do you want to?”
Jiang Lele, whose words were cut off, had to lower his head and sip his tea to hide his embarrassment.
“If you are asking me, I definitely have some interest.” Chi Li adjusted to a more comfortable position. “But in daily life, I have never really thought about it.”
Shen Xunye asked with interest, “Then what do you think about?”
“I think about singing, dancing, standing on stage, and hearing the sound of cheers from the audience that are just for me.” The more Chi Li spoke, the brighter his smile became.
That was the purest smile a person could have when talking about their passion.
“Actually, me too.” Seeing that Shen Xunye was clearly more interested in Chi Li, Jiang Lele could only focus his attention on Chi Li as well. “There is a small KTV and dance practice room on the first floor. Do you want to go take a look?”
Chi Li tilted his head to look at Shen Xunye.
They had originally planned to have a simple chat about their pasts to lay a foundation for their “fan-service.”
They did not expect to be caught by Jiang Lele after only a few sentences.
“Let us go.” Shen Xunye made the decision for Chi Li. “Do not worry, I will be your audience.”
Chi Li stood up and looked down to brush off the hem of his clothes. “There are still many, many viewers in front of the screens.”
“But you can only hear my cheers,” Shen Xunye teased, tilting his head.
