Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist - Chapter 34
Bai Shuixi didn’t catch Xia You’s murmured words, only managing to notice the warmth of her body.
Pulled down by Xia You, she leaned in until their breaths mingled. The tearful Omega willingly pressed her lips forward, and Bai Shuixi instinctively lowered her head to meet them.
She did like Xia You otherwise, she wouldn’t have brought up the idea of sleeping together, nor would she have noticed Xia You’s appearance the first time they met.
But whether it was genuine desire or not, Bai Shuixi could still tell the difference.
She kissed Xia You, one hand resting lightly on the small of her back, massaging gently without pushing further, maintaining an ambiguous, feverish distance.
Only when she heard Xia You’s soft whimper did Bai Shuixi finally pull away with a faint smile, her usually indifferent eyes glinting with amusement as she studied Xia You. “Jiejie, are you… regretting it now and trying to shut me up?”
Bai Shuixi was certain their intimacy had been consensual, with no coercion involved. But now that Xia You had regained her senses, Bai Shuixi felt the situation had grown more unpredictable.
What if Xia You realized that, back in the dressing room, it had technically been her who initiated things?
And their relationship was only harmonious on the surface.
Who was truly walking on thin ice, both of them knew it well.
The matter with Li Wei hadn’t been fully resolved yet, and whether Zhou Wanwan had deliberately harmed Xia You remained unclear. What if Xia You still had lingering attachments or thought their current dynamic was wrong?
After all, Xia You had initially stayed by her side for Li Wei’s sake, and later, their connection had been tangled with mutual interests. Their bond wasn’t exactly solid.
Besides, Li Wei only seemed down for the count.
As the female lead’s childhood friend and the original love interest, she had to have some plot armor to last until the end.
The thought of Li Wei inevitably brought Bai Shuixi back to the original novel’s plot, and she couldn’t help but click her tongue in irritation.
Subconsciously, she didn’t include herself in the story’s ending, believing that Xia You’s best outcome would be to thrive independently. As for herself… if she could survive under the system’s surveillance until the mission ended without being deemed a failure, she’d probably just return to her original world.
Thinking about her life before transmigrating, Bai Shuixi’s mood soured, her eyes drooping listlessly.
Xia You watched her shifting expressions, opening her mouth several times to ask something but swallowing the words each time. In the end, she simply reached out, hooking a finger under Bai Shuixi’s chin to lift the gloomy girl’s face.
“Earlier, you asked if I wanted to sleep with you… but what about you? Do you want to?”
Bai Shuixi looked at her, not quite understanding why Xia You was so fixated on whether she ‘wanted’ or ‘liked’ her.
She was the villain, of course she coveted the female lead.
So she leaned in naturally, pressing a kiss to Xia You’s lips before murmuring affectionately, “Of course I do. Haven’t I always?”
Again… Xia You’s eyes dimmed the moment she heard Bai Shuixi’s answer.
It was always like this.
At some point, Xia You had started to feel that Bai Shuixi’s affection for her was baseless.
Every intimate moment carried a playful flippancy, and even when rejected, Bai Shuixi never got angry… or even upset.
It was as if… even if she never wanted to get close to her, even if she could never like her, it wouldn’t matter at all.
At first, Xia You thought this was because Bai Shuixi didn’t actually like her that she was just using the pretense of affection to humiliate her, to once again witness her flustered and helpless state in the office.
But Bai Shuixi never forced her into anything.
Though her words were sharp and flirtatious, and her actions occasionally crossed boundaries, she never truly overstepped Xia You’s limits. In fact, she was almost indulgent toward her giving her opportunities, giving her space, letting her investigate the things she wanted to know, exposing the true nature of the ill-intentioned scoundrels around her…
But why would Bai Shuixi do all this?
Xia You’s fingers lightly clenched the edge of the blanket. The more she recalled Bai Shuixi’s kindness, the more she couldn’t help but wonder if Bai Shuixi’s interest in her was just a fleeting whim something that would fade once she got what she wanted.
“…What do you think our relationship is now… ah, ouch…”
Xia You winced slightly in pain, tilting her head and covering her ear.
Bai Shuixi glanced at her from the corner of her eye, retracting her mischievous canine teeth and releasing Xia You’s soft earlobe. Her tone carried a mix of feigned and genuine displeasure: “…What are you thinking about that you’re ignoring me?”
Xia You stared at her blankly for a moment, unable to respond immediately.
Bai Shuixi studied Xia You’s expression for a while before the smile on her face faded slightly. Her lashes lowered, concealing a trace of cool detachment in her gaze.
Xia You really was distracted… So she was regretting it after all?
Though this was something she had anticipated, it didn’t make her any less irritated.
For a moment, Bai Shuixi found herself empathizing with the original owner of this body. A wicked thought rose in her mind as her hand slid downward, cupping the softness there and giving it a light squeeze. Her tone was far from gentle when she spoke: “If you’re thinking about someone else right now, I might just get angry.”
Xia You gasped, her neck arching slightly on instinct as she grasped Bai Shuixi’s wrist.
Finally snapping out of her daze, Xia You stammered, ” I wasn’t. I was just thinking about… what kind of relationship we have now.”
Bai Shuixi frowned slightly.
So she was having second thoughts already?
They hadn’t even left the bed yet, she’d barely given her a moment to rest and she was already overthinking things?
Bai Shuixi’s expression grew indifferent. She had no interest in discussing this topic, so she simply buried her face against Xia You’s neck instead, her tone unconsciously resistant: “What do you think our relationship is?”
“……”
Xia You stiffened for a moment before lowering her eyes slightly.
Something about Bai Shuix
“Of course, whatever you say, I’ll listen to you. But since I’m being so cooperative, shouldn’t you give me some benefits too?”
After their intimate encounter, Bai Shuixi’s attitude had clearly become more brazen.
In the darkness of the night, time slipped away unnoticed.
…
The next morning, Bai Shuixi woke first. Propping herself up, she gazed at Xia You’s sleeping face for a while before getting up to change.
The walk-in closet was a mess at least in the eyes of someone as fastidious as Bai Shuixi. In reality, it was only slightly untidy, with a few clothes and accessories strewn about. When she had gotten out of bed earlier, she had even stepped on one of the decorative gemstones from Xia You’s dress. It was a shame, but Bai Shuixi couldn’t be bothered to pick it up.
Still, she’d have to tidy the room later, she didn’t want Xia You to feel embarrassed when she saw it.
With an indifferent expression, Bai Shuixi pulled out a black casual outfit, but halfway through, irritation got the better of her. She hung it back up and instead chose a strappy dress more in line with her original persona, draping a relaxed blazer over it. She deliberately left the marks on her neck and chest exposed to the open air.
She wanted Xia You to see them.
Sure, she had been the one to initiate things last night, but Xia You had agreed, hadn’t she?
And when she’d later suggested they “do this occasionally,” Xia You hadn’t objected either.
Damn it, the female lead was clearly even more skilled than she was.
Frowning, Bai Shuixi strode out of the closet into the living room, her displeasure evident. She briskly scheduled a housekeeping service, then suppressed her simmering frustration as she checked in with He Jiu about the progress on Fang Shangzhe. He Jiu responded quickly.
He Jiu: We’ve already found some leads. It’s going surprisingly smoothly.
X: Is that so?
He Jiu promptly sent over a series of files, which Bai Shuixi opened one by one.
The documents revealed that He Jiu’s team had already traced Fang Shangzhe’s origins to a small coastal town in the south. Many of his family elders had criminal records, they were all local troublemakers.
Fang Shangzhe’s father had died during his teenage years, and Fang himself had gotten into a feud that left him saddled with loan shark debts. Unable to repay, he had fled the town in disgrace. Later, relying on a mix of cunning and decent looks, he had clawed his way up, even using his earnings for minor cosmetic adjustments and a name change.
Before meeting Shen Yanxin, Fang Shangzhe had only just left his previous sugar daddy six months prior. His so-called “private detective” persona had been a gimmick to please that former patron. Shen Yanxin, being an alpha herself, had little interest in him, so Fang had quickly moved on to Zhou Wanwan.
Not that Zhou Wanwan was particularly fond of men either, she just needed someone to handle the “dirty work” she couldn’t do herself.
Bai Shuixi immediately called He Jiu. “I’ve gone through the files you just sent. Can we still track down those loan sharks?”
“That’s still under investigation,” He Jiu’s calm voice came through the phone. “Time is tight, so we’ve only managed to sketch out a rough outline. This guy doesn’t operate cleanly, he’s made plenty of enemies.”
Bai Shuixi let out a cold chuckle.
Just from the way he had worked for Zhou Wanwan while still sneaking around to approach Xia You, it was clear he had no sense of boundaries. Sooner or later, he was bound to crash and burn.
“No rush,” Bai Shuixi lowered her gaze and flipped through the documents. “It’s not like we need Fang Shangzhe to crash and burn tomorrow, we still have time. With the current scrutiny, a loan shark company from nearly a decade ago would have either shut down or rebranded by now. It won’t just be sitting there unchanged. If we really can’t find anything… then we’ll start with his problematic relatives back in his hometown.”
Every single one of them had a criminal record, and they’d let Fang Shangzhe escape from his hometown unscathed. None of them were pushovers.
Since Fang Shangzhe was holding onto the evidence she wanted, he shouldn’t blame her for playing dirty.
“Understood, I’ll arrange it right away,” He Jiu replied promptly before hanging up.
After ending the call, Bai Shuixi rested one hand on the bar counter, frowning as she mulled over a few strategies. Just as she was about to assign someone to execute them, she suddenly felt a wave of boredom.
Why was she bothering with all this effort?
If she just acted harshly toward the Omega in the bedroom and did whatever she wanted to her, not only would she vent her anger, but she’d also regain a healthy body.
A risk-free, high-reward deal, why wouldn’t she take it? Even during her past life as a leisurely board member, she’d never encountered such a profitable bargain.
Tossing her phone aside, Bai Shuixi stood up and headed toward the bedroom. She picked up an earring that had fallen near the doorway before pulling the door open.
She was still brooding over last night’s events, but she hadn’t expected to be met with a pair of slowly blinking, slightly dazed eyes the moment she stepped inside.
Bai Shuixi froze. Her fingers unconsciously rubbed the warmed jade of the earring she was holding as she instinctively asked, “Awake? Do you want something to eat?”
