- He Lost Control with Jealousy — What Happened to Being Untouchable?
- Chapter 58 - Softly Nestled in His Arms
Seeing Shen Yubai, Su Mo curiously approached. “What brings you here?”
Since apologizing to him that one time, Su Mo no longer felt she owed him anything. Besides, she had already resigned, so there was no need to treat him with deference.
“Isn’t it obvious? Someone here misses his woman, and as for me, I’m just here to have fun.”
Su Mo rolled her eyes at his roguish grin. “The set is full of young stars, perfect for someone like you, President Shen.”
With that, she walked away without another word.
Shen Yubai chuckled in exasperation. “Little girl, you’re getting bolder by the day, huh?”
When Sang Wan returned to the break room, a certain someone followed right behind her.
The moment the door closed, he wrapped his arms around her from behind.
“Should I tell Old Luo to call it a night?”
Lu Tingzhou respected her. She had just asked for a ten-minute break, and if he unilaterally decided to wrap up filming, the little minx would definitely be unhappy.
“Lu Tingzhou, are you doing this on purpose?”
The man turned her around to face him.
“You’re deliberately standing right in front of me, blocking my view. How am I supposed to get into character?”
Looking at the woman who hadn’t seen him in two days, now pouting and softly nestled in his arms, Lu Tingzhou bit his lip and smirked.
“That just means your self-control is lacking. You can’t resist my charm.”
Sang Wan was speechless. She considered herself thick-skinned, but this shameless man was on another level.
An old tree finally blooming, a peacock flaunting its feathers, it was enough to make anyone’s head spin.
She glared at him indignantly. “I’m warning you, if you go out there and disrupt things again, I’ll really kiss Xiao Yan. Right in front of you.”
Lu Tingzhou’s eyes darkened. Damn it, if he pushed the little fox too far, she’d actually go through with it.
“Could you even bring yourself to do it?”
His tone was casual as he leaned in to kiss her, but she raised a hand to stop him.
“Xiao Yan is gentler than you, and extremely good-looking. Kissing him would be a win for me. Why wouldn’t I?”
Sang Wan wasn’t refusing him to spite him, she just didn’t want to redo her makeup and waste time.
“Fine, go ahead and kiss him. I won’t interfere.”
With that, he let her go, outwardly composed but inwardly unwilling to risk her acting on her threat.
“I trust President Lu to keep his word.” Sang Wan gave him a reassuring peck on the lips. “Wait here for me. Ten minutes, tops.”
Watching her slender waist and the sway of her skirt as she hurried off, Lu Tingzhou smiled.
But he still couldn’t resist stepping outside again, this time standing slightly further back.
He didn’t dare take the risk. If the little fox spotted him and decided to kiss Xiao Yan out of spite, he’d be the one losing out.
Outside the studio, the night was thick and dark, but inside, the warm lighting of the peach blossom set created an intimate, dreamy atmosphere.
Sang Wan steadied her breathing and turned her gaze back to Xiao Yan.
This time, she shut out all distractions.
Director Luo Zheng watched the monitor with satisfaction.
“Perfect, hold that!”
Xiao Yan’s fingers gently brushed Sang Wan’s hair, his eyes brimming with tenderness.
Sang Wan tilted her head slightly, her long lashes fluttering, her cheeks flushed with just the right mix of maidenly shyness and longing for her beloved.
They leaned closer, their noses almost touching.
The tension between them was palpable, enough to quicken anyone’s pulse through the screen.
Standing at the back of the crowd, Lu Tingzhou clenched his fists unconsciously.
He reminded himself, this was work, just acting.
But the ache in his chest and the surge of jealousy refused to be suppressed.
“Cut!”
Luo Zheng finally called it.
“Perfect! That’s a wrap!”
He let out a long sigh of relief, finally, this scene was wrapped.
The crew members relaxed visibly, starting to pack up their equipment.
As Sang Wan finished filming, her assistant, Qi Qi, immediately handed her a coat and a bottle of water.
Lu Tingzhou watched her wrap up and, almost instantly, turned on his heel, striding quickly back to Sang Wan’s private dressing room.
He picked up his phone, fingers idly scrolling, feigning nonchalance.
Shen Yubai, visiting the film set for the first time, was curious about everything, wandering around and chatting with a young woman from the crew.
When Su Mo left, she caught sight of him and couldn’t help but purse her lips.
A womanizer, flirting everywhere he goes.
Sang Wan returned to her dressing room and immediately spotted the man sitting elegantly on the sofa, flipping through his phone.
She walked over without hesitation and plopped right onto his lap.
The man stiffened.
Sang Wan wrapped her arms around his neck, tilting her face up with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
“Mr. Lu, a reward for you, you behaved so well today.”
With that, she leaned in, pressing her soft lips against his cool ones.
Lu Tingzhou’s gaze darkened like a stormy sea.
Cupping the back of her head, he took control, deepening the kiss.
Breaths tangled, the temperature in the room spiked.
Only when Sang Wan was nearly breathless did Lu Tingzhou finally ease back, resting his forehead against hers, his voice rough.
“Little minx.”
He nipped her lower lip lightly before adding, “Go wash off your makeup. We’ll continue at home.”
Sang Wan’s cheeks flushed pink as she nuzzled against him like a contented kitten.
Upon arriving home, Lu Tingzhou was just about to step inside when someone blocked his path.
“Mr. Lu, hold on.”
Su Mo and Qi Qi stood on either side of the doorway like sentinels.
“It’s too late, Wanwan needs rest. She has an early call time tomorrow,” Su Mo explained kindly.
Sang Wan, having just changed her shoes, peeked at the man being barred outside with a hint of sympathy.
But she really couldn’t let him in, otherwise, she wouldn’t get any proper rest tonight.
She had to follow the doctor’s orders.
Qi Qi, far more polite than Su Mo, added, “Sister Wan has injuries. The doctor said she needs quiet recovery.”
Lu Tingzhou: “…”
Injuries? What injuries? Weren’t they already healed? This little fox is making excuses again.
His handsome face darkened as he stared at Sang Wan.
Sang Wan blinked innocently, hiding behind Su Mo before peeking out to wave at him.
Lu Tingzhou took a deep breath, his temple throbbing.
What kind of nonsense is this?
He’d traveled all this way, only to be barred from his own woman’s door?
A profound sense of disappointment washed over him.
Since her best friends were still single, they couldn’t very well relay the doctor’s exact words to him.
So Sang Wan picked up her phone and sent her sugar daddy a message: [Got hit in the abdomen during filming yesterday. The doctor said I need rest.]
After sending it, she waved her phone at the dejected man.
Lu Tingzhou understood immediately, pulling out his own phone. Seeing her message, he asked urgently, “Is it serious?”
“Not serious. A few days of rest and I’ll be fine.” Sang Wan pressed her lips together, her voice sweet and soft. “Goodnight, Mr. Lu.”
With that, she turned and headed inside.
Lu Tingzhou watched her retreating figure, his heart chilling. Heartless little thing, can’t I even hold you to sleep?
But with Su Mo and Qi Qi standing guard like fortress walls, the man had no choice but to leave.
Shen Yubai had just finished showering and was standing on the balcony in his bathrobe, smoking a cigarette, when he saw Lu Tingzhou step out of his car.
Feeling bored with the monotonous nightlife of the film studio and lacking anyone to mess around with, his interest was instantly piqued.
He went downstairs and leaned against the elevator entrance, raising an eyebrow with schadenfreude.
“Well, well… got kicked out, huh?”
Lu Tingzhou shot him a cold glance.
Shen Yubai clicked his tongue twice. “Never thought I’d see the day. You rushed over eagerly, only to be completely rejected.”
“Piss off,” Lu Tingzhou gritted out through clenched teeth.
Shen Yubai, seeing how irritated he was, laughed so hard his shoulders shook.
With a mischievous grin, he followed Lu Tingzhou into the elevator.
“Seriously, your efficiency is way too low. You chased her all the way here, and you’re still playing the innocent card?”
Lu Tingzhou leaned against the elevator wall, half-lidded eyes not even looking at him, offering a defensive explanation. “She’s injured. Focus on the project, don’t leave everything to me.”
With that, he slammed the door shut with a loud bang, leaving Shen Yubai standing outside, still wanting to enter.
…
The next afternoon, Lu Tingzhou was handling work in his hotel room, preparing for a video conference.
Later, he called Luo Zheng to arrange a dinner for the film crew that evening.
In high spirits and with it being the weekend, Luo Zheng canceled the night shoot on the spot.
Sun Qian, who hadn’t been with the crew the previous night, was unaware that Lu Tingzhou was at the film studio. She leaned toward Song Zixi in confusion. “Zixi, what’s going on? Why is Director Luo suddenly treating everyone to dinner?”
Song Zixi’s face darkened, her voice laced with obvious anger. “How should I know?”
Seeing her mood, Sun Qian didn’t dare ask further.
At the banquet, glasses clinked and laughter filled the air.
Sun Qian’s eyes lit up when she spotted Lu Tingzhou seated at the head of the table.
Sang Wan, upon entering, was immediately seated beside him. Even Xiao Yan was placed on the other side of Luo Zheng, clearly positioning Sang Wan in a place of importance.
Beneath the table, a man’s large hand had somehow, with complete nonchalance, settled on Sang Wan’s thigh.
His warm fingertips traced slow, deliberate circles on her smooth skin.
Sang Wan stiffened, her cheeks instantly flushing pink.
She nervously glanced around, terrified someone might notice the “mischief” happening under the table.
But Lu Tingzhou acted as if nothing were amiss, continuing his lively conversation with Director Luo Zheng, even as his wandering hand showed no signs of stopping.
Song Zixi remained silent the entire time, watching the two sitting so close together, her displeasure reaching its peak.
She immediately sent a message to her sister, Song Xinran, who was already at the film studio’s hotel. Having learned last night that Lu Tingzhou was there, she had arranged for her son in the morning and rushed over.
Lu Tingzhou was returning to Shencheng the next day. Since the crew knew he was here, it would be inappropriate for him, as an investor, not to make some gesture, hence the dinner.
When Sang Wan went to the restroom, Sun Qian followed.
“Sang Wan, sitting so close to President Lu, aren’t you afraid your sugar daddy will get jealous?”
She gave Sang Wan a disdainful look. “Let’s not pretend. Just because you leaked some audition footage doesn’t mean your lead role was earned fairly. Who knows what shady character you’re tied to.”
After all, Song Zixi had told her that the woman by Lu Tingzhou’s side was her sister.
So, it would never cross her mind that Sang Wan’s backer was Lu Tingzhou himself.
Sang Wan ignored her, shooting her a contemptuous glare before returning to the private dining room.
Pushing open the private room door, her expression instantly turned pouty as she lifted her foot to give Lu Tingzhou a light but deliberate kick under the table.
She chided, “President Lu, someone said I’ve been hanging around with shady people. What do you have to say about that?”
After all, many in the crew had seen Lu Tingzhou enter her dressing room, there was no point in hiding it now.
Besides, she hadn’t pursued the matter with Sun Qian simply because she lacked evidence and had to swallow the injustice, but that didn’t mean she’d tolerate it again.
Lu Tingzhou curled his lips, capturing her mischievous foot under the table, his deep voice laced with amusement.
“Oh? You want me to say something?”
The indulgent tone in his voice made everything clear to everyone present.
Sun Qian, who had just followed them in, stiffened, what was going on?
“People are calling you shady, and you’re just going to take that?”
