Help, My Buff Roommate is Begging to Touch my Abs - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: Hubby is Angry Again
The moment the two of them saw Zhao Yuheng, their bodies nearly went limp.
Did he hear it all?
Did he hear it all?
“Xiao Meimei, is it? Do you know why Jin Bao’er is qualified to apply for the Tier 1 poverty scholarship?”
Zhao Yuheng’s voice was low and thick with rage, as if it were vibrating from deep within his chest.
“Because every single point in his application is a bloody scar he has endured for over a decade.”
“When he heard about your ‘misfortune,’ he forgot about the suffering and pain he’s endured all these years and gave his spot to you without a second thought.”
“And what about your conscience?”
“You two are even from the same hometown. How could you bear to deceive him like this? You robbed him of a qualification his parents traded their lives to provide. Do you even deserve it?”
As Zhao Yuheng spoke, he walked toward them. His broad shoulders carried an overwhelming sense of pressure, and his voice was loud and thunderous, rattling their eardrums.
The two of them instinctively retreated until their backs hit the wall, staring in terror at the hulking figure before them.
Xiao Meimei was so thoroughly rebuked that she couldn’t utter a single word.
“And you, you’re truly pathetic.”
Zhao Yuheng turned to Wang Meng, his eyes sharp as blades.
“You spent the poverty subsidy money you swindled from a woman to buy a phone? Are your hands broken, or your legs crippled? Or did your parents die and leave you with no place to ask for money? Do you have to use someone else’s life-saving money?”
His voice was like a thunderclap piercing Wang Meng’s ears.
Wang Meng had always been afraid of Zhao Yuheng; at this moment, he didn’t even dare to raise his head, completely suppressed.
Both of them thought this furious lion would resort to violence.
However, Zhao Yuheng took two steps back, his eyes sweeping over them as if looking at garbage.
“The two of you deserve to be shackled together. Don’t go out and plague anyone else.”
“Pah.”
He spat contemptuously near their shoes, turned around, and walked away.
Returning to the sports field, the team captain took the ball from his hand.
“Old Third, why did you just get here? We’ve been waiting for a long time.”
“You guys play, I’ll rest for a while.”
Zhao Yuheng sat down on a nearby chair, his chest heaving heavily.
The captain tossed the ball away and sat down next to him.
“What happened?”
He could see that Zhao Yuheng’s expression was off.
Zhao Yuheng wasn’t the type to keep things bottled up, so he told him everything he had just heard.
“Huh?!”
The captain was dumbfounded.
“That dog-couple dared to do that?”
“I was so angry just listening to it that I nearly shattered my teeth. I really wanted to rush over and beat them to death right there.”
Thinking back on it, Zhao Yuheng was still seething with rage, the veins on his arms bulging.
“Then what are we going to do? Are we just going to let them take that ten thousand yuan?”
The more the captain thought about it, the angrier he got.
Zhao Yuheng, however, sneered, took out his phone, and waved it in front of the captain.
“What do you mean?”
“Evidence.”
Zhao Yuheng tilted his chin up, a wicked smirk curling at the corners of his mouth.
The captain realized what he meant immediately, his eyes lighting up.
“Damn, Old Third, you’re still the clever one! You even knew to record it!”
Zhao Yuheng only sneered.
Damn it, anyone who dares to bully my person will regret it.
After the game, Zhao Yuheng didn’t return to the dormitory; he went straight to the convenience store where Jin Bao’er worked part-time.
Jin Bao’er was the only one in the store, but there were many customers, and he was running around frantically. His hair was plastered to his forehead with sweat.
Zhao Yuheng watched the thin, delicate figure darting behind the counter, and the fire in his heart flared up again.
Damn it, if that ten thousand yuan hadn’t been given away, would this silly boy have to work this hard?
He’s exhausted himself into a dog just to save money for someone else.
Zhao Yuheng walked directly to the counter.
“I’ll help you.”
Jin Bao’er taught him the operation with two quick sentences, and Zhao Yuheng learned it instantly.
With both registers working, the long queue quickly shrank.
“Handsome, I haven’t seen you here before?”
A bold girl took the opportunity to flirt, her eyes fixated on his well-defined arms.
Zhao Yuheng wiped the sweat from his brow.
“Yeah, just started.”
After saying that, he lowered his head to scan items, ignoring her.
The girl shrugged, thinking that while he was handsome and buff, he was too cold. She walked away, feeling a bit unsatisfied.
Jin Bao’er, standing next to him, glanced at the girl’s departing back, feeling a twinge of sourness in his heart.
He moved closer to Zhao Yuheng in a subtle, possessive way, as if to declare his territory.
“Jin Bao’er, I’m sorry. The counselor called me to the office to fill out some documents. I messaged you about it.”
The colleague who had just arrived explained.
Zhao Yuheng gave him a dark look and moved aside to make room.
“Coming here only now? The work’s already done.”
Zhao Yuheng’s voice wasn’t gentle.
Even Jin Bao’er could sense that something was wrong.
His Brother Heng wasn’t usually the type to throw tantrums randomly.
What was wrong with him today?
Zhao Yuheng saw the concerned look in Jin Bao’er’s eyes and finally reined in his emotions.
Damn it, one after another—they see that my Jin Bao is honest and kind, so they bully him.
He saw it today—his colleague could arrive late even when it was this busy.
If he wasn’t there to see it, wouldn’t they be late all the time?
It was so frustrating!
Once out of his sight, everyone dared to step on his Jin Bao’er’s head.
He really wanted to tie Jin Bao’er to his waist and watch him every single second.
But Zhao Yuheng realized his thoughts were a bit twisted.
So, he told Jin Bao’er he was leaving.
“I saw it, I was just too busy to reply.”
Jin Bao’er said this out loud, but felt a bit unhappy inside.
This colleague was always late—usually by a few minutes, but today he was a full half-hour late.
But for the sake of appearances, he didn’t say anything.
“Does your brother seem angry? He won’t hire someone to beat me up, right?”
The colleague thought back to the way Zhao Yuheng looked like he was about to eat someone, and felt a bit scared.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. I’ll just coax him a little when I get back.”
Jin Bao’er comforted him instead.
“That’s good, that’s good.”
After his shift, Jin Bao’er hurried to buy a bag of apples and returned to the dorm to coax his “Big Hubby.”
“Brother Heng, come down and sleep with me.”
He lay on the head of Zhao Yuheng’s bed, his tone sugary, his large eyes blinking.
Zhao Yuheng glanced at him, his Adam’s apple bobbing.
“Do you think I’m that easy?”
“Aww, don’t be mad anymore, Brother Heng. I bought you some apples. I tried one, it’s super sweet.”
Jin Bao’er reached out and tugged lightly on his exposed, solid bicep, shaking it gently.
Zhao Yuheng was annoyed by the shaking, so he lazily climbed down from his bed and sprawled out on Jin Bao’er’s bed like an emperor.
Jin Bao’er scrambled happily to pass him a washed apple.
Zhao Yuheng took a bite, looking haughty.
“Brother Heng, how is it?”
“It’s alright.”
His expression was flat.
“Alright is good enough.”
Seeing that he wasn’t angry anymore, Jin Bao’er breathed a sigh of relief.
“Alright, my ass!”
Zhao Yuheng suddenly snapped again, his voice gravelly.
“You need to be sharper in the future! Don’t let just any stray cat or dog walk all over you!”
Jin Bao’er was stunned for a moment before he realized.
Brother Heng must have seen his colleague being late and him doing all the work alone, so he got angry.
This big blockhead, worrying about everything all day long—he hadn’t even minded it that much himself.
Of course, he couldn’t say that, or his “Big Hubby” would blow up again.
“Alright, alright, Brother Heng, don’t be mad.”
“If he’s late again, I’ll definitely tell him off.”
“Not just him.”
Zhao Yuheng’s voice grew louder, his tone laced with a hint of ruthlessness.
“Who else?”
Jin Bao’er was puzzled.
Zhao Yuheng thought of Xiao Meimei and Wang Meng, but swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue.
If this silly boy found out he had been swindled, he would definitely be heartbroken.
He’d have to coax him then, and that was just too much of a hassle.
He’d figure out a way to cover it up for now.
He didn’t say anything more and finished the apple in a few bites.
He tossed the core into the trash can, turned his back to Jin Bao’er, and lay down, pretending to be asleep.
But although his eyes were closed, his fingers curled slightly under the quilt.
He had marked down this debt.
Tomorrow morning, he would make that dog-couple know what regret felt like.
Seeing him like this, Jin Bao’er didn’t notice his small movements; he just adjusted the fan, washed his feet, and laid down with peace of mind.
