- He Lost Control with Jealousy — What Happened to Being Untouchable?
- Chapter 37 - In Such a Hurry
A long time passed until Lu Tingzhou finally released Sang Wan, who was gasping for breath.
“Trying to escape after stealing a kiss? Next time, remember to react faster.”
Lu Tingzhou pinched her cheek, his eyes brimming with amusement.
Sang Wan pursed her lips and pushed him away, glancing at the surroundings outside the car.
She blinked in confusion, it wasn’t the hotel she usually stayed in.
“Where is this?”
Lu Tingzhou got out first, circling around to open the car door for her with effortless grace.
“Come and see,” he said, his tone light but laced with a hint of indulgence upon closer listening.
Still a little dazed, Sang Wan followed him inside.
Bai Wei and Qi Qi were setting the table, everything perfectly harmonious.
“Wanwan, dinner’s ready,” Aunt Liu said with a smile as she saw her enter. “There’s fish soup, your favorite.”
Hot food waiting the moment she stepped in, this was the kind of treatment she had before her mother passed away.
The feeling of coming home instantly made her nose sting with emotion.
The interior was warm and tastefully decorated, a far cry from the impersonal feel of a hotel.
“Let’s eat.”
Lu Tingzhou took her hand, guiding her step by step toward the dining table.
Sang Wan followed for a few steps before tugging his hand to a stop.
“Mr. Lu, did you… rent this for me?” she asked, surprised.
Lu Tingzhou held her hand, a faint smile playing on his lips as he replied calmly, “Bought it.”
Sang Wan: “…”
“The paperwork was finalized yesterday. The keys have already been given to Xiao Qi.”
Sang Wan’s heart swelled with warmth. The care and affection she hadn’t felt in so long left her speechless, and she could only stare at him blankly.
The warm-toned lighting in the room cast a golden glow around him, making him appear even more noble and untouchable. Behind his glasses, his eyes held a soft amusement.
Seeing her stunned expression, Lu Tingzhou knew exactly what she was feeling. He teased her deliberately, “Miss Sang, a little restraint, please. There are so many people watching.”
“Well, if it’s inconvenient, we can all leave. You can even go upstairs if you want,” Bai Wei chimed in, her eyes crinkling with laughter as if someone had stuffed a piece of candy into her heart.
She had only meant to spectate, but the sweetness of their interaction was overwhelming.
Lin Hao sighed inwardly. His boss’s love life was exhausting him. Just yesterday, he had to negotiate with the real estate agent and pay the full price upfront just so they could move in before the official transfer.
With such a tight deadline, he had made four trips in two days. Was it easy being him?
Sang Wan shot Bai Wei a look, her lips pressed together shyly, then pulled Lu Tingzhou down to eat. “Aunt Liu’s fish soup is my favorite. It’s delicious, you should try it too.”
Once Lu Tingzhou took his seat, Sang Wan gestured for everyone else to sit as well, creating the cozy atmosphere of a family gathering.
After dinner, Bai Wei excused herself, claiming she had to meet with a director.
Qi Qi dragged Aunt Liu along, saying they needed to pick up a few more things from the supermarket.
Lin Hao announced he had to refuel the car.
In the blink of an eye, everyone tactfully made their exit.
Sang Wan grinned at Lu Tingzhou, teasing, “Mr. Lu, everyone’s scared of you. They’re all running away.”
Though her expression was lighthearted, her heart ached with reluctance. He would be leaving soon, and who knew how long it would be before they saw each other again.
Lu Tingzhou pinched her cheek, his voice low. “Yes, they’re running away, afraid of getting in the way of my business.”
Sang Wan really didn’t want to understand immediately, but as a modern woman well-versed in online culture, how could she not?
Her ears turned red instantly, but she blinked her big, innocent eyes deliberately. “Business? Mr. Lu still has things to do? Then today must have been really troublesome for you.”
Lu Tingzhou didn’t expose her little act. He reached out and ruffled her fluffy hair. “I had an additional van arranged for you, specifically for cooking. Aunt Liu will go with you to the set during the day. If you want to eat anything, just ask her to make it for you.”
Then, with a slight frown, he added, “Takeout isn’t healthy. You’re not allowed to eat it anymore.”
Sang Wan watched as he meticulously arranged everything, from her living arrangements to her meals, even considering details she might not have thought of herself.
Suddenly, she felt like she wasn’t in a relationship with a boyfriend.
It was more like being… micromanaged by an overprotective old father.
The thought made her want to laugh.
Boyfriend?
At the mention of those words, Sang Wan’s heart uncontrollably sped up.
Between them… had they ever actually clarified that they were “dating”?
He had kissed her, held her, and helped her deal with so many troubles.
So… did that mean she was his girlfriend now?
Once the thought surfaced, it sprouted wildly like bamboo shoots after rain.
Sang Wan bit her lower lip and stole a glance at Lu Tingzhou.
His phone rang just then. After a quick look at her, he stepped onto the balcony to take the call.
Sang Wan faintly heard a woman’s voice on the other end.
Whatever was said, Lu Tingzhou’s mood seemed to darken. His responses were low and brief, ending with just a quiet, “Mm, stay safe.”
After hanging up, he stood there, lost in thought, his sharp profile cold yet undeniably captivating.
Taking a deep breath, Sang Wan slowly walked over. “Lu Tingzhou…”
Hearing her voice, he lifted his gaze, his eyes questioning.
“Um… so…” Her palms were sweating, her tongue stumbling. “Am I… are we… dating?”
The words “girlfriend” circled on the tip of her tongue but refused to come out.
Lu Tingzhou studied her nervous little face and those shimmering eyes, his own gaze deepening.
He pocketed his phone and stepped closer, one deliberate stride at a time.
Sang Wan’s heart pounded harder, thudding so loudly it might leap out of her throat.
He stopped right in front of her, his tall frame enveloping her completely.
Leaning down, he brought his lips close to her ear, his voice deep and magnetic. “What do you think?”
His warm breath brushed against her skin, sending a shiver down her spine.
Sang Wan’s face flushed instantly, red as a ripe apple.
His long, elegant fingers gently lifted her chin, forcing her to meet his eyes.
“If we’re not dating, then what? A sugar daddy and his canary?”
At the mention of “sugar daddy,” her face burned even hotter. How did he know she had saved him under that name?
Ah, he must have seen it when she was texting in the car earlier.
Cornered, Sang Wan straightened her neck defensively. “Old man, peeping at my phone.”
“Old man?”
Lu Tingzhou’s expression darkened instantly. Was this little brat calling him old?
He couldn’t help but recall how she had once called him a “stodgy fossil.”
A wave of frustration hit him. Sure, he was seven years older than her, but that hardly qualified as “old,” did it?
“Do I seem old to you?”
Seeing his sulky expression, Sang Wan cupped his face with both hands and smiled reassuringly. “Not old at all. You’re perfect just the way you are.”
Lu Tingzhou’s eyes darkened further. Without another word, he scooped her up and carried her to the sofa.
The moment they sat down, his thin lips covered those alluring red ones that had been tempting him.
Sang Wan, deeply kissed by him, found her hands unconsciously wandering to the man’s firm waist, mischievously tugging Lu Tingzhou’s shirt out from where it was tucked into his trousers.
By the time Lu Tingzhou realized what was happening, she had already succeeded, her fingers trailing along his back.
Lu Tingzhou raised a hand to stop her restless movements, lifting his gaze to meet hers, his voice low and husky. “In such a hurry?”
With that, he trailed kisses from her lips down to her collarbone, then nipped it lightly as if in punishment.
Sang Wan let out a soft whimper, instantly igniting a fire within him that made it unbearable to continue. He immediately halted all movement.
Inwardly, he reminded himself: don’t rush, take it slow. Sang Wan had only just accepted him.
Though she wouldn’t refuse him now, he still wanted to wait until she fully opened her heart to him.
When that time came, he wouldn’t leave her any way out.
Sang Wan lifted her misty eyes, gazing at the mesmerizing man before her.
Her delicate fingertips traced his Adam’s apple. “President Lu, turns out you’re the real master angler.”
Lu Tingzhou curved his lips into a smile, answering honestly, “Actually, I never planned to fish.”
Sang Wan pressed closer to him, her eyes fixed on the movement of his throat.
“And now?”
Lu Tingzhou stared at her already flushed lips, then deliberately shifted his gaze away.
“Now… it feels pretty good.”
Hearing the answer she wanted, Sang Wan tilted her head up, pressing her red lips against his Adam’s apple before giving it a teasing bite.
“Give and take, fair’s fair.”
Lu Tingzhou watched her smug expression, a faint smile tugging at his lips as he reached out to ruffle her hair.
“It’s getting late. If I don’t leave now, they won’t dare come back to rest.”
He adjusted Sang Wan’s clothes and lifted her off his lap, standing up slowly to straighten his own attire: tall, poised, and radiant like the moon in the sky.
Sang Wan watched him, reluctant to let go. She had taken the initiative, yet not only had the man not taken the bait, he’d left her burning with desire.
Before leaving, Lu Tingzhou kissed her forehead and murmured, “Be safe.”
The formal farewell made her nose sting with emotion.
All these years, she had been with Bai Wei and Qi Qi, acting like an inseparable trio.
They had always come and gone as they pleased, when had she ever felt this reluctant to part?
But no matter how much she didn’t want him to leave, he couldn’t just abandon his billions to stay here and accompany her on set, could he?
People had to be realistic.
Sang Wan watched as Lu Tingzhou got into the car, her gaze lingering until the vehicle disappeared from sight.
She just felt… hollow inside.
He had only just left, and yet… she already missed him.
This feeling was unfamiliar and overwhelming, leaving her at a loss.
Not long after the car drove off, Lin Hao noticed the bite mark on his boss’s throat and stifled a laugh, inwardly delighted.
Lu Tingzhou closed his eyes to rest, trying to suppress the emotions of parting.
“You’ve handled things well these past couple of days. Your year-end bonus is doubled.”
The joy Lin Hao had been holding back instantly burst forth, a wide grin spreading across his face.
It seemed that as long as he handled Miss Sang’s affairs well, he’d never have to worry about food or drink.
“Thank you, President Lu.”
The amusement in Lin Hao’s voice made Lu Tingzhou frown slightly.
At least someone was happy, he was still suffering.
The next day, Storm Rising officially began filming.
This drama was practically guaranteed to be a hit.
With Xiao Yan joining the cast, the show was already generating massive buzz, its popularity soaring.
He was naturally the center of attention.
As the female lead, Sang Wan, though not as popular as Xiao Yan, had seen her own popularity skyrocket in recent days.
Dressed in her costume, she wore an ancient-style outfit that accentuated her pure and adorable charm. With a poised smile, she joined the director, producers, and other actors in offering incense for blessings.
Standing in the back row, Song Zixi stared at Sang Wan’s back, her fists clenched tightly inside her sleeves.
Gritting her teeth in secret, she thought, Sang Wan, your time in the spotlight won’t last much longer.
