God is Being Pampered by the Group - Chapter 20
Chapter 20: Remember to Share Good Things
Wuhu
To say Bai Yan was bad at gaming was actually not quite accurate, because the images he saw were different from what others perceived.
In Guan Zhou’s eyes, modern technology had already reached a point where games were incredibly exquisite. In a 3D environment, every blade of grass and every tree was clearly visible. Issues like clipping or texture bugs were virtually non-existent technical flaws.
But for Bai Yan, the experience was entirely different. He saw dim, white clusters, like patches of mist.
Thus, Bai Yan understood those were nascent worlds, yet to take shape. Or rather, they had not yet birthed their own consciousness. Perhaps after the baptism of endless eons, they would evolve into brand-new worlds.
However, the chances of succeeding were slim.
This was the first time Bai Yan had encountered such a phenomenon. As an ordinary human on the original Earth, he might have understood it as just code, but during his millions of years as a deity in the other world, this had never occurred.
Bai Yan couldn’t quite figure out the reason for a moment. Perhaps these were born from the imaginations of intelligent beings, with the created games serving as the medium… It was hard to say.
So, while Guan Zhou saw Bai Yan playing terribly, Bai Yan was actually exploring those clusters of white mist, like a toddler learning to speak or practicing walking, stumbling and bumping along.
He had never dealt with this situation before; it was an unexpected surprise.
Guan Zhou saw that although Bai Yan still played poorly, his expression was clearly one of joy. Guan Zhou was also very happy, as if he felt the same emotion, and his attitude toward the black cat even improved significantly.
“Come here.”
Guan Zhou hooked his finger at the black cat curled up beside Bai Yan.
“What?”
Despite the verbal sass, the black cat felt no malice from Guan Zhou, so it reluctantly hopped off the sofa and walked toward him.
Guan Zhou said nothing. He reached out and picked up the black cat as it approached. Before it could struggle, he said: “Don’t move, I’m giving you a bath.”
The black cat actually stopped moving. Its long body hung in the air as Guan Zhou carried it into the bathroom. However, its suspicious gaze kept darting toward him, wondering if the sun had risen from the west why was he actually bathing it?
As it turned out, Guan Zhou really was just giving it a bath without any ulterior motives.
But as he scrubbed, the black cat suddenly heard Guan Zhou muttering to himself:
“…Hmm, no fleas, the water is still clean. Unlike an ordinary stray cat. Is it because it’s a demon? Still, I wonder if it carries any unknown diseases. Should I take it to be disinfected…”
Black Cat: “…Meow!”
It swiped at him directly.
Tonight, inside the tiny dwelling, all was still peaceful.
…
Downtown Xingyang.
On the surface of a skyscraper that seemed to pierce the clouds, the large words “Yiyun Media” were printed. Clearly, this building was the headquarters of the Yiyun Media Group.
As everyone knew, the Wencheng District had three major film and entertainment companies: Yiyun Media, Noel Culture, and Union Pictures. These were the places where countless young people with acting dreams longed to enter and make a name for themselves.
At this moment, in an office on the fiftieth floor of the Yiyun Media building, Qi Yue was sitting boldly on a sofa in front of a floor-to-ceiling window. He had his legs crossed in a very lazy and uninhibited posture.
His manager, Wang Shan, who was standing nearby, was already used to it and simply rolled her eyes.
After a while, Qi Yue seemed to lose his patience. Ignoring Wang Shan’s discouraging expression, he stood up from the sofa, preparing to head for the door.
However, just as he stood up, a figure appeared outside the door, as if perfectly timing Qi Yue’s patience not a second too late, not a second too soon.
Wang Shan breathed a sigh of relief and called out: “Teacher Zuo.”
A slender figure appeared, wearing a light-colored, well-tailored suit. His black hair, slightly longer than a typical short cut, lay neatly against his forehead and neck. He had sharp eyebrows and bright eyes, a warm face, and a slight smile at the corners of his mouth.
This was the winner of the previous “Golden Script Award” for Best Actor, Zuo Chengyi.
Qi Yue glanced at him and sat right back down on the sofa. He crossed his arms and lifted his legs to rest them directly on the coffee table, his posture even more arrogant than before.
Fortunately, Zuo Chengyi didn’t mind this “rudeness.” He simply ignored him and nodded with a smile to Wang Shan.
Under Zuo Chengyi’s gentle gaze, Wang Shan’s cheeks seemed to redden slightly. Seeing this, Qi Yue couldn’t help but let out a “tsk” and spoke:
“Idiot.”
In an instant, the atmosphere was ruined.
Wang Shan… glared at Qi Yue. Facing Zuo Chengyi, she regained her professional demeanor. She coughed and said: “Then I’ll head out first. You two talk.”
With that, she stepped out and closed the office door behind her.
In the spacious room, only Qi Yue and Zuo Chengyi remained. Or rather, two demons.
Only then did Zuo Chengyi finally fix his gaze on Qi Yue, raising an eyebrow slightly.
“Is this your attitude toward a senior? After all this time, I thought you might have improved a little.”
Qi Yue sneered, though he did take his legs off the coffee table. However, his arrogant stance didn’t change much.
“Cut the crap.”
He stood up to pass by Zuo Chengyi, but the words that reached his ears made him pause.
Zuo Chengyi said: “No need to go. I just came down from upstairs.”
The reason Qi Yue was here to meet Zuo Chengyi was for the monthly meeting with the Boss. Zuo Chengyi wasn’t wrong to call himself a “senior,” as he was Qi Yue’s mentor and guide.
However, given Qi Yue’s stubborn and arrogant nature, it was hard to say if he had even a shred of respect for his “guide,” Zuo Chengyi.
Fortunately, Zuo Chengyi didn’t mind. He just did what he had to do, so long as the other didn’t cause trouble.
Hearing Zuo Chengyi’s words, Qi Yue paused for a moment before turning around, narrowing his eyes slightly, and huffing:
“In that case, why did you even tell me to come over? What a waste of effort.”
Zuo Chengyi sat on the sofa and pressed the tea-brewing button on the coffee table. Amidst the sound of trickling water, the corners of his lips turned up in a gentle smile:
“Come and sit first.”
After staring at him for a moment, Qi Yue clicked his tongue and walked back to the sofa in a few strides. He sat down right where he had been, leaning back with his head tilted, his sitting posture still very dominant.
“Fine, speak. Stop acting all mysterious.”
Although he didn’t have much of an affinity for Zuo Chengyi, Zuo Chengyi’s superior was the Boss, so he had to show some face.
Zuo Chengyi smiled and didn’t speak immediately. Instead, he took out two cups, pushed one toward Qi Yue, and then picked up the fragrant teapot, filling both cups with a pale red tea.
Wisps of steam rose slowly.
Qi Yue frowned, his suspicious gaze falling on the tea. Vaguely, he seemed to sense something familiar about it.
Opposite him, Zuo Chengyi had already picked up his cup and taken a slow sip. His eyes, which always seemed to carry a warm smile, narrowed slightly, revealing a slit-like, fox-like expression.
He said: “Aren’t you going to taste it?”
After a pause, he sighed lightly: “Though the flavor is a bit off, this is the closest thing I could find that matches his aura…”
Qi Yue snapped his eyes up, finally remembering what that familiar sensation was.
“You”
Just as he spoke, Zuo Chengyi blinked and smiled: “Good things… must be shared.”
“Don’t you agree… junior?”
