“That’s the financial report for this quarter. The company’s previous key project exceeded expected returns and concluded perfectly. The next major project in planning is Teacher Wei Heng’s original screenplay ‘Retrospect.’ The market research report and project analysis have been sent to your inbox. Currently, Director Lin Zhengfeng is slated to helm the project.”

Xu Chuan’s voice was as smooth as flowing water, calm and rational, her words clear and well-structured.

As she spoke, she lowered her gaze to the report in front of her, effortlessly controlling the atmosphere in the meeting room on the other side of the screen. Her delicate, somewhat plain face took on a unique charm thanks to her commanding competence.

Xia You, standing slightly behind Bai Shuixi, stole a glance.

Bai Shuixi remained seated at the wooden dining table in the living room, dressed the same as during breakfast, except now she wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses. Her lips were pale, and her complexion had always been somewhat wan, giving her an air of refined elegance that effortlessly matched Xu Chuan’s presence.

Keeping up effortlessly with Xu Chuan’s report, Bai Shuixi responded in a detached, rational tone: “I’ve reviewed the report. The investment breakdown shows Song’s Tianhe Group is also involved?”

Xu Chuan seemed slightly taken aback by Bai Shuixi’s question, pausing briefly before replying, “Yes, Song Zhe, President Song, is the primary investor who facilitated this project. The director and funding agreements have already been signed, and we’re now preparing to enter the casting phase.”

“Hmm.” Bai Shuixi switched screens to glance once more at the downloaded email attachment.

If her analysis was correct, this had to be the project.

She remembered that in the original story, Zhou Wanwan had also starred in a film, which meant Li Wei frequently appeared on set due to her job. And coincidentally, this was a project under the original owner’s company.

Probably to torment Xia You, the original owner would deliberately bring Xia You to the set from time to time, acting intimately with her in front of Li Wei, making Xia You’s heartache grow worse.

Hmm. This was likely another part of the emotional and physical torment.

Bai Shuixi skimmed the last line of text before casually closing the attachment. “Are you personally overseeing this project?”

The abrupt pause was jarring, drawing the attention of everyone in the meeting room toward the vice president.

Bai Shuixi lowered her hand and looked back at Xu Chuan. “What’s wrong?”

The professional and efficient beta in the video paused briefly before speaking in a softer tone, “How has your health been lately?”

Is this hoping for health problems already? Bai Shuixi didn’t understand Xu Chuan’s urgency, but since she hadn’t completed the storyline yet, she couldn’t possibly relax her management of the company.

“Quite well,” Bai Shuixi replied.

“That’s good.” Xu Chuan gave Bai Shuixi a deep look before continuing with the report.

When the meeting concluded, Bai Shuixi ended the call without hesitation, preparing to torment the female lead both physically and mentally. After logging out of most work applications, she glanced at Xia You: “How much of that meeting did you understand?”

Xia You froze, as if suddenly called upon for a pop quiz: “Um! I managed to note down the production and promotion process for TV dramas, plus the collaborators from our last project.”

“Hmm.” Bai Shuixi acknowledged.

It was understandable that Xia You, not being from the finance sector or entertainment industry, couldn’t grasp the financial reports. Remembering this much was already commendable.

“This industry changes rapidly. If you truly want to understand what Li Wei does, you’ll need to learn properly by following company operations.” Bai Shuixi reminded Xia You again not to forget her original motivation for staying by her side.

Otherwise she might run away when the torment begins.

And Bai Shuixi couldn’t be bothered to chase after her.

“Okay!.” Xia You looked at Bai Shuixi, pressing her lips together as if wanting to say something.

“What is it?” Bai Shuixi glanced at her.

“Uh,” Xia You hesitated briefly before saying, “Nothing.”

“Speak your mind. I dislike concealment,” Bai Shuixi turned toward her laptop to reply to an assistant’s message while adding casually, “And my tolerance threshold for your words should be quite high.”

After all, she was the female lead. Couldn’t let her get spoiled before the proper storyline.

“No, really nothing.” Xia You grew slightly flustered at Bai Shuixi’s words and quickly denied.

She was genuinely just wondering what kind of alpha Bai Shuixi really was.So cold and indifferent, yet insistently clinging to her.

Managing an entire company at such a young age, handling numerous tasks while appearing utterly relaxed, constantly appearing by her side while accurately pinpointing her concerns.

Xia You watched Bai Shuixi frown slightly at some document, recalling her troubling psychological state.

If Bai Shuixi were just an ordinary patient, she’d be happy to offer help.

Unfortunately,  “If you’re free, don’t just space out,” Bai Shuixi said without looking up from her documents, as if she had eyes on the back of her head. “I have shopping plans today. If you’re idle, start screening stores and arranging the itinerary.”

Xia You blinked: “Stores?”

Bai Shuixi turned to look at Xia You, her thick-lashed, impassive eyes gazing straight into Xia You’s soul: “I’m a SVIP at all luxury boutiques in City G. Just pick whatever you like. Remember to inform them in advance that we won’t need store clearances this time. I want to see the latest seasonal collections, and jewelry too. Go ahead and start screening. Ask He Jiu if you need help.”

Xia You hesitated, glanced at the now-working Bai Shuixi, then retreated awkwardly to the living room. After some deliberation, she finally called He Jiu.

She wasn’t very familiar with luxury goods.

On the other end of the line, He Jiu instantly understood Xia You’s request, it had to be the HV store on Mingcui Road!

The boss had just asked him to look into Zhou Wanwan’s whereabouts.

Though he wasn’t entirely clear on the details, He Jiu immediately guessed: the boss wanted to “coincidentally” run into Zhou Wanwan, and she didn’t want Xia You to see through it!

So, pretending to be completely unaware, He Jiu pondered for a moment: “In that case, the HV store on Mingcui Road would actually be the best fit. The boss uses HV accessories most often, and they’ve just released a few retro-style autumn handbags. Their high-end jewelry line has always been consistent exactly the kind the boss likes.”

“Alright, got it,” Xia You said without suspicion, jotting down the details. “I’ll call the driver then. Thanks for today.”

“No problem, it’s nothing,” He Jiu replied amiably.

Xia You hung up and turned around just in time to see Bai Shuixi stand up and walk toward her.

“Finished your call?” Bai Shuixi’s proportions were exceptional even among alphas tall with long legs, making for a pleasing sight as she approached from a distance.

“Yeah, all done,” Xia You averted her gaze. “The driver said they’ll be here in about twenty minutes.”

Bai Shuixi tilted her head slightly, studying Xia You’s expression before subtly looking away. “Mm, then I’ll go change.”

Entering the original owner’s walk-in closet, Bai Shuixi began deliberating over what to wear.

Did Xia You like flashy outfits?

Her eyes swept over the racks of eccentric clothing, leaving her momentarily speechless. She pulled out her phone and searched for keywords, only to be startled by the flood of risqué images.

It didn’t have to be that extreme.

After some thought, Bai Shuixi settled on a silk blouse, paired it with well-tailored trousers, and cinched the waist with a gemstone belt.

If there was anything in this emotionally detached world that could still catch Bai Shuixi’s attention, it was probably gemstones.

Maybe cold people just liked cold things.

This outfit wasn’t particularly bold, but at least it wasn’t plain.

When Bai Shuixi stepped out, she clearly caught a flicker of surprise in Xia You’s eyes apparently, her choice had some effect.

Compared to her, that Omega looked effortlessly harmonious no matter what she wore, always exuding a gentle sweetness like a ripe peach, as if a single poke would release its luscious nectar.

“What?” Xia You asked.

“Nothing,” Bai Shuixi averted her gaze. “Let’s go.”
