Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist - Chapter 43
Xia You never expected she’d walk in on someone doing that.
Just now, just now Li Wei and Zhou Wanwan weren’t they afraid of being caught like that?
Stunned, disheveled, and utterly bewildered, Xia You leaned against the wall, her thoughts in chaotic turmoil. It took her a while before her racing mind finally settled enough for her to realize.
The entire hotel had been booked out by Mantis. There were hardly any random people wandering around.
The lower floors might still have some hotel staff moving about, but this banquet hall level, where valuable jewelry was displayed, had extremely high security. Even the permitted attendants wouldn’t wander around aimlessly, inviting unnecessary trouble.
So the other areas on this floor were truly a ‘blind spot’ perfect for these kinds of shady activities.
Recalling what she had just witnessed, Xia You’s expression twisted with discomfort. She closed her eyes, her face a mix of emotions.
She truly hadn’t expected Li Wei to be this kind of person.
Even though they had grown up together, even though they had known each other for so many years, Xia You still had no idea what Li Wei was really like in private. Whenever they met, Li Wei always put on a polished, composed front warm and cheerful, yet always maintaining a polite distance.
Now, Xia You finally understood that the Li Wei who had returned from abroad genuinely disliked her. It was laughable how she, oblivious to Li Wei’s true nature, had failed to notice anything amiss in her attitude. She had even foolishly believed they were close.
Xia You paused, letting out a self-deprecating laugh as she finally grasped how ridiculous her past self had been.
No wonder Bai Shuixi had always been so dismissive of the feelings she couldn’t bring herself to voice when they first met.
What kind of person had she been pining for all this time? All those years had been wasted, and every sincere emotion she once held had been tainted, when she thought about it now, it even felt a little disgusting.
Standing in the hallway, Xia You felt both disheartened and furious. After a moment of dazed silence, she remembered she was still at the banquet, and someone was waiting for her by the elevator.
Before leaving, she glanced once more in the direction where Li Wei and Zhou Wanwan were hiding, genuinely hesitating.
All she had to do was find some way to lure unrelated people over here, and she could expose Li Wei and Zhou Wanwan’s scandalous behavior to everyone, revealing their true colors.
But if she really did that…
Xia You closed her eyes, unable to push past her own moral reservations.
With her limited imagination constrained by her principles, she couldn’t even begin to picture the fallout of getting involved in something like this.
Xia You clenched her fingers, her chest rising and falling sharply.
She truly wanted Li Wei and Zhou Wanwan to pay for their underhandedness, their arrogance, their ruthlessness but there were some things she just couldn’t bring herself to do.
She couldn’t even figure out how she’d go about calling people over.
After a long silence, Xia You sighed in resignation. With one last complicated look at the spot where Li Wei and Zhou Wanwan were hiding, she averted her eyes, crouched down to put on her high heels, and quickly walked back the way she came.
Her detour had taken a full ten minutes. The waiting attendant didn’t say anything, but someone else was growing impatient.
Bai Ye had long since positioned herself near the suite as instructed, but with Xia You nowhere in sight, she was starting to doubt the accuracy of the intel.
Bai Ye glanced at her watch again, her expression darkening completely, her gaze sharp and intimidating. She pressed her Bluetooth earpiece and coldly asked her subordinate, “Are you certain this is Xia You’s room number?”
“It shouldn’t be wrong. Maybe there’s been some unexpected change,” the subordinate, who had been connected to Bai Ye’s comms the entire time, paused before wisely replying, “I’ll go verify it again right away.”
“…” Bai Ye clenched her eyes shut, taking a deep breath to swallow back a curse.
She really wanted to lash out, but there weren’t many capable people available at the moment. Wasting time on scolding someone might delay more important matters.
Suppressing her temper with difficulty, Bai Ye listened to the silence on the other end of the earpiece, pacing restlessly in agitation. When she turned around again, she suddenly noticed two figures approaching in the distance.
Bai Ye froze for a moment, recognizing the person lagging slightly behind as Xia You.
She stood stunned for a couple of seconds before urgently calling out to her subordinate, who was still occupied with who-knows-what. “Xia You’s already here, and there’s a staff member with her. Hurry! Find a way to get rid of the person following her!”
The subordinate was momentarily taken aback but, long accustomed to Bai Ye’s unpredictability, responded professionally, “Understood!”
Xia You was walking through the indoor garden with the attendant toward the presidential suite when the attendant suddenly stopped, pressing a finger to the earpiece issued by the staff team. His brow furrowed.
Distracted by what she had just witnessed, Xia You didn’t immediately notice his reaction. She looked up and asked, “Is something wrong?”
The attendant lowered his hand, looking somewhat flustered, and bowed slightly. “Miss Xia, if you continue straight ahead, your room will be on the right. Would you mind going the rest of the way alone? Something urgent just came up on my end.”
In truth, a colleague had informed him via earpiece that there was an issue with his assigned duties. The supervisor was already angry, and the manager seemed to be on their way. He had to return immediately to handle it.
Xia You blinked in surprise but quickly replied, “Oh, that’s fine. Just give me the key card.”
“Thank you, Miss Xia,” the attendant exhaled in relief, handing her the card. “Here’s your key. There’s a direct line phone in the living room, available 24/7. If you need anything, just contact the front desk.”
“Got it,” Xia You responded amiably, watching as the attendant hurried off toward the elevator. She glanced down at the key card, sighing absentmindedly.
After what had happened with Li Wei and Zhou Wanwan, she really wasn’t in the mood for anything anymore.
Holding up the hem of her dress, Xia You walked distractedly toward the presidential suite, completely unaware of her surroundings. She had only gone a short distance when someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Startled, she instinctively tried to pull away. “Who’s there?!”
“It’s me, Senior,” the person beside her spoke up. Xia You froze, looking up to see Bai Ye dressed in a staff uniform, her hair tied high in a ponytail, staring straight at her.
Xia You froze for just a moment before immediately wrenching her hand away without hesitation: “What are you trying to do now? We’re inside the Manti Hotel!”
Her voice carried a threatening tone that belied her inner fear as her heart pounded violently.
Because of the banquet, she was carrying only a small clutch with limited space, none of her usual self-defense gadgets could fit inside. This was probably when she was most vulnerable.
She truly hadn’t expected Bai Ye to somehow sneak in here!
“How did you even get in?” Xia You took a few steps back, warily eyeing Bai Ye while subtly slipping her hand into her bag to grip her phone, ready to call for help at any moment.
“Shh!” Bai Ye pressed a finger to her lips, quickly glancing around before lowering her voice. “Don’t be scared. I’m here to take you away.”
“Take me away?” Xia You’s eyes widened in shock. “Have you lost your mind?”
Bai Ye clenched her teeth. The moment she saw Xia You, a fire seemed to ignite inside her. The descriptions of banned drugs and the suggestive images of adult toys she had seen earlier still flickered in her mind. In her eyes, Xia You had transformed from a gentle, warm older sister someone she could only occasionally get close to into a woman she could kiss, bite, and pin down on the bed to ravish over and over.
If Bai Shuixi could have her, why couldn’t she?
Bai Ye stepped forward and seized Xia You’s arm, her gaze burning like venomous flames as she stared straight at her. “Who’s really the crazy one here? You were the one who insisted on staying by Bai Shuixi’s side, do you regret it now? The way she treats you, is she really any better than me?”
“What are you talking about?” Xia You instinctively tried to break free from Bai Ye’s grip but failed, so she could only glare at her angrily. “What nonsense are you spouting? What ‘way’? What has she done?”
Bai Ye paused, narrowing her eyes. After some twisted reasoning, she suddenly arrived at a bizarre conclusion. Staring at Xia You, she slowly said:
“What you don’t even think she’s gone too far? Or do you actually enjoy it when she treats you like that? Do you like her that much or is it that you just enjoy playing those kinds of games? I never would’ve guessed. If I’d known sooner.”
“…” Xia You had no idea what she was talking about anymore and simply struggled again. “Let go, or I’ll scream for help!”
Instead of releasing her, Bai Ye tightened her grip, her fingers unconsciously digging into the soft flesh of Xia You’s slender arm. Almost as if possessed, she murmured, “If you like it rough, if you like using toys. I can play along too. Why insist on Bai Shuixi? At least I wouldn’t use banned drugs on you?”
Before she could finish, Xia You slapped her hard across the face.
The sharp crack echoed loudly through the empty hotel hallway. Xia You was trembling with rage, her chest heaving as she struggled to breathe evenly.
It had been a long time since she’d seen Li Wei, and she never expected their reunion would reveal such a repulsive side of her, more shocking than when she had tried to exploit her for profit before. And now Bai Ye, whom she hadn’t seen in ages, was spewing disgusting words, crossing the line into outright sexual harassment with both her actions and speech.
Xia You’s eyes burned with unshed tears, her vision blurring as they welled up.
She slapped Bai Ye but still felt unsatisfied. Taking advantage of Bai Ye’s momentary daze, she yanked her arm back and viciously kicked Bai Ye’s shin with her high-heeled shoe: “You bastard!”
The kick had an immediate effect, Bai Ye gasped sharply and bent over to clutch her injured leg.
Seeing Bai Ye distracted, Xia You immediately turned and sprinted toward her room. She had already noted earlier that her suite wasn’t too far away just the right distance. If Bai Ye’s leg was in pain, there was no way she could catch up.
Holding up her dress, Xia You swiped her keycard at the door and slipped inside just in time.
Bai Ye was half a second too late. Frustrated, she smacked the door in annoyance. Before she could think of another way to lure Xia You out, her earpiece crackled with a subordinate’s voice: “Miss, the commotion seems to have alerted hotel staff. Someone’s heading your way.”
What?
Bai Ye frowned. She didn’t dare cause a scene in front of the hotel employees. With one last resentful glance at Xia You’s door, she turned and strode swiftly in the opposite direction.
“So she’s really gone?”
In the dazzlingly lit banquet hall, elegantly dressed men and women mingled. Bai Shuixi sat in a secluded corner of the lounge area, idly swirling her champagne glass as her gaze swept over the lively crowd. She distractedly asked He Jiu beside her, “Any updates?”
Had Xia You been there, she might have noticed Bai Shuixi’s most trusted team gathered in full force. He Jiu and several rarely seen secretaries were all present, reporting their findings.
But Xia You wasn’t there. She was still holed up in her suite, shaken. As for everyone else, even if they noticed Bai Shuixi’s unusually complete entourage, they wouldn’t think much of it after all, the wealthy elite never spared expense when it came to appearances. Extravagance was hardly surprising.
After the small auction Xia You had missed, the Mantie gala transitioned into a social hour. Celebrities and tycoons shared tables, exchanging pleasantries before mingling freely with acquaintances or those who piqued their interest.
Seated at Bai Shuixi’s table was Mantie’s global ambassador someone Xin Wen Sheng had mentioned as an old acquaintance. Out of courtesy to this quasi-“elder,” Bai Shuixi had made a sizable purchase earlier before retreating from the lively crowd to this quiet corner.
“She’s gone,” He Jiu murmured, updating Bai Shuixi on the situation. “Mr. Liu’s team summoned hotel staff to drive Bai Ye away. He personally ensured Miss Xia escaped unharmed. Oh, and Miss Xia also slapped Bai Ye.”
Bai Shuixi paused mid-sip, surprised. “She hit her?”
“Yes,” He Jiu replied, equally impressed by Xia You’s quick thinking both the slap and the kick before fleeing. “A slap first, then a kick.”
Bai Shuixi frowned thoughtfully before turning away with a quiet, “Huh…”
She hadn’t expected Xia You to fight back.
She had always known Xia You had a bit of a temper. When they first met, Xia You had been quite guarded against her, but overall, she was still easy to bully too principled for her own good, with a soft personality. So Xia You could be assertive too?
Bai Shuixi recalled how Xia You had joined forces with others in the original story to meticulously scheme the original host’s demise and suddenly realized there had been signs all along.
Taking a sip of champagne, Bai Shuixi briefly felt relieved that she wasn’t as shameless as the original host.
“One more thing, Miss Xia encountered Mr. Li of Rixin Entertainment and Miss Zhou Wanwan on her way out. They spoke for about fifteen minutes,” He Jiu added quietly.
“Hmm?” Bai Shuixi snapped out of her thoughts, indifferent to whatever was between those two. “What were they plotting this time?”
“Well they…” He Jiu hesitated, struggling to phrase it. “They were engaged in that sort of activity when Miss Xia accidentally walked in on them, so she stayed for a while.”
“Oh.” Bai Shuixi fell silent for a couple of seconds before responding flatly, “Xia You doesn’t seem like the type to eavesdrop on such things. What happened?”
“Apparently, they mentioned you in their conversation,” He Jiu answered in an even lower voice.
“…” Bai Shuixi frowned, giving He Jiu a disgusted look. “You heard that right?”
What were those two doing bringing her up while having sex? Using her as some kind of sick turn-on?
The thought of being part of their twisted play irritated her so much she almost wanted to march over and pull them apart, telling them to focus on their damn positions and keep their mouths shut.
“It’s true,” He Jiu whispered even softer. “It seems Li Wei was discussing plans with Miss Zhou. She wants Zhou Wanwan to win your favor to leverage your connections.”
“…”
Bai Shuixi froze for a moment, swirling her glass as she processed the information.
So Li Wei, a woman skilled at riding coattails was sleeping with Zhou Wanwan, who was currently Song Zhe’s mistress, while scheming to have Zhou seduce her?
Now that was a new low, even for a bedroom farce.
“She’s got some nerve,” Bai Shuixi remarked dryly. “Leave those two for now. What about Bai Ye?”
“She seems to have given up,” He Jiu said, lifting her head again. “She’s withdrawn her people, and she’s moved to the outer event area.”
“Would she really give up that easily?” Bai Shuixi mused before suddenly saying, “Tell Mr. Liu from Dun’an Security to keep an eye on the parking lot and hotel exits with his team. Bai Ye wouldn’t back down so easily after finally making a move. Though it’s lucky she did. If she hadn’t been so rash, gathering evidence would’ve been harder. Are all the necessary materials prepared?”
“Everything’s been compiled,” He Jiu replied promptly. “We’ve documented all those involved in Bai Ye’s scheme this time. As for Mr. Liu’s team negotiating with Mantis, we’ve entrusted reliable sources to trace their exact origins.”
Bai Shuixi nodded. “Release it along with what we’ve gathered before. Oh, and arrange to leave Bai Ye an opening. It’s rare to get such an opportunity, let’s not disappoint her too much.”
He Jiu paused. “You mean.?”
Bai Shuixi pondered for a moment: “Arrange another car. Just say something came up last minute and I can’t return with Xia You. Have it arranged at that villa in the suburbs.”
Her instructions weren’t completely clear, but He Jiu understood perfectly and nodded before turning to carry out the orders.
“Wait one more moment.”
Just as He Jiu stood up to leave, Bai Shuixi suddenly called her back and asked thoughtfully:
“What was Xia You’s reaction when she saw Li Wei with Zhou Wanwan?”
He Jiu paused, struggling slightly to recall before answering: “She seemed quite shocked. Stayed quiet by herself for a long time, but left without saying anything.”
Is that so…
Bai Shuixi lowered her eyes slightly and leaned back into the sofa again.
So, Xia You still couldn’t bring herself to be ruthless with Li Wei?
