- He Lost Control with Jealousy — What Happened to Being Untouchable?
- Chapter 8 - I Feel Terrible
Xu Mingyue gritted her teeth. She absolutely could not give Sang Wan another chance to rise above her. Given the current situation, her mother’s arrangements for tonight were likely to be disrupted.
With that in mind, Xu Mingyue shot a glance at the waiter standing nearby.
Then, she seized the opportunity to move closer to Lu Jinxuan. “Jinxuan, didn’t my sister agree to get engaged to your great-uncle? Why does she seem so ambiguous with your uncle?”
Lu Jinxuan was stunned. “Your sister and my great-uncle? Was she willing?”
Xu Mingyue feigned regret. “How many arranged marriages are truly voluntary? There’s always some transactional element involved. You know Sang Corporation was her grandfather’s life’s work.”
If she claimed it was voluntary, Lu Jinxuan wouldn’t believe her, so Xu Mingyue opted for the truth.
“She must have known your uncle would never marry her, so she agreed.”
Lu Jinxuan nodded slightly. What kind of man was his uncle? When had he ever had a woman by his side? Sang Wan’s infatuation with him was likely one-sided.
Besides, just now, his uncle hadn’t seemed particularly warm toward her, just ambiguous!
“Jinxuan, why don’t you go smooth things over? After all, tonight has been quite embarrassing for Director Wang.”
Lu Jinxuan found Xu Mingyue slightly more agreeable now, she was quite sensible.
“Alright, he is my great-uncle, after all.”
He had been entrusted by his mother to support Wang Sheng tonight, and now that his uncle had ruined the occasion, it was only right for him to step in.
With that, he led Xu Mingyue and the waiter toward Wang Sheng.
At that moment, Wang Sheng stood beside Sang Wan, his face dark with suppressed anger.
“Miss Sang, your father owes me an explanation.”
Lu Jinxuan stepped forward with a smile. “Great-uncle, let me toast you. My uncle is just like that, don’t take it to heart.”
Sang Wan glanced at Lu Jinxuan and accepted the glass. After all, up to this point, Wang Sheng hadn’t actually offended her.
It was Xu Shiming who had gone too far.
But she hadn’t expected Lu Tingzhou to be so cold, publicly humiliating someone like that.
She leaned closer to Wang Sheng and lowered her voice. “Director Wang, we don’t know each other well, nor do we understand each other’s pasts. My family wasn’t aware of my situation, I apologize.”
After speaking, Sang Wan downed the drink in one go, her fair neck arching gracefully.
Xu Mingyue watched with hidden delight, thinking to herself, Sang Wan, you’ll never surpass me again.
After finishing the drink, Sang Wan curved her lips into a sincere smile. “Director Wang, I’m still young, please be lenient with me.”
Xu Mingyue considerately took her arm. “Sister, take it slow. Be careful not to get drunk.”
Wang Sheng stared at Sang Wan. Though angry, he couldn’t deny the itch in his heart.
Xu Shiming had already promised an engagement by the end of the month. If she wanted to back out, she’d have to see whether Lu Tingzhou would actually marry her.
The Lu family would never accept Sang Wan.
Sang Wan shot Xu Mingyue a cold look and pulled her arm free. “Director Wang, I won’t spoil the mood here. Happy birthday!”
Wang Sheng had no intention of letting her off so easily. A single drink as an apology? His pride wasn’t that cheap.
His lecherous gaze lingered on the curves of her chest as he chuckled. “Miss Sang, an apology requires sincerity. Your father and daughter have made a fool of me, I’m not happy!”
Sang Wan smiled faintly, took another glass from the waiter, and downed it without hesitation.
She swirled the empty glass in her hand, her captivating eyes silently mesmerizing.
“Director Wang, are you satisfied now?”
Lu Jinxuan hadn’t expected Sang Wan to be not only charming but also so straightforward. Unconsciously, the corners of his lips curved as he stepped in to help her out of the awkward situation.
“Uncle, today is your special day. Whatever it is, let’s talk about it another time. There are so many guests waiting to toast you over there.”
Wang Sheng didn’t want to make things too awkward either. After all, it wasn’t clear how far her relationship with Lu Tingzhou had progressed. If she really was Lu Tingzhou’s woman, he’d have to consider Lu Tingzhou’s feelings, even if he didn’t care about hers.
Even if he knew the Lu family would never allow Lu Tingzhou to marry her, provoking Lu Tingzhou’s displeasure would only make things difficult for himself.
As Wang Sheng walked away, Xu Mingyue secretly rejoiced. Whether Sang Wan ended up in Wang Sheng’s bed tonight or not, Lu Tingzhou would never want her again by tomorrow.
But the way Lu Jinxuan looked at Sang Wan still made her uncomfortable.
“Sister, how far have things progressed between you and President Lu? Are you living together?”
Her words were meant for Lu Jinxuan, a reminder that Sang Wan was his uncle’s woman.
Sang Wan saw right through her petty scheme. With a faint smile, she turned to Lu Jinxuan. “Young Master Lu, how about exchanging contact details? I’ll treat you to dinner another day to thank you for helping me out today.”
Lu Jinxuan raised an eyebrow, pulling out his phone and extending his QR code toward her. “I’d be delighted to be friends with Miss Sang.”
Xu Mingyue gritted her teeth, her nails digging into her palms. Sang Wan was doing this on purpose.
After adding Lu Jinxuan as a friend, Sang Wan cast a triumphant glance at Xu Mingyue before gracefully walking away.
Just as she reached the entrance, a scorching heat surged in her stomach, and the surroundings seemed to sway before her eyes.
Sang Wan had barely stepped out of the banquet hall when a wave of searing nausea churned in her gut.
Then, an unnatural heat rapidly spread through her limbs, making her entire body burn.
The world around her twisted and spun, her legs feeling as if they were treading on cotton, weak and unsteady.
Something was wrong. The drinks had been tampered with!
The realization hit her sharply.
The first glass had been given to her by Lu Jinxuan, the second by a waiter, which one was it?
Her muddled mind couldn’t figure it out.
Sang Wan shook her head, clinging to the last shred of clarity as she fumbled for her phone in her purse to call her assistant.
Through her blurred vision, her trembling fingers struggled to open her contacts.
Meanwhile, not far from the hotel, inside a black Bentley.
Lu Tingzhou held a cigarette between his fingers, the window slightly lowered, his deep gaze fixed on the hotel entrance.
He was waiting.
Waiting for that reckless woman who somehow effortlessly stirred his emotions to walk out safely.
Lin Hao, seeing Lu Tingzhou smoking while staring at the hotel doors, didn’t dare rush him. Unable to decipher his boss’s thoughts, he decided to report on matters that hadn’t been addressed earlier.
“President Lu, I’ve confirmed that Wang Sheng is indeed the maternal uncle of the first madam. Previously, she had little interaction with him, he only ran a small-scale advertising company. But about three or four years ago, the first madam suddenly started associating with him frequently, ensuring all the company’s advertising business went to him rather than outsiders.”
As Lin Hao spoke, Lu Tingzhou’s mind flashed with the shrewd face of Sun Meixi.
Lin Hao continued, “After profiting from the Lu Group, Wang Sheng shifted to investments. His collaboration with the Sang Corporation was facilitated by Lin Lan, the current wife of Xu Shiming. She and Wang Sheng seem to have been classmates in the past.”
“Wang Sheng is a greedy man, and Xu Shiming wants to rely on the Lu family, so it seems he’s invested heavily in the Xicheng District project they’re collaborating on. The specific details haven’t been uncovered yet, but so far, it appears Wang Sheng’s sudden wealth was propped up by the First Madam.”
After listening, Lu Tingzhou slowly exhaled a smoke ring, his voice indifferent. “Keep an eye on the Sang family.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Hao’s phone suddenly rang.
Staring at the unfamiliar number, Lin Hao hesitated for a moment before answering.
Before he could speak, a soft, panicked voice came through. “Qi Qi, come get me quickly, there’s something wrong with the drink I had.”
Sang Wan’s delicate, frightened voice clearly reached Lu Tingzhou’s ears.
“Miss Sang?”
Lin Hao turned to look at Lu Tingzhou, whose eyes darkened instantly, the air around him dropping to freezing point.
Sang Wan’s mind buzzed. Struggling through her haze, she squinted at her phone, the contact name read Lin Hao.
She had gotten the number of Lu Tingzhou’s assistant from Qi Qi that afternoon, never expecting her first call would be under such circumstances.
“I… I don’t feel well…” Sang Wan instinctively pleaded, “Could you…”
Before she could finish, her phone clattered to the ground.
The abrupt dial tone on the other end ignited a surge of fury in Lu Tingzhou.
…
At the hotel.
Seizing the opportunity, Xu Mingyue brought Wang Sheng to Sang Wan’s side. “Sister, what’s wrong? Are you drunk? Do you need me to help you rest?”
Xu Mingyue’s feigned concern put Sang Wan on guard. Though her mind was foggy, she wasn’t completely oblivious, her stepsister would love nothing more than to see her ruined.
Summoning all her strength, Sang Wan shoved her away. “Stay away from me.”
“Sis, your tolerance is so low, just two drinks and you can’t even stand. You’re a public figure. If someone snaps a photo, you’ll be all over the headlines tomorrow.”
Wang Sheng didn’t realize Sang Wan had been drugged; he was simply entranced by her delicate, alluring demeanor.
“Miss Sang, don’t be ungrateful. Your sister is just looking out for you.”
“Director Wang, my sister is too drunk. Help me support her while I get a room so she can rest. We wouldn’t want any unwanted attention causing trouble for her.”
Wang Sheng held onto Sang Wan, his greedy eyes gleaming as he took in her irresistible charm.
“Miss Sang, let me take you upstairs to rest.”
A plump, greasy hand inched toward her slender waist.
Sang Wan felt feverish and weak, waves of nausea washing over her. She tried to push him away, but her feeble resistance was like an ant trying to topple a tree.
“Get… off me! Don’t touch me!”
Despite her effort, her words came out as a weak protest.
Far from deterring him, it only fueled Wang Sheng’s desire.
“Don’t be stubborn. You can barely stand.”
With a leering grin, Wang Sheng dragged Sang Wan toward the elevator, barely containing his excitement.
Her waist was so slender, he feared he might snap it with a single squeeze. No wonder Lu Tingzhou had taken a liking to her.
And that figure… so fiery.
A rush of heat surged through Wang Sheng from head to toe.
“Let her go!”
A voice as cold as ice, laced with thunderous rage, struck Wang Sheng’s ears.
He shuddered, turning to meet Lu Tingzhou’s fathomless gaze. His legs nearly gave out beneath him.
Lu Tingzhou strode forward, shoving Wang Sheng aside and catching Sang Wan firmly in his arms as she collapsed.
Sang Wan blinked her hazy eyes, finally making out the figure before her. “Lu Tingzhou, I don’t feel well…” she whimpered pitifully.
Like clinging ivy, she wrapped herself around him—her slender arms winding around his neck, her flushed face nuzzling into the crook of his neck. Her scorching breath fanned across his skin, carrying an intoxicating sweetness.
“So hot…”
