- He Lost Control with Jealousy — What Happened to Being Untouchable?
- Chapter 79 - Blinded
“Sweetheart, I’ll make this right for you.”
The bathroom was filled with steam as Sang Wan sat curled up in the bathtub, her damp hair clinging to her collarbone.
She glared up at him, her voice soft but laced with irritation. “Make what right? How? Your PR department dared to leak the news so openly, should I start preparing a wedding gift for President Lu?”
Lu Tingzhou watched her, the corners of his lips lifting as he slowly undid his cufflinks, one button at a time.
A little fox in a temper needed coaxing, and compensation.
“I’ve already had the PR department retract the news and fired the manager responsible.”
His tone was casual, as if it were nothing worth fussing over.
“This won’t happen again. And I’ve personally issued a clarification, it was an internal company issue.”
“Personally? What do you mean, personally?”
Sang Wan was skeptical. Could it really be resolved so easily?
“You still have the mind to worry about that now?”
As he spoke, he began unbuttoning his shirt, his dark eyes already simmering with something else entirely.
Sang Wan instinctively sank deeper into the water, only half her face visible.
“Pervert! Why are you taking your clothes off?” she hissed through gritted teeth, though her ears burned red.
The man chuckled lowly, draping his jacket over the rack. Tall and lean, his silhouette loomed closer through the mist like a shadow.
“What, never seen it before?” He leaned in, his breath brushing her ear. “You weren’t shy when you were touching me.”
Sang Wan choked on her words, kicking out with her legs to shove him away. “Get out! Who wants to look at you?”
Lu Tingzhou remained unshaken, unfazed by her kicks as he settled on the edge of the tub. Bracing his arms against the sides, he caged her in.
His voice dropped to a murmur. “Lin Yao was hired through proper procedures, I only found out yesterday. HR has already processed her termination. She’ll be gone by tomorrow.”
Sang Wan eyed him suspiciously, still unconvinced.
“Don’t give me that. You think I’m so easily blinded by lust?”
Lu Tingzhou sighed helplessly, sliding into the warm water. His large hand wrapped around her wrist, pulling her flush against him.
“Little fox, when have I ever lied to you?” His lips brushed her damp temple. “Do you really have so little faith in me?”
Sang Wan struggled, but he pressed a hand to her back, holding her still. Water splashed as he cradled her head, careful not to let her bump against the porcelain edge.
“Stop squirming!”
His deep, husky voice rumbled above her. Sang Wan pounded her fists against his chest, each strike like cotton candy hitting stone, harmless, yet melting straight into the depths of his heart.
Lu Tingzhou let her vent, resting his chin against the crook of her shoulder as he tightened his embrace bit by bit.
“Be good,” he coaxed softly. “Stop overthinking. There’s only you in my heart, no one else can take your place.”
The bathroom’s soft, hazy light cast an intimate glow as his fingertips traced the delicate curve of her spine, leaving a trail of heat. Their breaths mingled, sweet and damp.
…
When she woke the next morning, sunlight spilled through the sheer curtains, painting the room in gold. The other side of the bed was empty, only the faintest trace of his scent lingering in the sheets.
Sang Wan rolled over and smacked her own cheeks lightly, muttering to herself, “Pathetic. Weren’t you supposed to stay cold for three days? Ignore him for a week? And yet you surrendered after just three sentences…”
Lying in bed scrolling through her phone, Sang Wan noticed that yesterday’s news about the arranged marriage had disappeared, replaced by another trending hashtag: #PresidentLuIsIndeedTrueLove#
Curious, Sang Wan clicked on it and saw a Weibo account with an avatar identical to Lu Tingzhou’s WeChat profile picture.
The comments below read: “President Lu really is devoted to Sang Wan, his Weibo account only follows her, and he’s been following her for years.”
Intrigued, Sang Wan tapped into the account and confirmed it was indeed Lu Tingzhou’s, with her as his sole follow.
There was only one post, a statement from last night:
[This is Lu Tingzhou. Due to internal company conflicts, false information was spread. I hereby clarify: My relationship with Sang Wan is stable, and we are officially dating. There is no arranged marriage. I promise that as long as Miss Sang does not leave, I will never abandon her.]
Sang Wan was stunned. The simple statement clarified the situation, but the mention of “internal company conflicts” inadvertently confirmed the online rumors about family disputes.
Of course, there was also an influx of congratulatory messages from fans, flooding both his and her Weibo accounts.
Bai Wei sent her a message: Holy crap, keep flaunting your love like this. Even hit dramas can’t compete with this level of buzz, it’s gonna piss off certain people.
The “certain people” referred to Song Zixi, whose drama had just premiered. It was her first time as the female lead, and during what should have been her peak promotional period, all attention was stolen by Lu Tingzhou and Sang Wan.
Furious, Song Zixi smashed her phone at home.
Sang Wan stared at Lu Tingzhou’s Weibo for a long time. He had been doing everything to give her a sense of security, ensuring she never suffered any grievances.
Love should be mutual warmth, not one-sided effort.
The obstacle between them was Old Master Lu, but Sun Meixi was largely the one stirring trouble.
After some thought, Sang Wan decided she needed to address the root of the problem.
Sun Meixi disliked her because of Wang Sheng and resented her for disrupting the match she had arranged for Lu Jinxuan.
That was why she kept making a scene in front of Old Master Lu, Sang Wan had no trouble figuring that out.
It was time to have a proper talk with Sun Meixi. Otherwise, Lu Tingzhou would keep exhausting himself dealing with these issues.
Just as she was thinking this, her phone lit up with a call from Su Mo, who spoke rapidly: “Wanwan, can you meet me before noon? Shen Yubai says he found a great place and wants to show us.”
Hearing Shen Yubai’s name, Sang Wan was puzzled, how did he get involved?
“Sure, send me the address. I’ll meet you there.”
After hanging up, Sang Wan messaged Lu Jinxuan, asking him to help arrange a meeting with Sun Meixi.
Knowing his mother had been causing trouble for his uncle and Sang Wan, Lu Jinxuan didn’t ask questions and simply replied with an “OK.”
In good spirits, Sang Wan changed into a simple knit dress, threw on a trench coat, and left bare-faced. By the time she reached the meeting spot, it was nearly 11 a.m.
From a distance, she saw Su Mo waving from the sidewalk, and beside her, leaning lazily against a car with sunglasses on, was Shen Yubai.
“Finally, you’re here!” Su Mo grabbed her arm. “We’ve been waiting forever!”
Shen Yubai removed his sunglasses and winked at them. “Future Mrs. Lu, allow me to escort you to the little paradise I’ve handpicked for you. Guaranteed satisfaction.”
The three of them walked side by side into a standalone vintage townhouse at the corner of the street, its tall floor-to-ceiling windows dappled with the shadows of trees.
The first-floor lobby was spacious and airy, featuring a solid wood bar and an open tea break area. The second floor was partitioned into several independent studios, each window adorned with stained glass of different styles, scattering sunlight into colorful fragments across the desks.
Su Mo twirled excitedly, exclaiming, “It’s so beautiful! This place is absolutely perfect for a design studio, don’t you think?”
Sang Wan glanced around, her gaze drifting from the vintage wall clock to the rose vines in the courtyard, then to the café and art bookstore across the street. A smile tugged at her lips:
“The environment is fantastic, and the location is convenient with good foot traffic. But the rent must be expensive, right?”
Shen Yubai shrugged with a carefree smirk. “Don’t worry, I know the landlord: handsome, kind, and loaded. He’ll give us a good deal…”
He deliberately leaned closer, nudging Su Mo with his elbow. “Since the tour guide at the film studio treated me to so many good meals, I’m just returning the favor.”
Su Mo pushed him away, her face scrunched in disgust. “Stay away from me. I’m allergic to jerks.”
Shen Yubai gritted his teeth. “I’ve figured it out, you’re just plain clueless.”
Yes, in his eyes, Su Mo was utterly clueless. Countless women schemed to throw themselves at him, yet she acted as if she couldn’t stand being near him.
Sang Wan, however, was thoroughly satisfied with the place. “Mr. Shen, I’ll take it.”
“But the rent should be at market rate. I don’t want to take advantage of you.”
Shen Yubai chuckled. “No problem. You don’t even have to pay rent. I’ll just find another way to get it back from Lu Tingzhou.”
“Of course, I knew Mr. Shen wouldn’t make a losing deal.”
Su Mo scoffed beside them. “Yeah, Scrooge is his ancestor.”
Shen Yubai flicked her forehead. “Since when did I change my surname?”
Su Mo bared her teeth. “Go ask your dad when you get home.”
Sang Wan didn’t bother mediating their bickering. Instead, she studied the layout of the house, already planning how to renovate it.
After walking around, she pulled Su Mo aside to share her ideas, both of them buzzing with excitement.
Shen Yubai leaned against a pillar, watching the animated woman before him. Unconsciously, his lips curved into a smile. He hadn’t expected a woman’s enthusiasm to be so captivating, it made his own lack of ambition seem all the more pitiful.
…
By the afternoon, after visiting several renovation companies, Sang Wan returned home as dusk fell.
Exhausted, she kicked off her shoes and headed straight upstairs, craving nothing but sleep.
Aunt Liu was cooking in the kitchen and smiled when she saw her return. “Wanwan, dinner’s almost ready.”
Sang Wan waved her off as she walked. “Aunt Liu, let me nap for a bit. I’m so tired.”
Aunt Liu didn’t stop her, figuring she’d call her again later.
Sang Wan went to her room, took a quick shower, and collapsed onto the bed. Aunt Liu tried waking her twice, but each time she just mumbled sleepily about being too exhausted.
It wasn’t until Lu Tingzhou returned that Aunt Liu sighed and took his coat with a helpless smile.
“Wanwan seems really worn out lately. She’s been sleeping nonstop and skipped dinner again, going straight to bed as soon as she got home.”
Lu Tingzhou had been busy recently and wasn’t sure what time she woke up in the mornings, but every time he came back, she was already asleep.
“Did she wake up early today?”
Aunt Liu chuckled. “She didn’t come downstairs until past ten. I checked on her twice, but she was still out cold.”
Lu Tingzhou strode upstairs.
The bedroom was dimly lit, silent except for the faint sound of steady breathing. The small figure was curled under the blankets, fast asleep.
He stepped inside, softening his footsteps as he approached. Watching her peaceful expression, he hesitated to wake her.
But the thought of her going without food made him relent.
He reached out and pinched her cheek. “Little lazy fox, if you keep sleeping like this, you’ll turn into Sleeping Beauty.”
Sang Wan, half-asleep, heard the familiar voice and mumbled, “Tingzhou.”
That single word instantly transported Lu Tingzhou back to three years ago, when the same soft-spoken girl would lazily call his name just like that.
Leaning down, Lu Tingzhou gently kissed her forehead.
How fortunate they were, three years later, they could be together again.
