- Chapter 27 - Starlight and the Novice’s First Step
Wen Linyu had a very restful sleep. As expected, once the loathsome people and things were gone, even the air felt infinitely fresher. The soft bed was so comfortable he didn’t even want to wake up.
And so, he didn’t. He slept straight through to sunset, only opening his eyes when he felt a faint itch on his face.
The moment his eyes opened, he saw Gu Chi retracting his hand.
Gu Chi’s gaze flickered elsewhere for a moment before returning. “Ayu, you’ve been asleep for a long time.”
Wen Linyu sat up halfway and let out a lazy yawn. “How long?”
Gu Chi held up three fingers. “Three days.”
Linyu froze. He pulled out his phone and checked; sure enough, he had actually slept that long. Fortunately, there were no urgent matters requiring his attention.
Ah, wait actually, there was one.
Wen Linyu looked at Gu Chi, carefully reading the subtle hint of boredom in his voice. It wasn’t a complaint about Linyu sleeping too much; it was that while Linyu was asleep, Gu Chi had been bored out of his mind.
“What were you just doing?” Linyu asked.
Gu Chi replied: “Nothing!”
“Tsk tsk tsk. Look at him acting like he did something scandalous, when in reality he didn’t even dare touch his hand. Pathetic!”
“Tsk, it was just touching an eyelash, yet he made it feel like a secret kiss!”
Two voices rang out simultaneously in the minds of Wen Linyu and Gu Chi.
And so, Wen Linyu knew. And Gu Chi became quite annoyed.
He snapped at the expert he had “hired”: “Who gave you permission to watch?!”
The expert felt wronged and spoke his mind: “Brother, I wasn’t even looking! Your inner voice is just so loud that it’s hard not to hear it!”
Like a little fan… it flutters when I touch it. so cute, so soft, I really want to… He really didn’t want to hear all that!
Being kidnapped was annoying enough without having to listen to this nonsense!
“Besides, what are you afraid of? In a moment like that, you should just go for it!”
“Go for what?” Gu Chi didn’t understand the slang.
“Tsk,” the expert said with a trace of disdain—elementary schoolers were so hard to teach. “Kiss him! And then tell him ‘Baby, you smell so good.'”
“Get out!” Gu Chi barked. “Shameless!”
The Expert: “???” Fine, fine, go play your ‘pure love’ games then!
The expert retreated, but Gu Chi’s gaze drifted back to Wen Linyu’s lips. Unfortunately, the moment had passed, and such an opportunity would be hard to find again. Besides, he had tried kissing him on that mountaintop before and had been pushed away; he hadn’t liked that feeling at all.
Back then, it might have been partly because Ayu didn’t know who he was, but to sum it up: Gu Chi was now a bit hesitant. He feared being pushed away again, and more than anything, he didn’t want to see disgust in Wen Linyu’s eyes.
998 was also monitoring Gu Chi’s every move. Seeing his eyes linger on Linyu, it began to mock him again: “Pah! You have the desire of a thief but the courage of a coward. Trash!”
Wen Linyu acted as if he heard nothing, rising naturally to wash up.
Having had a great sleep, his body felt lighter. Watching the sun dip below the horizon and the stars fill the night sky, Linyu felt a sense of relaxation he had never known before.
He stared at the starry sky with the most important person by his side. With his state of mind transformed, he finally saw how vast and beautiful the heavens were. The stars were tiny yet brilliant, each one unique.
It wasn’t like before, when he only saw the sky turning black, the world going dark, and the lights going out.
His life had a new beginning and a future to look forward to.
It was truly wonderful.
Linyu began to smile again. He seemed to be in a particularly good mood today. Gu Chi’s gaze fell upon the curve of his lips, staring intently until Linyu turned his head and called his name: “Gu Chi.”
“Mmh?” Gu Chi answered first before realizing Linyu had used his name, not “Teacher.” He shifted his gaze upward, meeting the boy’s eyes.
Those eyes, filled with starlight, were so beautiful they were intoxicating.
That starlight drew closer, and closer still.
Linyu’s breath brushed against his face. Gu Chi saw the smile on Linyu’s lips widen, and then, without any warning, something soft touched his own lips.
Linyu said: “Thank you for coming here. I’m very happy.”
Rigid. Gu Chi went rigid again. Then came a heart that wouldn’t stop racing, lips that felt numb as if they’d lost all sensation, and a sweetness that was impossibly soft spreading through every part of his body.
It was completely different from the mountain peak where he hadn’t tasted anything.
“Holy crap! He took the initiative! Are you even a man?!”
The voice in his head was screaming. He really was peeking! That cursed liar actually dared to watch!
Another voice, much closer, joined in the mockery: “I’m floored. It had to be the host in the end! This guy is way too pure! He knows nothing. Does he think the host has to be the one to teach him how to do… that?”
Who was talking? It sounded familiar.
But that wasn’t the point. The point was—Ayu just kissed him!
His runaway brain finally returned. Gu Chi saw the soft eyelashes he had touched earlier trembling uncontrollably. Before Linyu could pull away, Gu Chi’s rigid hands finally regained their function. He pulled the boy close and, with great reverence, returned the kiss.
Unlike his first inexperienced attempt or Linyu’s light peck, this one was much deeper.
Gu Chi didn’t know what he was doing; he relied entirely on instinct, acting like a puppy—kissing, licking, and nibbling. Linyu’s ears turned red at the sounds. In the end, it was Linyu who had to guide him, teaching him how to correctly, sweetly, and enjoyably share a kiss.
Having found the pleasure in it, Gu Chi didn’t let him go for a long time.
When they finally broke apart, Wen Linyu’s face was flushed, his eyes were misty, and he was slightly breathless. Fortunately, he now had cultivation, so his physical stamina was excellent.
Gu Chi managed to say the line the expert had taught him: “You smell good… and you taste sweet.”
“Ahem.” Linyu pushed him away, but it wasn’t a forceful rejection; it was a move tinged with embarrassment, not anger.
He was like a cat—very cute. So cute that Gu Chi wanted to go for round two.
That night, they still didn’t sleep together.
This was the expert’s suggestion. Gu Chi’s gaze looked murderous again; he had just learned how to kiss, and as a beginner, he was quite addicted. He wanted to continue “practicing” with his Ayu.
The expert was very serious, metaphorically tapping a chalkboard: “It’s no use looking at me like that. Your technique is terrible. You must study properly before then, or he will definitely grow to dislike you.”
Gu Chi narrowed his eyes threateningly. “Say that again?”
The aura of death loomed again. The expert stammered a bit but remained firm: “Based… based on my observation, you are completely clueless in that department. You don’t want the first night to be a disaster, do you? Be careful not to leave him with a trauma. This is very important!”
“What do you mean, a disaster?” Gu Chi didn’t understand how kissing and intimacy could lead to injury.
The way the expert looked at Gu Chi was truly beyond words. Does this man not even know the basics? I’ve really run into an elementary schooler!
The expert’s advice was for Gu Chi to study hard so he wouldn’t be completely ignorant. In a moment like that, did he really want his wife to take the lead in everything? If he knew nothing, it would be too easy to cause pain, and he wouldn’t be the only one suffering.
This “expert” actually was an expert in his past life. He had seen far too many cases of couples who were sweet and in love but broke up because they weren’t compatible in bed.
He had to prevent that! At the very least, he couldn’t let the Demon Lord blame him for a bad experience later!
Gu Chi listened with a foggy mind. At a time like this, he really missed his butler. Without needing a full explanation, the butler would know exactly what he needed and deliver it.
Now, everything was so troublesome.
But since the scammer sounded so serious, Gu Chi’s own attitude became serious too. He had worked hard to get a kiss from Ayu; he didn’t want to be hated for anything.
And what exactly is this ‘technique’? Are there sets of moves for romance, just like for combat?
Gu Chi searched for the series of book titles the expert suggested and began reading them one by one.
He was shocked, then shocked again. Wave after wave of information hit him.
The physical reactions he hadn’t understood before finally had professional terms, explanations, and solutions. He also finally realized that “Dual Cultivation” wasn’t just about taking off clothes and touching; there were many procedures involved.
Gu Chi closed his eyes, not wanting to recall his own stupidity. To think he had believed he and Wen Linyu had already performed Dual Cultivation on his first night here!
All that clinging and cuddling—in his mind, it had been a done deal.
He regretted it. He regretted not bringing the butler along; otherwise, he wouldn’t have made so many embarrassing mistakes!
“Who is the butler?” the expert asked, having heard the man call out for him several times. Is there some melodramatic love triangle? Butlers are very popular character tropes these days.
Gu Chi was cold: “None of your business. Just do your job.”
The expert pouted. Use me and toss me aside… what a heartless man!
Armed with a head full of theoretical knowledge, Gu Chi adjusted his state. Under the expert’s guidance, he appeared before Wen Linyu today wearing a light-colored shirt with the top buttons undone.
The slightly open collar made his Adam’s apple very prominent as he spoke and moved.
It truly made one want to take a bite.
Wen Linyu stole several glances until Gu Chi looked down and asked what was wrong. Only then did Linyu snap back to reality to check the map.
Today, they were going “beachcombing” and sea fishing. Linyu had seen videos of it yesterday and was interested; he had never tried it before. Before going, they had to understand the specific location and the tide times.
In the morning, the two set off from home. For the entire day, they had no intention of using their powers, choosing instead to use public transportation.
They weren’t in a hurry. If there was a delay on the road, they could simply stop to enjoy the surrounding scenery, taste the food, or buy local specialties.
This slow-paced style of travel—playing wherever they went—was incredibly relaxing. With a good mood, they could discover more beautiful places, ensuring every frame of their memories was colored with happiness.
In the past, Gu Chi would have called this “doing nothing,” but now, he called it a “travel date.”
He used to feel bored because he was alone with nothing to do, and it made no difference what he did. Now, it was different.
He didn’t understand why the same activity felt so vastly different when he did it alone versus with Wen Linyu. For him, the objective result was the same.
The most absurd part was that even looking at the same sky, his mood was different.
The Expert: “That’s what we call Love!”
It took over a day for Linyu and Gu Chi to reach the small island they had chosen. The island was abroad and the environment was excellent. It wasn’t one of the most famous tourist islands—its name was quite obscure—but because it wasn’t well-known, the marine resources were plentiful and of high quality. Only those coming specifically for the experience would find it.
On the famous islands, there were too many restrictions.
Of course, none of that was an issue for Wen Linyu and Gu Chi.
Taking the hotel car, they arrived to check in. The bellboy helped carry their luggage to the room.
Gu Chi scanned the environment. It was clean and spacious, though the decor was a bit flashy with many flower-themed designs. Once he was done looking, he asked Linyu: “Am I staying next door?”
Wen Linyu looked at him, remained silent for a moment, and then replied: “I only booked one room. Do you want to stay next door?”
Before Gu Chi could answer, both the Expert and 998 were screaming in his head: If you dare say ‘yes,’ you’re going to be sleeping alone for the rest of your life!
