- Chapter 7 - Sweetheart, You're So Sweet
Fu Chengyan watched the girl eating happily, the corners of his lips lifting once again.
Feeding her was something that brought him joy.
She really was just a kid, couldn’t catch her breath while kissing, went weak in the legs afterward, and still needed to be fed during meals.
“No more, no more. I’m probably going to get a little belly again, and Sister Zhuang will scold me,” Li Muli muttered as she set down her chopsticks.
“Let me feel,” Fu Chengyan said, his large hand reaching over.
She smacked his hand away and glared at him fiercely. “Stop being a pervert.”
So fierce, yet so adorable.
Damn, he wanted to hold her again, wanted to kiss her again.
The ring of his phone interrupted his thoughts.
Picking it up, he saw it was that annoying assistant of his again.
“What is it?” His tone was icy and detached.
Lin Yuan’s heart trembled. Why did he feel like President Fu sounded impatient?
He felt wronged, but he didn’t dare say it.
Straightening up, Lin Yuan replied, “President Fu, you have a meeting in half an hour.”
Fu Chengyan’s brow furrowed tighter. This assistant was getting more and more irritating. Maybe he should consider transferring him to Africa and swapping him with Lin Xiao.
“Delay it.”
“Don’t call me again.”
Li Muli naturally noticed what had just happened. She raised an eyebrow and said, “Go back.”
Cold and unfeeling, unpredictable and moody this was the real Fu Chengyan.
This was also the him from her past life.
“I don’t want to leave you, sweetheart,” Fu Chengyan said, pulling her into his arms and lowering his voice.
His mood changed faster than anyone else’s. This was something she hadn’t expected.
The him in this life really was different from the him in her past life.
Li Muli curved her lips into a smile. “A big shot like you needs to work hard. I’m counting on clinging to your coattails.”
“You can do that now too. Give it a try.”
“Is this a girlfriend privilege?” she asked, propping her cheek on one hand as she smiled at him.
Fu Chengyan leaned down and gently pecked her lips. “It’s a sweetheart privilege.”
Damn, he was breaking the rules again.
She lightly licked her lips, her eyes and brows brimming with laughter. “President Fu, your words are so sweet.”
“Sweetheart, you’re sweet too,” he said, kissing her dark eyes again.
The girl’s eyes were full of laughter.
And her eyes were full of him, too.
He really wanted to tuck her into his pocket and carry her with him everywhere.
“Let’s go, let’s go,” Li Muli said, pushing him. If they kept holding each other, they’d probably end up kissing over and over again.
She suspected President Fu was some kind of kissing maniac.
President Fu felt extremely wronged. In his first twenty-six years, he had never kissed anyone. But after meeting her, it was as if some hidden switch had been flipped.
All he wanted was to stick to her, kissing and holding her.
Fu Chengyan effortlessly scooped the girl up in a princess carry and strode toward the door.
“I can walk by myself.”
“Your legs are weak.”
Li Muli: Deceased.
“I can just sit in the car,” Li Muli protested again.
“The car isn’t comfortable. Be good, sweetheart.”
Li Muli turned her head away, ignoring him. All excuses.
A man’s words are a devil’s deception.
Fu Chengyan looked at the girl sulking with her head turned and couldn’t help but chuckle. “Sweetheart, baby, pay attention to me.”
His voice, call after call, could captivate anyone’s soul.
Li Muli turned back to glare at him, being unreasonable. “How can you say it so easily? Tell me, how many women have you called that?”
Fu Chengyan was taken aback. “Sweetheart, you know you’re the only one.”
He didn’t know why, but those cheesy, sweet words just flowed effortlessly when he was with her.
She was always meant to be his sweetheart.
“Hmph,” the girl turned her head away again, ignoring him.
But deep down, she knew. After all, they had known each other for a very, very long time.
She understood him well, even in the years he wasn’t aware of.
Seeing the girl remain silent, Fu Chenyan hooked her chin, turned her head toward him, and said with a smirk, “Baby, maybe we were together in our past life.”
That was why, in this life, he had felt drawn to her from their very first meeting.
That was why, in this life, their first moments together were so sweet, with sweet nothings flowing effortlessly from his lips.
Because his heart remembered.
Li Muli stared blankly for a moment before tentatively asking, “Why do you say that?”
The man pressed her hand against his chest. “Here, it tells me it beats for you.”
Thump, thump the heartbeat was rapid and intense.
“Oh,” the girl nodded.
A bitter feeling welled up inside her. Perhaps it’s true your heart remembers me, but it doesn’t love me.
Silence fell between them.
“President Fu, we’ve arrived,” Jiang Fan in the front seat cautiously reminded him.
He was genuinely afraid. When it came to romance, President Fu was a master of sweet talk.
Phrases like “we were together in our past life” or “here, it tells me it remembers you”…
Li Muli wasn’t surprised to hear the car had stopped in front of her house.
From the moment she first provoked him, she knew he would investigate her. There was nothing to be shocked about.
“Baby, you forgot something,” Fu Chenyan spoke up as Li Muli was about to get out of the car.
She turned back, slightly surprised. “What?”
Fu Chenyan simply looked at her in silence, hoping she would figure it out on her own.
But the girl sat there, looking left and right, unable to figure out what she had forgotten, so she had to ask, “What is it?”
“Me,” he pointed at himself.
Li Muli’s pupils widened slightly. What was he playing at?
“Other couples share a goodbye kiss when they part, but you didn’t,” he explained, seeing her surprise.
His tone, actually sounded a little aggrieved.
Li Muli smiled helplessly. “I think you’re the real baby here,” she said, leaning in to press her soft lips against his.
“Alright, Baby Fu, goodbye.”
Watching the girl leave, Fu Chenyan touched the corner of his lips with his thumb, the curve of his smile deepening.
She called him “baby.”
Jiang Fan in the front seat couldn’t bear to watch.
The cloying scent of love. So annoying.
And President Fu in love was even more unbearable to witness. Listen to him goodbye kisses, calling her “baby” were these words a normal person would say?
After returning home, Li Muli quickly called Qiao Yi back, afraid that if she delayed, the “tyrant” would come after her.
“Yi, my dear, I’m here to confess,” Li Muli cooed into the phone as soon as she answered.
Qiao Yi rolled her eyes. “Let’s hear your excuses.”
Li Muli thought for a moment, choosing her words carefully. “Well, I saw a guy at a bar, flirted with him a bit, met him a few more times, and then we got together.”
“Damn, what kind of god-like man made you take the initiative to hit on him?”
“Hmm… a very handsome man,” Li Muli replied, a slight smile playing on her lips as she thought of the man’s exquisite face.
“…”
“How handsome? You’ve seen plenty of good-looking guys in the entertainment industry.”
Li Muli leaned back on the sofa, thinking before she spoke. “Broad shoulders, narrow waist, incredibly charming, with a great physique the kind of handsome that makes your legs weak.”
“Damn, even more handsome than that legendary President Fu the one who’s cold, ruthless, indifferent to women, and even to people in general, the one who could rely on his looks but insists on relying on his abilities?”
Li Muli hesitated for two seconds before nodding. “Pretty much.”
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to say more; she was afraid of scaring her friend.
Qiao Yi squealed again, “Ahhh, I’m so curious about the man who swept you off your feet!”
“I’ll introduce you to him when I get the chance.”
“Alright, sis. A hot guy’s friends must be hot too. Whether I can get a boyfriend totally depends on you,” Qiao Yiyi said with utmost seriousness.
Li Muli chuckled softly, “Of course. Our dear Yiyi will definitely find a handsome boyfriend soon.”
“Hmph, that’s more like it.”
After hanging up, Li Muli closed her eyes. In her past life, Yiyi had ultimately found great happiness.
In this life, she would surely find it too.
