Good Night, Brother! - Chapter 7.2
The festive vibe lifted Eunhyun’s spirits despite his exhaustion from work. Loosening his previously stiff expression, he wandered through the campus and soon found the business school bar, as the friend had described. A large banner made it easy to locate.
Fewer people were inside the bar than he had expected. Perhaps many had gone to see the performances. Spotting a tall woman with long hair, who seemed to be part of the event staff, Eunhyun approached her to ask for help. Her outfit, colorful and eye-catching, gave her away as part of the bar’s operations.
“Excuse me, sorry to bother you, but is Jeong Yi.”
“Hyuung!”
“Hyeon?”
The woman turned, flashing a bright smile at Eunhyun. It was, indeed, Yi Hyeon.
“…”
No wonder her height seemed unusually tall for a woman. With her high heels, Yi Hyeon appeared to tower over two meters. Even as Eunhyun stared directly at his sibling, he found it hard to believe what he was seeing. While his eyes registered the sight, his brain struggled to process the information.
There stood Yi Hyeon, with waist-length, jet-black hair flowing down his back. A large red peony hairpin adorned one side of his head, complementing his striking red lipstick. His outfit, a red cheongsam, matching red high heels, and bold, dramatic makeup—commanded attention. The sharp, upward flick of eyeliner added a haughty elegance to his tear-streaked, reddened eyes.
The cheongsam clung to his toned figure, emphasizing his lean, muscular physique. The sleeveless dress revealed his broad, well-defined shoulders, while a daring triangular cut below the neckline exposed his muscular chest. Long slits on either side of the skirt revealed his athletic legs, clad in sheer black stockings.
Eunhyun let out a disbelieving chuckle.
They’re really allowing him to dress like this and serve drinks at school? What on earth is going on here? This is insane. Utter madness.
As Eunhyun swept his gaze up and down Yi Hyeon’s outfit, frowning, his younger brother clung to his arm with a coy expression.
“Hyung?”
“Ugh! You reek of alcohol.”
“Do I? Hiing.”
Eunhyun sighed in exasperation, baffled by the situation.
“Alright, Jeong Yi Hyeon. Here, put this on. You’ll catch a cold.”
He had plenty to say but decided it was pointless to argue with a drunk Yi Hyeon. Gently removing his arm from his brother’s grasp, Eunhyun draped his oversized windbreaker over Yi Hyeon’s shoulders. The chilly night air made him worry for his scantily dressed brother.
“Let’s go home. You’ll get sick.”
As Eunhyun began leading him away, he suddenly recalled that Yi Hyeon must’ve worn something else to campus earlier. Just as he was wondering where those clothes were, Yi Hyeon clutched his arm and whined.
“Hyung! My clothes and my baag.”
“Where are they?”
“In the department room.”
“Alright. Let’s stop there first.”
Yi Hyeon, still clutching Eunhyun’s arm, wobbled precariously in his heels as they walked. Despite being drunk, he managed to navigate in the stilettos surprisingly well.
What’s his shoe size anyway? Bigger than mine, and I wear a 270. Where did he even find heels that fit him?
As Eunhyun marveled at the situation, Yi Hyeon suddenly stopped and slurred, “Hyung, I made a lot of money today.”
“What money?”
Yi Hyeon reached into a hidden pocket in his cheongsam, fishing out a wad of cash in various denominations. The sight was suspicious, to say the least.
“Where’d you get that? Is it even yours?”
“Yeah! Customers gave me tips for drinking with them.”
“What? Are you serious?”
Eunhyun frowned, appalled by the unethical and questionable method of earning money. Before he could respond, Yi Hyeon hurriedly added, “Hyung, don’t worry! I didn’t talk to any women, I swear… only men! I know you don’t like it when I talk to girls.”
Eunhyun sighed deeply. Yi Hyeon’s strange idea of loyalty left him at a loss for words. As he tried to figure out where to even begin correcting him, Yi Hyeon stuffed the cash into Eunhyun’s windbreaker pocket.
“Here! Use this money to buy something tasty for yourself, Hyung!”
“Forget it. You keep it.”
“Ehh, that’s too much.”
Eww, what’s with the “eww” again. I’m really going crazy.
Eunhyun had a small scuffle with Yi Hyeon, who kept clinging and pretending to be cute, as they entered the business school building. Whether it was because they were still using the original building from the early days of its establishment, it looked quaint if you wanted to be polite or worn out if you didn’t.
The corridor on the third floor, where the department room was located, was dimly lit with minimal lighting. When they reached the department room at the end of the hallway, Yi Hyeon rummaged through the inner pocket of his skirt, pulled out a key, and opened the door.
“Why does Yi Hyeon have the key to the study room?” Eunhyun wondered briefly, but…
“Well, that makes sense,” Eunhyun thought to himself. “During the festival, many outsiders come and go, so it’s important to lock the doors properly. Otherwise, someone might steal a bag or something.”
The question quickly dissolved into a series of self-justifications.
As they entered the study room and turned on the light, the interior revealed itself to be cozy and neatly decorated, a stark contrast to the dreary impression given by the gray iron door. One wall was lined with bookshelves and cabinets, while another featured a large table and a sofa. In one corner, there was even a large bed.
Eunhyun, noticing the bed, made a casual remark.
“There wasn’t a bed in our study room.” Nice.
“Do you like it?”
“Uh, it must be nice not having to go to the lounge during your break.”
“That’s right.”
With Yi Hyeon’s answer, the door closed, followed by a click as the locking mechanism engaged.
“Why lock the door?”
“Just in case.”
The younger sibling’s once-awkward pronunciation had grown so clear that it rivaled that of a professional announcer. However, Eunhyeon was too preoccupied with opening the cabinet to notice.
