Help! A Green Tea Alpha Is Obsessed with Me - Chapter 5
Pei Xingzhi’s panic didn’t last long.
Just as he was considering the feasibility of calling an ambulance and leaving Xie Nanyi behind to escape alone, Assistant Wen emerged from a corner like a ghost and took Xie Nanyi from his arms.
“You…” Pei Xingzhi’s arms suddenly felt empty. He stood there, wide-eyed and bewildered, watching Assistant Wen skillfully administer an injection to Xie Nanyi.
“I am the young master’s personal assistant,” Assistant Wen replied.
Dressed in a black suit and black leather shoes, his hair slicked back meticulously with gel, his rigid black-framed glasses paired with his stern, mechanical expression, he embodied every stereotype of an elite personal assistant.
Assistant Wen clearly had no interest in speaking with him. Pei Xingzhi pursed his lips, deciding not to press further, and crouched beside them, watching intently as Assistant Wen administered the injection.
After the first injection, Assistant Wen gently shook Xie Nanyi, but he didn’t wake. After a moment of thought, Assistant Wen retrieved another syringe from a nearby case and administered a second dose.
Three minutes passed, and Xie Nanyi still showed no signs of waking.
Just as Assistant Wen prepared a third syringe to administer another injection, Pei Xingzhi finally couldn’t hold back and grabbed his hand.
“Stop injecting him. The problem might not be the medication.”
If he remembered correctly, this medication was a newly developed specialized drug. It was extremely expensive but highly effective. However, its side effects were also severe. Typically, it needed to be diluted and mixed with other medications before injection; otherwise, it could cause significant physical damage or even sudden death.
The two injections Assistant Wen had administered were undiluted and unprocessed. If Xie Nanyi weren’t a high-quality Alpha, he would likely have already passed away by now.
Was this assistant even a legitimate assistant?
“No need to worry. The young master usually receives four injections,” Assistant Wen said, sensing his hesitation. He pried Pei Xingzhi’s hand away and proceeded to administer the third injection.
“No, no! How can you use medication so recklessly!”
Pei Xingzhi had initially intended to stay out of it, but the more he tried to ignore it, the clearer the cases he’d studied became in his mind. Summoning unexpected courage, he pushed Assistant Wen aside and shielded Xie Nanyi behind him like a mother hen protecting her chicks.
“How do I know you’re really Xie Nanyi’s assistant? With him unconscious, you could say anything! The dosage you’re injecting him with far exceeds what a normal person can tolerate. I’m taking him to the hospital. Step aside now and don’t delay his treatment!”
Pei Xingzhi rarely acted so assertively. His imposing aura lasted only a moment before fading under Assistant Wen’s intensely oppressive gaze.
With his gentle appearance and likable personality, almost everyone who interacted with him grew fond of him. It was rare for anyone to look at him with such a gaze. Pei Xingzhi swallowed nervously, feeling a twinge of guilt.
He and Xie Nanyi weren’t close, why was he meddling so much? Xie Nanyi’s assistant surely wouldn’t actually harm him.
But he had already spoken up, and there was no taking it back now. He could only brace himself and continue to stand his ground against Assistant Wen.
Having been immersed in society for so many years, Assistant Wen had picked up a thing or two about intimidating stares from those seasoned executives. Though his glare wasn’t quite lethal yet, it was more than enough to intimidate a fresh-faced kid like Pei Xingzhi, who hadn’t yet stepped into the real world.
Assistant Wen didn’t respond. Instead, he pushed his glasses up with his middle finger and continued to stare at him with that same piercing look. Pei Xingzhi felt a chill run down his spine under that gaze and took the initiative to make peace.
“Let’s take Xie Nanyi to the hospital together. I need to see him treated by a doctor before I can rest easy.” If they kept stalling like this, Xie Nanyi might really end up dead, and Pei Xingzhi had no intention of playing games with someone’s life.
“Fine.” Assistant Wen glanced down at Xie Nanyi, still lying on the ground, and finally relented. He stepped forward to help Pei Xingzhi carry Xie Nanyi to the car.
Once they were all in the car, perhaps due to the jostling, Xie Nanyi murmured softly. Pei Xingzhi leaned in to listen and heard him whispering in pain.
He wasn’t sure what exactly was wrong with Xie Nanyi. He had asked Assistant Wen about it on the way downstairs, but the assistant, likely still upset with him, deliberately ignored the question.
Frustrated but unable to vent, Pei Xingzhi could only silently flip Assistant Wen off behind his back.
With no response from Assistant Wen, Pei Xingzhi could only rely on past experience to give Xie Nanyi a simple massage. Xie Nanyi seemed to find it comforting, as his struggling gradually subsided.
The nearest hospital to the school was the one where Pei Xingzhi’s father worked. Pei Xingzhi let Xie Nanyi rest his head on his lap, took out his phone, and called his dad to help schedule an appointment. Xie Nanyi’s condition couldn’t afford to wait too long.
“It’s not me. A classmate of mine suddenly fainted. Could you help schedule an appointment with Uncle Li? He’s more experienced… Oh, come on, just help me out. We’ll be there soon… Yeah, that’s the one…”
“No need to schedule an appointment.”
Before Pei Xingzhi could finish, Assistant Wen abruptly interrupted the call.
“My dad works at the hospital. It’s easy to get an appointment scheduled,” Pei Xingzhi quickly explained, thinking Assistant Wen was worried about inconveniencing him.
“That hospital is owned by the Xie family. The young master doesn’t need to schedule appointments for treatment.” Assistant Wen paused, not even bothering to hide the sarcasm in his tone. “Besides, the young master doesn’t just see any random doctor.”
As if deliberately aiming his words at Pei Xingzhi’s father, Assistant Wen raised his voice when he uttered the last few words. Pei Xingzhi promptly hung up the phone, ensuring Assistant Wen’s voice wouldn’t reach his father’s ears.
Pei Xingzhi looked up, about to say something, when he caught sight of Assistant Wen’s lingering smirk in the rearview mirror.
The man seemed quite pleased with himself.
For once, Pei Xingzhi’s expression turned cold. He didn’t say a word, simply lifted Xie Nanyi off his shoulder and settled him beside him. After making sure Xie Nanyi was comfortable, he spoke softly, asking Assistant Wen to pull over.
Assistant Wen was taken aback, momentarily unsure what Pei Xingzhi was thinking. He had been so harsh, yet this guy could still hold back, his temper was almost too good.
Assistant Wen complied and pulled over. He assumed Pei Xingzhi was going to get out and leave, so he even opened the car door for him after parking. But despite the gesture, Pei Xingzhi showed no intention of leaving, sitting calmly in the car as if nothing had happened.
“Mr. Pei, aren’t you getting out?”
“Did I say I was getting out, Assistant Wen? Why would you think that?”
Pei Xingzhi met Wen’s gaze through the rearview mirror. As soon as Wen looked over, Pei immediately covered his mouth with his right hand, feigning surprise, a performance so obvious that anyone could see right through it.
“If you’re not getting out of the car, Mr. Pei, why did you ask me to stop?”
“Didn’t you say the hospital I recommended wasn’t up to Xie Nanyi’s standards? So I asked you to stop and carefully choose one that matches his status. Just as you said, life can be lost, but one’s prestige must never be compromised.”
“You…”
“Hurry up and find a hospital, Assistant Wen. If we wait any longer, Xie Nanyi will suffer terribly. Let me make this clear, if anything happens to him, you’ll bear full responsibility. But honestly, I actually quite like Xie Nanyi. If something were to happen to him, I’d be heartbroken too.” As he spoke, Pei Xingzhi forced two tears from the corners of his eyes and wiped them away with his index finger.
“What do you mean by that, Mr. Pei? Are you blaming me for what I said earlier?”
“Why are you so suspicious, Assistant Wen? I would never do such a thing.”
“Mr. Pei, please understand that I am the young master’s assistant, not yours. If you intend to lecture me about anything, I’m sorry, but you don’t have the authority.”
“Do I have the authority, then?”
Xie Nanyi’s words were clearly far more effective than Pei Xingzhi’s lengthy speech. Assistant Wen immediately straightened up, adopting a respectful expression.
“Young master, where would you like to go?”
Xie Nanyi didn’t answer immediately. The pain in his body hadn’t eased much, leaving him with little strength to speak.
“To the hospital,” Pei Xingzhi answered for Xie Nanyi. Seeing Xie Nanyi’s expression, it seemed his condition hadn’t improved much, so going to the hospital was the only way Pei Xingzhi could feel at ease.
“Mr. Pei, I was asking the young master.” As soon as Pei Xingzhi spoke, Assistant Wen immediately reverted to his infuriatingly smug expression.
“Didn’t you hear what Xiao Zhi said? To the hospital.” Xie Nanyi’s furrowed brows relaxed slightly upon hearing the voice beside him. As if only just noticing Pei Xingzhi’s presence, he struggled to reprimand Assistant Wen.
With Xie Nanyi’s command, Assistant Wen obediently drove them to the hospital.
At their own hospital, they naturally received the best treatment. Pei Xingzhi accompanied Xie Nanyi through a series of examinations, and for the first time, he discovered that the hospital where his father had worked for so many years offered such considerate services. The nurses, who usually gossiped about him and his father, were now speaking in such gentle tones.
After undergoing a battery of tests, Xie Nanyi was scanned by various machines. His body was likely still in pain, and all this commotion would surely leave him uncomfortable for a long time.
Thinking of this, Pei Xingzhi couldn’t help but smirk triumphantly.
With Xie Nanyi’s family wealth, how could they not have considered hiring a doctor to treat him? Given their financial power, they could probably afford to bring the world’s top doctors to their home for private treatment.
Pei Xingzhi’s initial insistence was out of fear that Assistant Wen had ulterior motives, perhaps intentionally injecting medication to harm Xie Nanyi. But later, it was purely driven by a desire for revenge.
Assistant Wen was Xie Nanyi’s personal assistant. Since he knew Pei Xingzhi’s name, he must also have known that Xie Nanyi was pursuing him. Yet, despite being aware of this, Assistant Wen still treated Pei with a condescending attitude, his words growing increasingly harsh. It almost seemed as though Pei was the one desperately chasing after Xie Nanyi.
His attitude naturally reflected that of his master, Xie Nanyi. His audacity indicated that Xie Nanyi wasn’t as invested in him as he appeared to be, all this prolonged entanglement was merely a pastime, a joke to while away the time.
But Pei Xingzhi was no plaything for Xie Nanyi’s amusement. Why should he swallow this grievance in silence?
He couldn’t tell whether Xie Nanyi’s pain was feigned, but if it was merely acting, then Xie Nanyi’s performance was worthy of an award for best actor.
This ordeal was enough to make Xie Nanyi suffer. Today, Pei Xingzhi had gotten his revenge, and the score between them was now settled!
While everyone was busy examining Xie Nanyi, Pei Xingzhi quietly slipped away.
The series of tests Pei Xingzhi had arranged were so extensive that by the time they were all completed, Xie Nanyi was numb from the pain.
Under the effects of various medications and injections, Xie Nanyi’s body gradually returned to normal.
“Assistant Wen,” Xie Nanyi said, pale-faced as he sat on the hospital bed, his pheromones not the least bit restrained. “How long have you been by my side?”
“F-four… four months…” The overwhelming pheromones made it hard for Assistant Wen to breathe, forcing the words out one by one.
“Only four months, huh.” Xie Nanyi held up four fingers, then pressed them down one by one.
“After four months, you still haven’t learned your lesson?” A spineless opportunist, his father only ever sent him such people to cause trouble.
“I… Young Master, I…”
“Get out. Don’t let me see you again.”
As Xie Nanyi withdrew his pheromones, Assistant Wen scrambled to kneel before him, tearfully begging for mercy. The elite facade he had maintained vanished, revealing his inherently low and despicable nature.
“Young Master, I was wrong. I truly know I was wrong.”
“Get out.”
Xie Nanyi didn’t spare him a glance. Realizing there was no hope, Assistant Wen obediently stood up and walked out, careful to close the door behind him.
His father was truly persistent in sending him disloyal dogs.
Xie Nanyi unconsciously glanced at the name on his wrist. He had been in contact with Pei Xingzhi too often lately, and his pain threshold had lowered.
This was not a good sign.
Xie Nanyi rested his right hand on his forehead, but Pei Xingzhi’s image surfaced in his mind.
He didn’t want to become his imprinted one.
Pei Xingzhi was resisting being led by this so-called fate, and he had succeeded, no mark had appeared on him.
