God is Being Pampered by the Group - Chapter 2
Chapter 2: Are You a Bad Person?
Bai Yan.
Bai Yan.
Two ordinary-looking characters were His name from two lifetimes ago. In His last life as a deity in an otherworldly realm, He had no fixed name; people simply addressed Him as “God,” or “The Great Existence.” That identity was destined to be extraordinary.
Now, turning back the pages of memory, He told Guan Zhou this name.
Bai Yan.
Since He was here, He would make the most of it; at least this world still had familiar elements.
As for His origins, there was nothing that couldn’t be said. Of course, Guan Zhou’s reaction was within expectations. Had He not experienced that long and miraculous journey across aeons past, Bai Yan likely wouldn’t have believed it either.
It didn’t matter.
The long ages spent as a god in the previous world had left Bai Yan’s emotions like the surface of an ancient well without a ripple, rarely fluctuating.
He watched Guan Zhou, who looked satisfied after obtaining His name. His gaze moved past the man, scanning the bookshelves that covered an entire wall. Dense rows of books filled the shelves; with His exceptional eyesight, He could easily read the titles.
On the Self-Cultivation of an Actor, The Actor’s Study Manual, The Art of Film Performance, Psychology of Literature and Art, The Gate to Stardom…
Bai Yan also spotted a history book among them and blinked slowly.
Thus, when Guan Zhou walked out of the kitchen carrying two bowls of noodles, he saw the silver-haired beauty named “Bai Yan” holding a history book as thick as a brick, looking exceptionally graceful while reading quietly.
So, that “coming from another world” stuff was definitely a scripted character background, right?
Guan Zhou shook his head.
Speaking of which, as an actor himself, he wasn’t even as dedicated as an outsider! Was this why he had never become famous?!
Guan Zhou’s eyes lit up as if he had seen a path to glory. Even the way he looked at Bai Yan became a few degrees more “kind,” appearing somewhat like a “creepy uncle.”
Bai Yan flipped to the last page, reading ten lines at a glance, and finally closed the thick history book.
He had already understood the history of this world from this book. The early stages were indeed very similar to Earth, but a divergence occurred starting from the Tang Dynasty. After the Kaiyuan Peak Period, the world gradually moved toward globalization. There was no later invasion by the Eight-Nation Alliance, nor were there various unequal treaties forced upon the nation.
To this day, Huaxia (China) was one of the world’s powerful nations, holding a pivotal position on the international stage that no country dared to ignore.
This brought a bit of comfort to Bai Yan. This world, so similar to Earth, was likely a parallel world branched off from the original universe.
In the world of His first life, physicists of the time had hypothesized the concept of a multiverse, but technology was limited and they were unable to prove it.
Now, Bai Yan had witnessed it with his own eyes.
…
In the early morning, the first ray of sunlight projected through the window, slowly extending from the floor to the bed, illuminating several strands of silver hair that seemed to sparkle in the light.
Bai Yan lay quietly on the bed with His hands resting on His abdomen, silver hair spread across the pillow.
After a long while, His closed eyelashes quivered slightly and He slowly opened them, revealing a pair of pale golden eyes tranquil and void of any sleepiness.
For Him currently, sleeping or not was a matter of total indifference. However, the owner of this house had kindly given up the only bedroom for Him while sleeping on the sofa in the living room; He had to at least go through the motions.
Bai Yan calculated the time and sat up. A strand of silver hair slid from His shoulder. The next moment, a knock sounded at the door.
After receiving a response, Guan Zhou opened the door. His gaze brushed over Bai Yan’s silver hair and golden eyes, and he marveled once again in his heart—they were real, not a wig or colored contacts.
Last night, when Bai Yan stepped out of the bathroom, Guan Zhou noticed that His hair and eyes remained exactly the same as before He went in, though He had changed into the new shirt and white trousers Guan Zhou had prepared.
Looking like this, although Bai Yan was still stunning, that strong sense of “cosplay” had vanished.
Breakfast consisted of fried eggs and sandwiches, plus two glasses of milk. As someone who barely reached the “18th-tier” and usually only got roles as “cannon fodder” or one-time body doubles, Guan Zhou’s financial situation was clearly not optimistic, judging by the cramped living environment.
Under the pressure of life, Guan Zhou had unknowingly maxed out his cooking skills, making him the epitome of a “good domestic man.”
However, Guan Zhou usually didn’t have time for elaborate meals. He basically bolted down his lunch and dinner; as for breakfast, he usually skipped it entirely.
But this morning, after crawling up from the sofa with an aching back, he vaguely remembered the silver-haired beauty he had picked up last night, and Guan Zhou found himself walking into the kitchen without realizing it.
By the time he snapped out of it, breakfast was ready.
Whatever, one should show some tolerance and care for beautiful things, Guan Zhou thought, refusing to admit he was blinded by beauty.
“Where is your home? I’ll drive you back in a bit.”
He decided to see his good deed through to the end.
Bai Yan glanced at him sideways but didn’t speak.
After saying this, Guan Zhou didn’t expect a response. After last night’s interaction, he had gained a general understanding of this silver-haired beauty’s personality. He wasn’t sure if the guy had stepped out of his “character persona” yet, but he planned to just take him to see the police for a “cup of tea” later. He believed the helpful officers would help Him find “home.”
Guan Zhou was tidying the table and about to take things to be washed when his elbow accidentally bumped a glass placed on the edge of the table. A shallow layer of milky white liquid remained at the bottom; he had no time to react and could only watch helplessly as it fell toward the floor.
However, in the next second, Guan Zhou’s eyes widened, full of shock.
He saw the glass, which should have been in free fall, stop in mid-air until a fair finger gripped it and placed it back on the table. The contact between the two made a crisp sound that seemed to ring against Guan Zhou’s eardrums, snapping him back to reality.
Guan Zhou looked up abruptly, staring in shock at the calm Bai Yan.
“That just now?”
He felt certain he hadn’t seen it wrong.
Bai Yan answered him flatly: “It is as you saw.”
“!!!”
Seeing it with his own eyes and hearing Bai Yan admit the fact made Guan Zhou’s logic scatter in the wind. He felt his worldview shatter and then reconstruct itself.
So, could the thing Bai Yan said about coming from another world also be true?!
Guan Zhou took this question seriously for the first time.
Subsequently, several details he had ignored surfaced in his mind, including the fact that he clearly hit the other party yet they were uninjured, and that the exotic white robe changed out of after the shower seemed to have… vanished…
Guan Zhou’s expression was complex. Finally, he took a deep breath.
“I believe it a little now,” he said to Bai Yan.
“Though it is incredible, it is the truth,” Bai Yan replied, delivering the final heavy blow.
However, with that came a multitude of problems. This wasn’t something that could be solved by going to the police for tea if anything, He might be taken away for dissection…
Guan Zhou shuddered and quickly shook his head.
Now, they couldn’t go to the police station. And there was one more thing—
Guan Zhou’s expression turned serious. “How can you tell someone something so important so casually? What if I had bad intentions and just happened to believe you? It’s too dangerous!”
However, one sentence from Bai Yan instantly broke through his defenses.
“Then, are you a bad person?”
“…”
“Anyway, I already know, so let’s leave it at that. Just to be safe, you cannot mention a single word to anyone else about coming from another world!”
“…Then I shall listen to you.”
“What do you mean ‘listen to me’? You need to have this sense of crisis yourself!”
“…”
“Did you hear me?”
“…”
On the second day of picking up the silver-haired beauty, the prototype of Guan Zhou as a “nagging mother” began to emerge.
