Forced to Live Together After Picking Up the Child of My Rival Alpha - Chapter 8.2
A stream of comments scrolled wildly across the screen as usual:
[Yu Jin I Can’t Take It #: No, no! This isn’t the outcome I wanted to see.]
[The Ultimate Lover of Yuan Yuan: Yay! My Yuan Yuan is stunningly beautiful, captivating both Alphas and Omegas!]
[The Fan Who Loves Eating Fujianese: Wow! I’m totally shipping them, and little Luoluo is like a soft ball! I wanna jump into the screen and hug her!!!]
[My Beloved Yu Yu: Oh my gosh, what kind of team does Song Yuan have behind her? All these years she’s been reckless without any scandals, and now she’s getting close to my Yu Yu!]
[@Yu Jin’s Yu: Sis, get a grip. Shipping everyone will only lead to trouble.]
While Song Yuan charged ahead, Luo Wei monitored public opinion in the background, handling any news unfavorable to Song Yuan.
In contrast, Yu Jin paid no attention to the gossip and news.
The trio didn’t return with a full haul after all, a hundred yuan could only buy so much.
But with Yu Jin and Song Yuan each holding one of Luoluo’s hands and carrying groceries in the other, they made a heartwarming scene as they returned to the courtyard.
Song Yuan pulled out the daylilies, which needed washing and trimming.
Yu Jin naturally went to fetch water while Song Yuan soaked the daylilies. She then placed a small stool under Luoluo, intending to enhance the child’s hands-on skills.
“Luoluo, watch closely.”
Song Yuan’s slender, elegant hands lifted a large daylily from the water. She first rubbed off the mud clinging to the roots, then pressed her fingers against the outer tough skin and deftly peeled it off.
Luoluo nodded, imitating the adults, rolled up her tiny sleeves, and got to work.
After returning from buying groceries, Yu Jin seemed much calmer, so the three of them gathered around a small basin to pick vegetables.
There was little conversation, but the three of them worked together with seamless coordination.
As evening approached, the sky gradually darkened, and the chirping of cicadas on the treetops grew louder. The dim yellow light overhead cast a soft glow, while a gentle breeze brushed by, enhancing the sense of happiness in this household.
Later, the production team couldn’t resist adding a frame effect to this scene.
【A Happy Family】
By the time they finished picking the vegetables, it was almost six o’clock. Yu Jin started cooking the rice, while Song Yuan began preparing the ingredients.
It was only after cutting the fish that she realized they hadn’t bought any ginger. However, the market was an hour’s round trip away.
She had no choice but to ask Yu Jin, who was nearby, “We’re making steamed sea bass, but we’re missing some ginger.”
Yu Jin nodded upon hearing this and turned to leave.
Just then, Wei Yang and Jian Xi, along with their family, returned.
Wei Yang was carrying a bag of items, panting heavily.
“A Yuan, I have ginger here.”
Thinking it wouldn’t be right to make Yu Jin travel all that way just for a piece of ginger, Song Yuan hurried to the door and called out to Yu Jin’s retreating figure. Yu Jin turned back, puzzled.
She saw Song Yuan beaming with a smile, waving her over, “Come back, no need to go. Wei Yang has ginger here.”
Song Yuan politely nodded her thanks to Wei Yang.
As Wei Yang handed over the ginger, her fingers unavoidably brushed against Song Yuan’s palm. Wei Yang’s fingertips instinctively retracted slightly, and a blush spread across her cheeks. From a distance, she looked like a lovesick girl feeling shy in front of the person she admired.
Yu Jin turned back and took in the scene. She said nothing, her expression slightly darkened as she carried Luo Luo farther away.
Song Yuan was confused.
She thought it might be best not to provoke Yu Jin’s anger these days, mainly because she couldn’t decipher the meaning behind her subtle expressions.
As she placed the fish in the steamer, Song Yuan shook her head and sighed.
Life as a worker in the entertainment industry is tough.
The kitchen had four stoves, each positioned in a corner. Wei Yang and Ma Tianmeng were on the other side, discussing how to cook the chicken to make it delicious.
Wei Yang and Jian Xi’s group had also bought fish and planned to steam it.
Jian Xi was completely clueless about handling the fish, so Wei Yang moved to stand behind Song Yuan.
“A Yuan, could you teach me how to prepare the fish?”
Jian Xi, standing behind her, frowned. She remembered Wei Yang saying earlier that she knew how to cook fish, which was why they had bought it.
Due to the rumors in recent years, Song Yuan had developed a slight fear of getting close to Omegas. Wei Yang’s sudden appearance behind her made her feel physically uncomfortable.
But she had just put her own fish in the steamer and couldn’t say she didn’t know how or refuse to teach.
She glanced behind Wei Yang and smiled, “What kind of fish did you get? To be honest, I’m not an expert, I just make it edible.”
Wei Yang handed the fish and some seasonings to Song Yuan, “It’s sea bass, too.”
Song Yuan took them. Was she expected to teach hands-on?
Internally, Song Yuan refused, so she opted for a compromise: she would simply prepare the fish for them.
That way, she could avoid unnecessary contact with Wei Yang during the teaching process.
Song Yuan showcased her skills, deftly mixing all the seasonings and carefully placing the fish in the steamer before covering it.
Wei Yang couldn’t help but praise her repeatedly, “A Yuan, I had no idea you’re not only excellent at acting and work but also so skilled at cooking in daily life.”
Song Yuan felt a bit overwhelmed by the compliments and could only respond with an awkward smile, “It’s just home-style cooking.”
The production team didn’t dare add any romantic sparkles to their interaction.
One reason was that Jian Xi was standing behind Wei Yang, watching intently.
Another reason was that Sister Yu Jin, during her break, came to check the camera feed and happened to switch to the kitchen scene.
The production crew member felt the atmosphere growing increasingly tense, breaking out in a cold sweat.
The bizarre and unusual scene sparked heated discussions online.
【@WorriedMyHeart: That wicked woman Song Yuan! She’s trying to seduce our dear Wei Yang!】
【YuanYuan’sOfficial: Are you out of your mind? Look who’s the one clinging to whom!】
【TomatoLovingTomato: If I were Song Yuan, I wouldn’t even close the door when showering. The way she handled that fish was so seductive, I’m officially a fan now!】
【HeartSwayedByYang: Our Wei Yang was just asking how to cook the fish, and Song Yuan went ahead and did everything. What’s wrong with her? Is she here to show off her cooking skills?】
【FujianeseWhoLovesCantonese: Am I the only one who noticed Jian Xi’s face turning green?】
【KissMyDream: Hahahaha, don’t even mention it, seriously, don’t.】
The comments section was buzzing with lively discussions about the three families.
By then, Yu Jin and Jian Xi had finished setting up the dinner area, while Song Yuan, Wei Yang, and Yueyue brought the dishes to the table one by one.
The three families gradually took their seats and began chattering about how to earn money the next day.
Luoluo sat to one side, and Bella, being an affectionate little girl, insisted on sitting right next to her.
Dian Dian was also inexplicably drawn to Luoluo and clamored to play with her.
Song Yuan discreetly observed Luoluo’s expression.
Relieved to see nothing out of the ordinary, she felt a sense of comfort. Luoluo was visibly improving day by day, and it might soon be time to take her back to the doctor for a follow-up.
Lost in these thoughts, she was startled when a bowl of rice was handed to her.
Following the hand holding the bowl, she looked up and saw Yu Jin.
Yu Jin was serving her rice?
Her body reacted faster than her mind, and she immediately waved her hands. “No, no, thank you, I can help myself.”
Song Yuan instinctively shifted slightly away.
Yu Jin rarely offered to serve others, and it was almost unheard of for her to be refused.
Hearing this, Yu Jin silently withdrew her hand, her thoughts unreadable.
Song Yuan felt an inexplicable chill had she just angered Yu Jin?
Then again, Yu Jin’s emotions were always hard to gauge. She decided to let it be, as long as she didn’t offend her further.
With that thought, she subtly shifted her position a little farther from Yu Jin.
The meal left Song Yuan feeling utterly exhausted. Back in the suite arranged by the production team, in the children’s room, Luoluo was overjoyed. The cozy little room had both her mom and mama something she had always longed for.
Curled up on the cloud-soft bed, Luoluo tugged at Song Yuan’s hand. “Mom, I want to hear the story you started telling me the day before yesterday. You didn’t finish it.”
Yu Jin gently stroked Luoluo’s head, her expression soft. “Then Mama will go. Goodnight, Luoluo.”
“No, don’t go, don’t go!” Luoluo held onto Song Yuan with one hand and immediately grabbed Yu Jin’s sleeve with the other.
The two adults exchanged a glance but ultimately yielded to Luoluo’s insistence.
Under the warm glow of a single reading lamp, Song Yuan’s voice was tender as she told Luoluo the story of the Three Little Pigs.
By the end, Luoluo was drifting in and out of sleep, murmuring, “So the little pig must be hardworking.”
The scene amused Song Yuan. Her peach-blossom eyes were captivating those loved by her, like Luoluo, must be truly happy.
Yu Jin thought to herself, feeling relieved for Luoluo, yet her heart ached even more.
Until Luoluo was completely asleep.
The atmosphere suddenly turned eerie and awkward. Song Yuan could feel Yu Jin’s intense gaze fixed on her.
Recalling the events of the day, she thought, Forget it, I’d better not annoy Yu Jin any further.
“I’m leaving,” Song Yuan said abruptly before hurrying out of the room.
Yu Jin watched her leave, her thoughts in turmoil. Does she dislike me that much?
Unwilling to say even one more word to me?
Yu Jin remembered many sides of Song Yuan her patience when facing Wei Yang, her tenderness and affection when caring for Luoluo.
But when it came to her, Song Yuan wore an expression of sheer avoidance, as if she couldn’t wait to get away.
Ever since that night five years ago, the memory had been like a needle buried deep in her heart. With every pulse of blood, it would prick her chest from time to time.
Late at night, Yu Jin’s dreams were filled with fragmented, shameful scenes of her and Song Yuan.
Startled awake, Yu Jin broke out in a cold sweat, only to realize the discomfort wasn’t confined to her dreams. In reality, the sheets were soaked through, and she lay feverishly on the bed, her breathing heavy, cheeks flushed crimson.
The rich, overpowering scent of pheromones once again spread uncontrollably throughout the room.
Because it was a suite, Song Yuan was right across from Yu Jin. The intense pheromones quickly permeated and drifted into Song Yuan’s room.
