- He Lost Control with Jealousy — What Happened to Being Untouchable?
- Chapter 34 - Thank You for Letting Me Kiss You
Sang Wan felt as if her mind had been blown away. Her watery eyes stared blankly at the man in front of her, frozen in place.
“Was I not clear enough?”
The man’s deep voice carried an unmistakable undercurrent of restrained emotion.
“I worked overtime for you the moment I got off the plane. Shouldn’t I be compensated?”
Sang Wan gazed at the faint smile on Lu Tingzhou’s lips and snapped back to reality, her face flushing even hotter as she processed his words.
“Was it really you who helped me with the online situation?”
Though she already knew the answer in her heart, she still asked aloud.
Lu Tingzhou frowned. “Who else were you hoping it would be?”
Sang Wan bit her lip, unable to suppress the smile spreading across her face.
She rose slightly on her tiptoes and pressed a light kiss to his thin, attractive lips.
Just a fleeting touch.
Sang Wan felt nervous. Even though she had longed for this moment, now that she finally had the chance, she found herself hesitating.
There was a vast difference between flirting and actually acting on it.
“You’ve always wanted to kiss me, haven’t you? Now that I’m giving you the chance, you’re being so half-hearted.”
Her face burned, and she muttered softly, “I wasn’t half-hearted… It’s just that I’ve never…”
She wanted to say she had never kissed anyone before, even in scenes for dramas, they had always used camera angles.
“Nervous?”
The man’s warm breath brushed against her face, and as his grip around her waist tightened, Sang Wan’s heart raced uncontrollably.
“Too late.”
Before she could react, his warm lips had already captured hers with precision.
“Mmm…”
Sang Wan’s eyes flew open wide, the taut string in her mind snapping completely.
Once again, she was left dazed.
Lu Tingzhou’s kiss was both domineering and tender, carrying an irresistible force yet handling her with care, his hand cradling her head protectively to prevent any accidental bumps.
Lost in the moment, Sang Wan inhaled his familiar scent and slowly closed her eyes.
Sensing her tension and reliance, Lu Tingzhou tightened his hold on her waist, pulling her closer into his embrace.
The heat from his body seeped through their thin clothing, sending waves of warmth that made her heart tremble.
This kiss was far more commanding than the tentative peck they had shared on the balcony before.
As Sang Wan gradually regained her senses, she realized the man she had secretly fantasized about for days seemed to have missed her just as much.
A sweet sensation spread from her chest, and she began responding to him hesitantly.
Feeling her reciprocation, Lu Tingzhou deepened the kiss.
“Mmm…”
Sang Wan was utterly overwhelmed, her breathing ragged as she surrendered to his rhythm.
In her mind, she had never been kissed like this before, completely powerless against Lu Tingzhou’s alternating tenderness and dominance.
Her entire being melted under his touch, her thoughts dissolving into blankness.
Lu Tingzhou lifted her effortlessly, his hands supporting her securely to keep her from collapsing.
Time seemed to stretch endlessly until Sang Wan felt she might suffocate. Only then did Lu Tingzhou finally ease his hold, allowing her a moment to catch her breath.
Their foreheads pressed together, breaths mingling. Lu Tingzhou gazed at her, his eyes brimming with unspoken affection.
“Payment received,” he murmured in a husky, satisfied voice against her ear.
Sang Wan’s cheeks burned crimson, her eyes glazed and dazed.
She felt utterly boneless, as though she had nearly drowned in his kiss, her body now limp and weak.
Lu Tingzhou watched her delicate and charming appearance, his Adam’s apple involuntarily bobbing as the darkness in his eyes deepened.
He carried Sang Wan to the sofa and sat down, his thumb gently tracing her lips, his voice husky.
“Have you thought it over these past few days?”
“Huh?”
Sang Wan looked at him in confusion, her small face scrunched up, her mind still foggy.
She only felt that the man before her was completely different from usual.
The Lu Tingzhou of before was aloof, unapproachable, noble and untouchable.
The Lu Tingzhou now gazed at her with undisguised desire, no longer holding back.
This version of Lu Tingzhou made Sang Wan want to reach out, to touch him.
“Have you figured out what you want?” Lu Tingzhou asked again with immense patience, his gaze burning.
Sang Wan felt flustered under his stare, the last remnants of her rationality long gone.
All she knew was that she was dizzy, hot, and her brain had shut down.
Lu Tingzhou seemed to see through her thoughts, the corner of his lips curling slightly, his voice laced with deadly temptation. “Approaching me, do you want money or me?”
Money or him?
Her little brain wasn’t capable of much thought at the moment. What kind of question was that? Shouldn’t the answer be both?
Sang Wan blinked and blurted out, “With money and looks, of course I want both.”
The words “want both” were clear and without hesitation.
The moment the words left her lips, the air seemed to freeze.
Lu Tingzhou’s hand, which had been resting on her waist, slowly withdrew.
He looked at her dazed eyes and slightly parted lips, as if still waiting for him, his gaze darkening.
After a long pause, he let out a low chuckle, one tinged with resignation, indulgence, and a hint of… barely detectable disappointment.
“Little thing,” he sighed, reaching out to ruffle her hair gently. “At least you’re honest.”
Lu Tingzhou released her, taking a small step back, halting all the teasing gestures.
And, of course, the impulse in his heart.
Sang Wan watched as the man withdrew, confusion washing over her.
Even her words carried displeasure. “Lu Tingzhou, what do you mean by that?”
Her tone was full of dissatisfaction and accusation. Her face flushed crimson instantly, her ears burning.
What was wrong with her? Was she really this lust-driven?
Lu Tingzhou bent down and pinched her cheek. “Little fox, you’re too greedy.”
“I… I am greedy by nature.”
She stumbled over her words, trying to explain, but her tone remained spoiled.
This was so embarrassing, it made her seem desperate.
“I haven’t eaten yet. Get yourself together, and I’ll go make something to eat.”
What he wanted was her heart, so there was no need to rush.
He would wait until this little fox fell for him wholeheartedly.
Just like before.
After Lu Tingzhou left, Sang Wan leaned back on the sofa, staring blankly at the ceiling.
He must like her, so why did he suddenly stop? Was it because of that question?
Did he think she didn’t like him?
But she did, didn’t she?
By the time Sang Wan emerged, Lu Tingzhou was already chopping vegetables.
She leaned against the dining table, watching the man move skillfully in the kitchen, unable to suppress a foolish smile.
It wasn’t the first time she’d seen him cook, but it was still mesmerizing.
A man who could handle both the drawing room and the kitchen, such men were rare.
The busy man seemed to have eyes in the back of his head. Just as she was staring intently, a lazy remark floated over, “If you want to look, come closer. You won’t see clearly from so far away.”
Sang Wan’s face flushed. She had been the one teasing him first, yet now she was the one being teased at every turn.
Teasing was fine, but the innocent President Lu still wouldn’t let her have a bite of meat.
Now she was beginning to understand what he was really after.
She couldn’t help but think, At his age, still wanting to date first, what an old-fashioned man.
Though she thought this, she still earnestly said, “Lu Tingzhou, thank you!”
Lu Tingzhou turned his head, raising an eyebrow at her. “For what?”
“Thank you for what you did for me tonight.”
The man feigned ignorance, deliberately steering the conversation off course. “For finally letting you kiss me?”
Sang Wan pressed her lips together, smiling without responding, and simply sat nearby, resting her chin in her hands as she watched him cook.
“President Lu, your cooking is so good. How did you learn?”
Lu Tingzhou paused for a moment, then turned to her and said seriously, “I used to have a cat. She was very picky, she’d only eat if I cooked for her.”
Sang Wan felt a pang of discomfort. This ‘cat’ was probably a vixen, a female one, no less.
“A woman, right?”
Lu Tingzhou glanced at her but didn’t deny it.
“Actually, you don’t have to hide it. Everyone has a past. Shen Yubai mentioned you had a woman before. It’s completely understandable.”
But everyone had a past, she had already come to terms with that. No need to dwell on it or overthink.
“Still, I can’t figure it out. How could someone like you get dumped?”
Lu Tingzhou’s hands stilled for a second. Had he been dumped?
It felt more like he had been completely forgotten.
“You’re so curious, are you jealous?”
“Not at all! I didn’t even know you back then. Why would I be jealous?” Sang Wan pressed on, curious. “How could someone as unattainable as President Lu get dumped?”
Lu Tingzhou turned to look at her. The girl’s striking fox-like eyes were fixed on him without blinking.
“So curious?” He turned back and said, “Maybe because she thought I was too old-fashioned and boring, so…”
Sang Wan blinked. Old-fashioned? He had been quite the smooth talker just moments ago.
“I don’t think that’s all there was to it. At the very least…”
Realizing she was overthinking again, Sang Wan quickly changed the subject. “How is she now?”
Lu Tingzhou sighed inwardly before answering in a low voice, “A smart woman wouldn’t pry into a man’s past at a time like this.”
Sang Wan huffed. “I’m just curious. If you don’t want to talk about it, fine. I won’t ask anymore.”
Half an hour later, the two sat at the dining table, each with a bowl of noodles, as usual.
“There weren’t many ingredients at your place, and it’s too late now. Let’s make do with this.”
Sang Wan shook her head. “It’s not ‘making do.’ I love tomato and egg noodles the most.”
Lu Tingzhou watched as she ate daintily, like a little cat, and the faint smile on his face deepened.
Sang Wan had gone past hunger and could only manage half the bowl before feeling full.
Lu Tingzhou noticed her picking at the noodles slowly and asked, “Can’t finish?”
Sang Wan nodded. “I really can’t eat anymore. It’s not because it’s not good.”
With a resigned smile, Lu Tingzhou took her bowl and started eating directly.
The motion was so natural and smooth.
Sang Wan’s eyes widened slightly. “That’s my leftovers.”
“I’ve already had your saliva.”
His tone was so matter-of-fact that it made her blush.
He really was hungry. To return as quickly as possible, he had barely eaten all day, having been on a plane the entire time.
Unaccustomed to the airplane food and having learned of her accident right after landing, he was practically starving, his stomach clinging to his back.
Sang Wan looked at him, narrowing her eyes slightly, thinking to herself that this man had changed.
By the time Lu Tingzhou finished cleaning up after dinner, it was already very late.
Just as he was about to leave, as if suddenly remembering something, he turned and asked, “Sang Wan, why did you choose to enter the entertainment industry back then?”
This was a question he had always wanted to ask.
Her dream had once been to have her own studio and create her own fashion brand.
Her sudden shift into the entertainment industry had taken Lu Tingzhou by surprise.
Standing beside him, Sang Wan was initially feeling a mix of emotions, perhaps even a reluctance to see him leave.
Hearing his question, she froze for a moment.
Seeing her silence, Lu Tingzhou assumed she didn’t want to talk about it. He ruffled her hair and said, “Get some rest early!”
“Because… of a dream,” she murmured softly, her gaze still distant.
“A dream?” Lu Tingzhou frowned.
“Yeah.” Sang Wan nodded, lost in memory. “I often have this dream where someone tells me not to wander off, to just stand in the most visible place and wait for him.”
Lu Tingzhou’s heart clenched violently, as if stuffed with damp cotton, leaving his hands trembling.
So, his little girl had done it for him. The answer to the question he could never figure out was actually because of his words.
He had always assumed she entered the entertainment industry for fame and fortune, for those elusive glories.
“Don’t you think it’s ridiculous?”
Sang Wan knew others wouldn’t believe her, Bai Wei was one of them.
Instead of answering, Lu Tingzhou asked hoarsely, “Was it a man?”
“Yeah. Unfortunately, I’ve never seen his face clearly, but I get the feeling he must be really handsome.”
As she spoke, Sang Wan narrowed her eyes slightly, trying hard to recall the man from her dream.
“Actually, I’ve always wanted to see what he looks like. I try so hard every time, but I just can’t make him out.”
Lu Tingzhou’s heart sank abruptly.
Suppressing the turbulent emotions in his eyes, he deliberately infused his voice with a mix of grievance and bitterness. “Then doesn’t that make me the unlucky one? After working so hard for you tonight, turns out there’s always been someone else in your heart?”
Sang Wan burst into laughter, the earlier melancholy dissipating instantly.
She leaned closer to him, blinking mischievously. “President Lu, are you… jealous?”
