- Chapter 39 - Baby, You’re Not Allowed to Disappear Again
Li Muli sensed the cool dampness on her neck and froze in surprise. Was he crying?
“You disappeared. I couldn’t find you no matter how hard I searched.”
The man’s voice was low and pitiful, as though he had suffered a great injustice.
Li Muli gently stroked his head, soothing him softly, “I didn’t disappear, baby. I rushed over as soon as I heard you were hurt.”
Ignoring her explanation, the man stubbornly held her tightly in his arms, terrified that she might vanish again.
“Loosen your grip a little, baby. Be careful of your wound.”
The girl called him “baby” over and over, her voice tender and comforting.
Fu Chenyan relaxed his hold slightly but still refused to let go, burying his face in the crook of her neck as he whined, “Baby, I promise I won’t be cold to you ever again, but you’re not allowed to disappear either.”
Li Muli was baffled. ??? In this lifetime, Fu Chenyan smiled the moment he saw her and practically clung to her every chance he got. Coldness? Only the him from her past life had treated her that way.
Her heart trembled slightly, and she asked cautiously, “Baby, why do you say that?”
He nuzzled her neck, his voice hoarse as he replied, “I had a very long dream. In it, you abandoned me, and I couldn’t find you no matter how hard I tried.”
“That won’t happen. Ayan will always be my baby. I would never abandon you.”
The girl’s beautiful eyes curved with a smile, her voice exceptionally gentle, gradually overlapping with the voice from his dream.
“Call me Ayan a few more times, please.”
Li Muli cupped his face, beaming with joy. “Ayan, Ayan, Ayan.”
“Ayan, I like you so much.”
“I like you too.” This time, he finally had the chance to say those words.
Li Muli’s eyes curved into crescents as she continued to indulge him. “Ayan is so handsome. I want to have babies with Ayan.”
“We’ll have a whole soccer team in the future.”
“Ayan is the best person in the world.”
“No, Libao is.”
“Chenyan, you’re awake? You were unconscious last night, and I was so worried. I just stepped out to buy some congee, and you woke up in that short time.”
Tan Yueli pushed the door open with a smile, holding a thermal container in her hand. She placed it on the table with practiced ease, as if asserting her dominance, completely ignoring Li Muli and acting as though she were the woman taking care of the man.
Li Muli sighed inwardly. The green tea vibes were overwhelming.
She’d give this performance full marks.
Should I give you my spot?? Miss Tea?
Li Muli pursed her lips, gathered her emotions, and let tears well up in her eyes, looking utterly pitiful.
“I’m sorry, Sister Yueli. It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have made you leave.” Li Muli hung her head, acting as if she had done something wrong.
Then, she tucked the blanket around Fu Chenyan, her face full of guilt and apology. “Ayan, it’s my fault. Sister Yueli stayed with you all night, and I showed up and chased her away.”
“Ayan, I’m sorry. Sister Yueli has been watching over you all this time.”
Who doesn’t know how to play the innocent saint?
Tan Yueli watched Li Muli’s hypocritical act, her hatred growing with every passing moment, yet her smile remained bright. “No, no, there’s no way Chenyan would blame you.”
Her words, both overt and implied, treated Li Muli as an outsider.
She couldn’t understand what Fu Chenyan saw in Li Muli. The woman put on a saintly act in front of him but showed a completely different side when alone with her.
“Since Sister Yueli has more experience, why don’t you take care of Ayan?” Li Muli, now fully immersed in her role, pouted and stood up to make room for Tan Yueli.
Fu Chenyan watched her antics helplessly, pressing his hand on her shoulder. “Feed me.”
“Yueli-jie has a natural talent for taking care of people, so it’s better if she does it. I’m all clumsy and can’t do anything right,” pouted pink lips, eyes brimming with tears as if she had been wronged to the extreme.
Tan Yueli watched the woman putting on an act while the man looked both helpless and doting, feeling so frustrated she could die.
She had originally wanted to use this opportunity to build a closer relationship with the man.
She never expected that Li Muli, that idiot, would rush over.
“Thank you for this time, and I apologize for my little one’s recklessness,” Fu Chenyan said, watching the girl’s tearful, delicate appearance and barely restraining himself.
The girl with her pink lips pouted looked like a plump peach waiting for him to pluck.
“My little one is a bit naive, but I’m sure you won’t hold it against her.”
These words cut off Tan Yueli’s escape route, elevating her status and forcing her to gracefully back down.
“Of course, Miss Li has a very unique personality, I quite admire it,” Tan Yueli said to Fu Chenyan with a gentle smile.
Then she turned her gaze to Li Muli, seemingly hinting with deeper meaning, “But it’s best not to be too sharp-edged in public, or… something unfortunate might happen.”
Fu Chenyan’s expression instantly darkened, the warmth on his face completely gone. “As long as I’m here, my little one can do whatever she wants.”
“As for Miss Tan, remember that careless talk may invite trouble.”
Tan Yueli, seeing the man’s sudden change in demeanor, felt a flicker of panic. She had been testing him, probing to see where his limits lay.
But she quickly regained her composure, as if the man’s warning had no effect on her at all.
“Chenyan, I didn’t mean it that way. I was just reminding Miss Li. Well, I won’t disturb you two any longer.”
With the sound of the door closing as the woman left, Fu Chenyan stared unblinkingly at Li Muli, reaching out to pinch her pink cheek.
“Baby, come closer. I have a little secret to tell you.”
Li Muli leaned in closer to the man, and he pressed her head down, gripping her lower lip to part her pink lips slightly.
He wantonly plundered her sweetness, domineering and overbearing, as if he wanted to devour her whole.
The forceful man, impossible to resist, made Li Muli feel so oxygen-deprived that she had to push hard against his chest, but his iron-like body didn’t budge an inch.
Seeing that his wound was about to reopen, Li Muli frowned and bit his lower lip hard. “Have you lost your mind, Fu Chenyan?”
The man released her, smiling as he touched the corner of his mouth no blood, she hadn’t been willing to hurt him.
Li Muli, seeing the lingering smile on his lips, felt even more upset. “Fu Chenyan, do you even realize you’re injured?”
Her voice trembled slightly with tears.
The doctor waiting outside heard the commotion and knocked on the door. “Mr. Fu, do you need us to come in?”
“Come in.”
“Mr. Fu, you need to be careful with your wound. It must not reopen, or else.” the lead doctor cautiously reminded.
The man’s expression grew even darker, so intense it seemed like ink could drip from it.
The doctor immediately fell silent and began tending to the wound on his chest.
“Doctor, continue,” Li Muli commanded with a furrowed brow, her eyes icy and her voice steady.
Her presence was no less imposing than the man’s.
Cold sweat beaded on the doctor’s forehead as he glanced at the intimidating man and then at the cold, downcast beauty beside him.
It seemed, neither of them was someone to mess with.
“Alright, Doctor, please continue.” Fu Chenyan rested his chin on his hand, a soft chuckle escaping from his chest.
The doctor couldn’t tell whether the man’s tone carried a threat or goodwill.
“Mr. Fu was incredibly fortunate the injury was less than two centimeters from his heart, and he lost a significant amount of blood…”
“After an all-night emergency surgery, we barely managed to save his life.”
The air grew thin again, and the doctor felt a chilling cold piercing straight into his lungs.
“Continue.”
The girl noticed the man was once again radiating an icy aura and lifted her gaze to stare at him.
