- You Smell So Good! After Reuniting, My Ex-Boyfriend Forcefully Took Me Back
- Chapter 9 - Indigestion
Perhaps it was the phone call from Wang Sufang earlier that day that had stirred up Fang Zhiyou’s old heartaches.
He spent the entire day in a daze. Fortunately, business at the flower shop was slow, with only two or three customers stopping by to browse before leaving without buying anything.
Around 7:00 PM, Fang Zhiyou closed up shop early and rode his electric scooter home.
When he arrived at Grandma Zhang’s house, Fang Leyun was sitting obediently on the sofa watching cartoons, dressed in a little red padded coat.
“Daddy!”
The moment Fang Zhiyou walked in, the little boy climbed down from the sofa and rushed toward him with excitement.
Fang Zhiyou leaned down to pick up his son, showering him with kisses.
“What did you have for dinner tonight?”
Fang Leyun poked his own belly. “Tummy hurts, Grandma said I can’t eat.”
Hearing this, Fang Zhiyou couldn’t help but laugh. “Did you eat too much at lunch?”
Fang Leyun nodded. “Grandma made dumplings for lunch, I ate twenty-one of them.”
Grandma Zhang pushed the door open and walked in, carrying some medicine. “Oh, Zhiyou, you’re back early today.”
“Guoguo ate too much at noon, and I think he caught a bit of a chill during his afternoon nap,” she explained. “I just went downstairs to buy him some digestive tablets.”
Fang Zhiyou touched his son’s cheek, it felt cool to the touch.
Grandma Zhang opened the box of digestive tablets and popped one out of the foil packaging. “Here, Guoguo, take this.”
Fang Leyun picked out a peach-shaped tablet and popped it into his mouth, chewing away.
Fang Zhiyou glanced around. “Did you eat yet, Auntie?”
Grandma Zhang smiled and said, “I’m not eating, I have no appetite.”
“How about you, Zhiyou?”
Fang Zhiyou didn’t feel like eating either, so he simply replied, “I’ve eaten.”
“Alright then.”
After Fang Leyun finished two tablets, Fang Zhiyou stood up with the boy in his arms.
“Auntie, we’ll head back now.”
“Guoguo, say goodbye to Grandma.”
Fang Leyun leaned against Fang Zhiyou’s shoulder. “Goodbye, Grandma.”
“Goodbye, sweetie.”
Once they were back inside their own home, Fang Zhiyou helped Fang Leyun change his shoes and tucked two hot water bottles near him.
He held his son and gently massaged his stomach.
Fang Leyun whimpered and fussed, clearly uncomfortable.
“The rubbing will make it feel better,” Fang Zhiyou soothed. “Inhale, exhale, try to follow Daddy’s rhythm.”
Fang Leyun nodded, and as the gentle massage continued, he eventually drifted off to sleep.
Fang Zhiyou felt the boy’s skin, he had broken out in a light sweat. He checked his stomach again and felt it had softened.
He knew then that the crisis had passed.
Indigestion was a common occurrence for Fang Leyun.
Between being born prematurely and having a weak constitution from birth, the boy’s digestive system had never been very strong.
The fact that he had grown up to be so fair, chubby, and round was a testament to how much effort Fang Zhiyou had poured into him over the years.
It didn’t just take a lot of money, it took an immense amount of love.
After stepping out of the bathroom from his shower and drying his hair, Fang Zhiyou massaged the boy’s stomach for a while longer. It was only after he heard a few loud farts and had to flee to the living room because of the smell that he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
When he returned from the living room, he saw the little guy roll over, humming unconsciously in his sleep as his tiny hands grasped at the air.
Fang Zhiyou lifted the covers and pulled the boy into his arms.
Like a puppy catching the scent of milk, Fang Leyun immediately found the most comfortable position in his father’s embrace. His little mouth smacked a few times before he fell into a deep, heavy sleep.
Fang Zhiyou couldn’t sleep. He stared into the darkness, lost in thought.
Every now and then, he would lean down to kiss the top of his son’s head.
It’s okay.
My life is good right now.
As long as Guoguo grows up safe and healthy.
That is my only wish.
With a check-up scheduled once a week, it was time for another follow-up appointment. Early the next morning, Fang Zhiyou brought Fang Leyun to the hospital.
He registered, queued, and waited for their number to be called.
Not long after they sat down, Fang Leyun’s name was announced over the intercom.
Fang Zhiyou carried his son and pushed the door open. Inside, Lin Xiangyu was the only one there.
Lin Xiangyu looked up from the computer. “You’re here.”
Fang Zhiyou sat at the desk with his son in his lap. “Dr. Lin.”
