From Trashy A to the Heiress’s Little Son-in-Law After the Idol Competition (GL, ABO) - Chapter 15
The day of the theme song evaluation arrived.
All the members took their seats according to their classes.
“Today is another chance to show my skills. I’ll definitely stay in Class A,” Shi Zhengyi declared with the air of a conqueror, her voice brimming with passion.
“Ha ha ha.” Someone burst into mocking laughter.
Shi Zhengyi glared at He Rou. “What’s so funny?”
“Idiot, you might be good at rap, but your dancing is a complete mess. The only reason you made it to Class A is because of one standout skill,” He Rou sneered disdainfully.
Shi Zhengyi had long disliked her. If not for the crowd and cameras, she would’ve beaten up this clueless beta who didn’t know her place.
As a headstrong girl, how could she tolerate such humiliation?!
And of all people, those shipping fans had to pair her with He Rou! As if she was even worthy!
Shi Zhengyi turned away. “Just wait and see.”
Ji Mian arrived at the scene and smiled. “Hello, trainees.”
“Hello, National Producers!” Everyone stood and bowed to their senior.
Xiao Yanjin also rose to her feet, her legs aching terribly and her chest tight. She had forgotten that while she had a foundation in dance, her current body was completely unsuited for it uncoordinated and physically weak.
At this rate, Xiao Yanjin wasn’t sure she’d make it out alive.
Five trainees were called up first to perform the dance while Ji Mian and the other judges scored them via camera feed in a separate room.
Ji Yunuo didn’t want to wait any longer and stepped forward first.
Her performance was flawless, she didn’t even lose her breath while singing mid-dance. Many believed she was a shoo-in for the center position.
Seeing Ji Yunuo take the stage, Shi Zhengyi and Chu Luo refused to be left behind and quickly followed.
Shi Zhengyi accidentally missed a step. Though she recovered swiftly, the judges still noticed.
He Rou couldn’t help but smirk when she saw the mistake. This arrogant alpha was exactly as she’d predicted.
Ji Yunuo was drenched in sweat but refused to leave. She wanted to wait until Xiao Yanjin had performed.
Most of the trainees had already finished their turns, including Jiang Nan and Zeng Heshi.
Xiao Yanjin knew she couldn’t delay any longer and forced herself up. But the moment she stood, a sharp pain shot through her thighs, leaving them numb.
She hissed through gritted teeth, wearing a pained expression as she slowly made her way forward.
The moment Xiao Yanjin stepped onto the stage, all eyes turned to her.
“You got this!” Shi Zhengyi cheered for her.
Xiao Yanjin clenched her jaw, her legs trembling violently as she struggled to move.
Chu Luo scoffed. “It’s just the theme song, and her legs are shaking already.” Her two lackeys chimed in mockingly, “With that kind of nerve, she’ll be eliminated in the first round. She’s way out of her league.”
At first, Xiao Yanjin’s dancing was awkward but passable. But as she went on, her movements grew weaker, as if her limbs had turned to cotton.
Ji Yunuo frowned, sensing something was off about her complexion.
Xiao Yanjin didn’t know what was happening, her chest felt heavier, her limbs weaker. The music around her faded, the faces before her blurred, and then,
Everything went black.
With a thud, Xiao Yanjin collapsed.
When she opened her eyes again, Shi Zhengyi and Jiang Nan were staring at her intently.
Xiao Yanjin’s body felt cold as she weakly said, “Why do you all look like I’m about to die?”
Jiang Nan was on the verge of tears, “You have no idea how shocked we were when you collapsed.”
“Exactly! Luckily someone took you to the infirmary,” Shi Zhengyi clicked his tongue. “The doctor said you overexerted yourself and had low blood sugar, so your body gave out.”
Xiao Yanjin sighed, “What about the theme song evaluation?”
“The producers decided to let you recover first before re-evaluating. But Mentor Wei Ge said your performance wasn’t great anyway, so retaking it wouldn’t help,” Shi Zhengyi replied.
That Wei Ge, Xiao Yanjin gritted her teeth in frustration.
“Wait, who took me there?”
Just as Jiang Nan was about to answer, a knock came at the door.
Shi Zhengyi opened it to find Ji Yunuo standing outside.
“Xiao Yanjin, are you awake?” she asked calmly.
This floor housed all the trainees’ dormitories Omegas, Alphas, and Betas alike so Ji Yunuo had only needed to walk a short distance to reach Xiao Yanjin’s room.
“She’s awake,” Shi Zhengyi said, blinking in surprise before calling to Jiang Nan, “Nan Nan, let’s go get some food for Yanjin.”
“Okay.”
Shi Zhengyi winked at Ji Yunuo. “Since you’re concerned about her, why don’t you go check on her?”
After the two left, Ji Yunuo hesitated for a moment before closing the door behind her.
“Who is it?” Xiao Yanjin was still lying in bed, too weak to sit up. Her body ached as if she had rheumatism.
“I’m sorry.” A quiet, cool voice broke the silence of the room.
Xiao Yanjin thought she’d misheard and struggled to lift herself up.
“Don’t move yet.” Ji Yunuo approached, revealing a face free of makeup yet still as pristine as a lotus.
Xiao Yanjin startled before relaxing. “Oh, it’s you.”
Ji Yunuo frowned. “You’re not happy to see me?”
“I’m just surprised you came to visit, that’s all.”
“I’m sorry,” Ji Yunuo apologized again.
Xiao Yanjin chuckled. “Why are you apologizing to me?”
“I shouldn’t have pushed you so hard these past few days. I just wanted you to catch up quickly, but I didn’t realize your body couldn’t handle the initial training. That was my mistake.”
“Huh?” Xiao Yanjin mustered some strength to lift her head slightly, finally seeing Ji Yunuo’s tightly pressed lips and guilty expression.
Perhaps she had never apologized to anyone before her discomfort was palpable.
Pfft!
Ji Yunuo frowned. “What are you laughing at?”
“I just think it’s funny.”
After mustering the courage to apologize, only to be met with such rudeness, Ji Yunuo clenched her teeth…
Just as she turned to leave, Xiao Yanjin hastily called out to her.
“Nuo-jiejie!”
“What?”
“I didn’t hear your apology clearly. Could you say it again?”
You brat!
“Can you come closer and sit on my bed?” Xiao Yanjin couldn’t sit up, so she exaggerated her pained expression.
Seeing this, Ji Yunuo actually walked over and sat beside her.
The moment she approached, the air seemed to fill with a refreshing, cool fragrance.
“I’m a little thirsty,” Xiao Yanjin said with a sly smile.
“I’ll pour you some water.” Ji Yunuo handed her a cup.
The water hovered just out of reach, making Xiao Yanjin laugh helplessly. “I don’t think I can reach it like this.”
Ji Yunuo let out an “Oh,” clearly inexperienced in caring for others, and awkwardly brought the cup to her lips.
Xiao Yanjin drank slowly, her eyes fixed intently on Ji Yunuo.
Ji Yunuo knew she was watching her and turned her head away in slight embarrassment.
Unexpectedly, water trickled down the corner of her mouth.
Xiao Yanjin let out a coquettish “Aiyo!”
It was as if a little puppy had just been stepped on by its owner.
Ji Yunuo quickly wiped it for her, her delicate, fair fingers brushing haphazardly against Xiao Yanjin’s chin.
Xiao Yanjin noticed her hands carried a faint, cool fragrance, and her skin was smooth to the touch utterly pleasant.
Ji Yunuo pulled out a tissue to wipe her own hands and asked calmly, “Are you okay?”
Xiao Yanjin frowned. “No.”
Suddenly, Xiao Yanjin felt that being paired with this stunning, high-society beauty wasn’t a bad deal at all. Before their inevitable elimination, she intended to take full advantage.
“What’s wrong?”
“My arm is a bit sore. Could you massage it for me?”
Ji Yunuo’s brows furrowed slightly, as if considering something.
“Jiejie~” Xiao Yanjin softened her tone, calling out like an obedient puppy.
“My body aches all over. Is it too much to ask for an arm massage?”
Ji Yunuo gave a quiet “Mm” and actually began massaging her arm.
“How’s the pressure?”
“Could you go a little harder?”
“Like this?”
The slanting sunlight outside the window fell across Ji Yunuo’s profile, perfectly visible to Xiao Yanjin.
The refined, self-serving young miss was actually massaging an alpha, what a stroke of luck for Xiao Yanjin!
Suppressing a laugh, Xiao Yanjin nodded. “Yeah, that feels about right.”
“Wait, no a little lower, please?”
“Ow, ow, ow! Jiejie, be gentler, okay?”
Shi Zhengyi, who had just returned with their food, strolled over leisurely only to freeze in shock at the sounds coming from inside. Xiao Yanjin, you, you’re really something!
Flustered, she hurried away, unwilling to hear any more of that person’s coquettish whining.
“Jiejie, your hands are so pretty, long and slender, and so fair.”
Empty flattery. Ji Yunuo remained completely unmoved.
After a while, Ji Yunuo stood up.
“Jiejie’s massage was amazing. My whole body feels soft and relaxed now.” Xiao Yanjin grinned.
“Actually… even if you apologized, I wouldn’t blame you. In fact, I’d be grateful. Really.” Xiao Yanjin smiled contentedly. “Because I’ve realized you’re actually really nice.”
Ji Yunuo, about to leave, paused at her last words.
“Why would you say that? I’m not nice at all.”
“Huh?”
“Before, when I made you dance nonstop that was purely my own selfish desire. I just wanted to get back at you, to make you suffer through dancing.” Ji Yunuo spoke her mind. She really had wanted to teach the slacking Xiao Yanjin a lesson.
Xiao Yanjin: “…” You’re so mean!!
